It's a flea market and it's quite large... but it's one of the most expensive flea markets I've been to. Not to say there aren't quality bargains, but you have to look for those in between overly expensive stalls (30 euros for a t-shirt???) nevertheless do come visit even if it's just for the sights.

Each time getting worse. It is becoming increasingly crowded, full of tourists and it's almost like any market in any city, only much bigger. Today about noon was virtually impossible to walk down the street Ribera tanners which is the main street of the trail

Possibly the most famous open air market in Europe and given that you are guaranteed good weather it is a must on a Sunday morning. Stroll and enjoy being with the Spanish. It is brilliant and so are they.

A huge flee market with thousands of things. You can find good deals. Definitely a place to visit for tourist if you happen to be in the city on Sunday when most of the places are closed in the morning.
Time to 2:30 pm.

It is immense, but I, particularly, do not like this type of street market (much less that it is second-hand). The reality is that after the collection of all the stalls, the streets remain dirty and smelly, a very ugly image, although it is well organized because immediately, the cleaning workers arrived.

A huge Sunday flea market in the middle of Madrid. The city's largest with several hundred stalls and flea stands. You can safely set aside a whole morning to go exploring and rummaging around in old exciting things and cases. The market is nicely surrounded by a lot of small eateries and cafes, where a well-deserved break can be enjoyed. The market is perfect with a metro station at one end and Madrid's oldest indoor market at the other end. You can find everything from antique trinkets to newly clothing and bags. Much is, of course, illegitimate, but it is, of course, the charm of these markets where the pursuit of a genuine find requires thoroughness and patience.

Unmissable experience You should always plan a visit to Madrid with a Sunday morning available to visit this historic market including its side streets, especially the antiquarian sector.

very typical place to taste local products, from seafood to cheese through the wines and local cervezas. Hard to get seated, on Saturday at least, but all dishes can be eaten comfortably strolling

One of the best, and most varied street markets in the world. The best, the positions of the "artists", originality and modernism in the most unexpected place. And if you are looking for memories and old things, there is no better place.

A typical place in Madrid, but part of its charm seems to be gone with the memory. Now there are many people, many pickpockets, it is almost impossible to walk from 12h to 15h or even before in the middle. You can find some interesting stalls of old objects, books, cameras, etc ... But almost everything else is nonsense or things that become fashionable and take advantage to sell at a high price. Even so, we all want to come to the trail and have a drink in one of the bars in the area.

El Rastro is and has always been an illusion that pumps blood to Madrid on Sundays. It is a shame the conditions in which it has had to reopen due to the covid, but it is still alive thanks to the people of Madrid who know how to feel it.
Right now is when you need us most, let's help you, with the necessary precautions, but always with the Rastro.

Madrid. What would happen on Sundays without flea markets, toasts, vermouths ... You have to go even if only once in a lifetime to the trail and get lost among the streets that for some are antiques for others are relics. Recommended to go soon

Although, it is not the same as it was from another time, now its essence of antiques market has blurred a bit, it is an explosion of live music, colors and flavors, people from infinite places. To enjoy and see, do not miss a visit.

It sells various used goods. It is a good place to visit, but be sure to pay attention to pickpocketing. And foreigners do not have anything to live for. Especially for Koreans, it is much better to live in city shops. It is a good thing that you do not go where the pickpockets are. Never carry a small amount of money.

Good artisan fair on Sundays, a world of people of all nationalities walking, watching and buying from clothes, bijou, furniture, even clothes and shoes. Very beautiful and colorful. There are also musicians who brighten the walk with different melodies.

Well it is a great and traditional place but now without stalls it has no essence I went to change stickers like every year, and a shame 7 or 8 people and the bars around are dead, but I recommend walking through its streets still empty

Excellent, a typical place of Madrid that is impossible not to visit during the stay of this place. I managed to buy beautiful things at a great price and I wanted to buy more. Although always full of people you can enjoy the same. I love the culture that can be found in this market.

It was a great experience for us in this market. Very vibrant and lots of stuffs to look at or shop. it gets pretty crowded in the afternoon, but I guess that is what can make it fun. There was also live music and dance which made it more fun altogether. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Madrid. It opens only on Sundays.

The rastro is an interesting place. My mind my be affected since its near where i live and its loud but lets get to the facts and opinion as foreigner:

Negative:
its loud
People push a lot. Many people in narrow streets.
Pick pockets are often around.

Positive:
it gives life to the streets
A lot of interesting different goods can be found here of varying quality
The go to place for souvenirs of all kinds.
Often good prices and a lot to choose from
People that like older styles will love this as a lot of people sell paintings and furniture in old styles.
Portraits a lot of different skills.

Neutral: a lot of musicians. If that is good depends on their skill and your taste.

One of the best places to spend a Sunday morning in Madrid. Avoid the main two super busy roads and get into the small squares, alley roads and courtyards on both sides to enjoy antiques, parafernalia and second hand clothes and objects. You can enjoy a very authentic experience there, seeing tenders and people bargain for a xixth century theater costume. Finish the mornig eating some sardines at Santurce.

I was in this used market on the Sunday when I was in Madrid, I really liked the atmosphere that was breathed in this market of infinite length where you can find everything. I really liked the presence of street artists present along the market that really made the walk along the market happy. Really good street artists!
