I love FLVS. I have been attending for almost two years and it has helped me in so many ways! I am more goal oriented and have not been bullied since. FLVS has directed me in my path of life. I want to be a Forensic Nurse. The teachers are wonderful and caring. They know how to help and there are many different, amazing resources for you.THERE ARE EVEN CLUBS so you can get involved with other classmates :) The live lessons and collaborations are great. It is like you are in a real school.. just virtually :) I would recommend sending your child or yourself to Florida Virtual School. I promise, you will NOT turn back!

We made the switch to FLVS FT Elementary this year and are so happy with our decision. We are in a very highly rated district and the FLVS curriculum is far better than what we were getting at brick and mortar. Everything has been so well communicated from the very beginning even with the influx of new students this year. There is a lot of work but we don t start till 9am and take several breaks throughout the day. Our teacher is phenomenal. My daughter gets more personal interaction and feedback than ever. And we have a direct line to the teacher if we ever have any questions. Every assignment that is turned in she sends an email detailing what she loved about her work and if anything needs to be corrected. I can t say enough great things about this program. I also have older kids in flex classes that they take in addition to their brick and mortar classes. That program requires more independence but there is more than enough material and again any questions they have they can usually instantly connect with their teacher via text, email or phone call.
It is really easy you do about 3-4 assessments a week some courses are a little hard like critical thinking in which you write a lot of essays some are easy like science in which you usually do a five question test and a little writing in the end of test, this online school is only for people who want to learn not for those who want to sit down and do nothing.
Depending on the course, it's good. My English 3 and other courses outside of math were cake. My Algebra 2 teacher is just not helpful, he makes everything seem like... I'm supposed to be understand it right there and then and he's not good at communicating either. He talks monotone and slow... and he's just not good.
In the beginning of this school i thought is was going to be different i thought i was going to have some helpful courses to help me with my math class and help me touch up on somethings in math, and working at my own pace sounded alright. So when my mother signed me up for it i was a little hesitant but did it. Then i found out it was a TERRIBLE experience. This work at your own pace bs, i a total lie, how does turning in an assignment 3 TIMES A WEEK sound huh? Sounds like to me thats a pace they set up, not me. And not to mention the lessons explanations are HORRIBLE. I mean some videos are helpful but there arent videos for every course. Not to mention the teachers. I started out with a pretty alright teacher, but then she changed courses and became a reading teacher and now I'm stuck with a HORRIBLE teacher named Lisa Beatty. She never responds to my emails, texts, or phone calls unless i have to nag her and email/call her multiple times. And not to mention DBA's I've tried to set up a time 4 TIMES with her and she always forgets. This particular teacher is lazy and unresponsive. This is unacceptable behavior from a teacher and this shall go on no longer. Also if you don't follow the pace they want you to go at good luck trying to catch up because once you get behind there is no catching up. The lessons aren't even helpful once you do those lessons you won't even remember them they are totally useless and did not even help me. Ive been having to study on my own time to get better at algebra 1. How am i supposed to do 3 assignments a week with my regular homework from school and the studying i have to do because your poor lessons won't teach me what i need to do?If anyone is reading this DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. especially parents who are thinking about it.It wont help you and you will be better off with it if you just study. I suggest looking at kahn academy videos for math instead of going to this TRASH school. Ive gotten to the point where i am working at my own pace, i dont even care if I'm behind anymore. This school can go suck one.
I've had e-school for two years, first year was fine, second year is EXTREMELY stressful. Be careful as to what course(s) you take, and research what the class requirements are before you sign up.
My daughter started FLVS in 6th grade. I registered for the homeschool instead of the full time option, so we were able to take classes anytime of the year and at our own pace. She was able to finish all her requirements at 14, so we were able to register once she turned 15 in college as a dual enrollment student. I am very thankful for the teachers and the staff in this institution. FLVS is not a viable solution for everyone because the student needs to be able to be responsible and independent with little supervision. My daughter excelled in this program. She was always a studious child, but FLVS taught her to challenge herself. I highly recommend it to my friends and family. In fact, many of my friends already do it. This is the best option to any Public School curriculum.
