For the past 6 years I wanted to book my staying. Always something and I postpone. but I visit hotel facilities before and I thought it could be amazing. Finally I have time to book 5 nights ( thanks good just 5 nights). I usually take around 8 vacations year round plus travel to work. At least twice a month I am at hotels for minimum 3 nights. This time I come with my family of 4. 2 kids ( 14 and 6 boys). Paid about $2,300.00 including resort fee. I am at sunset village. ( 2 bedrooms apt). All furniture are outdated. Bathrooms VERY small. House clean just come because I paid extra 35 per day. And she didn t clean much. They never load room with toilet paper, dishwasher soap or paper tower. I booked a cleaning for Sunday and 9 am they were at my front door. ( very inconvenient for a Sunday). The mattress in my room 5077 was the least expensive you can buy. In the middle of the night me and my husband were sleeping in a hole. Our backs are destroyed. For me cleaning is mandatory, especially if you are in a good hotel. I left my comforter house to stay in a impressive hotel. Not the case here. Staff are ok. At the pool you need to wait longe time to get a drink. ( people work hard there but not enough staff to cover high demand). Drinks are expensive there. 36 dollars for a 32 oz margarita. Be prepared. The pool Is 24 hours open. , Lagon in great. Dolphins are amazing and well training. Paid 580 for 4. Plus $160 pictures. After 3 rd day we were boring there and decide to visit key west to spend time. As I said I visit many hotels year round and I like to stay in the best of best. I don t mind to pay for my family comfort. I asked on my checking in, if this one was the best room type at hotel and the receptionist said it was one of the bests . I can t imagine the other ones. This one I will qualify as 2 stars hotel room and 4 outside hotel. Needs updates for sure. And better cleaning services.

The villas are comfortable with a good view of the sea. The staff is excellent always with a smile. The biggest problem is that they still had not opened all that this place offers since they were under reconstruction after the hurricane in 2017.

We rented a sunset villa in February. The villas are advertised as having sunset views. There are, however, a few villas (5001-5004) that form an L off of this row that do not have a sunset view from the deck. They have a water view and then you see Route 1 in the distance. We were in one of these villas and as such had to go outside and walk about 50 feet to have such a view. It seems they should not charge as much for this row and should advertise these as a villas with a partially obstructed sunset view. The second bedroom with a queen bed was extremely small - both of us had to enter and exit from one side of the bed because it had to be up against a wall to fit. The furnishings inside the home were not in good shape. Stains and cracks ... a bed footboard that wasn t fully attached to the bed. The screens on the porch had tears/rips in them. The tiles on the kitchen floor were cracked. The cleaning crew had left the fridge partially open so it was room temperature when we arrived. The ice maker in the freezer was off so we had to wait quite awhile for ice. The kitchen came with bare bones essentials and a frying pan with a loose handle. Nice appliances but rough looking cabinets. No salt or pepper. No coffee filters. We spent our first day by the pool and ordered poolside service. The food came before our drinks. The drinks, when they finally arrived after we finished our lunch, were watered down. The Angler and Ale restaurant forgot to enter one of our party s dinner entrees and it took 20 minutes for a server to ask us how our meal was to inform anyone one of our entrees was missing. They comped that entree but that individual started eating when others had finished. For the price point we expected more. The location is great. The amenities are nice. But the villa s lack of polish and the poor service leave a lot to be desired.

I thought the resort was gorgeous, It was are first time to Florida keys, I was so disappointed in how they cleaned are room, It was dirty in tub and there was end tables had glass on them never was cleaned, Until I did it myself. Where the water came out the tub whole thing wasnt even mounted to wall. Floors in are room was fifty we took a white towel run on the floor in bathroom it was black and this was after they claimed they had cleaned we never went barefoot in that room. And one day they didnt even make bed or did we have fresh towels. Then someone came up put board under the sink, Not long after he left it fell and just missed my foot it still was in floor when we left. When we was checking out. They ask my husband how was your stay, He told her we was not happy with there services, All she said was we are sorry. Really you dont spend money to go to resort and clean and make your own beds. Theres alot more I could add, But came down to one thing it was all about your money, not about fixing problems they have with there staff. Ive stayed better Hotels that was better than there resort staff.

When we first arrived, the villa we originally boo...

