Nice posh place. On a tour and our evening meal was not the best in the dining room. Forum was good! Rooms and services were great. Tours nice. One time for me.

I booked the room, but was unable to go due to family emergency. My husband & son stayed in the villa for the weekend which was explained by reservations to me as 4 bedrooms with a common area. Once my husband arrived, the common area was closed off immediately only to be left with a very cramped bedroom and no way to keep items cold. My husband requested a mini fridge, it never came. The charge was a group rate, the hotel rooms at the very least were larger & had a mini fridge in the main resort. Honestly, you get more space along with ice, mini fridge in the Holiday Inn Express or any hotel offering suites. My husband said it was the WORST hotel experience he has ever had and this is a resort not a hotel so that is quite a statement. Uncomfortable beds, pillows and cramped space, honestly I would skip this experience. When I spoke to management they offered no solution, only tried to convince me I was made aware of the cramped space & facilities. NEVER AGAIN - STAY AWAY- OVER PRICED - TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE (MANAGEMENT)

I was very disappointed. After hearing so much about this place it was a complete let down. The decor was so old, tacky, mismatched, and falling apart. Like Liberace's house gone wrong. Food was very subpar and expensive for the quality. The only saving grace was the staff. They are very kind and attentive. I would not recommend here. If you need a classy nice hotel in this area look into the General Lewis inn.

Had a drink at the lobby bar after visiting to walk around the grounds. Fantastic place to visit, even for a couple hours. A lot of places and activities are restricted to guests, so make sure you do your research ahead of time. The lobby bar was great, and had very attentive and knowledgeable staff.

Wonderful experience, highly recommend The Forum for dining, and the chocolate and coffee shops were pricey but very good quality. For COVID, visitors are asked to park at the train station and a free shuttle takes you into the resort and runs continuously. The staff are very friendly and helpful at the atmosphere and history is one of a kind. A warning on the prices, this is a very upscale location so pricing reflects that and just about anything you buy has an added historical preservation fee, about 6.5% if I recall.

We spent 4 days here and the whole family loved it. The staff are super helpful and friendly and facilities are amazing. The breadth of choice of things to do is slightly overwhelming. The food, oh my goodness the food. N.B., much like going to Disney, plan on opening your wallet, empty it and hoping that's enough.
Greenbrier is totally a 5-star facility, I'm docking it one because it is imperfect, completely unfair of me. I'll mention a couple of the imperfections in the order they occur to me.
Coffee. Despite what Starbucks has led us to believe, coffee is meant to be drunk from an open ceramic cup, not a paper cup with a lid to cover the sight and conceal the aroma. No such thing is even available in the coffee shop as the quizical look from the staff there conveyed when I asked for one. Yikes! Am I at America's Resort or McDonald's?
We needed help with choosing the right Spa treatments, especially for my mother who was with us. The staff were friendly but utterly unhelpful with this, and anyway as of Friday noon everything was booked for Saturday, too bad so sad. We did not get in the spa. Book ahead before your trip and do your homework.
Finally, the Bunker tour is underwhelming. I've been waiting almost 30 years to see it and I'm glad I did, but still. It's interesting, just not amazing. There is also something funny about the story they tell about it and about its current use that simply lacks the ring of truth.
And to that guy at the craps table that rolled before I got my bets down ...well, I'll continue to bite my tongue.
We enjoyed our 4 days here, that's enough I suspect and in some ways too much, but isn't that the point?

We spent a wonderful 10 days at The Greenbrier. So many activities and adventures, great meals with friends, golf, and spa days that we forgot it was actually a work meeting for our business. Highlights for us were the Gun Club, our day with Patty for a horseback ride in the rain, and two great dinners at Prime 44. We purchased a gorgeous fossil at Gibson s so that our home has a stunning memento of this trip.

The hotel was magnificent and so was the service. The rooms are old but everything was comfortable and clean. My only complaint is the price of everything and all the additional fees you get when you check out. If you don t mind paying $770 for one night with just lunch and dinner with no activities then you will enjoy it. The activity prices are sky high.

Hotel is historic and it shows, but not in a good way. Not sure if the floods had a dramatic effect, but the hotel seemed to be quite run down. Bed was very old, toilet barely flushed, TV didn't work, and there was mold all over the hotel. Lots of history and beautiful trees, great campus, but the historic part needs a major update.

Very cool but expensive place. Take the bunker tour and be sure to ride one of their little buses and take a tour of the place. It's huge and gorgeous. But bring your own pillow if you don't like hard little squares. The pillows were awful! I still have a stiff neck.

By Far the best medical experience I have ever had...
By Far the best medical experience I have ever had. Procedures that took weeks to schedule and execute at home took 4 hours, tops. It is Pricey, and the only insurance they take is Medicare and Railroad - but once I hit 65, I will get a full checkup (and I do mean FULL) every year. My wife and I stayed in a room 30 feet from the doctors and their labs.
Oh yes, it is a terrific place just to stay - excellent restaurants, interesting things to do, secret government accommodations from the cold war days --- and the lovely West Virginia country side.. Take the Train, it stops just outside.

What else can you say about the amazing Greenbriar that hasn't already been said! The history is amazing, the scenery is spectacular, and the food is to die for. I go every year When I visit my mom and dad in Virginia, and it never gets old. We never run out of things to see, and I constantly see new things every time that I'm there. Be prepared to spend a little money though as it is high dollar Resort!

I'm really not sure what all the fanfare is about ...
I'm really not sure what all the fanfare is about the Greenbrier. It's hideous and overpriced. The Amazon inspired wall paper with the black and white checkerboard floor and the bold floral curtains should have been laid to rest during the civil war. I get that they are paying homage to the early colonial style, but man is it hideous. You don't realize how bad it looks when you go to places like Mt. Vernon and everything is faded. We went there for lunch but the wait was an hour. We tried walking around for a bit but many of the shops have overpriced nonsense. The pool also smelled very strongly of chlorine. If you have to put that much chlorine in to cover the sulphur smell, maybe you shouldn't use the white sulphur water. I really don't get the appeal of the place, but if you have too much money and no taste you will probably love it.

The Greenbrier is a fantastic hotel full of things to do. The service was top-notch. My advice is that if you go, plan to spend a couple of days here. Our one day wasn't long enough. The dress code is nice, but I do wish that it was enforced a little better.

My wife and I enjoyed the Greenbrier for our babymoon. The Greenbrier is a classy place with a ton of history. I like to describe it has Cruise ship on land from the 1950s. There are plenty of activities to do. I recommend doing the bunker tour. The casino was also a ton of fun. My only complaint is everything is overpriced .

This resort is existing on a past reputation that is now long gone. We paid $700/night to have a lovely view of a rusted metal roof. The lounge access was nothing more than a room for kids to go. In fact, the entire hotel was a kids playground. Scooters zipping around the main lobby. Kids running in and out of elevators pushing all the buttons. The staff and concierge were utterly clueless when asked for information. They made no effort to exercise any control.
The New Year's party was supposed to be black tie and over 21. Neither was enforced. There were even kids on the dance floor.
We like kids and have grandchildren. But at $700/night we expected a much better experience. We would never go back.
Save your money! Do your research and go somewhere that is truly classy. This isn't it.

One of my favorite places in the world. Just got back from another great stay. Hotel and staff top notch as usual. Restaurants with superb food and the Casino is always great fun. New activities every year including Polaris Slingshot, which I did not get a chance to get to but will soon as they look like great fun. The trails are all back up to speed after the '16 flood and got to hike and bike a good bit of them. Such a peaceful, beautiful place that rejuvenates both the body and the mind. Can't wait to go back.
