A subset of authentic Padang food, although Australian laws mean it can't be served in the traditional stacked-plates way. The cafe is very low frill verging on ugly, which I suppose gives it a street-food vibe. Not expensive, $12 to $13 typically. Halal. Beloved by Indonesians, so that's a good sign.

Been here few times. First, easy to get to. Located inside Tivoli Arcade, in the back. Second, I love padang food. So it has a good taste although not like the authentic one. Third, consider cheap. Rice, spicy eggplant, cabbage and jack fruit cooked with coconut milk and egg, it costs me $11. So you can expect around $14 if you add beef or chicken. Lastly, fast service as actually everyting is ready. You just need to pick what you want.

Salero Kito Padang has been dishing out cheap and cheerful meals without fail all these years. Popular with the lunch time crowd for the quick and easy bain marie offerings, you ll see a mix of students and office workers here. A concise a la carte menu is also available, and if ordering from this menu, you get a complimentary Teh Kotak with your meal.

The Padang cuisine is famous for its use of coconut milk, chillies and spices. Bold and piquant, you ll enjoy the amazing depth of flavours here. The beef rendang and chicken curry are my go-to order from the bain marie. The beef rendang here is the dry version, and it may not suit those who prefer to drown their beef in sauce. Beautifully spiced and rich in flavours, this aromatic dish goes down well with rice. The same can be said for the curry chicken, and the curry sauce that comes with this is to die for.

Some days the flavours, and the serving size, can be better than on other days, but nevertheless you ll always be assured of a tasty and affordable meal here.

I want this place all for myself but this food and these people deserve a wider audience. Hence my reluctant review. Lovely lovely indonesian nasi padang, definitely the best Southeast Asian food I've had in Melbourne. Keep it up guys, I'll definitely be back as much as I can.

Best Indonesian food in Melbourne, bar none. The problem with proper Padang food is they're so cumbersome and take so long to make. Being able to point at any of them and eat in less than 2 minutes is just infinitely more convenient!

Probably the best Indonesian food(Padang cuisine) in Melbourne !! The beef rendang is very tasty, and they provide sambal ijo to make it even more spicy ! Serve other padang cuisine such as, telor balado, gulai ayam, kari, ayam goreng, etc. Good fare, friendly staff.

Good place to eat if you're really hungry. Ask for extra rice with no extra charge. Last time they introduced sweet soy beef but I guess it's not popular so it's no longer in the menu. I like it but the problem is, 50% of the beef was fat. So kinda turned off with that. I suggest to have 1 new dish every week for variety.

The quantity was good, you can ask for more rice for no extra cost. It s one of the place to go when you are really hungry.
The staffs were very friendly and the service was so quick. Will be back again.

Definitely love the Sate Padang, one of a kind, omg! It's halal, the meat in satay was so huge and soft. I love how they have the better meat and recipe quality than in my own country. The place is quiet small and pretty hard to find. I gave totally 5 starts for the food, love the spicy food.

Had oxtail soup from ala carte menu, came with rice and chilli dip + drink for $15. Pretty spicy so order if you enjoy the heat!
Fast, delicious and big portion sizes. Very casual place to eat. Can't wait to go back! I was super hungry so forgot to take a photo!
Seems to have a lot of frequent customers, you collect cutlery/water/tissues at the till and if you're uncultured like me and don't know most of the menu names, the server was very helpful with explaining the popular choices.

Great variety of Indonesian food ready to be served up on the spot. I had the spicy chicken, fried egg plant, beef rendang and the cabbage and Jack fruit side and some chicken curry sauce on rice. All that for just 14 dollars
It was spicy and absolutely delicious.

This is one of the best Indonesian Padang restaurants in Melbourne. Its beef rendang, dendeng and especially it Lado Hijau (green chilli sauce) are the best and taste similar to those in West Sumatra.

Today, I bought some beef tendon. I disappointed because there a little bit tendon and so much skin including fat. I know that because the texture of curry not sticky enough in my mouth and the other hand is the taste of the skin and fat so strong.

Looks like food from a food court, but taste and quality are considerably better. Also offers a varied selection ranging from crispy lung to sheep brain curry. Service is efficient and friendly. Good choice for a quick inexpensive lunch.

I've been back 3 times to try the lamb curry advertised in the photo on the window facing the arcade and you never have it. It's disappointing when something is advertised like this and is always unavailable. Maybe take down the photo if you don't ever have this dish because it is misleading.

Probably one of the most authentic Indonesian cuisines in Melbourne. It specializes in Padang food (Sumatra), with lots of dishes to choose - chicken gulai, rendang, fried chicken, spicy eggs, etc. I love the spicy sliced lung, if you don't like spict foods like me, you can try the lung only and it is so crispy!! I always take away the spicy lung since my kid also loves it. The mixed veggies was a bit salty, though, I would recommend to try the beet leaf one than the mixed veggies.
