FLVS Is terrible. I have been doing many classes with them, and each one has been a pain. First off, you barely learn anything. Try learning very complex math arithmetic off of a paragraph. Have a question? They'll call/ text you back in 3 hours minimum. Most of the teachers are very rude, and it's such a pain to get in touch with them. FLVS is not a good system, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

I did drivers ad and physical science, both courses were terrible. The support would be better if there was none. Can not even get ahold of the teachers for questions without having to wait 3 weeks for your schedules to align.

I recently completed the Physical Science Honors Course with Mr. Clyatt as my instructor. I would like to personally thank Mr. Clyatt for his helpful support throughout the course and for keeping me on track. Thanks to both his and my own hard work, I managed to finish this course along with two other honors courses in about a month. I would also like to acknowledge the following co-teachers that helped me along my course progression: Ms. Needel and Mrs. Beckham. When my teacher was working with other students, these wonderful teachers kept me focused and enabled me to move diligently through the course.
My experience with course was definitely positive and I am grateful for both the time and effort the aforementioned teachers put into my learning process.

Have a great day,
NP

This is our first year (kindergarten and 2nd grade) and it s been great!! FLVS really knows what they are doing virtually for our kids to learn and be challenged at the same time! We are happy with our decision!:)

i had a teacher molest me in 9th grade but other than that the sexual abuse wasn't that bad after they sent my nudes to the entire staff. Im now a 19 year old transvestite that has only been raped 4 times, and i have not been abused in 3 weeks things are looking up

Over-loaded with stress, DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE WITH BAD FAMILY PROBLEMS/LOADS OF STRESS FROM OTHER CLASSES! Problems are caused from stress, depression included, again, I do not recommend for anyone with stress

Had to take this bc of medical issues. There is a project almost every assignment, which is incredibly time consuming. I've had to drop things off my schedule! The flexible schedule is a lie, and the teachers will lock you out if you don't complete the assignments on time. The dba's are pointless- you have to shape your schedule to answer a few questions that could have easily been an assignment. If you can, please just stay at your school.

3 of my 4 children have attended FLVS, and 1 of the 3 attended K12 for 3 years. They have been doing great, and I am so thankful for the online school/Board of Education process. My children are very driven and focused on their goals. I truly believe my Home school efforts in conjunction with each teacher's work ethic helped make it possible.

honestly, stay in actual school if you can. all this program does is create added stress to my life and i completely regret ever doing flvs. the teachers barley help and are so hard to get in touch with. and im saying all of this as a student, if you're a parent thinking about putting you're child through this hell you should 100% reconsider.

this is the worst thing i ve ever experienced, i do not recommend this. do not put your child through this torture. i have gotten diagnosed with severe depression due to flvs. some teachers are alright but some are absolutely terrible. they should go out of business

I took all of eighth grade on flvs and it was great, I got through all my classes no problem. Spanish (or any foreign language) isnt very good to take online as you don't get pronunciation. I'm taking Algebra 2 currently as while I was doing it in school I wasn't learning anything. Flvs actually helps as I can go through the lessonmultiple times if I don't get it. You have to have a good work ethic, and I'm sure all the kids giving flvs horrible reviews have a horrible work ethic.

Our daughter took a course in World History this summer via FLVS, and her instructor was Ms. Jamie Dodge, and I would like to extend SUPERB accolades to Ms. Dodge -what a teacher!! It was the first time our daughter took any class via FLVS, and Ms. Dodge's cheerful personality, her swift reply to e-mails and texts, and her extensive personally written feedback on all assignments made this journey a delight for our daughter. It was a lot of work. So many projects. But our daughter had a schedule, stayed on top of it, and learned TONS. Our daughter would tell us about her DBA's, her written feedback, and it propelled her into continued efforts and willingness to finish all the work prior to the upcoming school start. Thanks to Mrs. Dodge, our daughter is contemplating the idea of taking more classes through FLVS. You have a real treasure in a teacher like her.

