Was there a few months ago and have thought about writing this for a while. I used to think of this as a really nice hotel, but my recent experience warrants sharing. My wife and I had pre-booked a garden level courtyard King suite for our "baby moon" the week before she was going go give birth to our second son. We were thrilled to stay somewhere nice and be pampered a bit. When we got there, we were given our room key and I was surprised to be sent to a 2 double bed handicapped room facing the parking lot of another business. We weren't able to use the tub because there was none, the window was obstructed and the curtains opened to reveal just wall on 1/2. When I called the desk they said that even though we paid extra weeks in advance for the nice room, they gave it away to someone else and there were no other options. Okay... So what can they do to fix it? Nothing they say. Go to the website and ask for a refund... Okay. So we asked why they gave our room away... They said that "no matter what room you think you are getting, we don't guarantee it'll be available even if you prepay." Janky. Ive never experienced this so obviously it was a CYA situation and someone messed up. So finally the manager offered to comp our room service bill in recognition of this. That was super nice and I appreciate it a LOT. It is the reason I'm not giving a 1 star rating. So we just push our beds together, order dinner and made the best of it... Until it was time to swim. When we went to the pool there were a bunch of rowdy people listening to loud music on a boombox they brought in, garbage from snacks (bags of Takis) all over, and empty glass beer bottles scattered about. Loud men obviously drunk and, although I don't judge someone else's taste in music, it was super loud. I was surprised that this was allowed at such a nice hotel... Id expect this from a $50/night highway motel but not the Marriott we love. In the morning we ate at the breakfast in-house and literally every table was covered in other people's leftovers. We cringed and made the best of a table covered in grease and crumbs, wiped it with a napkin, and moved the old juice glasses ourselves... Pretty gross but we wanted our included breakfast... Nobody ever came to clean it up and the old guy serving didnt seem to care. He did wipe our table after I asked him to. I still like this hotel and want to go back, but something was seriously wrong at the management level for it to go from being our favorite classy place to staycation to being a dirty place where they don't guarantee your room despite a fully prepaid reservation. We go to the Embassy Suites and avoid this place now. What happened to you, Marriott?
