Good hostel, well located, but bedrooms are very hot in summer.
They rent bikes, good idea to explore the city.
Stayed there until yesterday.
The bathroom and shower in the room were small, but I had to wash, and the others used a shared sour room on the floor.
It was clean and the location was so good, so I'll give you 4 stars.
However, there is a strange person in the same room, but I keep muttering to myself without washing, and why turn off the heater on this cold day...
A German friend said that there are a lot of strange people here, but they are there, so be careful of staying guests!
Oh, it can be used as a locker euro. It costs 6 euros for 24 hours, but if you come early in the morning, you can use it.
Pros: central, Nice interior, personal storage
Cons: very small bathrooms
Very nice for a hostel, almost like a hotel. Has a common area, laundry room, lounge, and bar attached to the side of the hostel. Each room has an attached bathroom with a shower. But, it's really cramped. Luckily there is a separate bathroom with a shower on each floor of the hostel that's more spacious. Be careful not to venture to the left side of the hostel when exploring, it's really dodgy.
Very well located, public transportation all around it, nice rooms, very tiny bathrooms, breakfast not included and it costs around 7.5 euros
Close to the station but small rooms, showers / toilets even smaller, noisy and everything is paying extra (towel, padlock, etc.)
The stay was good! However, the shower was a bit small and there was too little water for my taste. There was not really lukewarm in the shower or so for my taste there was only scalding or freezing
We were there on New Year's Eve. Ansich the hotel is ok. But I think for the price you can expect more. The bathroom, comparable to camping comfort. Neither a wardrobe nor a TV.
The location makes a lot of good! Super central.
Decent place to stay in hamburg, only beds and a small bathroom in the rooms but it was enough for a stag do.
I felt very well. Very central, very clean, very good contact possibilities.
Although it is cheaper, the fact of not having a kitchen or refrigerator, or being able to enter food forces you to spend on fast food, yogurt and fruits to eat at the moment. The bathrooms look like those of a ship, they are super tiny and it is quite difficult to brush your teeth, since there are shelves very close to the tiny pothole. It has no lockers in the rooms, (payments on the ground floor, 1hs = 1Eu), only drawers in which personal locks can be placed. For the rest, attention and facilities (paid) as laundry and drying at 6 euros. (And at least 3 hours waiting for the process to end), bar, breakfast (from 3 euros a coffee with a croissant) and computer room are very good. The pieces are ventilated and clean. The comfortable beds. The excellent attention.
Whilst providing basic rooms, this place is a cheap accessible place immediately outside the Central Train Station (Hauptbahnhof) and the underground station (Hauptbahnhof Sud), this place is ideal for a short stay in Hamburg
Arrived from Odessa and were surprised by the bed ... Clean and smells good. And so it s not very bad. Recommend.
Clean, simple and functional, friendly staff and very central and safe.
We entered the room and were greeted with two single beds (good start).
The plug sockets were conveniently placed at the opposite ends of the room, so that you couldn't charge your phone and use it as an alarm.
Upon entering the en suite bathroom-ette, we were greeted by the mustiest of smells. Opening the toilet lid, an un-flushed treat presented itself, and to complete the holy trinity of bodily fluids there was somehow some blood in the shower?
The sheets were clean and the beds comfortable enough, but this was unfortunately pointless, as the music from the built in nightclub downstairs was enough to keep you awake.
When the music eventually gently subsided at around 3am, a symphony of dripping pipes and floorboards creaking (presumably under the weight of the broken dreams which lay heavy upon them) took over.
The curtains (a design masterpiece) weren't quite big enough to cover the whole window, which aided an early rise. As with all budget hotels, the towels smell like mild curry super noodles.
In summary this is my least favourite place to be on earth.
I guess it's pretty cheap though!
The showers are very narrow and small, the area is nicely central in the city center. The price is okey.
Convenient for a light transit crossing, or to take the train at 50 m
Middle Quarter. Hotel rather an improved hostel. Big block of concrete small rooms badly isolated nothing of a hotel but do not expect more. A dormitory
Every year at least 2 times ... I don't think you need to say more
The ONLY benefit of staying here is that it's right next to the main station. If you can make your way around fine I DO NOT recommend staying here. The communal washroom in the hallway was cleaner than the one in my room that I paid extra to have. There were religious fanatics & prostitutes outside. For the price you pay you don't even get a complimentary breakfast. Bartender didn't know how to make any drinks & the food is all overpriced. it's really a hotel they're passing off as a hostel
Good location, very close to the main station.