I would just like like to say that the 1 stars given to Florida virtual school is ridiculous. I and many have found it very easy and simple to use. The teachers and staff are very kind and are very willing to help each and every student. When I took Mrs. Pacceca pre-calculus class over the summer between 9th and 10th grade and she was kind and helped me through it. Even when I became lazy and failed to meet deadlines, she continued to help me and open her schedule so I could finish the course with a good grade and go on prepared for AP Calculus in 10th grade. The staff is kind and I was able to succeed in my goals because of them. I hope parents do not judge Florida Virtual School because of the ratings. Although I wouldn't entirely recommend virtual school over the actual classroom but I believe tat a virtual classroom might be a lot better for some students. I did not like the discussion based assessments though
It's an awesome alternative. I did both FLVS and high school at the same time. I completed all my credits a year early and was able to graduate as a junior rather than a senior. Rather than graduating early, I decided to dual enroll and now I only have one class at my high school. Through FLVS AP courses (and some dual classes and school classes) I will graduate with my general 36 hours of education. The teachers are mainly available. I've only had problems with two teachers in my four years of taking FLVS courses. Honestly, the work is nothing. The most assignments I had was in AP Literature with about 115 assignments. My AP biology and AP environmental courses only have 88 assignments in them, so imagine what a regular course would have. Anyone who rates this badly is due to their lack of communication and work in the course. It's three assignments a week and even if you don't do them, they won't do anything until your second week of not submitting work. Some courses shouldn't be taken online if the student is incapable. For example , upper level math is difficult and Spanish is as well because you have to record yourself. FLVS has been a experience. My GPA started out as a 1.5 my freshman year because I was messing around in school. Through taking there course, I brought my GPA up from a 1.5 to a 3.0. Now I'm close to a 3.5 GPA and it is slowly but surely increasing with the help of this school.
Working in Flvs is like the best thing that has happened to me sure there may be a few bugs but IT is on it to get it fixed. My teachers have been wonderful and my grades couldn't have gotten any better I am learning more then I was in public school. I've been here since my 8th grade year and started my freshmen year with math and English and I finished my first half of algebra1 and engilsh1 like two months before school got out. Other then that I recommend this school to any one who is dedicated to get there work done right and fast.
IGNORE THE ONE STAR REVIEWS. Why? Because most of them were written during the pandemic and this school had to scale from 2,500 to 15,000 students in a matter of months and tech problems were unavoidable. In a normal year, this school is fantastic! The teachers, administrators, students all AMAZING! We highly recommend this opportunity to anyone who has children that are self-motivated and well-organized.
Been a student here for a few years. I love being able to work when I want to, how I want to and coordinate my own schedule. The curriculum in most classes is good, but the teachers are hit or miss, and the staff is atrocious. In all of my time, trying to contact my home room teacher about a problem, the support team, and my counselors was like pulling teeth. They rarely, if ever responded, and when they did it was days after my initial attempts to contact. This makes the experience a lot worse. If you want to make your own curriculum? Fantastic. Good customer support and staff? You'd have more luck getting a response talking to a wall.
I took Macroeconomics with Jennifer Berghorn, and I had such an amazing experience! She was one the best teachers that I have ever had at FLVS. She was super speedy grading my assignments, and responding to my questions. She also helped me understand assignments I didn't know how to do. Overall, she was a great teacher and I would recommend that every one take the class with her!
FLVS IS AMAZING I THINK FLVS HAS A GREAT LEARNING EXPEREINCE I THINK MY TEACER TALKED TO ME LIKEM SHE CAR ES ALOT but some teachers dont feel well wer shoulld stop being mean and not hate please
The problem is not FLVS, it is the teachers that they select. I have had some very rude teachers while I have been taking these courses, and I just reported them to their principal or to FLVS themselves. Next year, the teacher wasn't even there. The material is very good it pushes you to make you the best person you can be.
Treat kids like they are five, really minions? in seventh grade? Actually thought I could be something till this absolute, despicable, money festering, excuse of a website ruined it all. Surprised they haven't added pop ups and ads, if the government is supporting garbage like this I have lost all hope. Now here let's play the guessing game which pre-written response can the person copy and paste! Here's my answer...
