Grace Cathedral is an absolutely beautiful place full of incredible artifacts and peace. This was one of the biggest points on my have to see list while I was in San Francisco for work and I was astounded by what I saw. Must see when visiting the city!

Grace cathedral has a beautiful labyrinth in the main hall where every Tuesday a donation-based yoga class takes place. It's an incredible place to practice, also for non-church goers. The labyrinth is also a great place to practice walking meditation.

It's an utterly beautiful cathedral but I was shocked when I rolled through the front doors to be met with a barrier and a note stating that to go any further into the cathedral you must pay them $20. It's the first house of worship that I've ever been to that forces you to pay to enter the building. I realize it's on Nob Hill and everything, but that is very un-Christlike.

While touring the Nob Hill area we decided to walk up the steps of the cathedral and look at the beautiful doors. Noticing people walking in, we decided to go in. It's a beautiful cathedral, the murals and walking laberyth were quite interesting. The young man working the information desk was very friendly and knowledgeable when answering our questions. We are not Episcopalians but took the opportunity to say a prayer and light a candle. Donations are accepted but not solicited. Beautiful building, nice people and an opportunity to slow down for a moment from our time walking around the city.

They have yoga classes on Tuesdays with live music, or you can just walk in and follow the labyrinth to meditate and you might hear the organ or the choir. There are beautiful stained glass windows and medieval tapestries at the back.

The last time I visited lasted more than 10 years ago, I was again impressed by the wonderful stained glass that has not changed. After work I walked back and forth from Nikko Hotel. It will be a good exercise.

Quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Amazing that the cathedral hosts art exhibitions and various events. If you have time, visit one of the concerts, acoustics is great (but I am not a musician, I might be wrong))

Well, I have to compare this to Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, Mo.
If your intend to come here is just for sight seeing, you can forget about it. Parking is the worst. You know you're lucky if you find one on the side streets after circling around the neighborhood for 15 minutes. The parking garage in the Grace Cathedral is a money making machine. $33/hr or there is another one down the block for $40/hr.
There is not much to see inside here or anything better than any other bay area or northern California old Catholic church. If you want to be impress with art, history and architecture, go see the Basilica of Saint Louis.

Some things I found interesting here: an altar dedicated to the HIV victims and gun violences. It was impressing for me see something like that it is not commonly found in Europe. I also appreciated a small exposition about the story of the Bible with some pages from very old documents.

Very nice church that is probably very popular for weddings. We saw two bridal couples on one day :-) The church is in a large square. In the evening the church is atmospherically illuminated.

This is a beautiful place with wonderful art - both modern and classical.

Unlike many big city cathedrals, this one has a very active congregation. Today is Easter and the place was packed. There must have been 2-3,000 people there

Regular services are well attended and feature a great choir and wonderful music.

During the week it is a great place to come and view the art and architecture

This stunning cathedral is incredibly similar to Notre Dame in Paris. Its amazing to be able to see such feats of architecture right here in our own backyard. The draw to Grace Cathedral for me where the two labyrinths for prayer and meditation. The inside one is available anytime the church is open & twice a month they do candlelight yoga on it, the outdoor one is available anytime.

Grace Cathedral sits right on top of Nob Hill and is a wonderful sanctuary of peace in a hectic city.

What a beautiful church to check out next time you are in San Francisco. The stain glass was really nice and the day we visited they were painting pictures on the front steps. Lots of people were stopping to check it out.

The Cathedral also has public restrooms and an elevator for handicapped person can get into the main room.

This cathedral has a typical architecture of the European cathedrals. It is inspired by Notre Dame de Paris with its 2 Towers and the rosette in the center. It is all concrete reinforced concrete. In Europe they are mostly stones. The central gate is a replica of the gate of the Baptistry of Florence, a piece of art. Inside it has a maze painted on the floor and on its side walls there are murals that show us part of the history of the city. It has a magnificent organ. And it also has a multireligious chapel, since it has the symbols of all the religions of the world. On Sundays there is an organ concert starting at 3:00 p.m. Interesting place to visit, beyond the religious beliefs of each one.
