A two-hour wait for room service in February; on hold with room service for nearly 30 minutes to place the order. Yes, it's a rainy night but a hotel in this price range should be able to manage ten orders (the # of orders ahead of us, apparently). They couldn't bring up an order of chicken fingers for a struggling child? Unimpressive.

We didn t stay at this hotel but we got to walk around it a little bit because we had heard that it s kind of famous in California. We are from Arizona so we had to check it out of course being tourists lol. They didn t mind us walking around on the beach and we got to check out all the shops that they have there. They have a lot of places to get souvenirs and clothes. We stopped in the ice cream parlor and it was so good. Very creamy and smooth and they made it all fresh and homemade.

A San Diego institution with rich history, The Del has been hosting royalty, politicians and celebrities since the Victorian era, with good reason, too. This beautiful hotel right on the beach offers superior service, charming decor and world-class dining all in one location. Enjoy brunch at Sheerwater, stroll along one of San Diego s best beaches, and dine in style at 1500 Ocean. Sunday brunch in the Crown Room is a feast for the eyes and the palate. Located on Coronado, you can hop on a ferry to go downtown, or simply choose to spend your stay on the island .

Under construction, parking was super difficult the entrance was hard to find. So many areas are closed off. I suggest wait until the remodel is completed before you visit. And wait until the pandemic is over for a much better experience IMO

Hotel del Coronado has been around since 1888 and was created by Elisha Babcock and Hampton L. Story. For more than 130 years this beach has provided extensive leisure to residents, celebrities, royalty and US presidents. In 1997 this location was designated as a National Historic landmark by establishing itself as one of San Diego iconic locations.

We did not stay in one of the rooms, but plan on vising this location again to get some more vivid pictures!!

Great location, friendly staff (especially Andrew the elevator operator).
I stayed one room away from a haunted room...I can happily say that the only encounter that I had with any spirits we're at the bar down stairs!

I just checked in 10 minutes ago, was already asked for a tip from the valet, then the lady at the front desk tried to tell me about the healing properties of MY necklace then to top it off the bell hop smashed my foot and refused to move because he just had to make it on the one elevator in the building and couldn t put the customers first. Once a nostalgic hotel.. now just sad and run down...

The hotel itself is very old and filled with nostalgia. There are of course things that aren't perfect but it is kind of expected when your building is over 130 years old. There are many upgrades and many period pieces still in use today. The staff is excellent and they try to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible! Everything is neat and clean!! Expect to pay a lot for everything! This may just be sure to California or that it's harder to get supplies to the area but things are pricey! The beach is a very short walk out the door and many of the rooms have a view of shoreline. Even if you don't get a view of the water you get other great views of a garden. Very nice place to visit and relax! I did just about nothing for my entire stay and it was fantastic!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Coronado hotel. We were offered an upgraded room in the main original hotel building, with a garden view. Our original booking was in a newer building closer to the beach. We had to wait 45 minutes for this so-called upgrade , after being told it would be 10 minutes. (Unfortunately we barely had time to change clothes before being picked up by charter bus to go for dinner. (No time to shower, after travelling all day). They failed to inform us when offering the upgrade that there was a major renovation going on outside that part of the hotel. Jackhammers etc. Starting From 0630h 2000hrs, each day. Room was small, bathroom tiny. Windows only opened halfway. No balcony. We did have a beach view, beyond the construction site, in the distance. original room was large, closer to beach, with balcony, with huge bathroom. The reason we had comparisons is because other friends in our travelling party were not offered the upgrade and thus stayed in the building we would have if said upgrade was declined. Each of their 2 rooms overlooked the beach. Peaceful and quiet there. I would give it one star based on the courteous bell boy. The deception of the check in staff ruined our stay and would make it a zero star rating. This may be tollerable at a youth hostel but for the world famous Coronado Hotel in San Diego California something needed to be said.

The atmosphere and the brraktaking feeling you can feel just by being there as you enjoy the Coronado beach right beside it makes the hotel seem like a magical place in its own right. Nightly events and so many more there makes any trip to the hotel a memorable and unique experience.

