"True strength is when you can break a bar of chocolate into four pieces with your bare hands then just eat one." Unknown
I'm not sure if there's any truth to this statement, but I suspect that Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka character was heavily influenced by Milton S Hershey. Because here in Hershey they know how to blend candy with cheesy family entertainment and somehow pull it off. I mean who else can have a marching band followed around by people wearing candy costumes just randomly show up and start playing in the middle of a store? Only Hershey.
Unfortunately I visited Chocolate World during the off-season so the amusement park part of this attraction was closed. However the store with all the chocolate was still open, and that alone was worth a trip. Here a few highlights:
-The (simulated) Chocolate factory tour ride reminds me of something from Chuck E Cheese complete with animatronic cows and candy. Despite the goofiness of the ride I did find it semi-educational as they take you through the chocolate-making process step-by-step.
-Speaking of candy this place is filled with every candy imaginable and in flavors one would never expect. Be sure to check out the giant-sized candy bars available for sale. I'm def going to get one next time for scientific purposes, of course. I'm curious if they can replicate the taste and texture of the orginal in a giant size. The things we do for science...
I'll try and make it back on my next visit to Central PA to check out the amusement section, but either way this place is a must see for candy and chocolate lovers. It's the Mecca of Cacao, imho.
#HersheyChocolateWorld!!!! I loveeeee Chocolate!!!! Amazing and total FUN!!!! #KidSpirit #LivingAndLovingLife #LiveYourBestLifeAndEnjoyLife!!!!! #KidAtHeart
If you're a chocoholic, well this place is where you need to be! Loved it!
While we miss the TRUE factory tours of our youth, this place is great for a short day of fun!
Prices of some of the shows are a bit high.
Who doesn't love chocolate? So many different things to do, a little tour, make your own chocolate etc. Shopping a definite must! Always enough to take home! Love it! We come once a year!
Had a lot of variety of gifts and shopping. Just went to shop. Loved all the different kinds of chocolate. Could've spent more. The food was delicious and you got plenty of it for the price.
Family. Fun. Free. Hershey Chocolate World is great. Educational tour, free chocolate at the end, and the option of a 3D movie, it will be an unforgettable experience.
Small ridee inside displaying the history of the company, could probably do with some updating. Main very much feels like a large store with a few attractions tacked on.
Always clean, well maintained. A treat for young and old alike.
Liked the location and their Chocolate Tour. Found most of the stuff over priced with few exceptions. Good place for family and kids
Entertaining and delicious stop for the family. Our 3 and 5 year olds enjoyed the experience, specifically, the chocolate.
If you have a stroller or have limited mobility forget trying to go here! The store is split level with a few steps to get up to the large area where most of the candies and trinkets are displayed. You have to physically leave the store walk/stroll around the corner and go in through their second entrance to get to that level as they don t have a ramp inside. I wanted to buy some items but the cash on that level was closed and was told I d have to leave the store and return through the other level to pay. I said forget it. Because not only was it a huge inconvenience to leave and return, their doors don t have a handicap button so just getting in and out of the door is an issue. Two big thumbs down for this store. The selection wasn t that great either and everything (shirts, key chains, jars etc. - maybe not the actual chocolate) was made in China. After the huge inconvenience getting in and around the store I didn t feel like paying $18.00 for a key chain that was made in China.
Great place to shop for chocolate and other things to do
A fun place to be expected when i almost fell out of the fariswheel because the door broke off
Went early morning hoping to avoid rush. Never got to ride thru as line was massive. Even lines to bathroom was too long to wait. Spent $100 at gift shop and left.
I've been there quite a few times. You can have a good time without spending any money.
Fun and full of delicious chocolate. The kids loved it and had a blast. Staff here are very nice. It was a good learning experience for the kids on how their sugary treats were made.
The trolley tour is a must to do .. others is very entertaining, and shop till u drop all hershey product lines in here ..
I absolutely loved it here!
Came from houston to visit and I had a great time with my buddy's.
The rollercoasters are to die for (HA)
Dont forget to do the tour of the factory you definitely wont regret it! Except, maybe your body will :)
Love Hershey Park! Always have a great time when we are there!
This was my first visit to chocolate world and I was not disappointed.
A lovely little place to go before heading to Hersheypark but I'm not sure you could make a day of it.
Hershey s Chocolate World, Pennsylvania
A huge chocolate mall with amazing educational Chocolate Production Tour. Hershey Town Trolley Tour. 4D Chocolate Movie. Chocolate tasting experience. And awesome make your own chocolate bar fun at Hershey Kitchen. Great enjoyment !!
Always fun! But their products are max retail price. It is free to park and ride the chocolate ride, but you'll paying it other ways -- activities, food, and retail prices.
Great place "MUST" visit. Great product and very community oriented company
Book in advance online. Good for kids. It's expensive for a low grade attraction
Fun place for kids, great selection of gifts, great atmosphere.
Complete surprise! I had really low expectations coming to this place, It's a bit of a drive away from everything and I doesn't seem like an interesting place. I was wrong it's a fun experience with a free visit of the chocolate making process telling you about the history of Hershey. The origin of the city and the chocolate testing gave me a new appreciation of how to enjoy chocolate in a more in depth way.
Historical experience for the whole family on how the Hershey company is an American icon that will last for eons.
I do not like what Hershey has done with chocolate world. So impersonal now. Boo Hershey for ruining an age old family tradition at christmastime!!