When we first arrived, the villa we originally booked (sunset village) was not what we expected. It was dirty, there were dead bugs by the living room, the stairs and the railings were filthy. When we checked the rooms upstairs, the master had animal hair all over the "cleaned" sheets. We have an eight month old baby and we weren't going to risk putting him on those sheets so we went back to the reception and requested to be moved to another room, we wanted a family room in the actual resort at that point but unfortunately none were available so we were given a different villa (the marina village). When we got there, it seemed to be cleaner/in better condition up until we pulled down the covers, there was disgusting stains on the sheets, the carpets were gross, and the guest bathroom was clogged. Also there were 2 phones, one in the master bedroom and the other one in the living room and neither of them worked, the WiFi didn t even work and there wasn t even service/signal on our cell phones. We managed to contact the reception again but there was nothing they could do at that time and they were going to let the manager know about our situation. At this point, we just requested additional sheets and we went to our nearest Walgreen to purchase blankets for our us, our kids and baby.

The next day we went back and spoke with the manager and he offered us another room, we asked to see that room prior to making a decision on whether or not to switch at that point, well that room was in even worse conditions!! It literally hadn t been cleaned since the last guest checked out, there was garbage everywhere, dirty towels, beds were a mess, old wristbands left on the counter, you could tell housekeeping had not even gone in that room since the last guests left. We checked that room multiple times hours apart giving them the benefit of the doubt, it hadn t been cleaned from the morning when the manager offered us the room up until 7pm at night, at that point we went back and spoke to Jason again and told him what happened and that we were just going to stay at the same villa we were in since the other room he tried giving us wasn t even ready, he apologized and said there must ve been a glitch in the system and that he would ve never sent us to that room if he knew it wasn t made ready.

Our experience was not what is expected when staying in a resort of this caliber, it definitely did not meet the standards. We would expect these sorts of incidents from a motel, not a luxury resort. This was not our first time staying at Hawks Cay, we ve never experienced something like this there or at any resort we ve ever been to before.

The villas were nice, the food left a LOT to be desired, the staff was pleasant, and there were quite a few swimming options. The dolphin viewing area looks to be boarding animal cruelty if that matters to you.

The hotel facilities are very good, in the complex you breathe an air too elitist and charge for everything, restaurants too expensive for quality, there are no other options where to eat or drink something less than 15 or 20 km in Marathom

Included events are a joke. Don't be even a minute late, or you'll miss the event.

They don't update their daily event list when something changes, and they don't have an event coordinator to let people know there is a change. We wanted to see what the "movie at the pool" was all about. We showed up exactly at 8:00pm, per the calendar, since we already learned the hard way that you will miss anything when you're even 1 minute late. There was a large group waiting by the pool, and about 10 minutes after, someone went to the towel check out and asked what was going on. Found out it was too windy, so they moved the portable screen inside at a location that wasn't easy to find. THEN, after all that, they played Black Beauty...from the '80s...they could have at least done something like Monster's Inc, something a little more current that people of all ages could enjoy.

The adult only pool was nice, but don't be late to the drink of the day event, or you'll miss the 15, 1/2 ounce (communion size cups) samples that they made to go around the pool for the 30 people that are there. Think they'll make some more... absolutely not!

The Angler and Ale under cooked my burger, I asked for medium well and got medium rare. My husband asked for medium and also got medium rare. This is a restaurant on site at the resort.

The buffet was way over priced for the type of food offered. We went into town to eat for the rest of our meals.

A majority of the staff seemed to be disheartened, they were polite, but you could tell they were not happy. Also, they were more worried about opening the door for you coming in from the pool then they were about insuring that you were able to partake in an event.

The rooms were very nice, as were the grounds in general. But the place is way over priced for what is offered and for the amenities, especially considering the daily resort fee.

Don't waste your time/money here, you can go on a cruise for less!

We had a room with two queen beds. The room was large with a balcony and bathroom. A coffee maker and refrigerator are included. There is a hotel fee per day for WiFi, towels by the pool, bicycles, kayak and standup paddling in addition to the room rate. Breakfast can be booked optionally for $ 25. In the mini market or bistro you can also buy everything for a small breakfast.

