One of the better options in the area despite undergoing some renovations (property is 20+ years old). Professional and very well trained staff. Beautiful view out of the back of the hotel. Easy and free parking. Located in a quiet area next to a golf course. The room was alright and needed some updating. The water piping was being replaced near our room so there was an unusual mechanical sound, but only when a lot of guests were showering at once. For the price this hotel was definitely worth it over some of the smaller and almost equally priced options.

My mother and I stayed here under the 'spa package' to celebrate my 18th birthday/graduation from high school and it did not disappoint! Staff were absolutely lovely, and the food from Embers was delicious and divine. The ladies who provided a full body massage/body wrap and facial massage were so lovely and the massages were fantastic and relaxing, cleared my mind completely. Our room was great, the cleaners were also really kind and did a great job. Staff around the whole resort were so kind, easy to talk to and developed a great customer rapport straight away. Filomena at reception did a fantastic job fixing a few errors on our invoice for our stay and she was absolutely lovely. I have been staying here since I was a young girl and it has been fantastic every time. I look forward to staying here again and experiencing the luxury the Fairmont always provides!

Great staff and food. The rooms have been stripped back to basics due to Covid.
The only issues were the other customers, pushing into lines caused by Covid guidelines and when your in the cafe or restaurant people bringing in tablets or iPads and playing stuff for themselves or their kids making noise while to you are having a quiet drink or meal.

If i could give you a 10 out of 5 i would.
We have been here before and loved it so much we came back again to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary and i can honestly say we have been treated like royalty.

The service we have received has been 2nd to none.
The front desk has been amazing and friendly and upgraded us for our anniversary.

The restaurant staff gave us the best romantic table by the fireplace and wished us happy anniversary the minute we walked in.
The food was excellent, the bed is soooo comfortable i could go on and on about every department from the concierge to the pool staff to bar staff to the prompt service of housekeeping.

We really cannot fault one single thing about our stay so far..
Everyone has gone above and beyond to be helpful, extremely friendly and so generous to make our stay truly a memorable one.

Looking forward to one more night tonight.
We will definitely be back with all the family so they too can experience this amazing place.
I highly recommend you celebrating any special event here or just coming for an unforgettable couple of days away.
A huge congratulations to the Fairmont resort for the outstanding resort you have become. Your quality and standards of service is now up there with top international hotels around the world.

Thank you to all the staff at the fairmont resort who all contributed to make our stay truly unforgettable.

Warmest regards
Mr and Mrs Loizos

Greeted by friendly staff and had a hassle free checkin. The room was a good size and clean. Enjoyed the breakfast and we were very happy with the food and service we got for our anniversary dinner.

The staff were very knowledgeable for attractions and walks in the area.

Checkout was a breeze and friendly.

Was a lovely 1 night stay, the complementarty children's rides & drinks were very welcoming, will be returning.
I do think the bathrooms in the standard rooms do need upgrading, shower screen didn't stop water from spashing on the tiles, Wi-Fi could have been a little better also.

The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. They were aware that we were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary on the Sat night and welcomed us with a fruit plate and bottle of wine in our room and with chocolate strawberries at dinner.
We opted for a balcony room which was very large and had a lovely view over the ponds and gardens.

Our stay was wonderful. The staff were exceptionally friendly and caring. Sarah (Manager) was such a delightful person to deal with making our stay as positive and happy as she could possibly achieve for us. The two bar staff were so lovely and made us feel very 'at home'. I loved the indoor pool. The cafe had very good coffee and lovely cakes. I can't fault the Fairmont! So relaxing.

We have now been to this hotel MANY MANY times! We have very small children and take our elderly parents away with us. Ours kids spend our time at home begging us to return to Leura! They have enjoyed the pony rides, indoor swimming year round, the great kids "park" and games, little train, carousel as well as the many many easy walks around the site! We have found, with our Accor cards, that the buffet is fantastic as well as the a la carte just outside the buffet to be reasonably priced for what you get. The absolute highlight is having a cinema in the hotel! Our kids are too small to take to the regular movies (as well as being a complete rip off) but LOVE going and sitting in the seats to watch one of the many kids movies that were on offer!
I have only ever experienced two annoyances on my trips and they are the bus loads of tourists that are noisy in the halls in the middle of the night (jet-lag?). This was fixed promptly with a call to the front desk! The second was that Embers (the adults only eating) has had extremely slow service (none), 2 hours for food to be prepared and come to the table and then very expensive for what we got. Easily fixed by not eating there...
The staff are ALWAYS incredibly helpful and VERY friendly! This is easily one of our favourite places to visit!
I am eagerly awaiting the day spa to be finished and I will be set! These were all booked out in advance last time I was there. Hopefully that will be solved with more rooms and hopefully they will be reasonably priced!

