Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Winston-Salem Downtown Review

I will admit to having a bad attitude when I checked in, which didn't help anything. Overall, the hotel is not bad. Lobby area was nice, staff were friendly, and breakfast options were nice. Room was ok, but the AC was left off so it was super hot when I got in. Hallways had a bunch of stains on the carpet and just showed a need for upgrade. Also, hated the parking situation, which was a garage across the street from the hotel with no connection to the hotel. I really didn't like having to park and walk over with my stuff (the recommended I use the pull through area to unload, but overall a bad set-up). I wouldn't NOT stay there, but I wouldn't seek it out again.

We had two rooms, with four total beds. Was perfect for staying overnight

Very well maintained, modern decor, exemplary staff. Paul Mitchell toiletry products. Smart TV with free showtime on demand. Also access to YouTube, Netflix, HBOgo, and more. Excellent water pressure and water temp. Breakfast offered til 10am. Coffee/tea accessible all day. 24hr gym. Common areas are clean and inviting. Thank u for providing such a comfortable place to rest.

I have been staying in this hotel for several years now as my daughter attends college in Winston-Salem and am sad to see the decline in maintenance and customer service at this once really quaint and comfortable hotel. The hotel is in bad disrepair and is borderline dirty, and the service in the lounge area was not bad per se just simply non-existent. There was an overall feeling that it didn't matter we were there and in fact the staff preferred we were not. We will sadly be staying elsewhere in the future. Such a shame.

Staff is friendly and helpful. Had a problem first night and could not get it fixed so they moved us to a different room which was inconvenient but oh well. The room was clean and beds are comfortable. A little too noisy outside. Would recommend this hotel to friends.

The front desk employees were friendly and efficient. The breakfast selection was larger than expected, with fresh cut fruit, all different types of breads, eggs, and quite a few morning drinks available. The room was clean and spacious. Just what we needed for a short visit on Homecoming weekend.

Nice hotel to stay overnight. Easy to get to and everything is close by.

Rooms clean. Floor quiet. Service was very good and friendly.

I really liked it, but the cleaning isn't too my perfection. Back off the bathroom doors never get wiped or finger prints. Half of the bath tub was half full of water!!! That made no sense to me at all lol.

Beautiful lobby, updated rooms, very convenient to downtown Winston Salem

Room was clean and large. TV was a bit small , but not bad. Air was a bit confusing, you need to use the wall mounted control verse the controls on the AC unit. Location of room was not next to street. However I was woken up by what sounded like a garbage dump truck emptying dumpsters at 4am. I felt like I also woke up multiple times during the night because I was more tired then usual. Can't pin my tiredness to other disturbances though, maybe the bed or AC? Would stay in again but would request a different room/building side than 519.

Ive been staying here since March 2017 for business travel. Accommodating staff, great breakfast, 5 min walk to city center.

Clean rooms, friendly staff. Parking garage can be a bit tricky to find, there are two sides to it, the Fairfield one is on the left. Spacious room full bath.

Reasonably nice. Seems to have been recently renovated but was shoddily done and so things are a little rough around the edges. But still acceptable.

It was very nice the complimentary breakfast was very good... I had a nice nighttime view with the fog rolling in.

My first room on the 3rd floor the window would not lock. Maintenance wasn't available so she asked if I wanted a new room what so you think!!!! Then I get to my room and it was decent until i noticed the outlet next to my bed was filthy. How can you not see that??????

Overall a nice looking place... my room in particular had a permanent crack in the window letting in a draft and very muggy air... it also let in bugs... hopefully other rooms are nicer

Clean, and pleasant folks. We like this Marriott Fairfield property. Very handy to the coliseum in Winston-Salem. Plenty of good restaurants around in every genre.

The entrance was not clearly marked. Breakfast was supposed to be served until9 o'clock. We got there at 8:52 and the lady had already unplugged the waffle maker, there was no bacon and even though she heard us say there was no more bacon, she didn't offer to bring us any. When I said to her that it wasn't 9 yet she said? "Yes it is, it's 9:03", which at that time it was 9:01. Then all the workers came out to eat and they stocked it back up for them. After sitting at the hospital since 6:15 we were looking forward to a hot waffle and bacon so it was disappointing not to, especially after the cost of the stay.

Acceptable rooms. Parking was a pain. Not bad if you just need a place to crash for the night.