We re disappointed to hear you feel that way. That certainly isn t the experience we strive to create for our students and families.
We understand FLVS, your low paid teachers, no matter your experience you still get paid the same amount of money, 45,000 a year isn't enough. Your going to have strive to create that experience if you want more students.
Terrible experience, My teachers are extremely nice, but yet the website is one of the worst i have seen. I have problems with turning things in and getting them graded, they don't always get into the system so that's nice! NOT!
Wish it had a better system, because the teachers are extremely kind.
Tips to anyone who wants to try it.
Don't use a overprotective antivirus, it has made getting work in extremely hard for me.
Always call after submitting something to a teacher. or send a email.
NEVER delete a file you might need because if it doesn't get in you're gonna have a bad time.
You HAVE to stay motivated, if you struggle with depression you will not be able to do this!
NO MATTER what the pace chart says, submit 3 A WEEK.
If you're doing a full school year, ONLY take 3 courses at a time!
The school like all for proof could care less about the students. Teachers do NOT teach grade papers, return calls. They say all year anytime - then push the kids. The lessons are ambiguous and they expect the kids to keep a deadline and redo things over and over- AVOID THIS SCHOOL LIKE THE PLAGUE
I'm not a fan of FLVS. It's extremely hard to learn concepts when just reading directions. I prefer to have an interactive lesson so i can have my questions answered. When i'm confused, i'm forced to look up the material which really doesn't help in the long run.
My grandson was stressing so much with FLVS it is not because of how many assignments he does a week it is that how HARD they are he is in 6th grade and im struggling with some of them but i will give it 2 stars because you can sleep in.
Ms. Sessions just has this tone that says "I don't care." and Ms. Nevad is great, but she needs to learn some Spanish. I can't understand her half of the time.
One, I wrote an ENTIRE essay for three hours but got locked out because I was "inactive" cause I was writing the essay on word so I didn't lose it. Two, when they unlocked it, I had a different prompt and they wouldn't let just send in what I had already worked on. Three, they're pretty unhelpful with what to fix and turn in - you basically have to teach yourself everything. Four, they say you can go at your own pace, it's a lie. Five, you don't even learn anything because you only care about completing the assignments on time and grades. I don't suggest it at all.
Worst place ever. Lack of communication. My niece was set up and humiliated by the integrity team and her math teacher. She worked so hard. She was force to take a test with a proctor. She had good grade throughout the year. Because she failed the test with proctor, her math teacher failed her in course although the course average was a 73% she was given a "fail". Now, she has to do the entire course again. Anna Beard from the integrity team was the worst person to communicate. Some people should not be working with children especially with children with mental health history. They really made a lot of damage.
Good afternoon, My son just finished his Chinese 1 class. I just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know how awesome it was to work with Ms. Yinan Wang. Her communication was so good and her grading was very prompt. My son suffers from anxiety and her calm demeanor really helped my son be successful in this class. Sincerely, Sabrina Christy
5 days ago they said I "forged" my work and 90% of it was copied and only four words where change. BS ARE YOU KIDDING ME I COPIED MY ANSWERS FROM MY OWN DOCUMENT INTO A NEW ONE AND THESE IDIOTS SAID I PLAGIARIZED YEAH MY OWN SELF NOW I HAVE SOME DOCUMENT THAT SAYS I FORGED WHICH PRETTY MUCH WILL PREVENT ME FROM GETTING INTO ANY CLUBS AND WILL HURT MY COLLEGE APPLICATIONS ALL BECAUSE SOME RETARDED PROGRAM SAID I PLAGIARIZED AND THEIR IDIOTIC STAFF WON'T LISTEN TO REASON THE ONLY THING THAT HELPED WAS IMAGINING HANGING THEM WITH BARBWIRE AND BURNING THEIR HEADQUARTERS TO THE GROUND I WILL NOW HAVE THE PLEASURE OF SPENDING ALL MY SPARE TIME RUINING THEIR REPUTATION AND COMPANY. I'll do everything and anything just to show them they messed with the wrong honors student I'll run fill their company files with so many emails no students can communicate with their teachers fill the internet with bad reviews. I will reveal databases with help from a few "someones" from China I met at a prestigious computer summer camp and even some of the good employees who want to fix the wrongs they've committed to their clients. Revealing the disgusting insides of their scam company dedicated to ruin and destroy with a pretty face on the outside sell that info to the media which will do whole shows on the corruption of this company.. Blog about their company and pay others to blog as well. When I'm done when you look up FLVS you will have to go though a list of other websites under the same name dedicated to bad reviews about them. I will unite the children to show we will not stand by while wicked greedy adults give us impossible tasks and standardized tests in which they succeed by breaking children with pressured environments and killing creativity with white boxes no talking if you don't figure it out our way you are wrong and forming us into the mindless working oblivious drones required to keep this wicked government from being destroyed by the educated and logical. The only way they get away with this is the knowledge that children won't fight back and they can control them in any way they want.
