The online hotel photos are not accurate and deceptive. Online has been referencing upcoming remodel for months. As a frequent IHG member, I was surprised IHG had neglected this tourist hotel so badly. The parking lot is in extreme disrepair, they still charge $11 for breakfast (exact same that Express offers for free), the bed sheets were stained and turned inside out on one bed, ceiling tiles old suspended style - stain and some broken, outlets with wrong faceplates but modified to cover, light outlets missing lights and open, pictures missing but nails still present, light switch functional but broken and pushed in, leather headboards extremely scratched up on both beds, ice machine out of order, bathroom dark, glue visible around tub fixtures, old 70s style decor. My reservation was for 3 people and 2 queens but 1 couldn t make it. I requested 1 king in lieu which was available but I still received 2 queens upon check in. The staff were nonchallant and didn t seem happy to work there. Made no attempt to even remedy sheets - just remade the bed - never changed during our whole stay. We left 1 day early despite being non-refundable. Not the worst stay but definitely not the best. IHG is not taking advantage of this great tourist locale to Salem by remodeling, changing business practices, and/or offering Shuttle Services at low cost to Salem.

Feels worse than a Holiday Inn Express.

Feels worse than a Holiday Inn Express.
Dated rooms with only 2 drawers.
Dark room.
Loud if you're facing main road.
Hard to access (one way street).
Furniture is broken and severely banged up. HVAC smells as if filters have not been changed.
No fridge in room (really??)
Breakfast is a holiday Inn express breakfast at $12/pp

No fridge no microwave. Never wright down the wifi password on the card. The people at the front desk clearly do not want to talk to you. Key cards constantly get deactivated when anyone in your company using the same credit card checks out. No continental breakfast not even free coffee. Been waiting on a fridge and a microwave now for 3 days of my 9 day stay and everyday I call down and ask them if they have one today and they always say we will put you on the list for one. I even agreed to pay $5 per for the fridge and $5 for the microwave per day and nothing yet... Really annoyed...

Had reservations for 4 nights. Showed up at 9pm after traveling all day from Seattle, and got our room key. Opened the door to our room and someone was already in that room! And we just strolled in with our key! Went to the front desk and told her someone was in that room and she said nobody should be in that room, how do people keep getting keys to these rooms?! ?!?! What does that mean??? She gave us free breakfast coupons, apologized and moved us to the last available room which I don t understand since the parking lot was mostly empty. We were in our room no more than 40 minutes, and I saw a f@$&ing MOUSE run across the floor!!! I went back down to the front desk and told her what I saw and that we d be checking out. She didn t even look surprised and I said did you know you had a rodent problem?! She just shrugged and said I thought they were gone. What?! What?! What?! Come on Holiday Inn!!! After having these reservations for over 5 months, we were left hunting for another hotel at 11pm.

Looking for a contact high? This is the place for you! Well I wasn't, just wanted a decent place to stay/sleep while renovations we're being done on my house. Switching rooms didn't help, second room smelled just as bad, I also noticed a long black hair on the bathroom sink and an electrical outlet without a plate over it (in the bathroom) Don't have to be an electrician to know how dangerous that is. Needless to say, I cancelled my reservation and never ran so fast from a place in my life :/

This hotel has some of the most rude staff. We were here for two nights and the rooms were decent but you had to ask for a refrigerator or a cot. The pool was over 100 degrees. There is no hot tub. The elevator was sweltering hot. Back to the rude staff the people in the breakfast room provided water and coffee in the lobby and they would yell at you for getting a FREE coffee. We did not enjoy this hotel at all and would never recommend going to stay at this hotel.

The hallways and elevator had no Air condition. There was no complimentary breakfast. Breakfast was $11. The facilities and hallways seemed outdated. The indoor pool water was extremely hot along with the air in the pool area. There was too much water on the floor surrounding the pool and several children fell. However the suite was nice

I normally really love Holiday Inn and have stayed...

I normally really love Holiday Inn and have stayed in many of them over the course of my travels. I recently went to Boston and wanted to stay a little bit out of the city both for price and convenience (I wanted to visit Salem while I was there) so I thought Peabody would be a good fit.

Upon arrival I was given a room number and checked in but the front desk clerks offered no other standard information that all hotel people give upon check-in. You know, "Check out is at 11, breakfast at 6-10, elevators over there." I just stood there awkwardly and asked where the elevator was. Whatever, that's fine.

We reached our room, many bags in hand and ready to be unloaded. We unlock our door to walk-in and find someone else's belongings in the room already! We had been given someone else's room and the key that allowed us entrance! I left my travel mate in the room to head downstairs and hoped that the occupant didn't return to find him in his room! That would have been a very awkward scene.

"Oh, I thought I locked you out already," the front desk clerk said. So we were finally given our real room.

The next day we returned from our full day out in Boston and to a concert to find our room key didn't work. So I trudged back to the front desk once again and was informed that they hadn't activated the key long enough. Fine, whatever, just an annoying hassle especially since we were exhausted from such a long day.

