As a 26 year old engineer and science nerd, this place was fantastic, very interactive and educational. They have so many exhibits, there is no way you'll get to them all. Definitely coming again!

Spectacular collection of equipment that put theory, mechanics, physics, optics, biology, botany, sociology, human behavior and much more into practice.
Lots of fun and very informative. The exhibits were all interactive and interesting. Sadly their were several field trips there so lots of loud and some poorly mannered children there.
Loved this place. Went for a corporate party, so not you're normal visit, but was exceedingly impressed with the space and exhibits. Nice bonus is the workshop where they create new exhibits and you can watch them crafting. The place is huge, don't miss going all the way to the observation deck where there are tremendous views of the Bay Bridge!
Nice, big location with lots and lots of hands-on exhibits to play with. They seem to favor small disparate installations instead of telling a sweeping cohesive story from installation to installation. This means you can jump from one thing to another based on your particular interest and what might have less of a line. The downside, for me at least, is I wasn't sure where to go next, and I felt like I was just checking off boxes by the end. However, my 6 year old had a great time, so in the end I was happy he was happy.
Check out the Tinker's workshop. The marble wall is a ton of fun.
Amazing science museum. Kids and adults alike can spend hours. We spent two and a half hours and probably only experienced a quarter of the exhibits that are almost all interactive.
It was so fun! There is a lot to see and do! We were there for almost three hours, and still didn't get to see everything! It gets busy really fast, so get there early!
Just went there yesterday! Great exhibits all around! Check out the Fog Bridge exhibit, or the Tactical Dome exhibit, or the Giant Mirror exhibit, and more!
With this new location I assumed there would be newer interactive activities but it just look wider only...nothing really to excite me and nor the 4 groups of children...good to kill time only
We only looked at the outside science displays in the brief time before we had to leave for airport and strolled through the gift shop they have a very cool cigarette machine Thats repurposed to dispense art. It was very cool. Definitly on our list for our next San Francisco visit
29.95 to get in and watch kids in chaos. The exhibits are more time fillers than explaining the 5ws of science. Great for parents bad for persons interested in "science."
Love this museum...if you are interested in finding out how things work, even as an adult, it's a great place to "get your hands dirty" and fight with little kids.. :P
Great place if you have kids who are under 10 or so. This place is huge though, it's probably better to separate it into a few visits. It was too much to try to finish everything in one day.
Amazing! So much fun for kids and adults alike. We spent over 3 hours there and only left as we had a booking for Alcatraz. They do great food as well in the cafe - sit outside for amazing views of the Bay Bridge and some very fat pigeons! Such a wonderful place.
I love the new location! The Tactile Dome doesn't open until the summer, but it was great to check out, and it's so much more convenient via public transit (BART + 10 minute walk).
Good place to visit for the whole family. Both my 8yrs old and 4 yrs old enjoyed it very much. Cool stuffs are interested to adults as well. Stayed till close and we will come back again.
Kid or adult. This place is awesome. You can easily spend and 1.5 hours but could even spend the rest of the day. Don't forget there are things outside too!
Unique place for kids to explore biology, electricity, math, light, and air using visual and touch. Prepare to spend at least 3 hours there. Your kids will love it.
Great place to get in touch with science: Visitors are confronted with phenomenons that can be played with and read the explanation of how this actually works. Great for kids and adults.
What this world needs for kids today to grab their attention and spur imagination. So many hands on lab/experiments with light, sound, biology, water, electricity and more. Food selections in the back are much better than the normal fried crap. A great day for the entire family!
Great place to visit for all ages. Entertaining and educational with exhibits that appeal to the youngest and oldest. A place that truly allows anybody to explore and learn. For those who want to continue to learn at home they sell kits or parts for cheap that allow you to explore at home as well as a book filled with do it yourself fun.
Amazing place, not just for children. In fact, every adult in there was just like a child. That joy of discovering something new , explained beautifully and simply....so much better than an ordinary science museum. Facts through fun. Must visit when in SF.
What an incredible place for kids any adults alike. So many exhibits, hands on, kids dont even realize they are learning since they are having so much fun. Spent an entire day here and couldnt do everything they had to offer.
So generally everything was really cool, but long lines to get in plus the ever large number of young children coughing on everything made the experience quite a bit dulled, having gone to the bathroom to wash my hands multiple times after seeing something not so pleasant done to the exhibits by young children - but i guess that should be expected.
The exhibits themselves were really interesting, and did a great job of showing experiments, results, and explaining the results.
It's probably mostly me, and not wanting to get sick that caused a bit of a mental block on the whole trip, but I don't think I'll want to go back for a while. Don't forget if you're an SF resident you get a solid discount. I would recommend checking it out if you've never been, but once is enough for me.
Love this place! Great for young and old folks alike! They throw really good events as well. Went to the science of cocktails and greatly enjoyed the venue!
Please believe, you can not be too old or too young for the Exploratorium. The target demographic seems to be "human", but perhaps there was a pet exhibit I missed and the appeal is even broader than I expect. We took my nephew here most recently and spent the better part of our day taking in only a quarter of this sprawling wonderland of science lessons disguised as toys and exhibits. Our particular favorite was a booth where you and a friend sit on opposite sides of a two-way mirror and adjust lighting to eerily merge your faces together. This exhibit, like many, has to be seen to be properly appreciated. Young or old, if you need an escape from your day-to-day this is the place to get lost for a while.
A very fun place for kids and adults to explore art and science. It's strategically located on Pier15 with public transportation and clean bathroom access. There's a small cafe and museum store. It's a slightly pricey place to visit. Visiting on free admission days can be challenging due to crowded visitors.
They had a pretty cool optics exhibit there. I like this place because you get the learn so many things just from walking around the place. There's a few parking lots that offer exploratorium parking rates, so be sure to check that beforehand if you plan to drive up there.
Many things to do and see there. Many interesting activities are there, and really nice outside exhibits. Really clean restrooms, and very large venue that is kept clean.
I loved the Exploratorium as a kid, and I love the new location on the Pier just as much. It's a fun, interactive museum that is bright and lively and great for families.
Yes, there a ton of kids running around, so don't expect a quiet experience. It is meant to get kids excited for science. Heck, it gets me excited about science...just don't be afraid to elbow your way into the exhibits you want, especially at the peak times.
