Would not recommend Jules Maastricht for housing. They do absolutely nothing if the tenant breaks contract rules. Would not listen to your complaints and downright ignore you if you are from a non-European back ground. Extremely prejudiced and unprofessional.

So I m getting my new room with Jules at a very good price ,I saw a lot terrible reviews and got scared , Jules is very friendly and helpful and they worked really smoothly.i haven t moved to my place but I hope that it would great and I will also keep everyone updated.
Jules rented me a studio that had a broken fire alarm system. I wrote them numerous emails, went to the office multiple times but they ignored the issue over several months. Only after I filed an official fire safety complaint to the municipality they acted. If you care about your safety and don t want to file official complaints about everything that needs to be fixed: DO NOT RENT WITH JULES!
Very satisfied by the service provided by Sidney. He fixed a big insurance problem I had in a few minutes and explained all about Dutch insurance bureaucracy! Thanks Jules. You have a great asset in your team!
I had rent a room through jules and it was the worst period of my life!! In avant garde !! The service is really bad and they did not respond to any requests, I had now to check out and i gave a notice and they do not care!! And i heard from other students that they charge you for room cleaning, even if you left it super clean!! And they write in the contract that we have 100 part of rent is for service!!!you can come and see if there is a service or not!!! Unbelievable people and service it does not match the first world(netherlands) Actually when i arrived the room was super dirty and i request cleaning but they did not care, i spend almost one week to make the room valid for human being to stay in!! And after this am sure they will ask again for cleaning fees, what a stupid and crime acts!!
Part1 31/1/2018 Today i checked out from avant garde resident that belong to jules, they send to may a lady from jules office to do the check out , first i gave them time 11:30 and when they did not come i called them and she said with a vary Provocative voice( you said you will check at 12:30 ) and she was so sharp !!! I accept all that and the moving service was already waiting for me !! They came at 12:00 pm!! She start to move and comment on the room, which i already made it over clean, and touch with her hands and saying very bad comments with her Provocative voice!!and she checked the toilet (which i asked them to clean it on my arrival before one year because it was invalid for human being) .. Then the surprise!! She said the lamp is broken!! Which was already broken but i accept that and i already sent many emails on my arrival one year ago to fix a lot of things but they ignore me as they fo with others , this is a famous scenario as i heard from students, they take from deposit to fix what is already bad and as i mentioned before it is just a crime act!!
At conclusion!! Jules is still surprising me until the last moment with their bad and un ethical behaviors!!

Awful support and work effort from their aspect. I've sent so many emails (about the conditions where I live,the internet connection etc), so many times I've been there myself and talked to them, but nothing changed. All they do is make fake promises. I've made the biggest mistake choosing Jules.
How many times does students need to contact you to get their deposits back! If they moved out and you promise to do it within a few months just do it. If you cancel one of your language courses, just pay the refund! Actually be the service that you promise to be for students and not this lying parasite, taking advantage of a vulnerable group!
the worst company I ever had to deal with. They are exploiting the terrible house situation that many students experience in Maastricht. I have been their client for 1 year, I had issues with them every month and right now with 5 months of delay I am still waiting for the deposit back.

I have been using Jules services over the whole period of my studies! From the beginning till the end they were always really helpful and they gave me the support I needed. I have arrange twice a room through their housing agency and very often got an advice from the front office about student matters such as insurance, heating issues or countless number of letters from the municipality. I can highly recommend Jules to every student in need looking for an advice or a new apartment! :)
Extremely unhelpful unless you use the social pressure by placing them in the giant spotlight. They also overcharge per rooms (as in accordance with the housing legislation) and have terrible service. Stay clear of this company...
This is a warning to any new students arriving in Maastricht. Jules promote themselves as company to help new students that move to the city, and are (for some uncomprehending reason) partnered with the university and the Maastricht Council.
But as most students realize after living here for a year or so, this is a company that isn't set out for the best interests of new students. I have the feeling that their business model is to take advantage of the fact that new students (often foreign), are less likely to know 'the system' and are more likely to pay extortionate fees for below standard services, which in some cases are illegal (such as their housing agency fees which you will most certainly be charged).
I would recommend searching for an alternative to using their services.
There are no pros, they are total scammers. They are the most dishenest people on earth, avoid them. Not only does this company request higher rents for living or give an absolute damn about any housing issues, they also refuse to transfer back your deposit in Time after moving out of hell.