Will never go to Hawks cay again they booked our room on third floor with a broken elevator the room was not clean we had no shampoo or conditioner you can get that stuff at a much cheaper place nothing was available for most of our stay. We had to move rooms because of a huge crack in our tub and when we got to the knew room it smelled like cat pee and they told us we would have to deal with it because of covid they will not clean the room while its occupied. We were told they would refund us the resort fee but that was a lie. I will never spend my money there again I can promise you that.

Beautiful resort but the free self parking is ridiculously small and not close. Was not informed about the daily resort fee prior to booking. The reef snorkeling was terrible, I didn't see any beautiful coral or any brightly colored fish (a dead reef). Wasn't expecting it to be a "family" resort but thank goodness there was an adult only pool area which was very nice and secluded. The cost of the dolphin encounter was a bit much for the amount of time spent in the water.

Gorgeous Hotel! The staff was very friendly but did not always have the answers to my questions. Def on Island time...which was a nice change from my busy life. Could work on making sure employees have knowledge of grounds, hours of operation of restaurants, etc.

The villa we stayed at was nice enough. The master bath didn t drain well which was annoying for taking a shower. The big problem came when I was woken early in the morning with incessant hammering that went on for over two hours! thank G-d we were leaving that day because I was losing my mind! For $450 a night, I felt that was unacceptable.

Hello, I hardly ever write a bad review, but the hotel is nothing like it used to be. For starters the food was terrible, starting with the quality of the breakfast buffet, to the lunch and dinner menu. Food was cold and bad.

The rooms do not have all the amenities they used to have and 5 minutes after checkout, they de-activate access to your room, so for a $300 night, 4pm cgeck-in and an 11am check-iut, 5 minutes after, you are not allowed in n your room.
Needless to say, I wont be back after coming for the last 5 years.

We had a great time at Hawks Cay! The room was clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed the adult area pool, was quiet and relaxing. The service and food was good. I recommend pre-booking evening meals to avoid a wait at the restaurants.

If you bring your boat , beware what they dont tell you on the website is that the ramp opens at 7am and closes at 5 pm Leaving you no way to get your boat out of the water. We cancelled our stay immediately. The lady at the dock said if we get in late we would just have to tie up to the mangrove patch and retrieve our boat in the morning. You gotta be kidding me !!! Thats illegal one it could cause damage to the ecosystem Two we are there to fish the flats in the early morning n late evening. Front desk was no help. Go n enjoy the Keys else where unless you want to be told what to do. We will never go the Hawks Cay ever again Thank you for reading hope you dont have to endure the same scenario we did

I don t write many reviews but this experience was so bad, I have to warn folks. We moved out early. Dirty rooms, roaches, no parking, cheap construction, uncomfortable beds and couches, and false advertising regarding marina. Reservation people said our boat would be behind our rental unit in Harbour view. Turns out no one is allowed to dock there. Worse, the Dockmaster didn t honor our slip reservation. She told me to come back in a few days and check with them for vacant boat slips . The trailer parking is a mud pit. Angler and Ale, didn t answer phone for take out orders.
When we checked out, the three families in line in front of us were all complaining about the same kinds of issues. Hawks cay gets one star because the pool bar was cool and the Bartender Ricky was great.

Under staff.
, Manager ignored my request for 3 days now. PAtio hottub converted to a freezing puddle pool, broken items, 5gallon hot water heater. The place is a RIP off. Poor employees over worked, but still had a smile
That's what the 1 star is for. A 4ounce Bacardi rum runner, $24.0 plus tip. . .Will never return!

So, first impression upon arrival the place looks ...

So, first impression upon arrival the place looks amazing, but then getting to our rooms/villas was another story. My now husband and I were getting married while we were down there and my entire family was with us. So we had 3 villas my mom had booked. Well they had set up one all nice with special stuff for the bride and groom but neglected to find out if they gave them that villa, which they didn't. I was really upset, being it is my one and only wedding and I had to miss out on all the extras of feeling special and pampered. Thats just not okay considering the money you spend on this place. We did get a villa, but it was FILTHY! There was food stuck on ALL of the "clean" dishes, there was dust caked all over the walls and ceiling of the master bathroom and even after complaining about that, they ordered a "complimentary" deep clean and low and behold, they NEVER cleaned it. It was disgusting. I felt bad for my mom who spent quite a pretty penny on this place and this is what you get. It was GROSS! The ONLY reason I gave it two stars is because the resort by the pool and lagoon are beautiful and Brennan and Peggy were amazing people, otherwise I would recommend spending your money elsewhere!