If you aren't staying at the Hotel Del Coronado, I think you should know what to expect if you just want to tour it. There isn't a lot to see... It's worth a visit, but don't plan on spending the day there. It took about 30min. to walk around and take in the hotel and snap a few photos. We spent far more time walking the beach.

Hotel Del Coronado, is an amazing hotel. Old but with a hint of Hollywood! The hotel itself has a wonder staff that tends to your need. While the room is a bit dated, the atmosphere of the hotel is vibrant and classy. The outdoor area is the best. Big patch of grass and a wide open lovely feeling. Overall this place is a great stay with a price tag. Bit it's worth it

Historical hotel offers a timeless experience, that almost feels like a previllage to stay in. That said it is long overdue for a major renovation. The size of the hotel and the lack of staff make for a pretty average customer service experience. Four stars is for history. Without that its well overpriced for what you get.

Started out bad..construction right next to our cabana started at 07:00 the first morning there. Not supposed to start until 09:00.Spoke with a Manager, Cassidy, who gave us very generous compensation. Made our stay turn from to .
Will definitely go back but will be sure construction is not in our immediate vicinity. There is a major renovation going
on and will be for sometime so inquire about room location.

Hotel Del is an incredible place to visit. Lots of history, beauty, and in the quaint and peaceful city of Coronado. You can sit inside for an incredible eating experience, on their awesome outside patio, or on the beautiful beach! One of my favorite places to visit.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here. There were a few minor issues. We reserved a "Full ocean view" room and got stuck with a room that had a huge palm tree blocking the view. We were moved to a better room but even it was 2/3rds ocean view at best. Staff was friendly and helpful. The in hotel restaurants were always very busy, but the room service wasn't too slow. Suggest checking in early if you are trying to get a room with a good view.

The hotel del is always a solid destination tourist or local. Especially during the winter when they have the ice skating rink up and the Christmas tree and decorations. It's one of the only places you'll ever be able to ice skate and see the sunset over the ocean.

I am currently here. I was just at the Sun Deck this afternoon and happened to drop an F-bomb within earshot of a barback. Next thing I know I am surrounded by four security guards because of the "no cursing at employees policy." 100% Lie. I check out in the morning and I am hiding in my room the rest of the evening. I will never be back.

Not a very good experience. Room was expensive, they put us in a broom cupboard for a room. Dirty, water was shut off for 5 hrs and last but not least they denied me late check out though my Hilton honors rewards membership clearly delineates it as benefits and tried to lie about the reason for denying my request. I will not be staying here again.

I walked straight from my room to the beach. The sand literally sparkles, and the water in September is refreshingly cool (not frigid). Every staff member I passed during my stay smiled and acknowledged me. It's a beautiful venue with wonderful service!!

This is a very large hotel with multiple style rooms available. We stayed in the main part of the hotel in a suite. The hotel is literally on the beach which was great and not overly crowded. They also had multiple pools with food and drinks available to order. Even pb&j for the kids.

This hotel has multiple restaurants and dining choices. Their morning buffet is on the pricey side, but has an amazing option of food as well as made to order omelets that come with the buffet. There is also an ice cream shop and a candy shop with so many choices.

The hotel staff are all very friendly and quick to help with any needs you have. The only part we did not enjoy was ordering room service, it was overpriced and the food was cold before it got to us, on top of not being very good. The wifi was also very slow.

The Hotel Del is an historic San Diego landmark which should be visited by everyone visiting the city. From the incredible architecture, to the Hollywood glamour that surrounds it, and the amazing beach setting it should not be missed! And the huge upside down Christmas tree hanging in the lobby made great pictures!! We loved it!

The worst hotel I ve stayed at soo far. We were told we got an upgrade to the ocean front rooms but it was no upgrade. We got to look out the window and see bob the builder starting his work at 8 o clock in the morning! I haven t even added the hour wait for room service, stains on pillows and towels when we got there and just not great service besides the valet who were on duty and respected us. So overall I wouldn t stay at the ocean view tours unless your favorite show is bob the builders than you will do quite well in that room.