I have dealt with Jules on several occasions over the years and while they generally take a while to answer via e-mail, the delay in the response for my current correspondence with them has been unnacceptable. I have written them on multiple occasions and to multiple e-mail addresses and have yet to receive ANY news about the return of my deposit on a rental contract which ended in June 2017.
Thus far, I have gotten one reply from them in two months which dates back more than 3 weeks ago, telling me that my inquiry has been sent to their support staff. That's it, no more news. I have always been fair and punctual with payments, so the least I expect after so much time is a reply, an apology and an update on the status of my rental deposit.
I paid the agency fee you charge because I expected to receive a service in exchange. This means that under a professional level you should continue to provide assistance to a past customer even when you're not receiving money from them, if you hope to continue your business relationship with them in the future.

I highly recommned Jules for students in Maastricht. I rented a studio with them and they were very helpful and gave me support with every steps, since translating the rental contract that was in Dutch until helping me with the rent subsidy.
I just moved in in a Studio rented by Jules and my experience so far has been very positive. Staff is very welcoming, approachable and friendly. They made the process of moving in easier and less stressful for me.
!!AVOID JULES AT ALL COSTS!! Biggest scammers in Maastricht (the Facebook reviews are disabled for a reason). They won't return your deposit and they are EXTREMELY RUDE. The only goal of this circus is to abuse the fact that many internationals come to Maastricht and have NO CLUE how the system works. Then, after a brief stay, they usually go back to their countries and won't bother bringing Jules to court (like myself).
The huge amount of agency fee (criminally overpriced) and their marketing as "everything a student needs" leads you to believe that they actually want to help you. But the service that they provide for this fee is literally giving your keys and NOTHING more. That's the worst part about Jules - they are liars.
Everyone on their team is horribly unprofessional and clearly wants to get your money. Just look at all the negative reviews... I rented with them in 2016 and the truly horrible person at the desk basically told me (in the most aggressive way) to sue them if I ever want to see my money back. Since then I have moved annually and I have dealt with many housing agencies. Not a single one has been even close to the unprofessionalism of Jules. How come I haven't faced a SINGLE problem with any agency? Simple answer: Jules is some kind of a shady business scheme.
They are a CRIMINAL organisation and should be shut down. The worst part of this criminal gang is how sharp and aggressive the people who work there are. They will make you feel so unwelcomed and abused if you make your demands heard. I sincerely hope that their head honcho faces legal consequences.
EDIT: You can see for yourselves how aggressive and abusive they are in the answer that their gang leader gave me. They attempt to publicly shame me and lie (I have never done drugs or given them a 5-day notice and, by GOD, I have never ever wanted Jules to find a new flat for me) in hopes of me deleting my review because it's a very negative and emotional one. Just bear in mind that they will do whatever they can to preserve their criminal gang, be it by trying to silence their victims or paying for 5-star reviews on Google.
Jules is a very good organization for students which is a great help for students that are starting up, as well for the ones who are willing to learn a foreign language. I have been following two Dutch courses at Jules and I am happy with the teaching methodology and the service.
It has become a hype under students to support their friend by giving bad reviews without having any experience with Jules. If anyone have a problem with Jules it can be solve if you keep contact with Jules. Jules is not solving problems by avoiding problems but they need the communication with the students. If you compare the problems with Jules or the Students that have a great expierence with Jules you would see that this organisation has been great to many students abroad who came to study in Maastricht.
I had a contract with Jules for 1.5 years and always paid every month on time. I always behaved as a model tenant and when they had to hand my deposit back, they basically disappeared. I contacted them through emails and calls and they either ignored me or told me they would transfer the money soon. It is 5 months now that I've been waiting for my deposit back (the maximum waiting time was agreed to be 3 months from the termination of contract).
I would not recommend Jules to my worst enemy, so avoid them if you care about your money.

