Flughafen Berlin-Tegel Review

The airport is too small for the number of passengers. There are too few seats and quiet places to stay. When dealing with two gates side by side, the strike is chaotic and you can barely pass the area if necessary. Finally build the BER !!!!

Unfortunately, always too crowded and dirty, as a family traveling to and from the hotel is not much fun.

An absolute disaster !!! Why do you have to wait for 45 minutes on your luggage although the plane is not even 100m away !!!!! Zero understanding !!!

Old but oh! Quick in, fast away.
Just a pity that there is no S-Bahn connection.

Very scanty facilities at the gate after you pass through the scanty customs.

Pitiful organization. 10 people "working" on each security line while people standing in a queue that goes outside the terminal. Lamentable

Tegel is too small for an airport despite being the main international-route operational hub of capital city. Not spacious at all for the passengers they handling. Always end up bumping the baggage cart with someone elses. Most of the staff is non german people and they cant even speek basic english. Staff is bit hostile for foreigners. Cleanliness is acceptable but the food counters are limited and small

Terrible airport staff, some unable (or not wanting to) to speak anything other than German (though I'm part of a terminal where there were only international flights).

Terminal C at the Tegel airport left the most negative impressions ((There is no place to sit because it is always clogged, you have to sit right on the floor. It is very small, not comfortable, there is always a queue in the toilet, there is no normal opportunity to return a taxi free, because you must first go to the term A (there is a customs office that puts a stamp), and then return to terminal C, where you fly from. Very small gate area. One very small duty free shop after security check. Ridiculously primitive and ascetic place. Avoid this air port if you can! I wouldn't spend any time here, if not nessesary.

A scandalous airport for a leading European capital! No direct connection to the city, besides the obligation to go outside and walk to pass from one terminal to another ...

Well functioning airport. In Terminal A, you had direct access to the security checkpoint next to the check-in and from there to the gate. Most cafes seem to be located before the security check.

Incredible that the airport should not be soon. I love the small but service oriented airport which is really close to the city center and is especially suitable for a short break.

Today, probably my last landing (arrival), at this airport.
No matter how crowded and cramped it was, it's a great airport; everything clearly within (gates), not too many frills (shops and decorations) which you generally don't necessarily need at an airport and easy to reach.
As already mentioned; I love this airport and would be overjoyed if it stayed

Can't judge the airport from the arrival side because our flight landed in SXF instead of TXL due to its delayed departure from Helsinki Airport. As for the departure in the early morning, I can say that the overall impression was OK at first especially after we passed the security control soooooo smoothly and quickly... but the filthy toilets spoiled it a lot. It was horrible, never seen this before in other airports. Also there was some confusion with the gate of our flight until the moment when the boarding was announced. The Terminal C didn't feel like crowded too much, there were plenty of people and flights departing in the morning, mostly RyanAir and easyJet.

By far the worst airport in a modern western country. Temperatures that rise to a sauna like environment. Border / luggage control is dated from the 80's, at the gate... If you can, avoid this place.

It was a very nice experience in Flughafen Berlin-Tegel. I think security could be increased a bit more, they should always keep our security high.

The purest impertinence. One-way flight was catastrophic with almost two hours delay because there was too little check in desk open, there was no bus driver for the shuttle to the plane and then suddenly the flight slot for 50 min. was locked.
The space in the airport is absolutely not enough for the mass of people traveling to different destinations at the same time. Back to the luggage issue was an impertinence. We waited an hour on the baggage conveyor until it even started to roll. Accordingly, the cost of parking our collector went to immeasurable. We will never fly back from Berlin Tegel, nor with a cheap airline that rips mercilessly and absolutely unjustifiably at the airport.

Terrible airport. Perhaps even worse than London Luton. Few food options and they close early so no hot drinks.

Catastrophic! That should be the figurehead of Berlin? Absolutely no longer up-to-date. Connection to the city center only by bus.

Desperately unqualified staff.
I have just received information from Lufthansa that my flight to Frankfurt has been canceled. Lufthansa Ticket System is offline. Naturally.
So I call the TXL to ask if there is a direct line to the ticket office in Tegel. The woman on the phone told me that I should just go to the airport. That would be my best way to get to Frankfurt. When I asked if she could at least see if any flights were still going to Frankfurt, she said only: "We have stopped the apron clearance because of thunderstorms."
Would have been a useful piece of information before flying to the airport in good luck to get another ticket at the ticket counter.

terrible! would not recommend. the service here is horrible and it took 3 hours to get our luggage.