The room is very cozy
Good hostel. I was in the room for 6 people. It was pretty clean. Minus were small showers and toilets, but there was clean. Toilet and shower to the room. Towel and shampoo separately. The hostel has security. English at a high level.
Good stay no food and drinks allowed, but kitchen serves food and theres a vending machine for drinks! Toilets in dorm rooms a huge plus!
Perfect location. It is just 3 minute walk from Hamburg Hbf. There are a good Supermarket and a nice Turkish fast food shop underground from the station to the hostel.
Bad experience in general, wouldn't book it again.
We got a double bed room. The worst part of the room by far is the bathroom. It was a pre-made unit that felt like you are in airplane and can make one easily claustrophobic. The toilet sea is broken (see the image)
The room itself had no air conditioner, and the windows were for some reasons locked. It means it was like a oven inside when the outside weather was around 20 degrees. I had to wake up in the middle of night to get the key to open the windows, and since it's located near central station, you could hear the drunk people til 4 AM. There was a also a small fan in the room with 1cm of dust on it. (see the image)
The beds weren't comfy and were making a free concert at night
Room service doesn't exist. We put a sign at the door and they simply ignored it for a day.
Hostel in every single way: very, very basic accomodation.
Metal stairs at the entrance to take care of very slippery, I fell heavily, a guest has taken care of Thanks Silvia ... The hotel did not care
Cool hotel very centrally located at the main station - small rooms but practical ... very relaxed staff
We booked into Generator Hostel Hamburg with 5 people into a 6 person bedroom. When we arrived they informed us that one of us will have to sleep in another room since they booked two other guests into our room already and they said every other room was booked out. Very poor customer service, unfriendly staff, not even an apology, no compensation offered. Cannot recommend.
On top of that, the rooms do not have AC and windows do not open fully, which means that in the heat of summer, a good night sleep is impossible.
Avoid if you can.
Price and quality of the hand. Perfect location due to its proximity to public transport.
Absolutely spot on. Rooms were clean and came with USB chargers which were handy. No complaints, fairly priced, very modern. Recommend.
For the offered price really recommendable, above all, for this year's 33c3, we were in a 8 bed room, it was clean, noisy noisy, the location is great (once across the street and you're at the main station, how cool is that ?!). There was even a shower in the room (we expected a walk-in shower, although there are, but only a single).
Only stayed overnight (August of 2019) and the staff was very accommodating and sooo kind to me; I ll never forget my experience here. Thank you!
Clean and comfortable but the area seems a bit downtrodden.
Since I have everything that makes fun. Including live music.
Pseudoscientific christened Bainbridge ducking duckbills woodcutting
Everything was alright and clean, but as it is such a huge hostel you are not feeling very welcomed there. Especially the food and drink ban is annoying.
If you want to meet nice people from all over the world it is not the right place to stay.
Absolutely disgusting place to come stay. Staff are incredibly rude, people who aren't supposed to be in your dorm somehow end up there in your bed but staff do nothing about it until someone who can speak German can complain then security comes.
They are incredibly racist, rude this review doesn't even deserve one star. The place is disgusting. Don't waste your hard earned euros here it's not worth the money and it's way overpriced for what it is. The place is a basic budget hostel but charge you crazy prices. The staff ignore trying to to talk to you unless you speak German. The attitude at the reception desk is like from the world war. People just look miserable like they don't want to be there. Roll their eyes at you when you ask them a question. Move away from the desk as you approach it.
DON'T SPEND TIME HERE!
Food is overpriced and so is the beer.
The beds are comfortable. The room and bathroom are small but not bad. What is bad is that, the hotel is very noisy and you can hear someone running in the hallway next to you or the door making your whole room vibrate. In the first room the window didn't close, but I could complain. And in the second (current room) the window does not open. Shouldn't the cleaning ladies notice that even when they are stressed? So maybe the cleaning ladies can take a look at it, so if the windows are opened and closed that costs 2 seconds. And the funny thing is that the tv is on my own at 6 o'clock in the morning or when you watch it with it does he switch himself Why? Could it be that they packed the same television in every room and the signals cross?
