Georgetown Cupcakes is a foodie hotspot in the D.C. area and place well worth seeking out if you love your cupcakes. Opening hours are 10am to 9pm daily (close at 8pm on Sundays). There are queues which form well before opening time so be ready to allow some time if you want to experience Georgetown cupcakes.

This is the flagship Georgetown Cupcakes, also referred to as D.C. Cupcakes. There are other branches in NYC, Boston and a couple other cities in the States. However if you have tried, heard of or seen them on the tellie, this is the original bakery and shop.

We've had their cupcakes a few times in recent years and they have always been very, very good. You can purchase individual or groups of cupcakes which are packed nicely in their signature pink boxes, which are nice for travelling. As such, if you are D.C. for a few days and visit early in your trip, you can purchase a few extra to put in your hotel and enjoy during mornings or afternoons for the next couple of days.

There is an expected variety of conventional cupcake flavours along with Daily Specials and seasonal Monthly varieties as well. All are listed on the official website if you want to think about which to try during your visit. There is a large cupcake menu on the wall that you will see just as you enter the shop. Cupcakes are on full display behind a glass counter as well so you can look and think over which to purchase.

I've really enjoyed the majority of the cupcakes tried, particularly the pumpkin spice, vegan apple cinnamon, salted caramel and chocolate ganache. Others with different taste preferences will likely prefer others. Definitely have a look at what is available prior to arrival. This will help you order and receive your cupcakes in a more timely fashion.