So frustrated by the lame negative reviews. My son has been attending FLVS for the past year and we are VERY impressed by the program. The one on one attention is far superior than that of a traditional high school! The honors curriculum is challenging but still manageable. And when's the last time yout child's teacher TEXT you with their grade, asked if you have any questions or letting you know if their on pace? This happens REGULARLY! And in regards to technical difficulty ... we've had maybe 2 issues in the past year that were addressed and resolved within 24 hours! It takes a motivated student and an involved parent to make this work. Don't expect to sign up and be done. Just like a traditional high school, a parent needs to ne involved with their child's education.
Hello, My son Liam just finished his class with Mrs. Donley. She was extremely nice and helpful, always available, it was a real pleasure to get in contact with her. She was able to keep my son motivated during the entire segment. (!)
Mr.Khalifa in Algebra 1 is by far one of the most horrible human beings I have ever met. He refused to give me honors credit in which I completely worked my ass off. He even yelled at my mom after she said I couldn't understand him due to his slight accent. It's just horrible to have people like that ruin this program. It's a shame.
I enjoyed FLVS emmensly, I had Mr. Torres as my instructor for Algebra 1. I have taken a few classes on FLVS, and the teachers have been great, but Mr.Torres really sticks out for many reasons; I will just name a few: - He returns messages and answers questions almost immediately - He always grades my assignments promptly, and usually within 15 minutes - Some of the concepts I have had trouble on in Algebra 1, Mr. Torres immediately resolved and clearly explained them. - But most of all, he has always been cheerful and motivated me whenever I had any assignments to complete. In all, it was a treat to be able to work with Mr. Torres in Algebra 1 and flvs in general, and I believe he has gone over and above in all he has taught.
I moved to Florida not too long ago from a school which practiced block scheduling and FLVS has been a life saver for making up credits and empty slots in my schedule. The teachers are helpful and the courses are easy to understand. This school isn't for everyone; to succeed I've noticed that students need to have dedication and responsibility. Whilst some assignments may be tedious, my overall experience with FLVS has been wonderful and I'd gladly take more courses and recommend some for my friends :)
They put way to much on you. Everyday I get a new project and there's alot that goes with it. Like live lessons and mandatory phone calls and i can't even get a hold of the teachers.
Like a lot of people, I am going to recommend taking classes on Florida Virtual Schools simply because of the outstanding teachers. My teacher, Ms. Hurley, wrote "I'm your biggest fan" at the end of her welcoming letter. Things like that really make me feel like my teacher actually wants me to succeed! The actual curriculum is shaky because the teaching isn't happening live like in a classroom, but you can call your teacher and ask them questions about things that you don't understand. Florida Virtual School does have LOTS of room for improvement, but I'm going to have to give it a decent rating because of the spectacular teachers, even if most people disagree with me. If you still need convincing, a parent left a review about how her autistic child learned Algebra 1 because of his amazing teacher. It is really touching.
If you're looking for online schooling that has smaller lessons, and teaching yourself this is perfect for you. I have social anxiety so it is difficult for me to talk to teachers 1 on 1 and in a class and the teachers totally understand. If you are a struggling student I definitely would get a tutor/reach out to your teachers. I've had some really strict and some really nice teachers. If you are in 9th Grade and you are going to take Earth Space Science I recommend asking for Mrs. Michele Richardson. She is extremely helpful and kind. REMEMBER- communication is key for success in FLVS! I hope this helps!