That should be an airport of the federal capital?
Even the doner kebab in front of the shopping center with me around the corner is larger with its improvised outdoor area of pavilions..and modern..and, above all, more comfortable!

When you land, you feel like someone is leaving (completely from the exit to the bus to the main train station) and on departure as if you were sitting in the nursery in the pick-up room and waiting for your mom to come.

Go with plenty of time ... Since it is a real delay to have to wait forever to pass the security arches, on the other hand the waiting room for boarding is small and the seats are very few ...

Older the airport but check in works fine. Staff helpful and friendly. Access is Ok and easy to reach by taxi. Ways are often a bit longer, so arrive in advance.

Berlin air is absolutely a joke. Whey overbook there flights and gives no information.
The airport is the worst in all of Europe.

Poor service, very few staff, continuous delays, so disgusting I've never seen it. A simple flight has become an odyssey. Airport to AVOID.

Probably one of the worst Airport I have been in the European Union.

(Horrible) inhumane conditions prevail there, our suitcases are still at the airport and no one is doing something to our suitcases to send although it is known that they are still there our holiday is in the bucket !!!!!

Too small facilities like cafeteria or duty free on departures. Bad treatment by staff at checkin when asked for emergency seating on plane was refused sternly by s.pidde! Reminded me of Faulty Tower's germans episode... Bad treatment of customers should not exist in this day and age!

I'll miss it ... A piece of history and culture is disappearing from Berlin ...

I love him, I can't believe that he should be closed. Tegel is Berlin. Berlin is Tegel. I saw him at Covid. There was enough space for the first time. No matter, even if Tegel was always too tight: leave Tegel open !!!

The worst European airport I've ever visited! No seating place, aircraft delays without any information, reluctant staff. As a bonus at the airport, nobody knows English. Tegel never again!

Catastrophe. Always nice to come home. Especially if you come from Singapore and have learned how airport pores should work.

A completely chaotic and crowded airport. This is really embarrassing for Germany's capital. Sit? None. Everything is proven, many people have already spread on the floor. Drink on hot summer days? Nope. Everything is empty and if you are lucky, you will find a bottle of water in the corner, which costs only 5.00 . At other airports I get for this money 2-3 bottles. You should not expect toilet paper - at least three cabins had none. No wonder the displays were turned off for evaluation, who should have a reason for positive feedback in this juice shop.

Quite possibly the worst airport in Europe. It is made worse by the airport and airline staff who work there, who generally seem numb to the utter chaos around them and just don't care about the needs of travelers.

By far the worst airport I have ever seen and entered. A huge embarrassment for Berlin, finally it is tight !!!!!

Very oddly organized, the system slows everything down and results in endless queues for everything. Always a very long wait for the luggages, which is never explained. The toilets are small and disgusting.

Tegel. Short ways. Berlin charm. The airport has achieved unimaginable achievements in recent years. Has worked well beyond actual capacity for a long time. Berlin's citizens had decided to leave the airport open. The Red / Red government has ignored the will of the people and is also closing this piece of Berlin's soul. Please keep this in mind for your next election!

Super airport, short distances, clear and not overloaded with shops. Here you can easily reach a connecting flight in 30 minutes. Cleanliness of public areas including sanitary areas is very good compared to other airports.

Like most in Berlin I hope that my next visit will be on the new airport.

For such logistics at the airport of the capital should be ashamed of the whole country. When there is one turn for 50 gates, you arrive an hour before the gate closes and you are late for the plane!

For the performance of this day, I can only say a star. We needed almost 1 hour at the security checkpoint, because the security officers working there had nothing else to do than talk to each other instead of looking at the screen to go ahead. The best was when we were done about 50 people came to us who did not manage their flight due to this special handling of the controls. The only bright spot today was the seller who served us particularly quickly and friendly

Space is the issue...for such a busy and important airport..

Long queues in terminal C which is just a shed. Not enough seats and toilets are very smelly... very few staff manning the food and drink kiosks. Vending machines were not working...

