Was fortunate enough to receive a heavily discounted room. Amazing hotel, but certainly not what everybody gushes about. The room we had was quite standard although there was an enjoyable patio and easy access to the private beach. Parking was charged after the fact which was 30 dollars a night. Bit steep in my opinion. Breakfast was not cheap but worth it at close to 50 dollars a person. Overall, lovely experience, but could be made a little more accessible to everyone.

Been coming here for years. LOVE the location and the pomenade. On our latest visit, check in line took an hour. Our room wasn't ready. Waited two more hours for our room. Went to the room which were gorgeous with a balcony overlooking the beach. Go to car to get our luggage, come back to room and key card doesn't work. Had to wait another hour to get this straightened out. House phone on our floor didn't even work to try to call down to the front desk. Internet was down too. Didn't get to start enjoying room until after the sunset. After several phone calls got the manager a few days later who was nice and appologized for the check in fiasco. I will be returning so please do add more check in help. At these room prices guests should be getting top service.

This place is a classic, and beautiful. It's a walk from many local restaurants and a view of the bay. But.... the parking. Half the lot was closed off and valet parking was insanely expensive. All parking is paid, and mine was more than I want to say, and I was there for a conference my company was holding.

We had ice cream at the Moo Time there and while the ice cream was good (and even a pretty good deal) the young women working the counter seemed incapable of providing friendly service. I felt I was inconveniencing them every moment I was there.

Excellent wedding venue, excellent place overall, excellent staff. Almost a perfect place. I said this because We were disappointed with the room we occupied (Victoria arm 3300), considering the price we paid. It was a cramped room. I travelled a lot with my job and comparably speaking with the hotels I ve stayed (out of state & Chicago), Hilton, Marriott, Crown Plaza etc, to Holiday Inn, the Coronado Hotel room we occupied was uncomfortably cramped. My husband & I were really disappointed.

The Hotel del Coronado is a historic hotel on Coronado Island. Located next to the beach, this resort offers a variety of options for those looking to get away from it all.

While I did not stay at this resort, we did dine and check out some of the offerings that it had to offer, mainly the beach. Yoga is offered as well as on beach spinning/cycling courses.

This resort is on a great location, directly across from Coronado Beach!

This is an iconic hotel. Must visit/stay if you are in San Diego. It's on miles of great beaches. I prefer the quiet downtown Coronado area, which is walking distance from the hotel, to the very noisy Gaslamp Quarter.

While a cute tourist attraction, I would not stay here if you are allergic to dust mites. The carpet is beautiful and historic, but the San Diegan climate makes it a continual hotbed of dust mites, no matter how hard the staff works to keep it clean.

I ve been making the Hotel Del Coronado a part of my tradition for the holidays and take pictures by the tree for 17 years and was finally able to have Thanksgiving dinner in the crown room with all 13 of us. It was beautiful and the staff was great! The food was amazing too. The reason I left off a star was because I was so disappointed in the Christmas tree this year I didn t even take pictures by it. Why would such a traditional hotel decide to put there tree upside down???

Nice place in terms of history and culture. Rooms are dirty, dusty, and outdated, rusty fixtures. Furniture is old and beat up, in disrepair. High price point for the poor room quality. Grounds are great!

What a beautiful place to host a wonderful venue. Me and my wife attended the Crown Club New Years Eve celebration. the venue was beautiful, the drinks were great and the music was bumping. The male dancer were a bit weird and uncomfortable. Unfortunately me and my wife left the event due to that male dancers. It became to much to see.

A beautiful hotel that is every bit as expensive as one would expect, and then some. Our room, though beautiful, was small and there was a substantial amount of items left in it from previous guests, for which we were offered no compensation. The bathroom was so small that the door wouldn t even open more than 60 degrees before it hit the toilet. Staff was always kind, but it was clear to us that we were not the guests that mattered, those guests that were paying 98 dollars a head for the Sunday Brunch were the ones that mattered.

The best. All the great movie stars from yesteryear, dignitaries, presidents, and then just little me. If you can afford to stay here I highly suggest you do so. If you can't afford to stay, at least park and walk through this historic palace. Worth every penny and every lasting memories. Drive across the Coronado Bridge then take the strand on around to complete the loop.

