Hotel Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana Reviews

Great facilities, PHENOMENAL staff, best family vacation ever!

I would not recommend this hotel for a special event. There were 3 changes in wedding coordinators in less than 6 months, with the last change occurring a month prior to the event. Communication was poor considering it was destination wedding, the coordinators were entirely unavailable via phone call stating that communication would be most effective and less costly via email. Upon arriving to the hotel we were informed that there was an app available to the hotel to make free international calls. The staff does not cater to the importance of the event i.e. the couple was not accommodated in a honeymoon suite until the day of the wedding and were left in a standard room facing a wall for four days taking away from the romance of the event. The reception was poorly organized including poor sequencing of events i.e. cutting the cake at the beginning of the reception and including "la hora loca" post dinner before the party started. DJ equipment was requested and paid for however when it came time to the reception only speakers were provided without any turn tables or the mixer. Reservations were made at the hotel's spa to accommodate for 12 bridesmaids and bride for hair and make up, the appointment provided by the hotel was for 1 PM with promise that there would be sufficient stylists to accommodate for the 6 PM ceremony. Completion of hair and make up did not occur until 20 minutes prior to the ceremony leaving little to no time to get dressed pushing the ceremony to a later time. Members of the staff were racially insensitive at times outright racist toward members of the party of darker complexion. Rooms were not available on a timely manner upon arrival.

We visited for a friend's wedding and overall really enjoyed our experience. I just question the 4 star rating. I'll break it down in "the good", the ok" and the "this is not 4 star".

THE GOOD:
Super friendly and fun staff
Really comfortable bed
Quick response whenever we called the front desk for anything
Adults only Preferred Club pool/lounge was a relaxing and quiet place to hang out
The wedding itself was beautiful and really fun

THE OK:
Food, though accessible, is not great.
Our "ocean view" room - yes, we could see the ocean if we looked past the family friendly pool and restaurants. No exactly the tranquil sounds of the ocean we were hoping for.
The "stocked mini bar" is just soda and waters.
Pretty property, but a little worn

THIS IS NOT 4 STAR:
The huge rust stain in our tub
The frayed robe in the closet
The staff constantly speaking to each other in Spanish in front of guests
We were twice served drinks in broken glasses
The band aids and cigarette butts we found surrounding our chairs on the beach (granted, not on the preferred beach)

All in all, we enjoyed our trip. It was a nice place to stay, just know this is not a super luxury resort!

After the email correspondence dropped off this is the first I've heard from them. So let's address what was said.

"First, we would like to apologies for the misunderstood with your wedding coordinator, Ive was no longer working for us...who was already informed of every detail of your wedding when our wedding department inform you about this, you agree with this with indifference."

Was I supposed to throw a tantrum? He did not have all of the details. That is an outright lie. Also, I was told that she had a family emergency.

"Regarding your comments about the Spa, we would like to remember you that you arrive to the Spa, hours before the appointment, making our team arrange their schedule in order to offer you a better and personalized service, as a matter of fact, you make our stylist re-do the hair of several people because "you didn't like it" causing a delay."

I arrived at 1:00 pm, at my original appointment time and was supposed to be seen at 1:30 pm. Are you saying that because I didn't like the hair, which looked nothing like the photos my mom and nieces showed you, it is my fault? That is something.

"3rd, your wedding was in an outdoor gazebo, in the Caribbean, and for your information, the Caribbean is well known as a hot destination, and it is obviously there's going to be Sun."

Your comments and hospitality are really impressive.

"Regarding the photographer. The photographer started taking pictures of the bride at the SPA, but was told by Kerry (bride) to take just a few as she does not like photos in general. He took a few of the girls at the SPA and then moved to the groom's room, who was not ready by that time and he had to wait. When finished with Eric, and already in brides room, he was asked to go out of the room because the bride needs to put the dress on, he tried to take additional pictures and explained Kerry he needed more pictures of the getting ready, but she was on a rush to get to the wedding ceremony and didn t allow him to continue besides his explanation. He was only allowed to take a few pictures of herself before the ceremony."

