I stayed here a couple nights ago. I probably wouldn't have given this place a thought because it is out of my budget range, but my company paid for it, so I was pretty excited. I grew up in New Castle so I heard the DuPont name quite a bit. When I arrived the staff was super friendly. I had my car valet parked, the attendant greeted me with a warm smile. When I walked to the front desk, what do you know? Another friendly smile. Check-in was easy, no problems. Room was great, the building is amazing! So much history there. At night maids would offer their services to turn down beds, I declined, but it was a nice offer and they were friendly. When I checked out, I had someone help me with my bags, he was also friendly. They let me keep my bags in the back at no extra charge while I finished my class for the day. Overall, it was a great experience. Very pleased.

Pretentious, old, hotel that thinks too highly of itself. Old rooms that harken back to old times. But modern touches could be added without hardening character. And any hotel that doesn't provide coffee machines in the rooms is overly pretentious. Want coffee? Lug your butt to the lobby or pay $10 for room service coffee.

Loved this hotel. It was such a wonderful place. But one of the bell boys was not very professional. I work blue collar and when i decide to do a vacation i do not expect to push my own luggage cart if i dont have too. The cart was filled with my friends wedding dress and clothing and was not easy to move. The bell hop pushed it into the elevator and said, can u just do it yourself? I was shocked and he missed his chance to get a tip too! I was able to push it because im strong but was in vacation mood and even the cleaning lady asked to help me as i had to go to the verry end of the hall. Also they need better signs for the business center. I was totally lost for 15 min. Just saying hello outloud on an empty floor with lots of rooms and no one to help me find my way. Besides that its perfect.

Hotel DuPont is from a different time. The building has plenty of gold charm and new amenities. I don't think the building is always equipped for large groups of people as the elevator system has many problems. The room was clean and there was a mini bar. Make sure you don't pull anything out of the mini bar because it's weighted! Unless of course you're really thirsty or want a snack. The bar downstairs has overpriced drinks and slow service.

A Princely stay. 1913 hotel. posh and comfy. Large well lit room. Large bathroom. Great housekeeping & front desk. Treat yourself to some opulence by having dinner in the Green Room.

Gorgeous hotel from a bygone era of luxury and fine service. Our party's large spacious rooms very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The marble bathrooms were extremely clean with very nice amenities.

The hotel's formal resturant was wonderful. The ambiance is like experiencing dining during the gilded age. The wine list was superb and the food exquisite.

Looking forward to going back.

Amazing for a Weekend Wedding !

Amazing for a Weekend Wedding !
Guest can stay with special rates and valet parking! Staff is professional and friendly. This is the best of old world charm, a grand hotel.
The architectural details are everywhere carved ceilings and doors ,spiral staircases ,well appointed furnishings , reminiscent of Art Deco, luxurious drapery and carpeting are amazing in the Lobby, Green Room , and The Grand Ballroom is spectacular so much detail just one word ELEGANT.
We had a large group 240 attendees tables were set comfortablely for 10 along the perimeters and still allowed enough space for a large dance floor and band. We danced all night!
Servers were courteous and would go out of there way for any requests. Order the flaming dessert the presentation is unforgettable !The event planner Markie was outstanding to work with and allowed us to have a worry free experience so we could enjoy the evening. The food was plentiful and exceptional allowing gluten free for guests with special dietary needs. Booking this venue should be first on anyone list out there who's looking to have a memorable Wedding day.

this is a beautiful historic hotel that offers exceptional, friendly service. the decor is a bit "stuffy" for me but the rooms are spacious, well-appointed, and clean. the self parking lot is about a block away from the hotel which is pretty inconvenient, so I usually opt for valet parking.

Love the new lobby renovations. The Hotel needs updating specifically electrical sockets are often sloppy or sketchy at best, something I wouldn t expect from a safety core value. Beware, there is no coffee machine in the room, a longtime practice that is hugely annoying. Beds are comfortable, and bathrooms are gorgeous. Service has always been exceptional. Please, when will they begin making coffee service available?

We stayed here during Christmas and this hotel was nicely decorated. It almost felt like a fancy home. People were nice and it wasn't crowded during the holidays. We had dinner at the Green Room and we absolutely loved it. I had a roasted chicken meal and I do believe it's the best I have ever had. Our room was beautiful and we had a wonderful time here. I will definitely stay here again!

Was very unclean

Was very unclean
Room had a used condom
Bed bugs
And blood trails on the floor
The infection of bed bugs was so strong I believed that the president was tell me I could live there for free , and also recall seeing a swarm by the window so thick I thought someone was smoking
I had to demand a full refund because my wife and I started arguing about it
(And I expect my refund )
Took pictures
Very professional
But very unkept room

Not a good hotel. Terrible bedding, bad restaurant, very mediocre bar. My client made me stay there so I had to. Otherwise, would have moved out first night. A regular Sheraton seems luxurious after this hole. Why two stars? It was marginally better than average motel 6.