Just wanted to reach out to say some BZs about Jerad Black .He s my son s FLVS Outdoor Ed teacher. I was very impressed and happy with his efforts and outreach to keep my son on track. My son had some difficulties with the site and the schedule, but Mr. Black was consistent, persistent, and patient in balancing, on one side, my son s learning how to deal with FLVS (very wonky site sometimes!), deadlines, and being a 16-year-old boy, with, on the other, having to grow, maintain deadlines, and forge through.

My son also spoke well of him in their telephonic interactions, as do I.

Mr. Black did a heckuva job!

Thanks,
John

I don't like FLVS, here's why:
Personally I think that technology's role in education is assisting, not teaching. That's why there are teachers. I understand if people want to use it to learn more and be productive or get college credit, but in for me it is required and that's just stupid.

uh this experience sucked, this class is garbage, teachers don't do nothing around here, and they expect me to do 50 assignments that will not have any effect in my life what so ever. Also ill have you know that i have gym class for a reason not so i can sit my butt down in front of a computer for half a year of my life.

We have had a great experience this first year, the teachers help and they are easy to reach even by text. They are understanding and want to help your student. We are doing another year again and thinking of finishing even high school here. It took us a while to get into it I m not gonna lie, we were behind at the beginning bc of the overload, we got some teachers changed but the second semester was a breeze. I recommend it to everyone that asks. Worth giving it a try.

Whoever failed a class listen to my warning. Take summer school because this will be the biggest pain in the ass ever.I call my teacher to do my DBAs 3 times a day and no reply but when she calls me im in school and just doesnt work out. There are so many assignments and you rarely get multiple choice. Trust me, summer school is easier than this.

This institution gives me the opportunity to advance in school and graduate early, learn at a faster pace, and have one on one conversations with teachers. All of the teachers I have had are extraordinary. The layout of the lessons are always made in a way that makes important information stick out. The quizzes and assignments help me remember the lessons well for exams and in future classes. Be sure to take good notes!

My daughter signed up for online PE. Coach Spires was a great instructor to my daughter. She encouraged her throughout the course and always asked if she needed help. The course was flexible and convenient for my daughter's busy schedule.

I truly appreciate coach and everything she does!

Okay in the most part. Teachers are nice, but the collaboration hours are always out of my schedule and I need to make up separate assignments for it. There is a almost a new survey every week and it is always sending me emails and pop-up windows about them. When I complained to FLVS because my teacher was not grading my work then she sent bad texts to me saying "Complaints at FLVS are taken seriously" and "Your a child you shouldn't be doing that" which was not a very good experience. Also, the website is hard to navigate around, and the help videos are not very helpful.

The tests are extraordinarily vague and even nonsensical at times. I also discovered some, to be politically correct, "racy" things in my test questions and answers. The lessons have videos in 240p with distant, scratchy audio with people talking in educator language, so even if you can make out the little pixels they're pointing at, and decipher the code they speak in through the horrible audio, it'll still be useless on the tests. Even if the videos weren't completely worthless, the lessons are just as bad. They are very specific and have extreme amounts of information for things that are irrelevant on the tests, whilst the filler data is boundless. I've taken two AP courses in which they taught me how to read through dense texts, and even though I got A's and B's in those courses, the course I took, HOPE, yes, a Phys. Ed. course, seemed impossible. I also learned nothing of value. Don't waste your time here, just take your courses normally.

My daughter is a student of Coach Spires this semester for 7th/8th Grade P.E. I just want to say what a wonderful experience this online class has been. Coach Spires approach to teaching has made my daughter a self starter when it comes to her health and fitness. She has learned the value of healthy thinking as a lifestyle not as just as way of getting in shape. Coach Spires has made this course fun and interesting. Her favorite thing was the Video Final project that she got to write and direct, which is her passion. We are already looking into more classes to take.

Love The teachers but hate the fact that I have to read the lessons 100000000000 times to actually understand the lesson so sorry but you get 1 star that's for the teachers NOT the school

Edit: Okay so maybe I was a little mean I'm just so stressed out with this new way of learning trying to stick to my parents expectations of straight A's. Plus on top of that I have to help my brother who's 2 weeks behind because he started late. I honestly don't mind the different way of learning. I just miss all my friends and my school its just all so different.