It's a beautiful place to visit. I haven't stayed there but I've walked around and ate. The inside was beautiful and very clean and the outside was amazing and you can find many seashells along the beach!

The Hotel Del Coronado is a beautiful resort, rich with history. Yes, it comes with a price tag on all fronts but if you didn t know that going in, you weren t paying attention. Going in knowing that it was going to be pricey, I was already over that when I arrived and enjoyed every minute of it. The property is gorgeous and very well kept. The rooms and buildings are old (over 130 years old to be exact) so some wear and tear was expected and in my opinion, adds to the charm of the place. The staff at the hotel are all great and go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. We also really enjoyed exploring around the hotel as Coronado was a cute town with fun shops and lots of great restaurants. We can t wait to come back for another visit as soon as possible!

A long trek from North County for my weekday breakfast business meeting. Ocean view from the restaurant terrace is a not so subtle reminder of why I live in SD and love the Del - now a Hilton property. The breakfast buffet was a good decision with all the standard fare, but I see the Sunday brunch now sets you back $98/pp - ouch! From past experience, it offers delicious choices - but still, ouch! Order it, and spend the rest of the afternoon walking it off on the Del's great white sand beach. If you happen to be mired in the east coast winter from hell that just won't quit and this sounds decadent, it surely is - book the trip!

It really pains me to give this resort a three. 5 Year ago I gave this resort a 5+. The change to Hilton Management has hurt this once wonderful resort. As I've read several times here, the room assignment are random and you take what you get at check-in. In addition the reservation system is a -1 in rating. The worst I've ever seen. I would rate the transportation system a 1. 5 years ago they had a great Del Express contract where a decent price would get you to several locations around San Diego. That was canceled and the private service they offer is 4x higher. I have a trip booked but really considering canceling. My money may be best spent elsewhere. I really don't want to show up and not get the room I want and then have to struggle with transportation. that is not a stress free vacation I'm looking for.

I can't really give a fair review, but Google rewards is offering me a reward for one. So here I am. I just walked through. Seems pretty cool cuz of the history. And it's right on the beach. Amazing views. Sunday brunch was $98 for adults, and $36 for kids. There are small little shops underneath the hotel. An ice cream place, candy, etc. And again, you walk almost right out to the beach.

Beautiful hotel. A little frustrating that the main elevator stops running in the evenings and you re forced to go to another building to make your way up. We couldn t find the other elevator and eventually a kind employee operated the elevator for us.

I booked this hotel a few days ago on Priceline for my birthday. What I booked was a double queen cabana room with a terrace. What I received was a queen tower ocean view. When I contacted the hotel and Priceline about it they are giving me the run around and not helping me. Priceline sees that my contract for the room is the cabana room but the hotel says it s the ocean view tower room. The hotel is not helpful at all and doesn t provide any form of customer service.

Took a day trip from Laguna Beach and had high hopes for lunch. Boy was I wrong. I m plant-based and was under the assumption that there were many options at Sheer Water. Wrong! The salad consisted of lettuce and not filling at all plus it was the size of a side not a main so I decided to ask for a side of quinoa. It took ages to come and when it did it was watery! I was so hungry that I decided to try it anyway which was a bad move because it was so full of salt that I couldn t eat another bite. The best part is that our lunch came to over $150 and all we got was a bunch of lettuce, watery overly salted quinoa and my husband s burger which was just okay.

I don t mind paying more for great quality food but this was far from average quality.

I also would have liked to check out the view, and other parts of this historic hotel but the halls were swarming with people and it felt very claustrophobic.

If you don t like overly crowded places, and if you enjoy great tasting food in top notch restaurants, do not go here!

This hotel is beautiful and set in an amazing beach front location. The shops are pleasant and well stocked with desirable merchandise and the restaurants offer a sophisticated beach like ambience. The food is unique, tasty, and well priced.

OFF THE CHART!! So posh, chic, understated elegance that you just want to get lost in for a month or two!! Beautiful views everywhere you look, any kind of service you think you need or want. Superb food and the food is sumptuous. Heaven on thee beach with a perpetual lovely breeze.

