One of our favorite getaways, there is truly no other place like the Greenbrier. They can cater to just about your every want and the atmosphere makes for easy way to unplug from the world. They offer an extensive list of activities to stay busy, but it's also just as easy to go for R&R.

The hotel is huge with a wide range of activities to do while you're there. I did not get to see much as I was there for a work event, but the room was very nice. The staff is excellent! everyone was very nice, helpful and professional. I was very late checking in, well after midnight, and even at that time everyone seemed very energetic and ready to help. I ordered room service, the food took a while to get delivered but it was worth the wait.

We went to the Greenbrier for my Wife s 50th birthday. It was a nice romantic weekend. The food was good. The service was excellent. Probably the main thing we didn t like was that it just seemed old. I guess though, that many people like it and call it nostalgic or historic. Seems like it would be a great place to take a group to golf. Overall nice but not fantastic.

We attended a conference here and stayed in the Baltimore Row cottages. It was a fantastic, once in a lifetime experience! We would certainly go back but it is very expensive - only downfall. There is plenty to do to keep busy just make sure you plan everything out to get everything in.

We were advised we could check in at 3pm and arrived at 4pm. When checking it we were told it would only be 10 minutes as the room was being inspected and they would call us. We waited for 45 minutes and never got a call. We finally returned to the front desk and they told us it has been ready and finally checked us in almost an hour later then we arrived. The front desk called valet to get our car because we were not staying in the main building we are staying in a cottage and had to drive to it, but they never brought our car. A bellman saw us standing around for another 10 minutes and finally got a hold of someone to get our car. Wasted over an hour and a half before we could even get to our room. Not a good start to our experience. Will update this review after we check out with more details.

Update. We were charged for overnight valet parking when we didnt use it. We were told turndown service for all guests but they didn't set up the fold out couch or provide extra pillows. The furniture was older than me and cloth was torn and raggedy. The pull out bed was the worst sleep I had out of 4 resorts I visited and 2 hotels I stayed at this month in WV.

Our bill at one restaurant was 62.00 for soup, salad, and a small side and 2 drinks. I'm sure it takes a fortune to run this place , but beware if you are on a budget.

Still keeping 2 stars as there are plenty of other resorts in WV with close to the same amenities and less snooty and expensive.

Note: this places theme is to retain the original vibe from "the earlier days" which they have done but some people will not enjoy this place.

Absolutely amazing experience, all around. Make sure that you take part in the bunker tour while you are there. The combination of history, elegance, and secrecy surrounding The Greenbrier is truly a one of a kind experience.

Our room was located on the 4th floor South wing. All employees are VERY polite and courteous. The facility itself was VERY clean. The view in any room and outdoors is stupendous. Also having two bars was very nice for this who do not want to enter the casino. Though if you want to dance at the club you will need to enter the casino but they are well separated and very nicely setup.

My girlfriend and I both had a massage. The quality of the massages were sub par to say the least and the gentlemen that performed her massage talked the entire time. We paid over $500 and would not recommend this place to anyone. Very unprofessional.

The staff has been amazing. The hotel is very historic and old. If you play golf the courses are beautiful. Enjoyed the bunker tour. The floral patterns are out of control in the rooms. The grounds are impeccably kept.

I have mixed emotions about our stay at The Greenbrier. I love historic hotels as I have my degree in Historic Preservation and I am a huge Fallout nerd. My husband booked the trip as a Christmas present and I had been wanting to visit for so very long. Being my mom's caretaker gives me little time to just have fun.

It was a delight to arrive, I even let out an audible squeal when I saw the hotel... but slowly over the course of the weekend things went down hill, changing my mood from being excited to wanting to go home. We booked spa services. My husband's bath was scalding and mine was cold. I had to ask for it to be heated twice. It didn't get warm enough to enjoy, but I didn't want to be a bother. I did enjoy the sauna and eucalyptis oil.

The bathtub drain in our room wasn't working properly (4171) and very slow to drain so we stuck to showers. It took 2 hours to drain half a tub.

We went to the pool and the restrooms in the women's dressing area were disgusting. No toilet paper. Not cleaned, towels everywhere. Snot rags on tables and the floor. Empty shower cap boxes tossed all around. There was even a pair of underwear hanging on a hook someone left behind. The lifeguard seemed less than enthused about his job and the hotel phone kept ringing and he kept having to answer it or leave to service the men's room and get towels. He really needed someone else there, especially to service the lady's room.

The Good: We ordered room service for breakfast and dinner, that was wonderful. The peaches were great. Joyce at the candy shop was a delight, I loved her. The gentleman who brought the bed to our room was also wonderful, as was our bell hop and our room service attendants.

The Bad: The Forum was horrific and I left a seperate review for that travesty. We ate at Draper's instead. It was great! Good food and shakes. Thanks to our waited for the butterfinger recommendation.

The Bunker tour saved my trip, I loved it. Jonathon was very knowledgible and kind and I recommend it. We got some prints and a brochure at the end and it was the highlight of my trip.

Overall it was a mixed bag for me. I contemplated not leaving a review at all. Kind of like when you get your hopes up about a place and only to have your dreams dashed. The hotel itself is beautiful on the surface. Some things are in need of maintenance or replacements (chairs, desk pads, pens and stationary books as just a few examples) but it is still magnficent when you enter the building. The service however...

I love the idea of The Greenbrier, but there was just something off about our trip. I keep going back to thinking it is because we didn't have the right look of the normal clientel of the hotel. Some staff didn't even acknowledge us at all, not even a smile when I said hello. Some completely ignored us while trying to get service, or were just flat out rude. It made me feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. Those that were nice, they were precious and kind interactions. I thank those staff for making my once in a lifetime trip here an okay stay.

Updated: As we were finally leaving there were two employees at the door talking. One was loud and cursing about being forced to work outside because it is too cold. Mind you he was cursing in front of my 11 year old and other small children. The other emoloyee was trying his best to dissuade the situation. I felt bad for the other gentleman who had to listen to the complaints. Not at all what I would call 5 star or charm. It soured the rest of the trip for me.

Absolutely phenomenal in every respect. The historicity of the site, lavish decor, decadent food, victorian-19th century-esque accommodations, super friendly staff, and a host of varied activities (eg, falconeering) make this stay a one of a kind hit! Don't miss it.

My husband and I go to The Greenbrier at least once a year. So far, we have enjoyed their fine dining at 7 of their restaurants, golf, Casino, Sporting Clay shooting, tennis, Segway tour of the property, off roading, horseback riding, Spa, bowling, and Infinity pool. We absolutely love it their!

Super pretty. For me driving here was the fun. Down side... The snobbiest people I've been around in a while. And honestly for a place at this price point I'd expect not to have worn out carpets, rails etc.
Just seems... Overrated.

My husband, three kids (ages 6, 4, and 1) visited the Greenbrier tonight for their Christmas tree lighting. Parking was easy to navigate and they even had shuttles running to bring visitors from the parking lot to the entrance. The shuttle driver we had was SUPER accommodating and even helped my husband load and unload our stroller. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. We spent some time exploring before and after the concert and lighting. The staff was friendly and the everything was so bright and clean. They even handed out hot chocolate and cookies before the lighting. We definitely plan on making this a yearly Christmas tradition!

Didn t stay but visited the main building and took the Bunker tour with the very knowledgeable Frank as our tour guide. If you are interested in continuity of government sites, this should be high on your list.