Though I did help my 4th grade brother with an ELA quiz which me a 7th grader have an A in and he still got an F (50%) So that kinda sucks otherwise I like this new way of learning just totally leaving after the end of this year.

Easily one of the most frustrating endeavors I've taken on, the people responsible for creating this Web 2.0 nightmare of a site should be proud of making this overly tedious and nearly impossible to navigate. I was given a course plan that involved assignments due on specific dates that the teachers weren't even available to unlock or allow me to complete. This system doesn't work and I'm still not even sure if this is an accredited school, if it is then that is a failure of the Florida educational system, although that's not a very high standard to begin with, thanks Governor Scott!

I don't usually make bad reviews on places but i had to write one for FLVS full time.

i'm currently in 7th grade and it's so stressful it makes me want to scream, i would give this one star if it wasn't for the majority of good teachers even though there are some bad ones but i understand because that happens everywhere as well, they never give you enough time to work on lessons and its never an exam and they always give you papers of work to do, also the websites they use look like there made for a 5 year old as well looking like they were made in 2007, the live lessons are slow and laggy, it mostly takes about 2 hours for a teacher to respond or grade an assignment, this is my personnel opinion on FLVS if you like it then good for you but i'm not a fan. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

FLVS has been so stressful. I started FLVS for physical education. Physical education had its own problems but was manageable. Then, I moved onto Fitness Lifestyle and my gosh was it the worst decision I have ever made. The assignments are stressful, more than half of them are unnecessary, and just submitting an assignment is a hastle. If you believe I am exaggerating, here is an example. I currently have to write a children's book for Fitness Lifestyle. It is also well known that for some reason, physical education and all the courses that go with it are the hardest on FLVS! This class caused me great strain because I would sit there for an hour at a time, WITH MY MOM, trying to figure out how to do an assignment without easily accessible resources. The most enjoyable part is the teachers because they try to help as best they can while the program itself is insane. The work I do almost never gives me anything out of it and I can barely drag on with this course. Knowing now how hard, stressful, unconventional, unnecessary, and overall unbearable this is, I would have rather taken HOPE and just not have taken my college level class which would support me majorly. I would not recommend this to anyone. Parents, do yourselves and your children a favor and don't take anything on FLVS.

My daughter Portia just took Mrs. Masino's 7th grade science and it was fantastic! If you are lucky enough to get Lauren Masino you won't be disappointed. The material of the class was age appropriate, the work volume was very manageable (especially for non standard hours of education), and the teacher was very quick to respond to any questions we had.

Definitely not for everyone. My daughter had to take Geometry Hons with FLVS because there was no teacher in her middle school. Teacher (grading person) was rarely available and, at best, unhelpful. Thankfully, I was able to be her 'teacher'. Once she completed course, all materials disappeared although EOC was several weeks away. I talked to FLVS principal about revision aids and he told me "use Google". Daughter is now in high school and studying Alg 2 Hons with a real full time teacher who gives a """"

Never really had issues with FLVS until I took algebra. Do the teachers not realize that's it's pretty hard to work out a problem that they have given you on the spot when you only have 15 minutes for the whole dba? It's a joke. I wish FLVS could see how problematic this is for students who aren't so gifted in math. I'm stuck on my last 2 DBA's because I'm not good at solving a random equation on the spot so thanks FLVS for ruining my life. After 4 long years of dealing with flvs and all that work I would go INSANE if I don't pass those 2 DBA's. Like that would be the most petty thing in the world.

I wanted to express my appreciation for Ms. Tyson and her work with my son. He started FLVS this summer as a Flex student. He is on the autism spectrum and really struggles with academics. Ms. Tyson was patient and continually encouraged him throughout his Language Arts class. She called and checked in on him regularly and always had positive things to say to him even if he was struggling in a lesson or on a DBA. This was probably his best experience with a Language Arts class since starting school. Even though he went to an amazing elementary school that accommodated his needs, the one-on-one attention FLVS provides and responsiveness of Ms. Tyson truly helped him be successful. We never imagined he would earn As and Bs in Language Arts, but he has shown us that he can do just that.

