We stayed at the property for 3 nights. The first night we came back late, used our own wipes to wipe down all of the common surfaces, and found the room to be dirty in those areas, just like other properties we have visited. However, we also noticed a dirty toilet and a dirty wall next to the sink. There was toothpaste and toilet paper stuck to the wall. We cleaned all of the areas as it was late. The next day I let the front clerk know of the dirtiness. She apologized, but did not really offer any discount as we did the cleaning. Unacceptable. Also, and this is not the fault of the service staff, the faucet has been installed so close to the edge of the sink that you cannot properly wash your hands without splashing the water everywhere and touching the sink. Either the faucet needed to be installed few inches closer to the sink, or the faucet needed to be much longer. That's the bad. For the good, the outside tiki bar offered great space to be outside. The outside pool was open, but loud with many kids enjoying the water. The food at the Burger Theory is mediocre. Eat elsewhere. There is a great brewery a 3 minute walking distance from the property that offers much better food. If you are planning on using a ride sharing app or a taxi to get to downtown, at this time, it is non existent. We thought we could walk the 1.5 miles, but it involves walking bridges and unsafe pathways. You will need to drive to get to the center of Grand Haven.

Our stay here is one of the worst hotel experience...

Our stay here is one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. This place is noisy! They allow dogs in the rooms and as I write this, there is some little yapper barking up a storm right across the hall. There is a bar outside in the pool area which is advertised as having live music every night but Mon and Tuesday. We checked in on a Sunday and had to listen to lousy, loud music till about 9:30. When the music stopped, the drunks picked up on the noise duty. During the mornings, there were maintenance and housekeeping staff joking around in the halls being far too loud for a Hotel. The food service is mediocre, at best. There is nothing special about the menu or food preparation. Ask a question? The servers never knew the answer and had to go find a manager for an answer. One example is we asked what the fish being served was. Who knew? To her credit, the manager did eventually come over and let us know.
The room was nice enough, and the staff was polite and helpful when asked a question. Employee's behavior is set by the management. Every aspect of this place is noisey, and even the malfunctioning soda machine has not been fixed in four days.
I would NOT stay here agin!

Do not book. Please. The service had an attitude with everything we asked, we had to call for house keeping, no exaust fan in bathroom, only some rooms have "beach" view (it's just a runoff). The resturant was good though. That's the best part. And the pools. But that's it. 1/5.

My friends and I decided to make a trip over to grand haven and thought this hotel was the best choice for us all. that was until we got there. let s just say we have stayed in air bnb s for a lot less that were a lot nicer. online it said they had indoor and outdoor pools and the pictures of the rooms looked amazing. while trying to check in they told us it would be a 10-20 minute wait for our room, so we went and grabbed coffee and came back and after 30 minutes passed our room still was not ready. We then waited another hour before we got to our room. when we got to our room it looked nothing like the pictures online. the room was tiny, the bathroom tub didn t drain, and the lights in the bathroom didn t turn on. I paid extra to be right next to the two pools which when we went to the indoor pool we found out it was closed. I understand COVID changes things but I paid full price for a nicer hotel in the area so my friends and I could use the amenities and I was never told beforehand about certain things being closed.
when we went to the front desk to explain our problems with the room and check in, the lady at the front desk was very rude and only gave us two drink tickets for the bar and 10% off the restaurant. what am I supposed to do with 10% off? ridiculous. will never be staying here again. feels like i got scammed.

We checked in to the Grand Haven-Spring Lake Holiday Inn on 8/13/2019, we checked out on the 14th, not realizing until that night that I left my dental appliance(expensive!) on the bathroom counter! I made 2 calls almost begging them to recheck the room, laundry, anything to find the appliance...happily I received a call from Steve(?) saying they found it and would be mailing it back the next day! Thank everyone who assisted on this lost piece!!!!

