Tania Cooper Review of Georgetown Cupcakes

We live in PA and have made the pilgrimage to DC specifically for Georgetown Cupcakes twice, and are planning our third trip (and a fourth before moving to the West Coast). I have no idea how people are giving this bakery bad reviews. They are cupcakes - they ARE sweet and unhealthy. Seriously. My family typically eats very well (organic, home-homecooked meals). We are active and in excellent health. Therefore, eating these cupcake once or twice a year, isn't going to be detrimental to one's health. If, perhaps, you are borderline diabetic, it's probably best to forego any cupcake, not just these.
The size of Georgetown Cupcakes is typical of a standard cupcake. They are not small, nor mini-cupcakes. They are regular sized cupcakes. Moist, flavorful and delicious. What really does it for us, is the icing. So, incredibly smooth and creamy. They offer a great variety of favors, so there is bound to be something (at least one!) for every palate.
Each time we have gone, the line is out the door and up the hill. We have never waited in line. I always order online prior to our trip. Those who order ahead can skip the line and go right to the counter. Tell one of the friendly employees your name, they will get your box and you are on your way. You can make special requests on your order, which include signed photos from Sophie and Katherine. My children were over the moon with happiness!
At the end of the day, these are outstanding cupcakes, at a reasonable price, and a perfect occasional treat. We will keep coming back as long as we are on the East Coast!
