Not what I expected from a Holiday Inn Express. The beds we're uncomfortable hard. No refrigerator and the room smelled old and musty. The staff was friendly but not inviting. The lobby was not well kept.
We stayed there 3 nights ( because we had reservations) and I took pictures of the following items: torn shower curtain, torn wallpaper in the bathroom, large curtain that did NOT cover the window entirely plus it was torn, a bug in the bed and lastly a bug on the wall in the bathroom. We paid way too much for this hotel with those kinds of issues. If Holiday Inn would like to contact me, I will be happy to share my photos. The positive item: the housekeepers made up the room nicely.
I really liked it there. Parking if free. Although there are plenty of emergency exits, and doors, entry is allowed only in the front. The place is really clean. The decor set up is really appealing to the eyes, as you enter the lobby. The double room is pretty also. There were no dresser drawers for clothes. There were two basic drawers in the stand holding the TV and a few items can be stored there.
You can use shelves in the closet the fold clothes and store them. There were ample hangers for my son and I. The shelves are large and deep so there is plenty of room.
The breakfast is basic breakfast stufffs: Bacon, eggs scrambled, sausage, fruit; i.e.- apples and oranges, french toast, yogurt, muffins, bagels, etc. You serve yourself as much as you desire, it is NICELY, presented. The option for breakfast with room price is yours. My son totally enjoyed it and so did I. The staff is respectful.
The indoor pool is CLEAN AND NEAT!!! The exercise unit is also clean, well ventilated. Overall it was a pleasant stay. I did not need all those amenities, but, it is nice to have.
Breakfast was not included, the front desk was a little picky at check in. The reservation was the n my name but the rewards card is in my husband's name, so they ended up needing to talk to both of us. Everywhere else let's me check in while my husband gets the kids and bags out of the car. Not a big deal just less than streamlined.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating. My room was clean. I requested a fridge in advance and I received a fridge, microwave and a coffee pot. I'm quite pleased. I hope my whole week here goes as well as my first day.
Nice facilities for conferences. Easy to locate and very clean.
The service was nice. The front desk pointed us to the best beaches. The rooms could use updating. Our AC unit made whining noise. We didn't call on it because it was too late for us.
The $11 pp breakfast was a little expensive for what they had, but the food was good. I just expected more variety. They had oatmeal, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, coffee, tea, all buffet style.
After my stay in several Holiday Inn Express I expected more because those are nicer with free breakfast.
Nice stay without any jumps or stuff out of the ordinary.
Worst service I had, I never give a bad review. But what was supposed to be the best night was ruined. The front desk stuff were terrible and rude special Barbara. I got married in the ball square and we didn t stay on our wedding night I was surprising my husband for his birthday. I called a head and ask if they do room decor like rose pedals, they YES. And when I got there nothing. I called the front desk and said I ask for room decor and they said we just write it on your reservation we don t do room decor, I was disappointed caz I called a head and they said YES. We went to the room and the room was not very clean and bed leather was peeling off. The whole room looks Horror, we could not leave and decided to stay caz fining a babysitter is hard. I would never recommend anyone there even to do there wedding. The employees need proper training.

The rate listed on their site was the "points rate" so when I found this hotel, I arrived and was told the price was 40 dollars higher than what was listed, breakfast wasn't included ( every other Holiday Inn I've stayed at, breakfast was included) I paid in cash, but this hotel still made me give a credit card, and charged me a $50.00 incident fee. They stated it would be returned to my card after check out, and would take 1-2 weeks. I have stayed at Holiday Inn's with most of my trips, and have been very happy. This hotel was not as clean as others I've stayed at, I was very disappointed.
It's a little dirty and tacky and low budget, but honestly, it serves the purpose of a hotel
This hotel was infested with bed bugs , never again will I go to a Holiday inn if its not express. I was thinking it was a food allergy when in fact it was an infestation of bed bugs. . Stay away from the peabody in boston
The ballroom that my daughter and I were in for a meeting was beatuiful. I noted that the space could of been made even larger which may fit your needs if having a huge party. The bathrooms servicing the ballroom was a bit away and nice, but small if you had a lot of people there would be a big wait. Was not hard to find, GPS directions clear.
The shower head is very bad. After a whole day of travelling from Montreal, we just want to have a good shower and sleep but this place failed us. Other than that, it is an okay place for a short stay.

