We had a wonderful two-night stay here in mid-February 2020. Before arriving, my husband alerted the hotel to my allergy to fragrances and they took special care to air out our room and clean it alternate cleaners to assure that it was scent free upon our arrival. We received a room in the "old" original guild house which overlooked the canal and was extra special. It had wood floors and the most magical view of the guild houses, belfry, old post office, churches and bridges nearby. The view felt surreal. Definitely worth the upgrade! Our room was also very spacious. Loved the location as well. It made touring the city super easy. We took the tram to the hotel from the train station (3 euros each), got off at the Korenmarkt stop and then walked about 5 minutes to the hotel. It wasn't the easiest walk with bags due to the cobblestone, but it wasn't hard either. When returning to the train station we chose to take a taxi instead as it was raining. The ride was about 10 minutes and only cost 9 euros. The hotel was nice enough to call the cab for us and it was waiting for us when we down stairs. We walked across the St. Michael's bridge, down the stairs and then along the canal to the canal entrance to the Marriott. The location overall made it very easy to get to all of the main sites of the city. We could also easily stop by the hotel to drop off the chocolate we bought before returning to site seeing. I only have two complaints... (1) the bathroom was small considering the large room. (2) the use of modern furnishings in a richly historic environment. I wish Marriott would have taken a more boutique approach to the decor instead of being corporate and modern. It felt like too much of a contrast for the environment.