Fantastic service all round. We highly enjoyed the sauna and pool area. Decor was a bit dated but added to the character of this resort. Would definitely return in the future for short getaway trips from the hustle and bustle of Sydney.

Arrived Fri night. Filthy bathroom. Sink completely smashed. Moved to another room. New bathroom had broken toilet seat and constant dripping tap. Bed sheet fitted with brown blanket instead of duvet. Curtains sagging in bedroom.
Had hot buffet breakfast - scrambled egg can only be described as slop. "Fried" mushrooms sitting in bowl of hot water. Inedible.
Main reason we booked hotel was to avail of indoor heated pool and spa. We were greeted by a sign which stated that pool and spa were out of order. Told by member of staff that both had been broken for a week and a half. Spoke to management who advised that it wouldn't be fixed until Tuesday. Obviously as we were only staying for the weekend we could not enjoy these facilities.
Can only describe this hotel as a dirty disappointment!! Amazing photos shown on the website, result in major anti climax.

I wish there should be an option negativing rating. Stayed their during Covid time and I must say worst experience I ever had in any resort. Lift was not working and there was no one to move my luggage to different floor and I think it will be really hard for me to list down everything here but I must I will never ever recommend this resort to anyone.
Big NO even if it is free.

Having stayed here many years ago I was keen to check this hotel out again given it has had a few owners since I visited last. Im pleased to say our stay was very enjoyable with friendly staff & excellent loyalty recognition and the poor reviews of the recent past no longer stand.
Given that it was a long weekend & busy I thought the hotel handled the increased traffic well & I look forward to spending more time there when next we stay.

This place is perfect for family with kids as there are lots of activities for them to do. Service is a hit and miss but overall is ok. We got upgraded to the suite which is devine. Restaurant on site has nice food but the menu doesn't change so can be boring if you eat there everyday. There is in house cinema that shows 3 different kids movies and 1 adult movie everyday. Indoor heated and outdoor unheated pool. There is train ride for the little kids and horse riding on the weekend. Plenty of onsite parking, own car is a must. Town centre is just 5mins drive.

Wouldn't give this hotel 4 stars. Very dated look. Rooms cleaned badly. Everywhere dust and mold. Kid's play area also looks very old and dirty. Have actually seen ripped parts. Doesn't worth its money.

Edit (cannot see how to reply to below).
Unfortunately, I took only one picture of playground to share with my family. To be honest, I could not expect it in a $400 a night hotel. So we decided to let our son play in the pit with balls. I made a big pile of balls and uncovered the floor in the area where I saw hips of food leftovers. Then I found that my son is playing with the ball half covered in gum. Shortly after I found another ball just like this. The most surprising part for me, however, was the fact that guest have to pay $1/$2 to play on the machines in the area.

Our room was on the ground floor with the terrace. This is pretty cool as an idea, but it seems that they are not cleaned during winter as tables was quite dusty. We noticed the same in the other rooms when we walked around the hotel. When I left the terrace to go to the car I could not open the door and had to lift it up to make it move. Only then I noticed that one of the boards disconnected from the door and was sticking with the nails out; so I had to push it in place. Reminded me of our old family country house back in Russia.

Another surprise for me was in the shower when the shower holder decided to pull out of the wall together with the shower. It's good that I managed to stick it back in place.

It's very unfortunate that these details spoil the mood, because the location and views were stunning.

If you need a reference, we stayed in room 107 that weekend.

Over priced. Don't expect an MGallery experience. This is Not luxury. This is Not boutique. Neither did we experience the benefits of our membership. The Resort and Spa in the name suggests a couple's retreat. This hotel is for families with kids. The buildings are so long like a boarding house. The big grounds have many activities for children. Many of the amenities were not available. And these are not Sofitel pillows. Also the plumbing is noisy, we had a terrible night's sleep.

We stay at the Fairmont quite regularly, and are always impressed with the service that we recieve.

On this occassion, it was easter school holidays, so there were significantly larger number of families and children, which we did not expect. This made breakfast especially quite busy (for a couple owth no children it was somewhat overwhelming!). However, overall, we enjoyed our stay.

