Beautiful stained glass and paintings inside as well as really great message of inclusiveness and welcome. I also enjoy relaxing by walking around the labyrinth outside, though I rarely have the patience to do the whole thing.

If you enjoy art and are looking for a fun and relaxing exhibit, I highly recommend the "Graced with Light" ribbon project that is at Grace Cathedral until the end of February 2014. Over 20 miles of vibrantly colored ribbons are extended from the high ceilings of the church. In contrast with the stained glass windows, the ribbons make for an engaging visual experience and stunning photos. I don't know if this is true, but another visitor mentioned that a hope or prayer is supposedly written at the top of each ribbon.

If you walk around the church, there are various tapestries, murals, and wooden carving pieces to enjoy. The exterior architecture of the church is also gorgeous, especially the gold "Ghirbeti" doors that are a replica of the Florence Baptistry. There is a suggested donation of $10 per person but it is not mandatory. You can donate upon entering or leaving the building.

This should be suitable for all ages but children might only be enthralled by the display for a couple of minutes. I observed some kids (and adults too) entertaining themselves by walking around the labyrinth maze while their parents admired the art. I've been here once many years ago for an Al Stewart concert and I vividly remember the fun I had running around the labyrinth maze as a child.

Beautiful Cathedral that is open to the public. Music in the background every now and then, hearing the bells every hour, and sometimes even people doing interpretive dance in the Labyrinth's.

First visit. I went for a friends memorial service in a side chapel. What an amazing building. It should be in the top ten things to do when in SF. Stunning windows and stonework on the interior. Stunning. Feels like you are in Europe. A must see for everyone.

This place is soooo beautiful. The first time I saw it, at the ripe age of thirteen, I wanted to get married there. Marriage isn t what I thought it was when I was a teenager. Anyway, I probably won t be getting married any time soon, but this place is really beautiful.

It is a Gothic cathedral with a very elegant atmosphere.
An invitation letter in Korean is provided,
It's fun to look for each one of them.
The content is more diverse than I thought.

Very beautiful Gothic cathedral that really looks like a European Gothic cathedral, though it has apparently been made out of concrete rather than stones to withstand earthquakes.
The inside is quite astonishing as well. Indeed, it is full of interesting paintings.

Fantastic stained glass windows depicting religious events, and not only, of particular interest. Also nice is the labyrinth traced on the ground, both inside and outside the church, a source of inspiration for meditation ...!

I ve never been here for church services or anything but I have been here for 1) yoga in the labyrinth, which is a beautiful wonderful magical experience usually led by Darren Main and Rev Jude 2) wandering around peacefully with my mom checking out the stained glass and sitting in the gardens in the square across the street 3) I ve gone by myself to stand under this wonderful art piece they had hanging up called Jacobs Ladder which fascinated me and was pretty enchanting. This place is one of my San Francisco Comfort places and is a great place for a peaceful reprieve or reenergizing.

There really are no words to describe the splendor of this icon. You are instantly humbled by just the grand scope of this church as well as the obvious attention to detail the craftsmen had in construction. This is one of those places that really contributes to the vibe of the city.

About Grace Cathedral

Grace Cathedral: A Welcoming House of Prayer for All People

Grace Cathedral is an Episcopal church located in the heart of San Francisco, California. It is a welcoming house of prayer for all people, offering live stream church services, online spiritual events and supportive virtual community on social media. The cathedral has been serving the community since 1849 and has become a landmark in the city.

The cathedral's mission is to be a place where people can come together to worship God, deepen their faith, and find inspiration and guidance for their lives. Grace Cathedral welcomes people from all walks of life regardless of their background or beliefs. The cathedral's doors are open to everyone who seeks solace, comfort or spiritual growth.

One of the unique features of Grace Cathedral is its stunning architecture. The building was designed by Lewis Hobart in French Gothic style with stained glass windows that depict biblical stories and saints' lives. The cathedral also houses two labyrinths - one inside and one outside - which are used as tools for meditation and reflection.

In addition to its physical presence, Grace Cathedral offers a variety of online resources that allow people from around the world to connect with each other spiritually. The church's website provides access to live stream services every Sunday as well as recordings of past sermons. There are also online classes on topics such as meditation, yoga, mindfulness and more.

The cathedral hosts many events throughout the year that bring together members of its congregation as well as visitors from around the world. Some notable events include "Bach at Noon" concerts featuring music by Johann Sebastian Bach performed by professional musicians; "Ghiberti's Gates," an exhibition showcasing replicas of Lorenzo Ghiberti's famous bronze doors; "Interfaith Thanksgiving Service," an annual event where representatives from different faiths come together to give thanks; and "Pride Eucharist," a celebration honoring LGBTQ+ individuals.

Grace Cathedral also has an active social media presence with accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube where it shares inspirational messages, updates about upcoming events and photos/videos highlighting its beautiful architecture.

In conclusion, Grace Cathedral is not just a physical building but rather a community that welcomes everyone seeking spiritual growth or connection with others who share similar values. Its commitment to inclusivity makes it stand out among other churches in San Francisco while its stunning architecture adds another layer of beauty that attracts visitors from around the world. Whether you attend services in person or virtually through their website or social media channels – you will find yourself welcomed into this warm-hearted community!