I'm sure part of Ms. Tyson's success is due to the support she receives from Ms. Golden and from the principal. So, thanks to the whole team for providing such a great experience for my son. We love FLVS!

FLVS is a totally awesome online school. I'm home schooled, and overall, I've had a fun experience! I absolutely LOVE it. The text in the lessons is in terms I can understand (I have autism, so I can't understand some things.), so I'm able to breeze through the courses. Thank You, FLVS!

Seriously, FLVS has been the worst when it comes to online education. I'm a senior and I completed everything. My teacher refuses to answer my e-mails or text messages to give me access to the final exam after she said she would last week. I'm incredibly upset and after I called FLVS and told them my problem, they said they couldn't do anything. Now instead of an A, I'm graduating with C. Isn't that just great? FLVS has teachers that don't care and the few that do usually end up leaving, maybe because they realize they deserve better. I thought that by taking a credit recovery course, I'd leave with a better grade but no. Thanks for nothing. I'll be contacting my school district about you guys and your broken system. I hope nobody has to go through what I went through. Absolute garbage.

i have been in flvs for two weeks now, and i think it is great, even though i am behind a little, the only reason i am is because i slack off alot, lol ;), but the teachers are aweome!!! they wont just give you a bad grade on a test, the techers let you retake the test, some three times, and others unlimited, they also write you back telling you what you did wrong on some quetions, and on others, how amazing you did them, i reccommend flvsto anyone diciplined enough to not slack off

I am very sad right now. I want to kill myself. I was playing minecraft with my teacher, I got mad because he gave me a C on my homework. I then attacked him with my golden sword, but little did I know he had a diamond sword. He chopped me to pieces and when I saw his face grinning I never respawned and deleted the world. My life has ended, not only in minecraft but irl. Goodbye goobye everybody.

It's pretty bad. The work load is way too much, and some of the questions and notes are completely irrelevant. most of the notes are just filler so it takes more time to read. It's too stressful. I would not recommend it.

Trying to get anything from FLVS over the phone is a HORRIBLE and PAINFUL experience. My daughter has been in the program for 3 years and did not receive her Intent to Return letter. We have called numerous times about it. I'm on never ending hold AGAIN with your call center. They keep telling me that they cannot do anything and to wait for the e-mail and wait for the link, but today is the LAST DAY to register according to the woman on the phone. Service is horrible. You should call the toll free number and be connected to people that can actually do something to fix the situation. Whenever we have an issue it takes hours of time and sometimes dozens of contacts to try and fix it. NOT ACCEPTABLE. If you are that overbooked, you should not take new students. Moving from one grade to the next should not be this difficult. Also, I'd like you to see you reply back with a plan or information on how you are going to fix your problems. Not the same generic "thank you and we are working on it..." So many people have told you the same thing! Who has taken responsibility over there and actually FIXED YOUR ISSUES? What SPECIFIC and MEASURABLE action have you actually taken. I used to rave about FLVS. If you are thinking about signing up....DON'T DO IT!! Not until they fix their issues and get things resolved. As I'm typing this, my phone timer is at 43 minutes and 2 seconds for someone to simply acknowledge that my daughter is returning to school. Unbelievable. Absolutely terrible customer service.

For all the people reading this, I want to tell you something. If you are going to take Spanish 1 on FLVS, make sure you have Ms. Nora Hagan as your Spanish 1 teacher. I had Ms. Nora Hagan, and she was the BEST teacher that I have ever had. She made Spanish 1 so easy for me. And I bet you 100% she'll do the same for you too.

Everyday when I submitted an assignment, I knew that she was always there if I had any questions on Spanish 1, and she would get my assignment graded in less than 12 hours, sometimes she'll even grade your assignment on the spot if you call her up and ask her!

FLVS, I want you to promote Ms. Nora Hagan, and please give her a HUGE raise. As big as you can! She 100% hands down deserves it.