We could not wait to leave this hotel. Needless to say images of the panoramic view and iconic Fairmont brand has us fairly excited about our stay. However, everything other than the view from the Reception (which is spectacular!) was a let down. The standard rooms, which will cost you between $250-$400 per night were dated and with not even a small balcony, felt completely cooped up. The decor was just as tired around the hotel. Oh and there's the $35 flat charge to watch any movies for 24hrs but you don't get to see what movies are available prior to paying this ridiculous fee! The so called buffet breakfast had been cancelled due to COVID (which is understandably but wish they would have given us he heads up) - so a la carte it was. The bacon tasted like water, the bread was stale, the coffee was terrible! Such a disappointment and given the prices you charge, completely unacceptable. Lucky we used a red Balloon voucher but that was a birthday present and I was pretty angry I wasted it on the Fairmont.

Room was lovely however windows did not seal so a cold draught came in. Extra touches for my birthday made it special. Only downside was food and service at Embers restaurant. I even made a booking for my birthday at the restaurant which was not then written down. Was told no need to book on Thursday night then restaurant was full and had to wait 30 min for a table. Service was slow. If I had an option would have gone elsewhere for my birthday dinner the following night

My Family & I had a great time at the Fairmont resort. Had dinner out though. The restaurant was too pricey for a family of 6. Enjoyed the movies in, but it was abit of a shame about the outdoor pool being under construction. We wanted to try the Segway rides but once again too expensive. Wish there was a fold up bed for my son who ended up sleeping on the floor because there was no more room with only two queen beds for the six of us. But overall we had a good time

2 points only for the view and friendly stuff. Buuuuut it was the worse buffet breakfast in my 32 years old life. No, it was the worse food I've ever saw in my life. Didn't risk to try it. The room and the hotel itself are very old, it feels dusty, sofas in our room had some yaaak spots on it.

This was the second visit staying in your Pet-Friendly room and this time booked the adjoining room for my Mother In Law and again was a lovely stay. Very friendly & great service from the concierge upon arrival, check in, pre dinners at The Cafe and with great food in both The Eucalypt Dining room and Embers.

Beautiful walks around the Golf Course and grounds with our dog and he was treated like a "Rock Star" all the way and loved every minute of it.

You are made to feel like being part of the family and we will certainly be returning again.
An extremely enjoyable and relaxing weekend for all.

Thank you to all The Fairmont Team and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

This place is PERFECT for a work conference! The facilities are fantastic. It s like a maze. What really topped it for me was the theatre room and the kids ball pit, games room! I felt like a kid. Oh and the amazing view of the blue mountains and all the running tracks around too. The rooms are vintage like and very clean. The staff are friendly and they re very customer oriented.

The only thing I didn t like was the shower. The layout of the bathroom made it difficult to get under the water.

Spent 5 days here with the kids aged 3 &5. The place is geared for families, lots of activities for kids so parents can relax or join in. It's an older style hotel and has an indoor heated pool which was handy on the wet weather days. Staff are very helpful and welcoming.

I invited family and friends to celebrate the birthday of myself and closest friend at the Yulefest Dinner.
On arrival I looked for parking only to find that the hotel had me down as a Silver instead of Platinum Member - that was quickly sorted by Michael. Obviously as I was only listed as Silver any other possible benefits were not forthcoming. Myself and my guests checked in but I was later to find out that although I booked three standard rooms for my guests and a superior room for myself my room appeared to be the smallest and had very little room for entertaining after dinner - we in fact had to use one of the other rooms.
There were issues with the buffet dinner that were raised with David Ho on the night. My daughter , as did others, had prawns but they had no taste and were very bland - David agreed to refund the cost of her dinner. After we had finished with the starters we went onto the hot meals which weren't hot at all, David confirmed this fact and had his staff change for hot food at the buffet. I realise that you have to cater for the masses but, Turkey Roll as a roast for Christmas Festivities is big disappointment, also i am curious where the roast potatoes were hidden.
Although we generally had a good time in the general Blue Mountains area the hotel let the whole weekend down.

We would have expected better from the Fairmont, but unfortunately the room was dusty, the refrigerator had water in the bottom of it and wasn't that cold. Meals at the Golf club were very poor, served on cold plates. The chips were cold and had to be returned as they were inedible. An excuse was offered but there really isn't any excuse that can be offered for "HOT" arriving that is cold. We would never stay there again.

To be honest i have not stayed as an overnight guest as yet. However we have dined and also had breakfast buffet here and we had an amazing time. It seems the place has had a recent renovation the bottom pool area is now tiled and look grand. The kids games rooms are overhauled and look awesome the kids had the best time. I like coming back here because it affordable but also because it is very family orientated.

