The Greenbrier is a wonderful place to
visit. However it is difficult to leave.
The setting, the service, the availability of everything to meet your needs and the service staff in all areas are the best you will find anyplace.
The food is beyond belief and the physical environment is beautiful.

West Virginia's BEST! This is the best hotel, restaurant, shopping, golfing, tennis, horse, fishing, gun sport, hiking, candy making swimming pools, meeting/wedding facility this side of the Prime Meridian. The facilities are "top notch" and the staff is second to none.

Love The Greenbrier...it's America's Resort for a reason. They do everything top notch. It's never a bad thing when you are being catered to and being spoiled. Thank you Greenbrier...I will definitely be back.

The excursion activities are a little pricey but it s worth staying here just to explore the eccentric interior decorating and architecture. I really enjoyed just wandering the halls at night and exploring the grounds outside. Staff are all very friendly too and the food options are solid whether you want to eat out or get a pizza to eat in your room. Casino is decent, small but fun craps table is tough to get a spot at sometimes.

It's all about your attitude here. One could say that it needs a facelift, but honestly I think that that would kill the nostalgic feel to The Greenbrier. The grounds are beautiful, and it is very peaceful. Food and drink is overpriced. As for the golf (which is why I came), it's really nice, save the Greenbrier course, as it clearly an afterthought. GPS in carts isn't even in sync with that course. Meadows was great, with the right amount of challenge, although a miserable finishing hole...... yikes! It suffers from unfortunate road noise, but it is very well kept. Got to fulfill a bucket-list dream of playing with a caddie on Old White. Walked the course and all. Although it is a TPC course, I would say it was fair, and not overly punishing. Actually, the bunkers are much more difficult on the Meadows course.

If you go to the Greenbrier for only one reason, go for the staff. They are *terriffic* from top to bottom. Can't do enough for you, and make you feel special.

Treat yourself to a stay in an old-world hotel/resort in the Appalachians. Sure, you pay a premium to stay here but it's costly for these people to keep you propped up in a genuine 5-star experience used by and fit for presidents and royalty.

Service was hit or miss - unfortunately I can count who gave excellent service. Food was very good. While I understand the historical Greenbrier decor, the hotel needs a refurbishment. Golf facilities were fine, the courses could have used a bit more tending - maybe it was all the rain?! Waterworks at the spa was very relaxing and my attendant was very nice. Shooting clays was fun and the instructor was helpful and nice.

The Greenbrier was beautiful from the outside and most of the rooms. The chapel, ballroom, casino, and restaurant were beautiful. I thought the hallways and walls for the rooms were a little dated. Too much floral and off green. The room was very dated. Bright green carpet, floral wall paper, blue plaid chairs. It seemed dated. For the room, and the price did not reflect the room in my opinion. The experience was great overall though. My only criticism is purley dated carpet, wall paper, and decorations in the rooms and hallways.

Beautiful, quaint and friendly resort. There are lots of things to do here if you want to get out and do them. There are a couple of restaurants, unfortunately we didn't get to go to the one we wanted to go to because they were booked for the evening. I flew in from Florida for the weekend and was disappointed that I didn't get to go to the Prime 44 for Restaurant. We went to the Super Bowl Party and was disappointed in the food selection but it was still a good time. If you have never been to the Greenbrier Resort, you definitely need to go.

Little disappointing. Wanted to see the church.but it was closed for a wedding. We were not able to park inside the Green Briar. Waited across the street for almost 20 minutes for the shuttle before we walked.
Lunch was not as good as it has been in the past. Had sandwiches and 3 were not exactly as ordered. When you pay over$20 for a burger, fries, and a shake you expect it to be right.

This was my first time back in 25 years. They have...

This was my first time back in 25 years. They have really put some substantial money into the rooms, hotel facilities and activity centers. Previously the hotel had slipped into seriously dowdy shape and was quite tattered at the edges. The refurbished version is an interesting mix of upscale southern resort and almost edgy primary colors designed to clash a bit. Surprisingly it actually works for the most part. The patrons are a mix of aging 1%'ers, male golfing groups, and some families. The resort is planning to have a number of athletic events which may change the mix on those occasions.

The most annoying part of the experience is their recent policy of instituting a "Historical preservation fee" of 6% added onto your room rate. You are basically paying the Greenbrier separately to do it's maintenance of their property. This is plus the "resort fee" of $25.00 per room per day for towels and other 'resort' items. Added to your bill is the 'occupancy' tax and then add on the sales tax (even on the preservation fee!) So basically a $300/day room adds $57/day in misc fees. So if you are wealthy enough that you don't bother with the bill details, you will be fine here. I'd prefer just to be charged $357/day and not nickeled and dimed on the bill - my preference.

I will come back and do recommend the experience if you've never been, but beware the various add-ons.

My company has used this hotel several times to attend HDA and PCMA, this hotel has the worst customer service EVER!!!!! EVER!!!! They NEVER get the email information correct. They NEVER send ANYTHING they claim they will send. You can NEVER find anyone to give you a straight answer. If I could give -5 star I would but they make you give 1 star in order to post. -5

After another stay my review has been updated. The price is definitely worth it. Great service, great atmosphere and the casino is amazing. I bought some clothes at one of the stores inside and they fit like a glove and are much better quality than Nordstrom. A must stay. Next time will be a golf trip.

The Greenbrier has been a pretty wonderful experience. The classic yet unique style, the delicious food and drink and the overall vibe of the resort has been fantastic. Everyone at the resort has been exceptionally pleasant to deal with except for a couple of the front desk people who were a bit off in their remarks and sincerity. I would still recommend this resort to most and would come back myself.

The restrooms were filthy. We told the staff and all they could say is they wouldn't recommend that restroom. We came all the way from California to be here and that was not the service we expected. Have pride in such a historical location.

Miserable excuse for a nice place. Everything is enormously over priced the breakfast does not change and you have about 10 options, the bunker tour was something i looked forward to but was somehow turned into a boring walk, the house keeping sucks the place is dirty and there were stains on my floor and towels, you cannot wear casual stuff to a sports bar and you are strictly dress coded in places you paid way too much for. Terrible time if i could it would get a .5 star.
