Was there for a wedding. The space for the reception is beautiful. However, the hotel rooms are very outdated. Poor lighting; old bathroom; not even a coffee maker on the room. The picture below shows the view of the tv from the bed. When I contacted reception, I was told it would be solved. It never happened; neither were we offered to switch rooms. This shows that customer service was also subpar.

What a fabulous hotel! The breathtaking architecture and decor take you back in time. My sister held her wedding at the DuPont and we were blown away by everything from the food to the amazing staff. It was an experience we will never forget!

I was maid of honor in a wedding here and it is an amazing venue. It is absolutely beautiful. All of the staff was wonderful and so helpful. They always went above and beyond to make sure all of our needs were met. Andy the bellman in particular was amazing and played a key role in ensuring every little thing went smoothly.

I've stayed here 5 times over the past several years and it is one of the finest hotels I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Beautiful, comfortable rooms, excellent service and delicious food. The conference rooms are spacious and well appointed and there is also dedicated space for large teams of either attorneys or executives to work for however long is needed.

I echo what others here have expressed about the lack of generosity and ethics of the management of Hotel du Pont. I hope potential visitors will read the comments here and act with your checkbooks by not patronizing this hotel.

Great Old School 5* Hotel, play house, bar, gift shop, & The Green room, is a top rated restaurant featuring, a must try brunch, & several, craft beer, & wine pairing events. Book a night in this grand ole dame, where, presidents, & top celebrities & many top live performers have stayed, & played, & hobnobbed with locals like myself. Including, George Carlin, & the, late great, Anthony Bourdain, who after a very entertaining, sold out speaking engagement, joined myself & other locals in the cozy, but extremely well stocked bar & lounge area, where i had the pleasure of sitting next to him, & enjoying a heineken beer with him, complete with private, food, liqour & worldwide travel tales.

The hotel has an old school charm with excellent customer service. Each room has a sitting area separate from the bedroom which is nice also the bathroom has a separate tub and shower. The bathroom products were also of excellent quality and added to the overall experience.

Left my phone in my room and was told that it was not there. It was definitely taken. I will not stay here again or recommend this place. If the had trusting staff then they would have a great establishment.

Me and my wife stayed here for valentine's day 2020. The hotel is lovely staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very nice and up to date. Very clean. Only hiccup was I specifically told them I'd be checking out early and have the vehicle ready because I'm on a tight time schedule. But nope the car was not ready we waited 10 min so the car was not warmed up its 28 degrees out there.

The front desk was extremely rude to me when I called to get a hotel folio. They actually insulted me, saying I wasn't giving the correct name.
Also, I ordered a breakfast that added up to over $200 to be delivered to a conference room at a certain time, and it was extremely late, causing a few people to be late to their next meeting. I had called in the breakfast order the previous day, and spoke to the cafe and even made sure three times over the phone that they had the correct time for delivery to the conference room. I am extremely dissappointed in this hotel, as it's got a luxury rating.

Beautiful, historic hotel in downtown Wilmington. I visited for 2 nights for a corporate meeting with DuPont. My room was a suite--very spacious. Great king size bed. Bathroom had a separate shower and tub which was unusual for many hotels. The tub even had a bath menu. You might consider your own bubble bath to get full use of this feature. There was only one TV on a innovative pivot table that could spin toward the bed or the sofa. So if looking for a suite, be aware that the 'living room' was open to the bedroom and not separated by a door if that's important to you. The dining room was opulent looking but I didn't eat there. Also be aware that it appears the streets of Wilmington roll up after 6. Not many people were around when we checked in and walked a block to dinner around 7:30.

I was there for a seminar for CE credit. We were in the Barnaby room. Old time elegance. Food was delicious. Dessert was a feast for your eyes as well as your palete. Speaker committed on how nice the rooms were if you were to stay. Always a thrill to dine here!

Our room was nice and large, but a bit outdated. Makeup mirror was almost off the wall in the bathroom, the wallpaper was separating at the seams and the carpet had stains. Obviously the new owners don't want to invest in the upkeep. The cafe we ate in had the worst service at breakfast and lunch. The bar was good. I have to say that all the staff we encountered were very cordial and professional.

I came here for a wedding. The ballrooms are gorgeous, however the food leaves much to be desired. The salmon was dry and the catering was not ideal. The caterers did not make enough food for all of the guests. The vegetables were undercooked. I would not recommend hiring the hotel catering for your future event here.

We stayed in 5 different hotels in 5 nights, only this one was listed as a 5 star hotel. A big treat for us. Very disappointing. Looking forward to the view of the city, we found the blind broken. They fixed it with scotch tape which did not hold very long. No view. The batteries on the TV remote were held in with duct tape. Yuck. The wallpaper was peeling off in the bathroom in numerous places (need tape?) Overall, the room was in need of attention. The rest of the hotel was very nice.

This has got to be the worst hotel I've stayed in, in a long while. The rooms are fine but the food and service is complete junk - breakfasts delayed, missing breakfasts, greasy food ...... we were disturbed several times by phone calls for absolutely no apparent reason and then a staffer kept knocking only to apologize that she had the wrong room... WHY THE FXXK would you knock without looking at the goddamn room number ..... we're only here because the power is out .... I wouldn't recommend this hotel to an enemy let alone any friends. How do you muck up oatmeal ?? Apparently this hotel knows the secret ......

I was in this wonderful hotel in October 2013, at the time I evaluated it, but it did not work due to some connectivity problem. Environment
classic of high standard and impeccable service. Restaurant is a relic and the service scores 10.
Very good!
I recommend.

I must say I was thoroughly impressed with this beautiful historic hotel. It has been able to keep its style and sense of beauty that so many other hotels have lost. The lobby, restaurant, and rooms were all maintained as original. My room was spacious and comfortable. This is a special place and I would recommend it highly.

The hotel is elegant and beautiful. All the staff was pleasant and helpful, including the valet workers. The gift shop sells delicious desserts from thr hotel. e attended an event at the Playhouse at Rodney Square. The theater was clean and well staffed. Overall, a positive experience!

Had tea for my birthday. It was good, not the best I've had. Positives were the atmosphere and service. Negatives were the lack of a decaf black tea (called to see if they had it and was told yes) and trying to pass off whipped cream for clotted cream.

An unbelievable restoration job was done on this hotel built by the robber barons.

Every room has a beautiful standard of newness that seems impossible for this downtown hotel.

A great place for weddings, but the catering management staff gets snippy towards the end of the evening. There goes that tip........

I just attended a beautifully elegant wedding reception at the hotel in one of the main ballrooms, and we stayed overnight in one of the blocked rooms. From the moment we pulled up to the main entance, the excellent service began with the valets and continued through out the reception and breakfast the next morning. Every staff member that interacted with was friendly and happy to help. I would recommend the Hotel DuPont for any event, big or small.

The Green Room renovation is a slight upgrade in appearance. However, service was a little slow, but that may be a function of staffing during COVID? The swordfish was good, above average even, but you need to be aware that the main course comes as a single item, and you need to order your sides separately. That would have been helpful up front.

What an absolutely exquisite hotel! The nicest place I've stayed and well worth the money!! I will definitely be back again!! The only issue was that our heat didn't work and our room got cold. It was late and I didn't feel like bothering the front desk so I turned off the air to stop it from blowing cold air.