Excellent hotel, amazing location, excellent service, and very clean! I travel to Grand Haven for business often, and this is my go to hotel. I always read the reviews before I post and I have to respond to Tiffany Shealy's review.
Ms. Shealy's review is ignorant and without merit. She state the hotel is located on a busy road that is hard to turn left out of during rush hour. All hotels want and need to be on a busy road, that is the nature of business. She has a hard time turning left during Spring Lake rush hour, come on, what if you were in a metro city with real rush hour traffic? And if you can't turn left, be reasonable and turn right and go around the block. Then she states there are no microwaves and no "grab and go" breakfast (must really enjoy free stale bagels), and in the same sentence state there is a restaurant attached. You do see the ridiculousness of complaining about this, correct? You can't have microwaves and "grab and go" and then have business to support the restaurant.
On top of all this, please stay at all, (very limited options) the other hotels in Grand Haven/Spring Lake, as I have, then form your opinion.
Your lack of thought and travel naivety is unhelpful to fellow travellers and libels the good folks that work at this very nice hotel.

There is a great Jimmy Buffet style band called Two Dudes in Flip Flops that plays on the lawn of the Tiki Bar at Jack's in the Spring Lake Holiday Inn on Thursdays during the summer. They are loads of fun, and have a loyal following. Spending a night listening to them is a great way to kick off a summer weekend.

Place was awesome! Clean, quiet, and relaxing, would definitely stay again.

Had to change this review based on my last stay. Horrible experience which lead to me leaving 2 days early and going to Grand Traverse instead. I don't have any words for the way I was treated.

Front counter service was professional and polite....

Front counter service was professional and polite. We had a room on the 1st floor which appeared clean. Inside pool also appeared clean. The main attraction for us to stay at this hotel was location and the pool. This was our 2nd visit and I am not sure we will stay again.

After we arrived home after a weekend stay, I discovered 3 of my children had bites of some sort all over their legs and arms. They were red, swollen and extremely itchy. We did not venture outside of the hotel for the weekend. I called to report the issue and it was blown off like it was no big deal because no one else had reported a similar situation. Not a happy camper!

Also the fire alarm went off multiple times for over an hour early Saturday morning putting everyone in a panic. There was nothing said from the staff to put us at ease. Staying on he 1st floor was a bad idea because of the traffic to and from the pool...it was extremely loud as the kids were up and down the hallway. Then the noise from outside the sliding door as people were leaving. We were subjected to listening to a couple fighting using foul language screaming at each other. And speaking of the sliding door - it took 3 adults to slide the door closed because it was broken. Overall bad experience.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THE MANAGEMENT. Came to the hotel for wedding seminar. The hotel was pleasant enough, however, we did run out of coffee. When we asked the nice young lady at the front desk, she was very helpful and extremely friendly. A gentleman, Brandon I believe his name was, stormed out of the back room and began to yell at her for refilling our coffee. He yelled quite loudly in the lobby and was being very degrading to her. He stated that he "Didn't care about what we needed" He seemed quite upset that he couldn't figure out how to use the computers up front. If this is the best example of how the hotel treats not only their guests but also their employees, I will never be staying here or supporting this kind of business. Very disappointing and demeaning.

The rooms are dirty and smelly and for the price you pay you should expect a nice clean room! Our family paid extra for a marina view room but to our surprise there was a wedding taking place right outside our room and it was LOUD. They said we wouldn t notice but we could hear the Music and guests talking clear as day as we were trying to put our kids to sleep. Not a place we will visit again. Not worth the $$

Meh. Rooms are tired and shabby. We had a striking view of a parking lot. Felt like staying at a truck stop motel. The front desk staff are fine, but not trying very hard. The pool and bar are great! The outdoor eating area is nice too. Food quality was excellent. It s also a marina with some really impressive boats.

Nice area, convenient location. Food good. Hotel too expensive for pretty shabby conditions. Hotel itself is outdated and fairly dirty. Our feet were black from walking on the carpet in our room ..after bathing! They lost reservation; but "found" a room..then charged my Cc for the "lost" reservation ..so was charged twice. Unfortunate that the site itself is not taken better care of, pretty shabby place. Would not return.

Very nice view and no loud music so we could carry on a nice conversation. Our waitress was right on point and was always there if we needed her, but not overly attentive. Food was very good also. I used to work there a long time ago and it's still a good place to go