Great fun !! Make your own candy is must do when you are there
Hi I am a 11 year old girl and I love Hersey I have been going here sense I was very little and it s awesome the only reason I am giving it a 4 star review is because about the Hershey s unwrapped it was not educational and it went really fast and it was not the best show now the only thing similar to something before was Hershey s chocolate tasting now that was amazing and we got to actually sit down with table and chairs and it was very educational and appealing now back to the Hershey s unwrapped my opinion is that I did not really like it and it was not amusing to any group age of audience I have no hate to Hersey but this Hershey s unwrapped you might wanna change that back to what it was like in my opinion Thanks! From Emoree
Great candy prices and a wonderful souvenir selection.
Favorite place to be. We are season pass holders and drive 2 hours every other weekend
Have to stop here at least once in your life. Bring a fat wallet !
Nice and educational told you all about the history of Hershey park and how the Hershey bar was born
I felt like a kid in a candy store, which is pretty accurate considering it is THE candy storw.
Lots of candy bars and most importantly, chocolate!
Was told not to come home without HERSHEY Hershey's Kisses. Really crowded.
The redesigned ride isn't as nostalgic as when I was a kid but it's still a great place to go. I recommend getting the milkshake flight.
This is a local gold mine for a relatively inexpensive (if you can skip the gift shop!) place to take the kids. It offers a free chocolate world tour ride. The 4 star rating comes from the food court. The lines are a bit confusing, and the electronic menu screen kept changing.. You can get a kids meal hotdog with apple sauce and a drink for $5, but they soak you for adult fare. I would have had to pay around $13 for a pork BBQ sandwich and a hot side. Instead I got a bowl of Loaded Baked Potato Soup, a roll and a drink for $9. You are permitted to pack a lunch and eat outside as well. For additional costs, you can watch a 4D animated movie, make your own chocolate bar, or have a chocolate taste testing, the latter of which I could have probably skipped. You basically get 4 pieces of different chocolates to sample, and any educational value can be found in the tour/ride. The best part was, also at an additional charge, taking a (yes, air conditioned) trolley tour of Hershey. Our tour guide, who gave an interesting history of Milton Hershey and his empire, was patient and kind with our 4th grade kiddos. Would do that tour again in a heartbeat. The bottom line is that if you plan it right, and you have your "no button" on, you can take the kiddos for an afternoon and keep your bank account intact. It can also get extremely crowded and the acoustics can be overwhelming for a kid with sensory issues. The best time is to go in the winter when the crowds are smaller.
Fun Roller Coaster lines took too long, but worth it.
One of the most amazing theme parks I have ever visited!!!
It is a great fun place for children of all ages. Most joke I didn't see a single frown or sad face the entire evening. Fun for all.
Best time to visit is during week days. Less crowded!
Pretty amazing. We stopped on our way home from MA, & weren't prepared for the size, but there hardly any at any store inside, and no waiting for the free tour!
Chocolate bar making experience is neat, but overpriced. Do not plan to eat there as service is painfully slow even for simple items like ice cream
Dreadful line to chocolate tour was over 1 hrs wait, we left. Place was packed no social distancing. Line to pay for merchandise was 30 min. I'm not a line person but if you are its the same old chocolate world
Absolutely outstanding. We enjoy our trip, but the trolly car was very interesting to hear all about Mr Hershey and the history behind it . Would have loved to get a book about it and info. I have been wanted to do this for some time. I'm A chocolate lover.
Great place to start and end your visit at Hershey Park. Take the tour and get some free chocolates at the end of the tour. Lots of items on sale from clothing to toys to chocolate of course. If you're hungry they have a large cafeteria. Lots of parking and the buliding is clean and nicely decorated.
The best of wet and dry fun all in one place. Outstanding food and drink options. Revisit is a must.
Very nice and I saw when I waited in a line the carts were constantly coming in for every cart 2 employees would come in with a brand new wipe and WIP everything. While it did make it take a few seconds longer I was willing to wait that for my safety. Hand sanitizer stations everywhere.
Neat things for children, great history lesson though it has changed to all
Perfect place for chocolate lovers ,and to bring kids. The special tours are quite exciting and interesting. And tons of souvenirs you can take home...
Fun fun and more fun. Interesting history, prices are high, the trolley tour is worth the trip. All the chocolate treats cost more here than at your local grocer.
I love this place! Lines went so fast for the amount of people. The chocolate college was really fun too.
The admission aka the parking is free for thr first 3 hours.
Schedule in advance on the activities you want go sign up for. If you just walk in they tickets will most likely be sold out.
That happened to us but a staff member worked some magic and got us through the Build a candy bar. That was the main attraction we wanted to see. It was well worth the wait.
Really goofy, but a fun little tour, and LOTS of candy and goodies to buy!
Great place to stop to see a few cool things! Definitely lots of delicious chocolate and other Hershey's candies, but other stuff is a little pricey. The ride is free and always fun to see how it's all made. Usually busy.
So cool!!! We seen the 4D movie and they have simply everything Hershey's chocolate u could think of...
Tourist trap. The free ride talks about how Hershey chocolate USED to be made BEFORE they moved it all to Mexico.
Hershey's Chocolate World is the greatest because number one it's a free ride and then do a little retail shopping and take in the Hershey holiday lights if you're there during that season. Parking is free up to 3 hours
Took our toddler for the tour. There were way too many people for me. Staff was always helpful and very pleasant. Maybe next time during the winter when school is in session...
We went there on my vacation and my family did not want to come home, we had a wonderful time.
Delicious!!! Well received with proper distancing and masks required. Time restrictions keep things moving. Well done
I enjoyed the ride through Hershey history! It was cute!
Absolutely best experience in Hershey! Great family experience!