I am now in Spanish 2 on FLVS, although I don't have Ms. Hagan for my Spanish 2 teacher, I can now speak and write more Spanish then I have ever been able to before. Thanks Ms. Hagan. Again, you are truly the best teacher that any student can ever have on the FLVS platform!!!!

Thank you for making Spanish so super easy for me Ms. Hagan!!! You da the best!!!!

Also, thanks FLVS for making Spanish so easy with the platform that you have, and all the awesome teachers you have on staff!!! Spanish could've never been so easy!!! I enjoy every moment being on FLVS!!!

As a student this is a system that is not coordinated well there is lack of communication, teachers have not answered the phone once when ive called them. When they dont answer they don't call you back so if you need them to explain something to you in that moment, well you're screwed. Also the instructions are very confusing, on how to do the assignment and all around just a bad system. The only good thing about FLVS is the flexibility but that's it, and to be honest it's not worth the headache. In my opinion i do not recommend having other students go here unless they have fixed the problems.

I think the ratings of this program really make a statement when the parents give flvs 5/5 stars and all of the students give it 1/1 stars. This system is the worst thing i have ever done in my life. The courses are extremely disorganized, unhelpful, and confusing. I made the stupid decision of signing up for an AP class and am now completely unprepared for the exam i have to take at the end of the year. Don't make the same mistake i did and safe yourself. flvs is living hell and will stress you out so much you will grow grey hairs prematurely. I hate this website and please don't send me any of those stupid copy and paste replies flvs.

It's been a whole week and I have a bunch of stuff my math teacher needs to grade and she just keeps ignoring me when i'm trying to hurry up before summer begins I could be already done but she won't grade my stuff 2 DBAs behind because of her. There's more where that came from.

Thank you Mr. Leaderofthepies. You are perhaps the only student who truely understands the core intent of Florida Virtual School. Most kids are overwhelmed with the amount of work, and think that the lessons are too complicated, but you are very intelligent, in that you have narrowed it down to it's very simple nature. Deez nuts. Gahtee.

Update: You're very welcome Mr. Leaderofhtepies. I'm always there to complement a bright student.

The glaring flaw with the FLVS is that all the courses try to hard to incorporate computer programs into the course work. There is no need to make someone spend half a day downloading java and adobe programs to complete one 25 point assignment.

My first class I have taken with FLVS was Drivers ...

My first class I have taken with FLVS was Drivers Ed, which started taking August or September 2014, and my teacher, Ms Gray, was not very pleasant. It is also unpleasant to have a teacher call you or your parents about a millions times to remind you that you must complete x amount of assignments per week, but you can only help where you are at in the course. You definitely cannot work at your own pace unless you decide you want to work at a highly fast pace, then you can definitely finish your class as FAST as you want. It is quite annoying how the system times out a lot and you must find your spot again or restart an assignment. Sometimes the courses will have outdated information and word the lessons, assignments and tests to where its not able to be understood. I had to withdrawal because I couldn't keep up. Then, I signed up again after I switched schools, second semester, and I had Ms Jabo. She was definitely more hands on than Ms Gray. She didn't call me 30 times a week either. When I needed help with system errors and DBAs she was helpful and she was also helpful when I needed directions on how to get my permit. Then, during the summer I took chemistry so I could take AP Bio instead in 10th grade. The teacher, Ms Edwards was very nice and all, but she called quite a bit as well. I got through a couple modules but I couldn't understand anything in the class and I somehow passed the tests and quizzes and I withdrawn passing but I wish I could've really understand it because my chemistry teacher is horrible in school. But once again, I didn't understand any of the concepts. Now I am taking Spanish, I just entered this class like a 3 days ago. It already looks like useless information. I havent interacted with my teacher yet and haven't done my welcome call so I have no review on my teacher yet. Overall, FLVS could be A LOT better and if most people can't even complete electives on here, I definitely don't recommend full time, it might be even worse. I'm only completeing a couple segments of some classes for credit recovery, but other than that, I'm wouldn't recommend any core classes on FLVS.

My son is hanging in with the program well, but I have to be honest...