First and foremost, I have always enjoyed visiting the Hotel DuPont. A beautiful, luxurious landmark in Wilmington. I haven t had a negative experience until now.
I needed a place to stay after an extremely stressful week, and the most comfortable place I could think of was the Hotel DuPont. It has been far from comfortable here.
I understand the COVID pandemic has complicated many amenities. However, for a hotel that is rated 4+ stars, there should be basic needs met. There is no place to get coffee in the morning within the hotel on the weekends, except for an espresso machine in the room. I don t think it s too much to ask for a cup of coffee in the morning when staying in an iconic hotel. When I asked the front desk where I could get a cup of coffee, the woman sternly said there is no coffee available anywhere in the hotel. None at the front desk or the restaurant. This is unacceptable for this kind of hotel. They are extremely understaffed. The same front desk person is doing everything from answering phone calls and bringing toiletries to the rooms.
The valet is hardly ever out front when I need to use my car. This morning, I walked in the rain to Dunkin Donuts because no one was at the valet counter outside or at the front desk. Every time I ask for my car, it always seems like it s an extraordinary effort to get my vehicle. Not ok.
In addition, when I was using the bath, I saw a hair near the handle on the tub. It wasn t mine. The toilet wouldn t flush this morning and maintenance had to come into the room and fix it. Again, things happen, but not at this rate when staying in the Hotel DuPont.
Furthermore, the sheets are starched to the point it feels like sleeping on paper sheets in a hospital. Instead of being upfront about the pet service charge, I was told I had to pay 100.00 for my dog after the fact. The list goes on.
I feel awful about what has happened to this grand hotel. It is really struggling and I hope they can salvage this place.

Stayed here on business. Everything is a bit outdated and in sure it was a 5 star place 25 years ago but most of it is in need of renovation. Wasn't a fan that I needed room service/valet for everything. Even a pal of ice I needed to have room service bring me because there is no self serve ice machines. Felt like I was being asked for money every time I wanted to do anything. Guess I'm just not a classy person? But I like to help myself.

We just had our daughter's wedding reception here this past weekend. I could not have asked for anything more. The hotel is absolutely beautiful . It felt like a fairytale wedding. The rooms are beautiful and extremely clean. The staff is super friendly and very accommodating. The food is unbelievably good. The steak just melts in your mouth, but I have to say the best part of this experience was Sandy the wedding coordinator. She made this day so perfect for not only my daughter but everyone. She took care of every single detail. She was on top of everything. I can't thank her enough for making our daughter's day so special. She was the absolute best!!!!

The hotel is gorgeous but the staff is absolutely awful to work with. They are so unpleasant and unwilling to help you with very simple requests. Having stayed there for events many times in the past, I am extremely disappointed that it is so poorly run under new management. Everything down to the gentleman who answered the phone at the front desk was rude. Cannot recommend against this hotel enough!!!

shame on you, assuming that if a man loses his job , he is a rapist.. 2. I seen yall sign people in without asking for ID.. 3. Now I know why Yall always demand 2 forms of ID from me, while the person in front of me produces one or none.. I will for now on take my business elsewhere.

Maybe our expectations were too high, we came during corona virus. They were very shorthanded, person at desk had to park our car, get our ice , check us in AND act as bell hop. We didn't get any pre visit notification that their restaurant was closed, as was their bar. Room attendants never came to clean room after 2 days. We asked why and were told we had to request it at front desk. (No where did we see any notice of that). I'm sure they did their best but the prices did not reflect a partially accommodating stay and had we known we would have stayed home.

The hotel overbooked and asked for volunteers from our wedding to vacate rooms on no notice that had been booked months before.

I liked everything else about my experience there (beautiful hotel, friendly staff, etc.), but scrambling out of my room the day of the wedding was a huge hassle.

This was a great experience. The valet was very well organized and informative. Check in was quick and the room was clean. The TV rotates so you can watch from the couch area and the bed depending on the time of day.

Okay I have mixed feelings here. First, the staff is excellent. The price is not. This place was built in 1908... And it has the feel of the movie 1408. High ceilings with ornate designs carved into wood panels with hanging chandeliers... Or maybe it feels more like something out of the game Bioshock... There's a bit of a creepy vibe going on here. It's old, and that means so is the plumbing and the amenities, the TV's and apparently the food... The person I was with said ghost's were controlling the water temp in the shower because the dial sure didn't make a difference. The only thing that's not old is the pricing... For what they want a night and for incidentals this hotel is just not worth it...

A beautiful, historic hotel. The air conditioning wasn't working in our first room, so we got an upgrade to one of the beautiful 10th floor rooms. The staff were all friendly and super helpful. Christof gave us an impromptu tour of the hotel, and Kenny was great when we had some car trouble. The hotel itself is beautiful, the only negative is that the immediate neighborhood isn't great. We had valet parking as a part of our deal, so it wasn't an issue for us.

I was assisting a foreign delegation that stayed at this hotel. I did not stay here myself, but briefly went in to collect the delegation. It was very nice inside and the delegation was very satisfied with the accommodations, though it is very expensive.

A beautiful hotel, fancy enough to have deserved the famous people who have stayed here. The service was outstanding, every staff member was more than willing to assist me in any way. I felt like royalty.

Nice.

It s a beautiful hotel, I will definitely give it that. But me and my friend stayed there and the experience was definitely lacking. The AC in the room barely worked, and considering how hot it is outside we really wanted a cool room. Maintenance was less then friendly. It took fifteen minutes just to get on the elevator to leave because they only have one functioning elevator. All in all I wouldn t pay full price to stay here. Even the Hampton Inn is a nicer place to stay. If you want to come for lunch I d recommend it, but for a night or couple night stay, I d stay somewhere else.