We have started FLVS since covid due to health conditions in our home. I am extremely happy with everything we have encountered thus far. We had an easy enrollment process. When we needed tech, they walked us step by step. We are in the Flex program which has made it easier to juggle our schedules and still be homeschoolers. As far as the teachers, A+ they are great about reaching out to us and making sure we are doing well and seeing if we need any assistance. They are quick to respond when emailed or texted. They even have responded on weekends. They make sure to connect with our student. I think I have had better contact with virutal FLVS teachers than we ever did at the B&M schools. Our student has excelled and made a 360 turn in grades since making the FLVS change. I highly recommend FLVS to anyone! Remember that this whole COVID thing is a learning curve for all of us including the school. So yes, there has been some bumps in the road as far as ZOOM and the site working at times due to the influx of people that are logging on. It just takes patience of us all getting logged on. There are many other things to work on while waiting for those every now and again internet issues that arent FLVS fault!
We are new, and so far we love it! The classes are well structured and content is great. Teachers have been so kind, helpful and communicate often! My daughter, 5th grade, is learning to become more independent and is learning a new respect for school and learning. What a great decision we have made!
All this does it stress me out of it annoying to complete, the UI is god awful. Also I did not know what I am doing for a ton of the time, there is no help or ways it tells you how to do it. Terrible site, will never use again after I have to, to get the stupid 0.5 credit for graduation.
flvs is fine but their math courses are confusing. In pre calc the lessons are minimal i get questions to to stuff that were not even taught in the lesson, and their examples are basic so when it comes time to answer a hard one, you instantly get lost. I have to repeat almost every assignment because if you miss two or more out of 5, you cant take the test due to the fact they demand a 70 or better. Um hello? I thought this course was supposed to prepare us for calc but instead im wondering why i took this class. Dont give me your automated message. You just add to the anger. Also the customer service sucks. It managed to be worse than Comcast.
I think that FLVS a good resource for outside school interests. It provides a self learning environment for the students. It also teaches how to use their time wisely within the course. Couple of good courses is photography, art, music, etc. These course are taught by amazing teachers. On the other hand taking an academic class online as a substitution isn't smart. Online courses often don't teach you everything you need to know so having a legit teacher is better. I suggest that FLVS be only taken for hobbies and interests since students need the hands on interaction with the teacher and class mates. Another reason is that some teachers are horrible on FLVS. A hardworking student shouldn't get stuck with a bad teacher. Again FLVS isn't hard nor stressful, it's a great program but i don't suggest taking it for an academic class.
Flvs is horrible. I call my teach 3 times and she does not answer. I turn in my test and she does not grade it. No wonder why it has a 2.5 rating. They probably just put random grades. I don't have facebook or twitter.
They don t offer any exceptions for children with chronic anxiety, I nearly puke before any DBA I do with any teacher. Some teachers are absolutely rude and expect you to work your life away when THEY need you to.
Great curriculum and, when the student has questions, online tutoring sessions are available. With a very few exceptions-of course there is no such a thing as the perfect school, so I find that the teachers are well qualified. They work hard and are available from am to 8 pm in most cases with the Flex Program. Website easy to navigate. Some tests have more than one correct answer and some assignments are lengthy with no much point... My son has been doing it for 2 years and he is currently in 6th grade(FLEX). For the most part, he really likes it and for the most part, I recommend FLVS-Flex Program.
As a high school student , I love flvs. I complete three classes in flvs. one was a school requirement and the other two was fun classes I wanted to take to expand my knowledge on certain subjects . I recommended it to everyone. they have easy class that you take and finish these classes in one or month . plus its easy to access and you can work at your own paste.