Excellent location, with great service! The room is small, but comfortable. The bathroom is very clean, but very tiny. The reception works 24/7 and is aways ready to help tourists with anything they need!
When you see the building from the outside you think it would be such a wrecked thing but inside everything is super new and modern. The rooms and bathrooms are not huge, but nice and clean and definitely enough for a city break. The wifi is free and the location is just perfect. You can get everywhere directly, but it's still not super loud.
A very modern and welcoming hostel in the center of town. It was possible to store large luggage for a fee and the common rooms were large and very modern. It was possible to buy food for all the meals. The rooms were the same as in most hostels, but with their own bathroom and easy option to charge electronics.
Would not recommend staying here in the summer since you cannot open the windows. Rooms were quite clean though
This hostel has a lot of pros and cons and to be honest it is good for what it is. I stayed for a day but I would not book it if I were looking for quality. Still I have seen better even in this price class. But also there is definitely worse than that!
pro:
very close to the main station
kind of cute
has lockers under beds
and electric lockers for computers etc.
nice view from the fifth floor
appropriate behavior during Corona and there was just one other girl in my room, so it was not too clustered
women's dorms
con:
there were dusty spots over the bunk bed
very loud, I opened the window because it was hot inside but you could here the noises from the main station
a big part of the staff does not speak German
some of the staff was not very helpful
lame elevator
tiny showers
bad wifi
no fridges
Great location. Each bed has an LED light, 1 socket and 2 USB ports for charging. There is a bathroom and shower in each room but they are quite small and with tiny wash basins. wifi was ok. staff was friendly. breakfast could have been better but for the price, it was reasonable. I was told that check-in wouldnt be possible till 2:30pm even though the booking details said 2pm. I asked again at 2 and the room was then ready. Would consider staying there again because of the location and cleanliness.
Location, location, location. Just outside of the bus station, two streets away from the train station and touristic places are just walking distance
Good for the price and location! Probably not good if you want proper sleep as lots of partying people tend to gather.
Price / performance ratio ok, depending on where you book. But it depends very much on the neighbors.
An amazing place to stay. Great location, great people, excellent staff. Chill atmosphere, great prices. Move in!
Two of us arrived and we spontaneously got a double room for one night. The staff was very friendly and accommodating even though there was a lot to do. The volume in the reception and lounge area was very loud, this was probably due to the English audience who were there for the "drinking vacation". Our room was on the 7th floor, easy to find with the elevator. At first sight everything was fine. But the "modern" rooms seem very simple. The bathroom reminded us of a bad station toilet or a DIXI toilet, not very inviting despite the cleanliness. The beds were very comfortable but the noise level was very high as the English audience believed they were singing loudly in the hallway in front of the rooms and venting their urge to move around the elevator. The shower is unfortunately only intended for guests who are not taller than 1.80 m. We paid 90.80 including breakfast for the double room. We could have saved ourselves this. It consists of normal rolls, cheese, salami, ham, tomatoes, cucumbers, 4 types of jam, cereal, very thin coffee, a few types of tea and juice. There are far better breakfast options.
Despite all this, an accommodation that is centrally located for not demanding travelers. Not recommended for guests who want to get something for their money.
The beds are pretty good, the room is not too bad, but the breakfeast is not something i would recommend. Price is fine
It's one of the worst hotel service. WC and Shower is soooo small it's difficult to stand also. There was no matt outside the shower. The water output from shower is like someone peeing.
One star is for location of hotel.
Staff is not friendly.
Stayed there overnight as flight was from Hamburg. Very easy access to train routes to visit the airport / town center. Room space was fine, no complaints there. Would stay again if visiting.
Well-located, not too expensive, clean rooms, good beds.
Very small bathroom and toilet. Room very quiet. Very good. Unfortunately there is a table u.Schrank.Hehr friendly staff.Zimmer to the street very quiet .Gute shopping opportunities .Upper price. Would book it again
Everything great. Good Price. -1 For showers leaking everywhere
Great hostel for the price room was big with all modern outlets, there was washing machines and dryers, USB ports in your rooms and a great bar that serves food would recommend for a nice weekend away
Definitely the best hostel I have been too. It's very clean with 24hr check-in available. Prices are fair & it's next to the train station. I like that they have the option of female only rooms. I however dislike the price discrimination that one has to pay for the female rooms as they tend to be more expensive than the mixed gender options.
