Incredibly inclusive and welcoming cathedral right at the top of Nob Hill facing Huntington Park. I visited towards the end of Sunday evening mass and found it to be an incredibly reflective experience. The stained glass windows are varied and the atmosphere from the hymns being sung was a welcome breather from the outside world. Tip: you can download the Grace Guide app that you can listen to during your visit which provides an audio tour guide. I haven't tried it yet but plan to go back to do so.

Good

6/5 stars for Yoga on the Labyrinth. It's every Tuesday at 6:15 pm. Even being 20 minutes early, it was a little hard to find a place to put our mats, so shoot for 30 minutes early to get a spot! Suggested donation is $10-$20. From what I saw, I believe you can also rent a mat at the cathedral if you don't have one. There are yoga instructors walking through the cathedral that provide support with positioning during the yoga practice. The instructor guiding through the yoga flow directs everyone over a microphone, and does not demonstrate, so if you don't know the names of the positions just cheat off your yoga neighbors :). There is a live musician and it added SO much to the yoga practice. The cathedral can be a bit cold at the beginning so bring a light jacket. I personally shed my jacket a few minutes into the yoga session. Parking can be really difficult, so plan for extra time to look for street parking. There are also parking garages at both Grace Cathedral and across the street at The Masonic if you don't feel like hunting down the coveted street parking! Beautiful building and a beautiful experience!

The toilet is quite clean in the basement

This is my getaway place in the City. I've never attended a service here, but I like to do the walking labyrinths. I particularly enjoy the outdoor labyrinth because of the surrounding sites and my energy expands when I'm outside. It's also an adventure getting up to the top of the hill (take the cable car, or you can hike it).

Absolutely beautiful church inside and out. You can find tons of great information at the information desk inside.

From the fantastic stained glass to the forged steel doors, there's plenty to take in. On Tuesdays you can catch free yoga in the cathedral. Definitely worth checking out.

Grace is a beautiful church. I enjoyed a lovely evening there hearing Anne Lammot and John Dear speak. Parking was a little pricey ($33) but it was very nice to just park and not worry. Both the indoor and outdoor Labyrinths are really great.

This cathedral is beautiful, situated in the nice neighborhood of Nob Hill. It reminds me of the ones you find in Europe although this one is more simple than those. Anyway, it s a great place full of spiritual meaning. We visited it during Christmas time, there are many concerts available through different days. There was also a beautiful Christmas tree decorated with origami and with written wishes. Just magical!

A blisteringly odd blend of religion and naked progressivism. But then again, this is San Francisco. It's very much on brand. Just not particularly Christian when you really think about it.

The Grace Cathedral IMHO truly reflects the culture of California and the Bay Area--a perfect blend of spirituality, heritage, humanity and science.
The story that I heard about its site from a local guide (Free Tours by Foot) was quite interesting.
Before your enter from the side door, pay attention to the beutiful ceremonial entrance door at the center, which I believe is a replica of the famous door from a cathedral in Florence, Italy.
Inside, I was pleasantly surprised to see the stained glass art depicting Einstein, Astronauts, etc at a place of worship.
A wall/door painted with spiritual symbols from different religions, and a wall painting depicting the first site of United Nations are worth mentioning.
If possible, try walking the entire path of the labyrinth on the floor inside the cathedral and empty your thoughts.
A must visit place if you are in San Francisco.

First, it's a church, not a tourist attraction. You'll find a place of spiritual search, beautiful liturgy, excellent preaching, fine music, a wonderful Christian community, and an active ministry in the world. That said, you'll also find an historic chapel (Grace Chapel) harking back to before the 1906 earthquake, where Eucharist is celebrated weekdays at 12:10 by volunteer nave clergy who are available all for pastoral counsel and conversation. You'll find beautiful, historic, and inclusive stained glass windows and paintings from before 'inclusive' was politically correct. (Look for the Jewish theologian, the astronaut, the Huguenots). Watch the colored sunglow of the windows creep across the floor as the light moves across the sky. Walk the labyrinth from Chartre's Notre Dame Cathedral, Grace's sister cathedral. Grace is one of only three cathedral class cathedral churches in the U.S. The spire (fleche) is a copy of the one, sadly burned recently, of Notre Dame, Paris. The bronze doors are copies of the Ghiberti doors, made at the time of World War II in case the originals were destroyed, and made available when the final portion of Grace was built in the 1950's.
Summary: Grace Church is a phenomenon, spiritually, artistically, and architecturally. Episcopalian in liturgy, practice, and spirit, inclusive of all who seek God, and welcoming to all who may happen upon the presence of God in the beauty beheld in this building.
