As soon as you walk in the lobby, you know you are someplace special. Skip the beach lounge and get the chairs and an umbrella. It cost less, and it you'll be a lot closer to the shore. The lack of the fifth star is because of their 100%+ markup on food and drink by the beach.
Beautiful, historic hotel and beach. Prices are astronomical!!!!
Really nice place in the beach. Definitely worth checking out. Really old with a lot of history. Shopping in the basement.
Worth a visit. Make sure you read about the hotel history in the 1888 store.
I have yet to stay in the hotel but its a beautiful place for a day trip! One great tip is if you order drinks in a plastic cup it is one of the only beaches in California where it is legal to drink on the beach! Drink's are a bit pricey though. Also look on their website for fun events like ice skating on the beach around Christmas time!
Gorgeous, historical and has amazing al fresco dining at their pizza spot.
Have had New Year's brunch here for several years and look very the atmosphere and the wonderful staff. We highly recommend visiting the place for the ambiance and the experience.
Very nice ambiance. Fancy hotel and most of all it is righr next to the beach!!
Great atmosphere, great selection of tees & hoodies, as well as other knick knacks & chotskies
Walked in off the street to use restrooms and buy coffee and food. Was served without issue. Great stop for beach goers!
Very disappointed in stay here. We had a up graded partial trash view. The flooring was horrible with carpet stains everywhere. The walls are super thin and we can here everything including teenage kids next door swearing all night. The bathroom was very old and dated. The service was ok, but slow. The only good thing so far was the ocean.
This place is more of a resort than a hotel. Plenty of stuff to do around the hotel and a nice beach and pool that comes along with it. Rooms are pricey but the service and room quality are worth the price.
We had a great time on Coronado Island. Biked around the island, hung out on the beach, and had lunch outside the coronado hotel. Laid back casual trip for the Mr & I, bit I would have brought the kids in a heartbeat. This is going to be a new go to quick trip for our family.
Had Thanksgiving dinner in the crown room. Service was excellent. Nice selection of food and very tasty. Really enjoyed the ambiance.
This hotel has been so well kept over the years. Absolutely gorgeous architecture! The shops inside are so adorable! We also really enjoyed the sunset bar which had great cocktails. The sand on the beach has mica in it so it glitters like gold. It's a must see if you're in San Diego!
Historic but old hotel. Staffs were friendly, and there was no problem with our room. But all the facilities are very old. Some seem to be renewed, but you can see that they are just band aids. I wouldn't pay over $350 per night to stay here again. Hilton Bayfront is a much better option in SD now.
Beautiful hotel but their self parking fees are extremely high and not posted fairly. Shame on you Hotel Del.
Very nice hotel in this little island, many events, right in the beach!
Views of the ocean are amazing, you can walk right out to the beach and even rent fire pits to roast Smores right on the beach
This is one of the finest hotels to stay at when visiting San Diego California. Located on the island of Coronado in San Diego this hotel offers the most luxurious and prestigious service of California. Everything about this hotel speaks of its professionalism and dedication to providing the best service to its customers.
Beautiful, old hotel. It is truly quite old AMD that can be seen in the architecture which is definitely fun to see. I personally prefer newer, more modern, structures but the location is amazing and it's worth visiting at least once.
Del Coronado, recently became part of Hilton brand, is terrible at recognizing its diamond members. Check in was long. I had two rooms. No offer for upgrade. Had to remind them multiple times on complimentary upgrade to finally get one of the two rooms upgraded to a junior suite. This hotel has no lounge access for members. Had to ask for complimentary breakfast vouchers. One of the two rooms is still not ready as I m writing this less than one star review at 4:30pm (been waiting for two hours)....I know this hotel is iconic and they have more than enough customers willing to shell out so they really don t care about being a Hilton brand and recognizing their members. It is what it is but I really needed to vent this time.
Pretty cool place to hang out at. The hotel is extremely old , but the amenities are great.
My husband and I stayed here for a week on our honeymoon. It is a beautiful self contained hotel and once you're there, you don't need to go out for anything except to lay on the beach. The food is delicious and the staff are amazing.
Great place to stay or just visit, either beach, stores, restaurants or icecream
Park off premises since they are doing construction on the property and parking is valet only. Great places to walk around and visit. We didn't stay there, but getting around was easy. Just make sure to stay in the common areas since it's easy to go out a door and not be allowed back in without a room key.
For the price of the room and resort fees. I was not impressed with this Hotel. The staff was excellent and the beach. I would only visit this hotel after there construction is over and you get a room in a new building. Loud noise starts at 7:30am with no prior notice about noise. Could not sleep in my last night was so upseting about it. Lamps were damaged with rust spots in bathroom.