I give this hotel a 3 because it's not horrible, the room was pretty clean but the beds were extremely hard. I have never stayed in any Holiday Inn without a free breakfast either! What the hell is with that? I'm sorry but for $146 a night I should at least get some standard hotel-fare scrambled eggs, preservative-packed muffin, stale danish or at least a coffee! One of the elevators nearest our room was extremely slow to the point that we just gave up waiting for it and walked to the next one. Unfortunately we waited at the elevator long enough to hear someone loudly having sex in the room next to it. When we returned later the hallway reeked of pot from one of the rooms but that's no fault of Holiday Inn Peabody.

The Carrabbas next to the hotel was pretty subpar. It was my first visit to the chain but will probably be the last. This whole visit can just be summed up in two letters: O-K. I've stayed in worse, definitely, but if you're looking for a regular Holiday Inn experience... this one is a little different.

Well the night guy was great the first night. I really liked the staff until I needed a microwave. I asked if the front office would let me heat something up. The manager said he gave every microwave away even the employee one. That makes no sense. They were just being lazy and wouldn't help me.

Our 4 year old daughter loves decaf coffee, which is perfectly safe. My husband doesn't drink caffeine due to health reasons. At the buffet breakfast, he got a full cup of coffee for each of them. There we only 1 self-serve coffee container. It was clearly marked decaf. After they both finished their large cups, we heard 2 other guests, standing next to our table, ask the waiter for caffeinated coffee since there was only decaf. He told them 4 times that the coffee was labeled incorrectly and it was regular caffeinated coffee inside. He told them there was no decaf coffee made at all that morning. We told the woman at the front desk and she could not have cared less. It we disturbing how little she cared that a small child and a man with health issues had large cups of regular coffee without their knowledge. She didn't care about the possible repercussions and made no attempt to discuss things with the kitchen to correct the current problem or to try to prevent it from happening again. She took our information and had a supervisor call us later. He offered to refund us for breakfast. Considering the breakfast was free with the room, that was equivalent to blowing us off. Again. Everything about this situation is beyond unacceptable.

Pros

Pros

REALLY close to 95 so it s good getting to highway. Close to Boston and Salem and other major areas.

Cons

Elevator out of code. Floors super slick in shower and pool area. $3 soda in vending machine that was at complete opposite end of hotel. Noisy. Neighbors kept messing with door knob to our room (adjoining room)

I don t recommend due to their lack of concern for safety of guest both on elevator and in pool/shower.

I have not stayed at this hotel yet. I've made plans for my wedding party and guests to stay here after our reception. Unfortunately, this hotel is managed by people that don't understand anything about customer service. They have been making up the rules and changing the terms of our agreement since day 1. The most unprofessional thing I have dealt with in a long time.

The hotel is in renovations but is nice and quiet. The best part of our experience was the lovely gentleman who checked us in, Leonard. He was very friendly to us and everyone else that we heard him interact with. He told us his wife was the best cook in town when we asked him about dinner options nearby. Such a nice guy!

Unpleasant. Non-smoking room reeked of stale smoke. The door is super heavy and once it's unlocked, you need to push with all your strength because it's still kind of locked. The bathroom was clean and seemed to be updated, though. At least my shower was pleasant. I requested a room transfer but they were not able to accomodate me. I don'r think it was the front desk's fault; I blame the company.

My husband and I are Hilton Honor Members, I left my Fossil watch and pandora bracelet in the bathroom when we checked out. We called and reported it lost the same day and asked for our call to be returned asap. No call back. And apparently nothing was found. It s sad that a gift from my dead mother is now gone. I m ASTOUNDED.

Our group stayed over for 2 nights at this Holiday Inn. We had a great stay zero complaints! The staff was great - they were ready for us when we arrived and we were able to check in a large group in less than 5minutes.

Was very happy to receive a complimentary upgrade to a King suite for our family of 4 because they had overbooked the double twin bed room we had originally reserved. I felt we got a little lucky on that otherwise unfavorable scenario. The Front desk staff were busy when we arrived to check in, but professional and attentive regardless. They acknowledged us immediately and apologized for our short wait time. Overall our stay was just fine for our weekend visiting Salem (which is just a short drive away). Desk service was friendly and professional, room was clean and spacious and the breakfast was a delicious.

In desperate need of the renovations scheduled for next month. The next door restaurant is now closed. Our room smelled musty and the location is a bit suspect. The front desk staff are pleasant and very accommodating...even after we checked in and then checked out 30 minutes later. To be fair, I think the upgrade to the new Holiday Inn model will be a huge improvement. Good things take time.

Stopped at this motel recently on a trip to Salem, toilet was not working right, funky odor in hallway, questionable clientele, but worst of all, no free continental breakfast. After we ventured out for dinner, we found several other motels, Hampton Inn, County Inns and Suites, etc, so if traveling through area, bypass this Holiday Inn Express as there are more motels further up the strip.

Booked a king bed and ended up with a double full. They did make good on price but it was a king bed that we booked. Room had a leak and the ceiling, curtains and overstuffed chair and some carpet wet. Room should not have been booked to anyone.

Very disappointed in this hotel. The rooms seem like they haven't been updated in many, many years. The beds are creaky and uncomfortable. The lady at the front desk- Diann- was very rude and short with us when we checked in. Did not even make eye contact. Hotel smells like mildew. Rates are unreasonable. Stayed in much nicer Holiday Inns.
