While I was always on the look out for any good travel deal, I found Indus Galapagos Tour on Travel Zoo s top 20 deals. Mom and I flirted with the idea on and off for a few years, then 2018 we whole-heartedly investigated and compared companies. Indus seemed to offer an extensive package for a reasonable price. Fortunately we had flexible dates and were able to pick a package that worked well for us, Highlights of Ecuador and Peru in 2019.
While we didn t have any big expectations of this company or trip, we were absolutely BLOWN-AWAY with everything the trip included. The amenities were always top notch, the food choices always exceptional, the Guides were always OUTSTANDING, especially Jimmy in the Galapagos he always went ABOVE & BEYOND passionately and proudly sharing his culture with us. The transportation and included tours were extensive and fulfilling. Mom and I could not believe how much ground we covered, how much culture and territory we were able to take in in two and a half weeks for the price we paid. There was never a dull moment, and if there were a few hours of downtime, we were in the right location to enjoy the moment. Whether that was in Quito or Cusco perusing the open markets, admiring the wildlife in the Galapagos or strolling the property of the old Monastery in the Sacred Valley there was always an amazing adventure at our fingertips.
The bonus of Indus was the small group setting. Each adventure had a truly intimate feel that was very comfortable and welcoming.
The only recommendation I would have to any traveler considering Indus would be to ask for more information about their optional tours. Initially, we didn t consider many optional tours because the literature descriptions didn t grab us. However, once were heard the descriptions first hand from our guides, we did add a few tours while on our trip.
Mom, now 72 and me, 45, we are no slouches when it comes to travel. We have each visited countless countries and cultures and used several different tour companies, self-guided independent trips and different travel modalities. Since our trip to South America was utterly exceptional, mom decided she was ready to tackle her next big adventure South Africa. Based on our first impressive experience with Indus, we looked at them once again to provide our safari and wine country experience coming in May 2020. We have booked our trip and will report back after our excursion.
