Always best on a bright sunny day. Vast areas to wander and brilliant views of the City from Parliament Hill. Excellent cafe by the bandstand, with friendly staff, offering a good variety of snacks and meals. Bagpipe player on the bandstand today!

An absolutely marvelous public park. The heath is beautiful to look at and is big enough to easily lose yourself for hours if you're looking to forget the city for a while. Thank God we have public spaces like Hampstead Heath! ^_^

Exceptional London panorama from Parliament Hill and other points on the Heath. Wonderful seasonal colours, great places to swim, fantastic expanses to walk dogs and wonder alone or with friends and family. Often very quiet on weekdays and brilliant for children to explore, climb trees and brilliant for picnics.

North London's scenic cocoon. Long summer days and early sunny winter mornings can be spent here enjoying the fresh air and looking at the city's skyline across from people walking their dogs.

I guess my expectations might have been to high. Its a nice enough place, but there are many that are far better. I think this place is known more because of its location in Hampstead rather than the grounds themselves.
Having said that I cant really fault the place to be honest.

Great

Just a wonderful way to enjoy London.

Just a wonderful way to enjoy London.
Walk up hill whilst taking in some green and terrific boozers.
Favourites here include The Spainiards Inn and The King William IV

As beautiful as the scenery was and as nice as it was overall I felt all of the walking ultimately led to nothing but more of the same. I couldn't find the massive desk and chair or any ponds and stopped walking for the fear of getting lost.

One of the best spots in London to enjoy the outdoors. Once you there you won't believe you are actually in the middle of a city! Grab snacks, company and go catch some rays under the sun and if hot enough you can even swim there in one of the dedicated pools

There is an "ordered wildness" to hampstead heath. Unlike Regents or Hyde parks - this is a heath. Good for rambling, toddling or bumbling along. No-one demands you be anywhere at any particular time. You can arrive by broad Street to Richmond overground train N waddle to the 3 ponds up South hill park road.
Then across to the freemason's arms with its pleasant large garden for a thirst quencher.
More toddling on over to Kenwood or parliament hill. And bus back if your feet are tired.

To paraphrase someone "if you are tired of Hampstead heath - you are tired of life".

Ps - try to ignore the Hampstead-ites. Sadly the village is now bereft of any quaint shops and useful things. It's all chains and more than 13 real estate agents!!!
But, south end green is ok for a coffee and a bun.

Great