The layout of the hotel is a little confusing, the rooms are nice typical rooms. There is a small pool. The breakfast is mediocre.
Room carpet was filthy with serious stains and wet spots throughout one of the two rooms we rented:elevator did not work.Management was quick to change one of our rooms: while it was a little better it too had stained carpet, and a very poorly working toilet. Not a pleasant experience at all, in fact we will not visit another Holiday Inn again.(8/22/15)
It's an ok place to stay. The hotel (rooms/ decor) need updating but they were kept very clean. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. I would give it five after they renovated.
It was a great stay... The breakfast was my favorite part
Attended a conference. The room was a little small for the size of the gathering, but otherwise pleasant. Traffic leaving the parking lot made it difficult, would be nice if there was an additional exit.
Not too bad for the money. The hotel is aging, but still holds it's own...
The staff is top shelf, they are great communicators, and consistently seeking feedback.
Cookies & coffee in the lobby each evening was a bonus.

This place is dirty. The bathrooms are gross. I'm here for a conference this week and even the glasses on all the tables in the conference room are dirty and spotted. I found a glass that looked somewhat clean and poured a glass of water only to find something floating in the water. I had been looking forward to this week but now disappointed in the accommodations.
It was a good stay. Nothing too fancy, nothing too Run down. It did its job by providing a comfortable stay.
The only reason this Holiday Inn doesn't get a 5-star is because Door-2 on the side has a broken lock which is super unsafe. It probably doesn't help that I'm posting it but hopefully this adds some pressure to fix it. I ran into a person, assumed to be an employee, which stated that the door wouldn't be fixed for a few days...yikes.
Aside from the door issue, the hotel seems to be pretty solid. The hotel had the usual free breakfast, gym, indoor heated pool, ice and vending machines, lots of parking, and close to eats and gas.
Check-in and check-out were expedient and pleasant. The hotel is easy enough to get to from major highways.
Overall, a good couple of days off accommodations. I'll definitely be back when my next work trip comes back here.
Management if you fix the door, I'll be glad to edit the post for a top rating.
I highly recommend choosing a different hotel location in the area. I would never stay here again given the choice. Our room reeked of cigarette smoke the seconded you opened the door (This is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel). The room itself was in really rough shape from damaged furniture to stained carpets it just felt extremely unclean and grimy (Attached photos for reference of damaged furniture and stained carpets) but what was the worst and most disgusting part was the bed spread appeared to have what looked like dried semen on them (Again please feel free to look over all my attached photos) I will NEVER stay at this location ever again nor do I think I could bring myself to stay at another Holiday Inn ever again after this experience.
This hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. There was a misunderstanding about the cost of breakfast for our bridal party group, which took away from the big day, but the food was good and kids 12 and under always eat free, which was very nice. The room sizes were very large, which was nice. The elevators were rather slow at times, which was a little worrisome and delayed us a few times.
Room was nice and clean. Girlfriend and I slept on the pullout couch which I found moderately comfortable but she really liked it. We only stayed one night and spent most of our time outside the hotel in Salem so not much to say about hotel. Worth it though. Its also about 20 minutes, give or take, from the main area of Salem.
Bed was horrible, towels had brown stains on them and bathroom was gross.

Never ever again! The bed was a rock.. breakfast was nonexistent. The staff was rude and they charged us $360 for the second night because all the other hotels were full, I've been to Beautiful resorts owed by Holiday Inn that didn't charge this much! Too long of a story to explain, we love Holiday Inn but this one is just terrible
The pool is cold and they don't clean up the area around the pool or replace the towels!
only stayed for a night..condition of the room was worst than I expected. the blinds had some tears and wallpaper was ripping but if you're only staying for the night then it doesn't matter..wifi is extremely slow and no complimentary breakfast

nice hotel. they make you pay for your breakfast that is exactly the same as the cheap breakfast every other hotel gives you for free. beds could use upgrading. other wise nice location.
Pool was open, and clean . They ou allow 10 guest to the pool at a time which is perfect . Rooms were clean , and staff was friendly . The only thing is , they charge you a 100$ deposit, which immediately releases upon checkout , just to ensure you didn't smoke in the room, no damages , ect . Perfect if you're there for a short visit , but don't want to be directly in salem .
The experience was great, the room was very clean and linens were fresh. I really enjoyed the stay.
Front desk people were nice but the rooms were a little dated. There was no microwave or refrigerator. Every other Holiday Inn I've stayed at had at least a refrigerator. There are no USB outlets for charging phones and I couldn't find a vending machine for water. On the good side, house keeping kept the rooms clean and they were very nice. The guy in the restaurant at breakfast was nice and worked hard to keep the food fresh and hot. The gentleman at the front desk was always helpful and kind.

This is booked as a non-smokinf hotel, and yet on the fourth floor during our stay, guests were smoking. The stench permeated the hallway, and by morning, our room. Very disappointing.

Staff was amazing! I didnt realize that there werent any mini fridges in the room and i called the front desk and they brought one right up to my room! Super convenient that the restaraunt is right next and available to do room service through!