This is not a god platform the work in my history SEGMENT exams is stuff that we have never done before. These people need to add some goddang studyguides for history it would make our lives so much easyier
i did not have the book they want me to read and that made me fail my test and they are test everyday and it was too much the the teachers were giving me things that we did not learn and when i fail that means more computer time and that is bad for your eyes
Heres the deal if you come here like everybody else expecting online school to be ten times easier than regular school doesn't that mean everyone would do it? its not easy no you have to get up your self and actually take action and do it. so many people complain about how hard it is when really all they have to do is call the teacher or look at the million resources they give you. I started 6th grade and at first for a long time i slacked and thought that everything was fine i thought 3 a week was too much for my 5 classes but in reality you are the only thing blocking your self from getting it done. so i advise anyone that wants to put there kid in online school or something be prepared. ive had cases where i hated it but i realized how much it is like regular school without all the structure you just get up and do your work instead of going to different classes and going to a lunch room. if you can stay persistent and motivated do online school. but dont do it if you think that its just gonna be some easy ride the hole time where you get all this free time to do whatever you want because its not like that. if you stay structured youll find your self loving it.
I have been attending FLVS for 3 years. I am now a senior and my experience has been excellent. The teachers I've had were very patient. When I would accidentally fall behind a few assignments, they gave me plenty of gentle reminders to turn in work. They are very flexible with turning in assignments. I had a family emergency and traveled out of the country. I couldn't access my laptop for a week. I notified all of my teachers, and there were no issues. I only had to submit an assignment for each of my courses before leaving. When I returned, I simply had to get back on pace--like nothing happened.
Pros The teachers, counselors, and staff are respectful and accommodating.
Flexible schedule ( turn in assignments at anytime )
Pace chart
Teachers respond to emails or texts in an hour or less.
DBAs ( Discussion based assessments) are quick and easy to set-up.
Cons The website itself has a bit of a learning curve to navigate through.
Website goes down for maintenance ( rarely occurs )
Some lessons required me to do the majority of the teaching by watching youtube videos, quick google searches, etc.
I don't like this and I don't believe that someone can be teached through a digital device. Their use is for helping the teacher, not replacing it. It is stupid for OCPS to make this mandatory. It is hard to navigate, lots of problems, and you can't just raise your hand and ask your teacher for help.
Incredibly horrible for anyone who thinks this could give them a boost. If you think that public schools are bad in any way, think again. These one star reviews about people getting depressed and stressed and wanting to off themselves are true. Don't think 'oh it's gonna be different with me' because I did the same thing. I've almost failed multiple classes in one single semester because of this sub par system of work. Don't think you being introverted and shy with people means you have to do work online, because you also have to talk to and contact people here, just to even think about passing. Pace charts I've been given have said to do one-two assignments for this week. Fair enough, I've done them. Now I'm withdrawn because I have to do FOUR as opposed to the two I was instructed to do by the pace charting. Having to spend my summer now finishing this work I've been held up on instead of waiting to go to high-school and see my friends again. Fun.
Math teachers seem to be aggressive and not motivating, mostly threatening to remove from class which isn t helpful. Most other teachers are ok but lack tools to help parents keep kids on track. They Say they monitor and sent notifications but when we first started having issues it was 6 weeks in history class when the teacher first notified us (we have a text that confirmed no communication was given). Then lead teacher of course blaming us. No school should set examples this way. Parents shouldn t feel to be blamed as a way out for overworked teachers, they should be directed to a successful way to adapt. No type notifications if child is falling behind, it s all monitored by their website which isn t very user friendly, me and my husband (university college graduate) are computer savvy found it difficult and outdated. Also, it took several hours to signup. We actually were told it would be better to withdraw from school when our son stared having issues with motivation instead of referring us to someone who could help (spoke to school counselor who recommended the withdrawal lol). Felt lack of communication, concern, motivation and knowledge of how to move forward successfully. Recommend looking for a school that you pay tuition, have a good website that s in this day&age, has notifications if a student is a few assignments behind not weeks and has actual counseling with licensed counselor or referral available if any issues arise. Because we started here at this school we face no motivation from our son to get back into school. I m not going to blame everything on the school bc my son didn t enjoy going to an actual school but is extremely intelligent and wanted to make the stress of school less so we tried online schooling. He started out fine but as soon as he learned the teachers didn t keep track of what or how he was doing, he fell behind. Then it continued to get worse even after restricting time on computer, struggling how to correct it with little to no help from school counselor we withdrew. Spend the money to educate if you are doing online because of any issues with your child and school.