The food is relatively good, but the cutlery, dishes, etc. is often not clean.
The bathrooms of the shared rooms (6-8 persons) are very small. Furthermore, there are no closets or seating in these rooms (eg a table + chairs)
A feel-good factor is not guaranteed here, which is a pity if you stay a week in this hostel.
Overall, I would say that this hostel is not suitable for school classes.
The location is great and very close to the main station. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the staff were always helpful. As noted many times, the toilet and shower in the rooms are very small. However, there are two public toilets on each floor, each with a shower, here there is significantly more space if necessary. With the window open it was relatively loud at night.
Ideally located at the Hamburger HBF.
Varied mixed crowd, functional rooms and reasonably priced.
We had been to this hostel for work with 3 people. The first impression of the hostel was very positive. But when we got to our room, the first positive impression was quickly gone. In the room you could hardly stand it was almost 40 degrees Celsius and the window could not be opened, the only remedy was a small standing fan. The bathroom was way too small for a quadruple room, not sand-proof. And the room wasn't exactly clean, there was still dirt from the landlord in the corners.
We would have booked the hostel for another week, but canceled the second week and took another hotel
Was there for 2 nights, was better than any A & O hostel in Hamburg and I was in every ......
Mega nices team at the reception! All are young, know several languages, friendly and have the charm of Hamburg in itself
Again and again only generator !!
Okay for one night, but at second glance the cleanliness (next to the mattress, in the corners) left a lot to be desired. The room (8 beds) was appropriate in terms of size, but the bathroom and shower were extremely tiny (smaller than a telephone booth, if you still know it ;-)) Bed linen available, towels, no soap in the toilet. Reception staff very nice and friendly.
Good price performance ratio. The location is a matter of taste
Good beds, good price, but the staff was a little rude. They woke me up saying I didn't payed. Well I did. After going downstairs talking to the receptionist I could stay. They had some problems with their system or something. Thanks for waking me up early.
Warm and nice place with plenty of space and close to the main train station
Inexpensive, top connection to local and long-distance traffic, well suited for overnight stays.
Gladly again!
Keycards dont work properly. Toilets are super small. But as a hostel its fresh, power outlets on every bed and they have big lockers in the rooms.
Great location, nice staff, comfortable rooms and reasonable prices. You can not ask for more!
The room was way too hot so had to leave the fans on all the time. Problem is that the fans don't remain steady so they move unless you can prop them with something. The room door was extremely loud amd doesnt close gently. Roommates arent curtious to slowly close the door so this needs to be fixed. Bathroom toilet and shower were extremely small and tight. Very difficult to move around. No soap to wash hands after using the toilet. I brought my own towel from another hotel if not you are forced to purchase one for 6 euros, ripoff. Front entry door you have to use your room key BUT the front staff are the ones that buzz you in so if they are busy or not seeing you at the front entrance and no one is Walking out you will stay there. The male staff members weren't very talkative or explained if I wanted breakfast or if I needed a towel or when checkout is. I had to find out on my own. However the female staffers were very nice. The best part was that it was across the street from the train station and the free walking tour picked you up at the hotel. I stayed 2 nights and requested a bottom bunk but was told all booked. They could have easily moved someone to accommodate me especially since the 2 nights I was there, 2 if the bottom bunk were used by 2 different girls that stayed only 1 night while I stayed 2. I wouldn't recommend this place.
Right at the station. Super local traffic connection. Small but clean rooms.
Everything was clean and well maintained. However, the rooms were too small
Cool place and is right in front of the central station and has a friendly staff, the breakfast isn t bad.
I visited in the summer and i had the worst time possible, there s no windows , just imagine that! I couldn t sleep for three nights i stayed there, i kept waking up every couple of hours, the window are covered with glass which doesn t allow any air circulation, it was dry and hot and when i asked for a fan or anything that can help they told me they don t have enough.
Location: Good near main station Hamburg Rooms: Sufficient for overnight service: Nice staff, strange house rules
Clearly the best hostel in Hamburg !! Great staff, great atmosphere, live music, central location, great views, no beds available ... Great!
I definitely don't want to say much about this but it is a lot of money for nothing .. beds are clean .. bathroom is a small loft where you can hardly turn around
A nice place with comfortable rooms, a clean bathroom and a very good value for money!
Posses a comfortable location mixed with affable personal