The groom and best man were already ready and your photographer had them undress and to take photos beforehand. I was in a rush because I had 30 minutes to get across the resort, dressed and in place. I mentioned to the photographer that I did not like taking "posed, awkward" pictures and I wanted them to be natural. So again, you are misinformed.

"After the ceremony, he tried to lead the guests to take pictures with them, but YOU refused to have pictures of their guests and agreed with a group picture and family members only. Once again the photographer tried to lead the photo section with the family members but was told there were some family issues and there were few guests that could not be close to the others. Pictures on the beach were not taken as YOU did not want to go to the beach, so he tried to take as much as possible in the surroundings of the garden gazebo. Finally, during the reception dinner he was taking pictures around and explained to the wedding couple he still need material so he can prepare the Canvas and album, Eric agreed, but not by you. The photoshop informs that all pictures taken that day were bought by the wedding couple and when the couple picked up their pictures they thank him and said they were pleased with his work."

Absolutely, I did not want to go to the beach after all of the issues we were having. That is the ONLY part of this that is true. We didn't even have a rehearsal dinner, so again, another lie. The DJ was not informed of what I wanted. Just to let you know, I am an events coordinator in DC. I know what steps should be taken to ensure a flawless experience and what steps were not taken under your management. The fact that you never followed up with me about these things, but would put it on the internet.. you really shouldn't have this job. I'll be sure that my friends and family take their business elsewhere.

Beautiful location but not enough shady spots around the pool to sit and read whilst still being close to family. Also rooms are a bit tired looking.

The hotel is lovely but you guys need to be more specific about things especially when it comes to the booking time but over all the costumer service was great.

A pearl in a bull's head. The best hotel in that area with great service and a beautiful beach view.

Very clean, plenty to do, and very friendly staff.
Down side is that it took 2 days before they replaced the refrigerator that was not working in our room.

I love this hotel it has everything you need to relax in Punta Cana

We went as a group and eating together was not a problem. Maria Rivera asked us daily if we needed anything.
She looked after things for us.

Domincan republic punta cana dreams palm beach was warm welcoming and makes you want to start saving to return for a few more days.

The resort was nice but had too many problems with both rooms.

We just returned from 9 days at Dreams Palm Beach. Must be noted that we upgraded to Preferred honeymoon suite with butler service. Without a doubt, the upgrade made the trip... All the little extras and care they put into your stay made this an incredible trip. Can't say thanks enough to Wilson and Yonattan for taking care of everything we needed during our stay. Juan Carlos and Jose Alejandro at the Preferred pool, Odry at Coco Cafe, and Manuel for the best omelletes in Punta Cana. Their staff are excellente!!! We will definitely return.
There were several posts about the seaweed at the beach. This is not the fault of the resort and the staff are out everyday clearing the beach. Walk 1 km north of the resort to find the most beautiful beaches [and walk off some of those Pina coladas]! Food was good, not great, but they do their best to make sure you enjoy it. It will never be exactly what we're used to back home and I think that if you have that attitude going in, you won't be disappointed. Seaside Grill was definitely our favourite for rib eye...

The staff is the nicest of any resort I've ever been to. The resort is terrific too but the staff makes it extra special!

A very cozy hotel! Exceptional attention and forgiveness. The best food, much better compared to other large hotel chains. It is not very giant, therefore it is quick to reach the different areas, very comfortable. Room service 24 hrs!