I'm not really impressed. I chose this program thinking that there might be a difference from traditional school. Give my son a "love" of learning again, but unfortunately, I've found that this school is no different from the traditional.

They teach for TESTS!! That's it! That's all these kids learn for. I'm just very disappointed in the overall american school system, it's doing such a disservice to our children. Out here in the REAL world, we're not taking tests everyday, we're living real life and real life experiences. Why aren't these kids, especially high schoolers learning about subjects that are truly going to pertain to life??(ie finances, occupational trades, etc)....I just thought that this school would be a little different...On top of that, it's TOO much work... I swear these kids are getting 40/50 assignments per week from 4-5 different teachers...they say work at their own pace, yet they lower their grades...and all of the assignments for different teachers are due at the same time.... it's too much... there's no organization... you can literally look at your child's school schedule the night before, then check again in the morning and classes have been added that weren't there before....So, my hopes about this program were dashed... I'm just trying to get my son through this year and over the summer, I'm looking into private schools... something independent... I'm just rather tired of the american school system on a collective basis...it's just terrible......but I do give it two stars because my son likes the flexibility and the teachers are nice

Very frustrating when you pay for a course through GLOBAL and you have to wait for someone to call you back when there is an issue that needs attention. A simple question in trying finding out if a grade was submitted to a physical school. You cannot speak to anyone when dial in. They also do not tell that they are not available from July 01- through July 07 until they transfer your call.

It's really stressful and difficult. When I submit a document, my teacher won't receive it and I get a failing grade. Also, my teacher will sometimes add extra work to my assignments that wasn't even listed in the assignment. It makes it very hard for me to pass. I'm not very impressed.

I began this school year in a regular public school, Gulf Breeze Middle School in Gulf Breeze FL. After the first 9 weeks it was clear it wasn't working for me. Considering the bureaucracy, large classroom sizes and the growing lack of teachers that are truly interested in the students education. My parents and I decided to take a different approach. My mom called several different home schooling options until we finally decided on FLVS. Enrolling was super easy. There is someone that walks you through every single step. Like I said earlier, I signed up 9 weeks after school started but it was fine. The program starts when you start. So, I wasn't behind. As long as you stay on pace (which there are different option to choose from) you are fine. Regarding the reviews that are complaining about the workload and falling behind, well.... that's not the schools fault. You are responsible for doing the work and turning it in on time. I am currently enrolled in 4 courses at a traditional pace (32 weeks). This is considered to be a full load. I turn in about 3 assignments a day. My school day is usually from 8 to 2 Monday through Thursday. However there are some days that may be shorter or longer. Right now, I am scheduled to finish May 22 which is 3 weeks before I would have finished at Gulf Breeze Middle School. I have gone from making C's to straight A's. Not because the work is easier but because I can work at my own pace. I have 4 great instructors that I have never had a problem getting in touch with. I am able to text them for simple questions about an assignments. I've never waited more than a few hours for a text back. I always set up my DBA's (oral exam) through text first which like I said my instructors get back with me within hours. The most I've waited for a DBA was the next morning when my instructor had available time. I gave the school 4 out of 5 stars because it takes a few weeks to get use to the website and some of the required activities. Like the collaborations in the live lessons. I found these to be confusing at first. However, the instructor was nice about how nervous I was and quickly put me at ease. By the 2nd or 3rd live lesson you know what's going on. I truly feel that the instructors I have with FLVS are great but this school is for students that are willing to do the work for themselves and not rely on a teacher to tell you to do the work. If you procrastinate this may not be the school for you. If you are willing to do your work on time and not be lazy, FLVS is a great school. I hope this review helped give you a true understanding of this program.

My 8th grader has done FLVS for 2 years and he loves it. The flexibility of it is very convenient when taking other classes, his teachers are only an email/call away, he has learned so much and even received HS credits.

I like that you can choose your pace but the teachers don't let you. They take weeks just to respond to a question. They never answer their phones for DBA's. They grade wrongly. And they are extremely unqualified. If you have the teacher Mrs. Belizair try and switch to a different one. She is the laziest most unqualified teacher I have ever had.