Slice of heaven at Hotel del Coronado! It is a destination dream full of historic value, upscale service and an altogether classic experience. For those wanting to visit for a short day trip, there is parking available. You can visit their ice cream shop, grab a coffee, have a delicious cocktail or sun on the beach all while enjoying the beautiful views of Coronado Island. I highly reccomend this spot and can't wait to return.

The Del Coronado is truly a beautiful hotel.Resturants are wonderful and they also have a delicious little ice cream shop. Ice cream nachos are our favorite! The beach area is always clean and beautiful. We go every year during Christmastime to ice skate and always have a wonderful experience.

This is a very cool place to stay with its old world grandeur. The service was very good including the traditional old world style of the elevator with its elevator man who seems to have a photographic memory. We have had several friends stay here and have even come here ourselves on weekends "away". It is a special place.

A ripoff. Parking is ridiculously expensive, they promote many activities but it is boring and the cabana and umbrella rentings are ridiculously expensive as well. Be ready to pay around $100 minimum for nothing. Basically to park and get two beach chairs and one umbrella that covers nothing. Absolutely not recommended especially if your younger than 50.

Go here for the location and the history, not the amenities. It's an ok hotel with ok rooms and ok amenities in a really great spot. Not on par with other luxury hotels in sother California.

Older rooms, a lot of walking required from rooms to front desk and meeting rooms, kinda isolated from everything else. Need to spend money on taxis just to do something else, overpriced coffee and food here..

Highly recommended. Rooms are clean and bed are comfy. Fridge and microwave is a plus. Free parking was also a plus. Bathroom size was good. I like that they have beach towels in the room already. My favorite was the rooftop and easy access of the beach. It s also nice that they have swimming pool cause most hotels that are right by the beach doesn t have it. The AC was a plus cause there are hotels that doesn t have it because it s San Diego. This is one of my favorite hotel even though It s hard to book a room.

The buffet brunch here is out of this world! They have a ridiculous variety of food, and all of it is well prepared and well presented. Bring your appetite (and your wallet: this place is very expensive...)! I was especially a fan of their array of desserts.

It was a good place to get lunch. The beach was good to. The location is great. Great view. The stuff is obviously pricy but there is a small mall at the Coronado to by snacks and tourist nick nacks.

I wouldn't even give this property a one star. They put us in a room that at 3am in the morning the entire bathroom flooded from the ceiling down. Registration took 45 minutes the night before as they had no help and the receptionist couldn't even run a credit card authorization. Because registration took so long, we came to find out that all dining was closed. On the second night after trying to dry everything in the bathroom, exactly at 4am the same exact flooding happened and then again at 8am. I took pictures of the flooding to show the manager. After standing in line at the reception yet again, we were inconvenienced again and moved rooms having to pack up my entire family. We later went to dine on property and they couldn't even locate our name in the system to order a drink or have dinner. The concierge never responded to 4 emails sent prior to the visit to arrange event activities for my kids during our staff. The service was some of the worst I have ever seen for $800 a night. I have been there several times but will not be returning and they think $30 of service recovery is acceptable. During our stay, we also were surrounded by guests that could be overheard of also being less than satisfied with their room, the food and the long wait lines at the front desk to even ask a simple question. I would not take your family there, it was embarrassing to my children to have this experience as their end of the year summer trip before school.

Unfortunately we were stuck near a high traffic entrance, across from the ice machine and the linen closet so the room was quite noisy (3118). The couch in room was covered in food stains as well. Most of the site is under construction so if you are expecting post card-esque view of the historic Hotel you will be disappointed. The pool and beach access were amazing and the beach next the hotel is groomed every morning I think but at the price they charge I would have expected a more rounded overall experience.

This is a great historic hotel. Very elegant, old school. From the days when people made buildings with character. Even if you don t stay at the hotel sit on the outside balcony and enjoy some food or a drink: watch, hear and smell the ocean