Giving 4 stars because in the end we were happy. We paid the extra for preferred service because Travelocity reviews said you got premium beers and showed pictures in the fridge of them. There are only 3 beers at the resort. Same thing happened with wine reviews. There are nicer choices for purchase at a much higher price. You do get better liquor choices if you drink liquor that's where preferred is worth the upgrade. The turn down service and butler are not necessary unless that's what you need to feel happy.
The staff at swim up bar were amazing as were all resort staff.
The biggest complaint we had is the first 3 days there were not relaxing because they had us meeting them to arrange travel back to airport and they want to sell excursions at this time. They goofed this time up on us twice requiring 3 attempts from us to make sure our ride to airport was secured. Then there's the travel plan breakfast they ask you to attend the next morning. Who wants to sets an alarm the first morning of vaca. We were told we'd get $200 in spa coupons so okay we'll do it. Next morning, after alarm went off, I called the spa and was told I could only apply $40 at a time. So we cancelled the breakfast. Later that day we ran into the rep and long story short we can use the $200 at one time. So now we set the alarm for another day because an hour of our time is worth the spa voucher. It turned out to be 3 hours though.
Another annoying thing, it took 3 dsys to get the beer and snacks in our mini fridge that come with preferred service. We also had a moldy hammock so on the 3rd day we had one we could use and that was real nice. . The best part was the honey moon suite. It's ocean front even though they call it ocean view. It was nice but some things are in need of repair.
We did love the beach and weather. A must do, walk north past resorts until you round the bend and see land jutting out to right. There's a beautiful cove and the ocean is all yours. This resort is beautiful and overall we enjoyed our stay.

Great variety of food, many restaurants and one buffet. Pretty high end accommodations, only odd thing is no elevators, although highest floor is third floor.

Very clean, great food and the Best Entertainment group. Luis Power, Machine and Reybar were a blast!

Aggressive sales people during the one night a week vendors are allowed on property to sell their wares.

My first international trip, Punta Cana Dreams Palm Beach Resort is a family friendly, adult catered, tropical paradise. With many excursions nearby at great prices (depending on your Travel/Booking Agency discount), it is very enjoyable with a multitude of events and activities to try. The spa was amazing, and also nicely priced with an accompanying coupon. Drinks and food are included, as well as room service and a concierge.

Very good place for holiday the staff is very friendly and its not that expensive. The resort is on the beach there are plenty of pools and activities. Will defenetly visit again sometimes :) Thanks for everything. Wi didnt upgrade for premium and still get everything we need for our holiday.

Pity attitude of security agents. It seems that they are forced to work. Badly educated and do not even speak English. How can a tourist be in an emergency with such mediocre security? Terrible service

At first glance a fancy facility. However, this one is pretty worn out ... the alcohol is nothing special and the food - well at least it makes sure that you keep your figure. The staff is very nice and helpful, the animation team is very good. Had to change the room twice, because the shower flooded half the room, the safe was broken - again half an hour wait and then, we were 3 times in 3 nights not in the room, the castle was replaced ... complete and indeed At night. The swapped was again broken, so it was exchanged again .. then at 1 clock at night finally to bed. The worst though is IT IS DAMN YET SUPER LOUD AT THE HOTEL. You definitely get peace and quiet N I E. Have 2 weeks vacation here "leave", leave in 4 days and look forward to our bed and our peace. Unfortunately, the stress level in this hotel was so high that we need vacation after vacation ...

Good size Complex, loads to do, but I'v been to better apartments, otherwise, I'd give it 5star..

Very good value for money, very nice staff, pool at the top, good restaurants, good beach but not great (it's the Atlantic Ocean, not the Caribbean Sea). Great place in any case to spend a week exotic!

My wife and I just came back from a week vacation in May 2012. We paid full-price through the Dreams Resort Website for a complete package.

As soon as we arrived at the hotel and checked-in they immediately would not let us go to our room and instead had us sit down for 20 minutes to listen to them try and sell us their spa treatments and other items.

Then, they tried to make us go the next morning to a 90 minute session about the hotel. They alluded to us only getting our transportation back and flight confirmation if we went. Of course the other people that were there before us explained it was a timeshare sale.

Even though we skipped the meeting we had employees constantly in the lobby trying to sit with us. At one time an employee wanted to sit with us during breakfast to do this. We on all occasions expressed that we did not want and will not be listening to this. They just would not take "NO" for an answer.

Last issue we had was trying to go back home. Apparently, the airline had provided the Dreams Resort that we had purchased the whole package from, a change in one of our flights. Instead, the Resort did not communicate the change to us and resulted in us waiting at the airport for 6 hours.

I will not recommend this resort and the entire Dreams Resort portfolio to anyone.