1st time at Hawks Cay for Father's Day weekend 2020.

Was told resort was operationg at 50% capacity. The place was packed!!
Arrived at 4 pm waited over an hour in line to check in only to be told our room was not ready.
Some guests from the pool walking through the main lobby were NOT wearing masks, shoes, shirts or keeping social distancing. Designated enter and exit signs not followed. No staff inforcing the Covid-19 rules. Didn't see a cleaning crew wiping down door handles & restrooms regularly to sanitize. Securty at guard gate was only there some times?

Repair man came, wore his dirty shoes up the carpeted stairs and into our bathroom. Who's disinfecting that now?
We moved into the Harbor villa that had a broken laundry door that nearly fell on my wife trying to do laundry. I removed it and left it off to the side. No outside patio light to enjoy at night? Didn't even bother to complain at this point.

I was unhappy with the out of tune staff and scared of the lack of Covid-19 sanitary procedures. They have to do better inforcincing COVID-19 rules. Have the repair staff wear proper sanitizing protection or send a cleaning crew after the repairs are done.
Dosen't seem like they were prepaired to open safely. We had 2 childeren with us.
Not worth risking the lives of guests to make a profit.

Nice resort. Rented a two bedroom townhouse. 4 pools with 1 for adults only. Nice splash pool area for kids. Was not impressed with food options at Hawks Cay or on Duck key. We cooked in the townhouse and drove to other keys to dine out mostly. Dolphin experience was cool and kids loved it.

Not worth the money. The beach around the lagoon is filled with people blasting their music like you were at a public beach. Don't get me wrong I like that sometimes but not when you are trying to get away and are paying top dollar. The pool was filthy on the adult only side and the other pool was packed with tons of kids. We saw waiters bringing drinks around but none ever checked on us. Breakfast restaurant was under staffed and took forever to get our food two days in a row. Massage prices were ridiculous for the mediocre one I received. Not the getaway we were looking for for the high price tag. They also never responded to my constructive feedback.

Disappointing. The resort takes full advantage of their location and nice weather by over-pricing the facility and the services. We stayed here several years ago and were very impressed. We expected the same level of quality upon our return and were disappointed. There was mold in the shower (The housekeeping manager was very apologetic and sprayed it down with disinfectant immediately. She was super ). The drinks were too strong to be enjoyed and are expensive. The breakfast tasted a lot like dish soap, was not edible and like everything else was expensive. - - - Worst of all, was the complete indifference at the front desk.

Poorly ran resort. Niceness of resort staff is hit and miss. The check in people could care less about efficiency or explaining what the resort has to offer. Highlight was our waitress at the pool by the Tiki bar - she was fantastic (Lacy). Too bad the management doesn t expect this out of all of their employees. Our whole experience could have been so much better if employees were more considerate.

Had some issues with our reservation but finally taken car of by Kate. Hope to add more stars after our trip.

Here's two more well deserved stars.
Returned yesterday from the Keys. The resort is beautiful. Virtually every employee there is friendly, attentive and caring. Three that especially stick out are Donalene, Alexis and James. It's been a while since we've received such service like theirs anywhere else. The drinks and food are on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. Plenty of choices and even the pickiest of our group was satisfied. Highly recommend Angler and Ale restaurant. No riff-raff at this resort. Monroe County Sheriff and EMS crews always checking in to make sure everyone was safe. Great New Years Eve party with awesome band and fireworks was included in our stay. Housekeeping in the room was a little off probably due to a full house but not really an issue. Definitely will recommend this resort.

the pools were great for my mom & aunt, but the breakfast buffet was way too expensive for almost cold eggs n sausage & a cup of takeout soup for 10.00?? really?? & whoever positioned the head of the beds right next to the bathroom openings where light shines in your face each time someone uses the BR during the night..that is ridiculous!! the cost of food at the resort establishments is outrageous.. for sub par foods.. burnt conch fritters & shrimp..for almost 20.00 a plate & most drinks 12+??