Had a couple rooms here with the family for a couple days. We are from San Diego, so this was a "staycation," while the parents drove down from LA. First things first, this is NOT a 5-diamond resort. There IS plenty of help and service was generally very friendly and helpful, but don't expect folks running around catering instantly to your every whim.

What you're paying for is the location and property. The location is at a prime location in Coronado. Despite Coronado's "ugh" aspects, like draconian pedestrian rules, bicycle rules, car rules, city-wide no smoking rules, days-to-walk-your-dog rules, to name a few, it is a beautiful and safe place. The hotel building is classic and despite showing her age here and there (she IS 130 years old), the hotel is generally very well kept. They were replacing parts of the roof on a building next to ours so the hotel is actively working to keep itself maintained.

Rooms are smaller than most hotels you may be used to. But that's part of the historic charm of the space. The housekeeping staff are great, as is most of the staff around the grounds. Juliette at the pool exemplified great service. From behind her towel counter, she saw me walking across the pool area with arms full of ice bucket, towels, a hat, and other stuff, and she rushed over to offer a hand. Bravo.

The only real "ehh" moment was the dining. The Sheerwater breakfast was outstanding on both days we were there. Dinner there was also great, although missed a couple marks with only "warm" food, and poorly timed appetizer served right as dinner was coming out. The service was also only warm. All three of our servers at each sitting, Antonio, Luis, and Jesse, started off great, offering warm friendly welcomes. Then tended to disappear, rarely coming by to check on things and leaving us having to walk around to find them to get a check. So have to say the food service was 0 for 3.

In all, the hotel is a must see and do. For the historic beauty, prime location, and text-book San Diego weather, the hotel is a great place to visit. Keep in mind you can enjoy many of the hotel amenities (restaurants, shops, beach, grounds) just visiting as well so definitely pay them a visit.

bello ma non mi ha fatto impazzire.......Hotel del Coronado (also known as The Del and Hotel Del) is a historic beachfront hotel in the city of Coronado, just across the San Diego Bay from San Diego, California. It is one of the few surviving examples of an American architectural genre: the wooden Victorian beach resort. It is the second largest wooden structure in the United States (after the Tillamook Air Museum in Tillamook, Oregon) .
When it opened in 1888, it was the largest resort hotel in the world. It has hosted presidents, royalty, and celebrities through the years. The hotel has been featured in numerous movies and books.

I love grand old hotels like Hotel del Coronado. Being able to stay in them connects us to a time in history that shows how great our nation became through hard work and dedication. The Hotel del Coronado is opulence personified. I love the rooms, food, and service.

One of the most picturesque hotels in San Diego! We actually saw the hotel from the bridge as they have lights on the hotel for the holidays. There was so much to see and do: hotel bar, upside down Christmas tree, ice skating rink, sand castles and shopping! Will be back!

Paid cash at checkout. They still charged my card. The receipt they emailed me shows I didn t pay cash. Our room had hair in the shower, stains on the sheets, and water marks on the table. Also the tv didn t work when we got to the room and we had to wait over an hour to have someone come fix it.

Inside this resort there are many shops and restaurants inside so that if you feel like shopping, you're in for a treat! The little ice cream shop we visited was very nice. They offer ice cream, sorbet, and gelato. So yes, come here if you want to see a gorgeous tourist attraction that is quiet on the outside but crowded confusion on the inside.

What a special place! Staying at the Del Coronado has been on my wish list for many years, and for my birthday I finally fulfilled that wish. The lobby is full of old world charm and luxury. The room we were in was nicely appointed and featured a lovely decor. The hotel staff was overly accommodating and friendly, (with the exception of a snooty concierge desk). Other than that, the staff was great! We especially liked talking with the elevator operators. They had great stories to tell on our quick rides between floors and always had big smiles on their faces. While we were staying here we enjoyed days at the on-site beach and one of the pools. We felt so relaxed and peaceful while enjoying these amenities. We also had lunch at Sheerwater, one of the on-site restaurants. The food and the service was impeccable, (but not without a premium price). All in all we had an incredible time here and hope to return again to make more special memories soon.