I stayed one night over the June long weekend. The hotel appeared to be fully booked and the staff appeared stressed and in some cases (in the bar area) frantic. However, the reception staff were pleasant. Considering the price and status of this hotel I was disappointed at all the extra costs which a quality hotel should absorb as part of the reservation costs. Free wi-fi for 30 minutes is a joke for a first world country and paying $30 for an in room movie is ridiculous. Even in developing countries like Thailand, these services are offered free.

Lovely hotel but check in is 3pm making it very cold in Winter by the time you can access the comfort of your room. Front desk staff are gruff and don't seem happy to be in hospitality. Busy hotel with clearly a staffing issue...everyone seems stressed and simple requests seem too much trouble.Lovely common areas but often way too busy to accommodate everyone.
It is a shame because the hotel has the potential to be great, but service is definitely lacking.

READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING

READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING

Our experience of the Fairmont Resort was a mixed bag really, we stayed for 4 nights with 2 adults, 2 kids (3 year old and 3 month old) the rooms are well appointed and fairly modern, bathrooms especially good. Not super clean, pillows still had hair on them and room overall quite dusty. Carpet definitely needs replacing as it's dirty, old and worn out. They happily provide a microwave, no charge on request.

That's kind of where the nice stuff ends, the COVID changes made to this place have essentially ruined the experience & we found it very difficult to enjoy the amenities without booking in advance, stringent rules, staff telling us time was up in Arcade (the only fun thing to do with kids here) the indoor pool space is small and cramped with only a few families allowed in 1 Hour time and half the pool being shared with outside swimming lesson classes (why??). Spa and sauna closed which I can't really understand why except for cost savings. Can't tell you how many couples we saw come in and look bewildered as to why those 2 things weren't available to them.

Then the parking... There's not enough close to the hotel, we constantly had to park on level 3 which is a good 10 min walk to the entrance. There is a short cut through the pool area but since COVID the entry is disabled and the pool gate welded shut. Utterly ridiculous, if I'm a paying guest why can't I use this entrance and save walking ALL THE WAY AROUND to the main entrance. Ridiculous! Especially difficult with small children. Photos of closed entrance.

There are reserved parking spaces right near the entrance for those lucky people whoever they are, 3 disabled spots which were usually empty and 2 electric vehicle spots which were empty also. How about parents with prams spots?? Oh right we missed out again...

Restaurant food at Embers was ok but service was really lacking with 2 waitstaff with a full dining room. We chose breakfast which was a la carte not buffet as advertised but it consisted of ordering from the table and staff going to the buffet to pick the pre cooked food. Really what difference would it make to allow us to pick it?

We left on the Saturday and surprise surprise the place is packed and COVID restrictions relaxed, different rules for different days and levels of guest coming to stay. Previously told had to select 1 arcade room and stay there (they have 2 spaces) then we were told we could go to both. Pony rides started and the train also which we missed because we were told last train left at 10am but actually it was 9:45am (disappointed 3 year old again...)

Safe to say we won't be back unless everything is reopened, overall 3 stars cos it was ok but not happy with the level of restrictions they have, it's seriously over the top.

Luckily we were in the Blue Mountains and made the most of our trip outside the Resort taking in all Leura and Katoomba have to offer.

Stand out restaurants

Polar Bear of Leura
8 Things
Korean Cafe in Katoomba
Kebab Shop in Katooma

Surprised to find so much good food in these towns

I'd recommend finding a more basic/cheaper hotel somewhere else in town and staying there instead because that's basically what the Fairmont has become but our 4 night stay cost $1400 with breakfast. Not really cheap. If you're Golfing then by all means stay here.

Stayed in the Megalong view rooms. Rooms need to be refurbish, very dated. The size is very good though.
Insulation needs improvement, can hear people walking pass/doors slamming (even at 6am).

Services was quite good but it would have been nice to be told about the kids activities.
We only saw the children's play equipment timetable on the day we left. If we had known, we would have tried to go to some of them.

Heated pool was nice.

Hotel was short-staffed and therefore staff was under pressure. No designated barman/barista in the lounge and restaurant meant service was very slow - over 30 minute wait to get drinks in the restaurant. Information wasn't readily available you had to go looking for it - i.e. yoga was advertised on a board outside the relevant room and kids movies were listed on the reception desk but unless you actually spotted these you wouldn't know they were there. Reception staff didn't inform us of anything about what was going on as it was all left to the in-room info service but this left us with more questions than answers.

We asked for a room change which was dealt with very quickly and efficiently by Stephanie but it was over 9 hours later when housekeeping finally arrived (after being chased up) to make up the sofa bed etc, again I think housekeeping were swamped with requests or just short-staffed.