I just started this home school and its annoying to navigate thru and it should be simpler for newer students as my mom is who knows where and my dad is never home I have to do it by myself I just wish there was a simpler way to find out what to do and to find what I need to do quicker I've done Edgenuity and Apex and it was far more simpler and better
My daughter is in Jackson Heights Middle School. She was taking the Physical fitness class with Mrs. West.
Please let me start with the previous experience that I had with virtual school. Last year my daughter took her math class through this program and my daughter and I had the most horrible experience. I was very hesitant about her taking another course this way.
We started by speaking to Mrs. West and I explained our trouble. Mrs. West explained the entire way her class worked and told me she would keep in touch with us. This teacher took her time to explain the lesson when my daughter had questions, and she also kept me posted on all progress. I was so comfortable with her and her caring attitude. She let us know how to reach her and she answered back when Justina needed her help.
Mrs. West is a really great and caring teacher. This is a bitter/sweet ending for me. It is so hard to find such a great teacher and so hard to know that she cannot teach my daughter more. You have a really great and caring teacher in Mrs. West. I wish we can have more like her in our school system
Thank you for providing our daughter with such a great lady. I am very thankful for all her help
If you get a Personal Fitness Teacher pick Mrs.West! She was a awesome teacher who made virtual school a great experience, she actually talks to you like she cares about the subject you are on, and she relates with you on a personal level to help you get a deeper understanding of the course material. By far the best flvs teacher i've had. I've had fitness lifestyle design before Mrs.West and the teacher for that class could not be anywhere near how Mrs.West helped me. Thank you !
I'm very dissatisfied with FLVS this year. They had my full support last year with the awesome curriculum that was set in place but this year, it's horrible! My 2 kids that are homeschooled through FLVS loved it last year and would sometimes finish the course work early for that week. Now, they are having to work through the weekend due to the massive amounts of quizzes, tests, and binder activities. I also feel the teachers are less active this year and the parents are teaching the entire course. I felt as a home educator, more supported last year with the teachers. I think only allowing students to take a test one time is stressful on them, plus if they miss a question, it drops their grades drastically. PLEASE bring back the old curriculum. Also, class time isn't required this year and I know why now..there isn't any extra time to attend them. The students are too busy trying to complete the massive amount of work for the week. My kids couldn't even try the skill builder programs because there is no time!! I love FLVS but you guys need to take a step back and look at how much you've changed the program and realize that maybe change is not always a good thing. Just a thought.
Hi, I just completed the fitness lifestyle design course with Mr. Morse with a 97! I just wanted to say that Mr. Morse was an amazing teacher, he was so easy to talk to. When I did my oral component he really helped make me less nervous which led me to do better during them. All in all it was a great experience and Mr. Morse did a great job.
I don t have a problem with the teaching itself ,but the service is not that great. I have been trying to contact someone about a class issue that will negatively effect my grade, but they keep sending me straight to voicemail. I wish I just did traditional school, but I did not want to put my family in that position.
honestly it s such trash. now since you have to have one online credit to graduate, i m taking a P.E class on there. the teacher isn t helpful at all, and the lessons and activities are useless.
for example, i m a fairly busy person, i do musical theatre, AND it s currently summer and my parents planned trips and things for us to do. yesterday, i was in disney with my friend when i got a message from my FLVS teacher telling me to turn in some work (that i know i had turned in already). i explained to her that i m out of town for the day and that i know i turned it in and she told me if i didn t turn it in that day i would be kicked out of the class.
well, i didn t get home until midnight, and it didn t let me into the class. i texted her this morning and she hasn t responded, and i m sure whatever she says won t help anyways. i already put a lot of time into this class, and i m hoping they don t kick me out for good. the time restraints and flexibility is ridiculous and isn t manageable at all. it put a fair amount of stress and worry on me the whole day when i was with my friend (who is leaving for college soon).
tldr; the teachers aren t helpful and threaten that you ll get kicked out left and right, the site doesn t respect your time or schedule, and it s terrible to function with.