The worst experience. Front desk staff was sitting in the office upon check in. We thought maintenance man was getting her attention for us but he needed her. She was very apathetic and seemed disinterested in her job. Room was nasty. Looked like blood on carpet and there was an old refrigerator parkwd outside our door. Rust in tub. Woman who.checked us out was different than check in clerk but just as apathetic. Ankther guest let us go first becausehe wanted to avoid her and would rather wait for the other staff. Nasty experience. Stay clear at all costs.
Room was clean and staff is friendly and helpful. Five stars on those counts. A few things contributed to losing one star: The hotel looks and feels old and due for renovation, but we didn't encounter any specific issues related to age. The room lacked a microwave and fridge, my bad for not checking that when I reserved. There are many restaurants and shops near by, but getting to and from them is a hassle due to the layout of the roads.
Excellent hotel, beautiful rooms, lobby & indoor pool is so refreshing & relaxing, I love this place I also enjoy breakfast in the morning at their cute little restaurant, they offer a buffet or you can choose something from their menu butt I've enjoyed both for from the buffet and the menu so I have no complaints about this hotel at all. I've stayed here with my family multiple times and will definitely go back again!
The room was nice, large, and clean. I wish I could say the same about the rest of the hotel. The lobby was a nice, cool, comfortable temperature but anywhere else in the hotel was hot, muggy, and uncomfortable--inlcuding the elevators. The elevators were old and dingy and had an odor to them (similar to the muggy smell of the hallways). The pool was freezing and needed cleaned. The pool area also needed clean and had no towels which the front desk seemed annoyed we had asked for. The breakfast (which is apparently included in some rooms and not in others) was a standard continental breakfast (which for those with it not included it was $11 +tax). The staff were subpar. Nothing great to say for them and nothing major against them. Location was alright. Located directly on a busy highway which makes getting in and out difficult. 20-25min from Salem and 30min to Gloucester and Boston.

Thank you for replying and voicing your progress in your "renovations." I will admit I did not see any evidence of any renovations, so as a guest the hotel just seemed unkempt, so thank you for clarifying.
Your "buffet" consisted of eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, cereals/oatmeal, etc. So I fail to see the difference you're trying to explain. Other than a waiter serving drinks rather than getting them myself, it was exactly as any other continental breakfast I've ever had.
If you just installed a brand new heater for the pool last month you may want to considering including that in your "renovation" as it clearly does not work.

When booking our night here, we picked the wrong date. Once we realized the mistake, we called the hotel immediately (within 10 minutes) to switch the dates. The night we wanted was sold out and hotel refused to cancel the room/switch the dates that was mistakenly booked. This happened so fast and general manager Paul was not one bit accommodating. I still wanted to stay at your hotel Paul, just needed to switch the dates. He refused and stuck me with a $267 bill for a night I couldn t even stay at the place. This is an easy change for a manager and he just simply decided to be greedy on a day that he can get an extra booking (week of the World Series). Apparently this is how the Holiday Inn Peabody does business! Maybe this is what he s being taught by the Holiday Inn corporate/IHG?
I travel for business and always stay in Holiday Inns. Always very pleased. But this one was the first time I have been disappointed. Carpet in room was filthy and head board padding all scratched out. so I asked to be moved. Next room had filthy curtains and again, that headboard padding was all scratched out. The elevator smelled of vomit so used the stairs.
Plus bedding was yellowed & worn.
Big disgust.
Bed was very hard and springy.
No refrigerator. So the food I brought was wasted.
Ice machine didnt work.
Stain on the chair in the corner of the room looked like it had a cum stain on it.
Breakfast was poor. Very little choice. Watery scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes that weren't cooked all the way and cereal. Not my vision of a holiday inn. Definitely not holiday inn standards.

Over the long weekend we decided to rent a room here bc my father had a function here previously.. we order food next door great got the kids ready for the pool and unfortunately the pool was out of order the front desk new nothing about it,when she called the maintenance person his response was over the speaker "it's exactly what the sign says " meaning no pool and I asked for a ETA so maybe they could go swimming in the morning. But the man on the walkie talkie said they didn't no when the chemicals would be in.. that leads me to believe that someone didn't order the chemicals..in the winter and one of your main features is the pool you would think that would never happen, front desk accommodate us a quick check out and we went to another hotel 3min away.. where they could go swimming!!! Now we found our go to hotel for future along with a new place for fuctions..
Walked into a moldy smell in the room. Wet carpet and creaky mattress. Looks very dated. Need to upgrade.
Terrible stay, gave us a smoking fee when we never smoked in the room/hotel. Worst customer service and hotel stay i have ever experienced. Just looking to get an extra buck out of us. Stay somewhere else.