Jules has been very good with giving us a good start living in Maastricht. They have been helpful and quick with any problems that arose in out flat. Furthermore, they have been very supportive with finding a new place to stay, when we had to move.
Great service! The staff were super attentive, I was taken to view properties on the first day I went to the office! The staff was quite friendly, particularly Mylan who was very accommodating. Even though I ended up not renting with them, I really appreciated the warm, friendly service I received. :)
I have been a member for the past three years. When I had questions I was always able to come by or sent an email and Jules' staff would do their best to help me. Great student support!
Terrible service. My girlfriend moved out 10 months ago and is still waiting on her deposit. These people are scam artists.
I, myself am also living in housing by Jules. I live there with 4 other students and we all pay 10 euro's per month for cleaning services in the common area's. There hasn't been a person to come clean in months! The last time was probably 6 months ago.
Im amazed that this company is still running with all their illegal practices.
I would actually give them no star at all, if that would be possible here. They are very rude, unprofessional, and they do not care at when there are any issues with the house. Furthermore they are very expensive! And be careful with your deposit!!! In the end they try to not have to pay it back, so make pictures in advance and write down all the details about the condition of the house (even if it is just dirty). Jules is neither honest nor professional, and will try to charge you for everything.
Most useless place that call themselves "anything a student needs", when really, its everything a student doesnt need. Scam and non responsive staff, its been 5 MONTHS since my contract ended, and still my deposit (OF 1000 EUROS) has not been returned. Endless calls, visits to the office and emails and still nothing. So unprofessional, and upright useless company. I am also definately not the only one this has happened to, for example reading other google reviews, and on the Maastricht sharing is caring facebook page, with helpless students needing to take legal action to get their money back, this should not be the case for a company that is supposed to be helping students. (many of these reviews state friendly staff, which by all means is true. however the helpfullness and responsiveness of the staff is abysmal)
By mistake I payed double for a language course. Jules acknowledged and promised to retransfer the money. This process however takes more than 6 weeks however without any transparency on reasons why it takes so long. They promised the money would be back 2 weeks after the mistake, still nothing.
It doesn t take long to see a trend of complaints against this company. Poor service, retaining deposits and so forth. Use at your own risk. Aggressive communication.

I honestly classify this company in the top 3 of worst companies I have ever seen. No values at all, try to screw you over at every opportunity they get, call themselves "a student-helping company" what a joke... These people are well known criminals, they are the definition of thieves. You can ask at every single student in UM, their dishonesty is what made them popular in Maastricht.
I used this company last year to find a student accommodation being new in Maastricht, and I have never seen such a service. We were supposed to be able to move in at August 1st, for which we paid. However, once we paid they stopped answering which they always do with all their students, and we never received access to the apartment until September after threatening them etc!!!! Of course getting a refund for the month of August was totally impossible, even though we had to be in Maastricht for INKOM week, they simply did not care. Also we had to pay ourselves 2 times the cleaning services while we had been guaranteed the apartment would be clean when arriving, and have been charged again when we left, while it was already thoroughly cleaned by us when leaving. During our year we have had quite a few technical problems with the apartment's utilities, of course they basically never answered, even when it was very important (we had been robbed once, they didn't even answer ) However, they talked to us once or twice, when we treatened them not to pay the last month because they were inventing some reasons to hold our deposit, they always try to keep the deposits and they did the same with people I know using Jules, it can sometimes last more than 6 months after the contract and a lot of legal threats before they give it back to you. So never pay that last month with them if you want to be sure to have your deposit back.
Legal actions have already been intended for years against what you can call this "company" , Maastricht's main city group "Maastricht Sharing Is Caring" 's posts are also honest proof against their practices, just look for Jules posts in the group and you will see by yourself... If you or a friend are planning to use their services, please spare your money and energy and simply go look somewhere else. I had to give them 1 star because 0 stars isn't available on Google review yet. Immoral uncaring amateurs is what these jokers are, harming and taking advantage of defensless students, would definitely deserve to be closed, brings shame to Maastricht.
Terrible company. Don't respond to any queries whatsoever after you sign a contract. Hot water and heating faulty in the building and they decide to make it better by offering a new chair.
I was very disappointed by Jules. They were extremely rude and unprofessional customer care.. unhelpful service and expensive. many other sites like sharing is caring that can be the just as helpful (and friendlier).
NOOOO!! This place is a complete ripoff. Very unprofessional. They have no way to mark the actual time their employees are onsite and will charge you double!! Movers showed up late and stood around watching my husband do all the work. Absolute regrettable mistake choosing them!!
Never cooperate. Official ties with Maastricht University have been lifted, and the company is virtually bankrupt. Very poor management by highly inexperienced owner who can make a big cross about her professional career and can work behind the cash register of the Jumbo now that her deception has come true
A great addition to Maastricht's students environment! I did not use any of their services myself, however I heard nothing but positive messages from my fellow students. This was one of the reasons why I contacted Jules for a management interview, as an assignment from the University. Although I wasn t a customer they really took their time answering my questions. I am really grateful for their time. Keep up the good work!

