We booked the Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand tour....

We booked the Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand tour. It was sold as a luxury tour. I found it to be far from it. The hotels were 3* at best. The guide in Thailand was very poor and at one point dropped us off in the middle of Bangkok, miles from where we asked to be.

But the kicker was, when we checked in for our flight from Cambodia to Thailand, Indus had booked us for the wrong day. In fact, they booked us for one month earlier.

We tried calling the local guide who was kind but had no knowledge of our travel plans. We then called the emergency contact, Nathalie, who refused to help us (yes, flat out refused). We called the next emergency contact who would only deal with us if we had WhatsApp and told us to call the North American helpline. This helpline was closed because it was the weekend. With little time before our flight, we had to book one-way tickets to Thailand and hope that Indus would reimburse us, which they have agreed to do.

After leaving us stranded in Cambodia with all the emergency contacts refusing to help, they offered us $50 per person if we wanted to book within a year and had the audacity to call on multiple occasions to see if we wanted to book with them.

The tour itself was adequate and the other people on it were wonderful. The guides in Thailand and Cambodia were good. Indus itself is hopeless and I am ashamed that they are based out of Canada.

Heck all your documents carefully if you booked with them. Read your itinerary carefully to see what is included as this is far from clear. And if you are wondering whether you should book, don't do it. There are plenty of other tour companies around that will value your business, won't make basic errors such as booking your flight on the wrong day, and who will be there to help if something goes wrong. Finally, beware that your personal details, such as DOB and passport number are passed around very liberally, not only to local guides, but to fellow travellers. Just today I received another 10 people's personal details, and I'm not even travelling with them.