Beautiful space featuring a lovely, quiet beach with sand so soft you feel like you are floating on air. Restaurants, shops, and beautiful grounds, the indoor space is equally as breath-taking. Absolutely must visit and experience for yourself.
One of those historic places that has been maintained so well it transports you to another time. If you go now you can see the ice rink and skate.
This place has a very quaint and cozy atmosphere. The food's excellent too!
Place is a joke. Came in. 1st room was not what we paid for. Got moved to a 2nd room and was in the construction side with no access? 3rd room we got moved into, bathroom was dirty, wet towels, used soap, 4th room was finally what we paid for. But 4 hours after we checked in. Couple of the staff was helpful. But the place in general was horrible. Worst experience I've had for $500 per night.
Amazing, historical, and expensive. A must see in San Diego.
Historical place to visit, nice gift shops and fine dining. Too expensive to stay.
Great place to go to the beach. The bike rental was fun.
Beach resort with public access. The beach is well equipped and maintained. Plenty of parking spaces along the beach.
I brought my mother here for her 91st birthday (3rd year in a row we ve celebrated her bday here as it s her favorite spot anywhere). After a mixup with the booking with which had me extremely frustrated upon check in as we needed a mobility ocean view suite, Kyra took over with the utmost professionalism and the whole staff made sure we were fitted in the next best option with constant follow up. She had the best experience and I did as well just observing how happy she was. We will be coming back next year for her 92nd. If able, try to fit in staying over a Sunday as the Crown Room Sunday brunch is the best in the U.S. bar none and I ve seen my share. This property never fails to amaze with its sheer beauty and vigilance to keep the historic nature of the property without negating on updates to keep it comfortable.
Rating this place as a tourist. Really neat hotel and has a lot of history, but the complete lack of parking made it difficult to access and left us feeling rushed our entire visit. Would have liked to have more time to learn about it and explore.
Hotel del Coronado is a really fancy hotel. I didn't stay there, but walked around and took pictures with my girlfriend. It has eclectic architecture and is right on the beachfront. Seemed like it was on the pricey side, but it was cool to walk around the interior and near the outside villas.
Washed up.......
Plumbing doesnt work....
Rather stay at any Marriot
One and done
It costs $30 for 2-hours of parking, but if you spend $50 at the hotel (including shops and restaurants), you get 3-hours for free. Spending $50 is easy when chips & guacamole are $18 and drinks are just as much, but it's totally worth it to see the sights.
Beautiful historical hotel in Coronado island with a so clean and nice beach. I love it.
3 star hotel, 5 star prices. Parking is a nightmare. I drove around the lot for 30 minutes looking for a spot. For the price the room was not that nice. The carpet is frightening. Everything is overpriced. For example, I was ordering room service, the menu said soda $6. Seemed a bit expensive but I ordered one. I was thirsty. They brought me an 8oz bottle of coke.
The beach is nice. The low level staff is awesome and very helpful. (Jake was a great help)
Stopped at the bar for a quick drink and some people watching. Loved the atmosphere, bartender was very knowledgeable on the local beers.
Hotel was beautiful. Housekeeping was terrible. Would not restock wash clothes in shower after first day. Room was not cleaned until after 5 pm on 2nd day. Very rude to my daughter when she called them on late room cleaning.
Had a very good family reunion here. 50+ people and basically no problems. The beach is nice, the facilities are nice, the rooms are nice. I had no complaints.
My boyfriend had week long meetings here for work. I came up and played while he worked. So this hotel is absolutely stunning on the outside and a treasure on the inside. Now it's no modern foo-foo hotel but the character and history of the hotel has been beautifully maintained.
The service we had durning the cocktail hour and dinners were top notch. The employees were all Very polite and nice. The food has also been fantastic.
Just walking around the hotel grounds was simply amazing!! Beautiful place!!
Everyone knows the place is nice, of not old and quaint, but the prices for food are beyond ridiculous!!! I'll NEVER eat at one of their on-hotel restaurants again.
Beautiful backdrop to a day at the beach. Moo time ice cream is also a great afternoon treat!
Amazingly beautiful historical building. Really neat to walk through with plenty of shops and places to eat. One of the best places to visit in San Diego. The only problem is everything there is a bit pricey.
Tons of history and you can t beat the setting. Stay here every year for company conference. The only reason it s not 5 stars is because they could spend more on upkeep and the food leaves something to be desired.
Beautiful hotel, major tourist attration in Coronado. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, with lots of areas open to the general public. Well worth the walk from wherever you find parking.
Fantastic stay in magical surrounding! Very friendly staff, and unforgettable atmosphere.