Beautiful resort, excellent food options, staff are lovely and attentive.

Horrible experience at this resort. Sinks and phones in rooms not working, flooded rooms after big night of rain. The preferred club was extra money but alway out of top shelf beer. Top shelf liquor was fake because they were pouring cheap labeled liquor into premium labeled bottle. They were doing out in the open like they werent doing anything wrong. The restaurant service is slow and cant accommodate big tables. Be careful eating the food. They say they wash everything with filtered water but they dont. Lots of people were sick in our group and two hospitalized when we got home.

Good service, Buffett very good and varied with several food stations cooked at the time.

Food was dissapointing, bars and restaurants hours are very limited, beach was dark brown water, dinner service was slow and resort didn't seem full until dinner time and only restaurant with availability was the buffet...

I want to start with the positives of this resort. The resort is beautiful and they have made an effort to make guests really feel at home. The staff were wonderful and went above and beyond giving us what we needed. There are 5 restaurants, one main one buffet style and 4 a la carte. Italian, French,Mexican and Chinese/ Japanese. They were all fabulous and I enjoyed dressing up to eat at all of them. They also have a little coffee shop, which has a little seating area outside. It is all inclusive, so felt good to not have to pay everywhere we went. The sand on the beach was soft and the beach staff made sure beach vendors didn't bother us. They also swept the beach of seaweed. The beach attached to the resort feels secure.

Now the down sound, our room 9016 was quite dated and tired. The bed was quite lumpy and the uncomfortable. The pillows were too soft. The room smelt of sewage. We asked them to move us, which they did willingly. The sad thing is the other room was much better maintained. After check out they gave us a complimentary room for an hour, which was even nicer. I do feel we got the dud room. Sad considering we paid a lot to be there.

But on the whole it was a lovely trip and worth a visit

Well I don't want to trash the place so I'm going to say that it has a beach , a few swimming pools, several restaurants but the place is so small and tight that it feels like u r in a very nice gated neighborhood w tons of amenities instead of a resort . Compared to other resort in the area I was sadly disappointed.

We arrived at 1:30 and even though we had booked the concierge level package the room Was not ready till 3:40!! After traveling for 8 plus hours this was not the reception we were expecting! Otherwise the location is good and weather made up for it but not returning for sure!

Overall, it was a beautiful place and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was very good. The only complaint we have is we were on our honeymoon and were told we would receive some extra accommodations such as champagne, chocolates and fresh fruit tray but the only thing we received was 3 apples and champagne. We talked to other guests who were on their honeymoon and said they received more. But overall, we were very happy.

Good food and drink beautiful property. Staff is very genuinely friendly and helpful. Would go back again!!

Continual sales pitch for their club, food was average to very good, service for drinks poor to average, rooms are in need of minor to major renovations.

This place was awesome. The people were nice helping us with the little English they knew. Every thing was great the only reason I took 2 stars of was because the air conditioning was not working also the rooms were not clean and the shower and bathroom did not have a lock. The shower water was leaking out of the door. There were alot of mosquitoes even in the room and out side the room flying around the whole resort you would get at least 5 or 10 mosquito bites on one leg it's so annoying.

Loved it! Hospitality of the employees, the service, the easy access to prefferd pool side and main pool, beautiful gardens.

The staff is SOOOO FRIENDLY & POLITE, every single one speaks every time they see you. Good food, good location, excellent staff, & family oriented. Overall I had a great time

Great place for a more personal feeling. Awesome for families. Employees were beyond amazing (except 1 of the pizza makers in the market buffet, he was brutally grumpy all the time)

We love this resort. Staff is very friendly.
Maria Rivera is one of the nicest on the Concierge staff. Any question or anything we needed, was no problem.
Wilson and Ari were also standouts as Concierge staff.
Carlos and Willy at the Barracuda bar were excellente.
The food is delicious throughout the resort.
We travelled as a group of 15, and the concierge staff took care of all our needs, happily.

Lovely resort. All amenities available. Just a bit of tlc needed for the rooms. A few rusty bits in the shower and tvs need upgrading. Lovely place all the same.