I cleaned and emptied my room entirely. I was still charged a month deposit for cleaning despite that fact. Absolutely unfair, this business does not hesitate to rip off students. To avoid
just don't. unreliable, charge heaps & don't tell you what for & they charge for things that aren't legally allowed to be charged for. In my building there are THREE washing machines for ca. 150 people & you pay 3.50 for every laundry cycle (no matter how short/long/eco, & you don't even get washing liquid with that either). It's so sad to exploit students.
Terrible service, overpriced, they can t back up what they re charging you for. My building that Jules manages was recently taken away from them by the owners due to all the complaints and extremely bad management. They re notorious for not returning deposits and stopping all communication when problems arise as well. When you hear complaints from previous clients, trust them!
I live in the carre building. If that is not enough for u ppl to understand this rating I suggest you start paying attention to you costumers. We are getting fed up.
The worst thing i did was to get a contract with jules!! They dont follow what they promise!! We pay a lot of money for services that are not done and when I try to contact them what I receive is " im on vacations" or " this is my free night"! And when they solve the problem, they talk to you as if they were doing you a favor when in reality they are doing only their job!!!! Dont get a house with jules!!
Brought my bike in for repair. Still not heard a week later, so I'm calling. My bike should last another week, no compensation, there was nothing to do. I left my broken bike there for a week. Go to a real bicycle repair shop.
They certainly do a great job! Fortunately, there is something like this in Maastricht ... They have always helped me in all the bureaucratic doubts as well as to look for a flat in this city. The service is excellent, they have very qualified people and they speak several languages, so your doubts are always resolved. My experience with them has always been very satisfactory :-)
We have very good experiences with Jules. The contracts for the rental were well and professionally arranged by Karin and Tamara. We could always go for questions. It is very unfortunate that this company is burned down by some dissatisfied customers through social media.
All of my friends had problems with it; It is a place one shall not walk into unless you want to live in sub-par conditions and having your deposit taken away from you.
I rented with Karin for 2.5 years and could not have wished for more attentive and personal service. I came from the other side of the country and never felt alone in Maastricht. They fixed me up with a bike, job and their printer has saved me from missing deadline several times! Sad to leave Maastricht!
DON'T GO TO JULES! I rented a room with Jules and lived there for 2 years. Throughout these 2 years I had the most horrible experiences with that company. Not only were they completely unreliable and did not show up when they promised to fix something. They were also beyond unprofessional. One time a Jules employee entered the private room of my flatmate while she was sleeping without any permission. They entered our rooms without permission several times, leaving dirt on the floor, even though we had already complaint about that. One time, they sent us an invoice that we were supposed to pay. Apparently, they had removed chalk in the shower (we had never ordered any service of this sort) and charged us more than 100euros for it. Not to mention, nothing in the shower was different after the said shower construction. Obviously they could not explain when exactly they worked in the house, why they had to remove chalk and why we were not informed beforehand.
At the moment I am trying to get my deposit back from that company and currently have to talk to an attorney to deal with that matter. I moved out 8 (!!) months ago and tried to get the deposit back ever since. I visited their office many times and every time they would come up with an excuse or promised me to look into it - and I never hear from them again. There are several complaints on Facebook groups and even Dutch media. My honest advice: Stay away from this company as far as you can. They make a business out of ripping students off!

They are buying their 5* reviews! Search "Jules" in the search function of the "Sharing is caring" Facebook page of Maastricht. Nobody ever seems to get their deposit back and in addition everybody pays ridiculous extra fees, which isn't even allowed by law. Stay far away from this agency. As far away as you can :-)