Excellent spot for an evening boardwalk stroll, watch the sunset and have a drink and dinner. The people watching is great, but the spectacular sunset really made my evening. A number of great places around the property to sit and watch the world go by.
This is such a magical place and they treated us so wonderfully for our 10th anniversary. And the room was inspired.
This is the place where you can bring your kids and let them enjoy a vacation because of the security. The services, staff, food are quality excellent. The rooms were a bit pricey but the stay and the cleanliness are even worth the price. Overall, my stay was a superb! Thank you so much for the best experience!
It was a neat hotel. I didn't actually stay there but I wandered through just to check it out and it seemed really nice with location and novelty with being made out of wood and stuff. Bit crowded though
Truly an engineering masterpiece, that has stood proudly through history. There were alot of people playing games on the massive lawn and walking on the beach. There were of course interesting places to shop, an old fashioned ice cream shop with many yummy choices. We were just visiting so I didn't get to see what the rooms were like. The lobby was huge and if the rooms are decorated like the lobby I'm sure they are beautiful. Be prepared to spend lots of money, if you book a romantic get away!
Highly recommend Membership. Great place to unwind and regroup.
Not the best experience in my travels. Military helicopters flew over the beach at night making noise and disrupting the ambiance of the hotel. Very expensive for very little food etc.
Alright. This hotel is an experience and this is probably the only reason why I am giving it 4 stars. Location is superb, staff is fantastic, hotel is beautiful, but rooms are outdated, amenities are old and there is constant construction. Also as a consequence of its reputation, prices are outrageous.
Beautiful (and massive) hotel. Lots of shops and restaurants. The whole area is gorgeous.
The grounds were decorated beautifully for the holidays. The hotel provides a ton of amenities, however given it was so busy, it was hard to get service at the restaurants. My colleague and I waited for 40 minutes for service Saturday night. The room was beautiful, however far from the original building with a lot of construction. It would be nicer to quarantine the hotel to guests only, as there were a lot of people in and out at all hours, most who were very rude as they tried to get photos in the middle of the lobby. Brunch was great (Sunday morning), however unsure it was worth $100+ per plate. We agreed to come back another time when it was not busy season.
It is an epic site. Very unique hotel. Must see if you are in the area. Right on the beach. Just really beautiful.
It's an attraction in itself. Great food all around. Good for families and sunset lovers.
Classic, beautiful old grand hotel. Lots of history, beautiful setting.... Had a lovely lunch outside at the hotel restaurant. I was a tourist there, but enjoyed my short visit quite a bit. Park along the beach and walk to it, was going to be $37. to park our car for the day if you are not a guest.
I haven't gotten the chance to stay here, but I love visiting! It's always nice to get a drink on the beach and people watch.
Haven't stayed there but went there as one of my customer strongly recommended. It was truly great to see beautiful beach and relex myself by walking there.
Visited the inside and the outside of this place during a trolley tour. It is amazing and would like to someday stay at the hotel. The beach here is amazing for southern California. The entire building is constructed from wood. There are several restaurants at the hotel and many more near by walking.
Historical Coronado. I've been here a few times the ambience is pretty good I really enjoy the outside bar. Will return soon.
Great view and fun place to check to out whether you're a tourist or a local. Be sure to check out the shops and hang out on the terrace for a drink and view of the sunset.
Stay away for the next 2 years. Their is a lot of construction going on. We woke up on Saturday morning to the sounds of jack hammers and skill saws. Then room had an inch of dust in it and the view was not what we paid for. They are doing extensive construction. Save your money and find another place.
Wonderful ambience. Food in restaurants are average but great service
Tbag and its volunteer group are the first place in history that has been in place since the first place and then come to work with us and it is the first time I have.

RE: Complaint of Mold/Mildew in Room # 4135
When we entered the hotel room on arrival my wife had noticed a damp smell that permeated the room; I could not smell anything because I have had a bad cold and was congested. We thought the smell would go away and did not want to make a big deal of it over Christmas. When we woke up on Christmas eve morning (Dec. 24) the children and my wife also had cold like symptoms and were complaining.
My bad cold started to clear up a bit on Christmas and I too could smell the obvious mold. On Christmas Eve we went to the front desk at approximately 7 pm to ask if we could switch rooms. The attendant at the desk was overwhelmed and said the Hotel was full and there were no rooms available. I was very upset, but my wife did not want to ruin everyone s Christmas by going to another Hotel. (We also had other family members staying at other rooms in the hotel.) Over the ensuing several days my wife and children continued to have cold like symptoms and none of us enjoyed a good night sleep during our entire stay.
We booked our room at the Hotel del Coronado to enjoy what was supposed to be an epic Christmas Holiday in my wife s home town with several family members - at was once a great Hotel. Instead we felt sick the entire time we were there.