A very great and particularly centrally located airport. I have flown here a few times and everything has always worked great. Only people work here. A lot of bad reviews here are really superfluous. But there are people who always have something to complain about! :)

You realize that he should have been long ago. Old, outdated and nested. Berlin can look forward to Berlin-Brandenburg.

Disarmingly disorganised for Germany, it belongs in a 1970's cold war movie. Once you are out of here get the train everywhere as that proved the easiest option

When it's winter, going from 1 terminal to another bothers a little hehe ..

Not clean, bad smell, ugly and only a few shops etc. Worst airport I've ever been to.

Waited at counter for ages before check in started. No help from information staff. Shocking this is an international airport in Germany. Poor signage. Not many food kiosks or much shopping. Rude and unhelpful airport security guard and staff.
Very poorly connected to public transport. Very poor toilet situation and signage.

Atleast it had free wifi and charging points in the terminals.

Not to far from the city, but small with pretty poor facilities (for a big city). Will be much nicer flying to Berlin when the new airport is opened

Lively and confusing airport. Quite elegantly shaped but a little hard.

Terminal C made we want to buy a ticket for the Hindenburg.

It hurts my heart that Tegel is being taken out of service.
I hope that these useless people who are responsible for this will be voted out and that our Tegel Airport will be operational again in the future.

Very poor experience today. Queued for 2 hours only for desk to close ahead of us. Then we were told to be patient as sheer chaos ensued. Subsequently there was a double booking on our flight and so the luggage tally was incorrect. Connection missed, no apology. Very poor show.

The staff at the security is being openly verbally racist, makes nationalist comments and refuses to work in English (so good for the international airport). The facilities are organized very poorly, I have been missing my connected flights twice in Tegel just because of the intermission bus drivers being ignorant and the whole airport environment being planned badly. The only polite people are staff at the food stands. The rest is pure nazi rat hole.

After landing 15 minutes with 200 people on the plane waiting for "one" employee who pushes the stairs to the plane. The buses were already waiting. Indictment for Wisag and embarrassing for Berlin / TXL

Still my favorite airport in Berlin. Short walkways. The plane is usually directly behind the security check. square, practical, good ... Hopefully BER will stay closed and Tegel will be preserved.

Terrible. Said 45 minutes on the plane because no stairs came. Announcement was that it is Sunday and there is a high sick leave. The luggage then took another 45 minutes. We could forget about our booked ICE. Had to look for a hotel room and drive home tomorrow. Of course we will stay at the expense.

The staff do not take their job seriously. Security staff are laughing and joking whilst doing bomb-checks, the check-in counter staff have the attitude of a 16yo fast food worker and their is minimal to zero signage in important areas such as boarding gates. Awful experience.

Since the option does not allow this, a star is automatically assigned. Otherwise, the service of yesterday evening in this scale would extend into the negative. We arrived yesterday at 21:18 with the Easy Jet machine from Budapest and had to wait for an hour for the stairs. The bustling pilot of our machine has tried in vain to reach by phone as well as gesticulating out of the window someone to bring us the stairs to the plane. After this miserably long wait in plane, we were able to get out of the plane and wait for our luggage. With some warning, our negative fears were completely surpassed. On the screens, luggage was unloaded and declared finished after a few minutes, but all passengers were waiting for their luggage. Since no responsible persons are to be found at the luggage stand, after numerous telephone calls of the service hotline a coworker of the ground personnel was sent to us, who did not want to accept our affair at all and pointed out, that the machine was unloaded and we report our luggage as missing should. After two hours of waiting and more phone calls was actually then handed the luggage without any explanations, let alone apologies. And while it is known from the past flights that assignments of flights to the parking positions and copy of the baggage usually takes an hour to wait, but the procedure on the evening with a total of 3 hours waiting time from leaving the machine to the baggage issue is the culmination of the service been the WISAG.

Very nice racing with all the switches. Parking is expensive.

In terminal C - Air Berlin delayed flights, missed connection, very poor hotel offers for overnight stay, 1 day delayed baggage... Very bad experience all the time. No seats available at the "waiting area". Security check repeated between 2 Schengen flights. Unfriendly, slow and most of the time useless staff. Not to mention not the first time i see they doesn't speak English at international terminal C.
TEGEL get your things together please!