My kids unknowingly left items in the room. The housekeeper was on the way down with them before we checked out. Great surprise and great service.

Very clean rooms and great breakfasts offering, the Fairfield is in a perfect location to take advantage of the downtown Winston-Salem.

Updated, clean, great value, hot full breakfast buffet. Directly in th middle of downtown Winston Salem. The friendly staff cares and does all they can to assist in any of your needs

This hotel didn't disappoint.. the staff are super friendly and the rooms are clean.. easy check in and easy leave.. grabbed a drink at the bar and the bartender was really cool. We collaborated on a drink that I really wanted and had no problem making it for me..we did some hiking near by at hanging Rock. I have included a couple of pictures from there.. cheers!!

I love staying here I love there outdoor fireplace the beds breakfast and the staff Ms Vanell at the front desk is always so helpful

Our stay was nice. Room could of been a little cleaner. There was a coffee strain on the wall behind desk, sleeper sofa was super dusty (we didn't need to use it so it didn't matter to us). But, that's really about it.
The breakfast buffet was fantastic and the fire pit in the courtyard was really nice. The staff were super friendly.

We stayed one night on our way to Wilmington.

The room was a king and very comfortable, surprisingly quiet even though we were by the elevators. Room and bathroom were very clean. Best hotel shower ever!

We did have an issue with our room key not working after our morning walk. After 3 visits to front desk, which was friendly professional service , maintenance got involved. They were aware that there was an issue with this particular room lock. They got us back in and apologized. They said they would work on it today to repair. We found the staff very friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed downtown Winston Salem!

I went here and 7 items were charged to my room without my knowledge. Apparently they do not ask for a signature or ID and expect you to pay this amount. When I asked for a refund Michelle said I could get a partial refund, but not the whole thing. I bought a salad that I was willing to pay for, not 7 items. I will be making sure my company chooses the Embassy Suites down the street. Do not stay here, their crooks.

Spacious, clean, quiet, comfortable. Helpful staff. What more could you ask for?

The staff is very efficient, all the way from manage mental to front dest to the house cleaning to the morning breakfast. Very friendly and in control. All floors I've stayed on have done a great job keeping my room and my crews very clean and smelling good. Thanks ya . Keep up the hard work and look forward to my stays in the future. A ten on my book and I have stayed in quite a few hotels by far the best. Thank you.

So close to Old Salem, awesome staff. Great view, free parking, excellent breakfast and free WiFi.

Nice enough staff. Styrofoam cups in room (really?!). Shaky desk. TV that's older than your kids (whatever their age). Lots of highway noise. Downtown location that's walkable to ______ . Got what I paid for.

Over night desk clerk was very accommodating and pleasant! Will highly recommend hotel.

They have great customer service they also have a very clean Lobby and everybody seems to be friendly

The room was excellent and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. I wish there had been more variety of food options available in the restaurant, but the burger I had was delicious!

Bennell was so friendly and helpful. I wanted some fries and she helped me with getting them ordered. Bennell suggested some of the good shopping areas in surrounding towns. Corey Barber was very attentive during breakfast and friendly. We asked for a king but got two queen size beds. The only problem we had was we asked for a king size but got two full size beds.

Nice hotel. Breakfast eggs were not that great, but they have blueberry waffles. Kinda expensive.

Wonderful staff. My plane was cancelled and the staff were very considerate and helpful. The place was very clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my room very much. The location was withing walking distance of many of downtown Winston-Salem and old parts of Salem. I was also able to have a later check-out with no problems or fees. The breakfast was really great too! I highly recommend staying here.

Great location. The front desk clerk was pleasant and efficient. The halls are a little dated but the room was fresh and up dated. Breakfast was good. Great location in a safe neighborhood a few blocks from shops and restaurants.

Website pictures are old because the exterior and interior are not as nice now. Beds were comfortable.

This location was right on the edge of town by the interstate and had clean rooms, a very friendly, helpful, and personable staff (the lady at the front desk, the gentleman running the bar/restaurant, and the cleaning staff). The food from the restaurant was tasty and fast. Would definitely recommend.

Stopped here for a night on our way to Myrtle Beach. Very clean room and friendly people. Breakfast was very nice variety of food. My hat to the ladies taking care of breakfast area. Definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

Great room. Breakfast was typical continental. I forgot my ohone charger and the head house keeper let me borrow his personal one. Great guy. Easy access to highways and handy parking across the street.
