I learned that I am no longer a slave to fear but I am a child of God and I am one of the very thing that stood out among 500 women and shot it up Jesus is Lord and I'm not ashamed of that any longer

I use to live up here for 2 years. I did 1st and 2nd grade here. We ve been coming back almost every year, I really enjoy it, we bring your bikes, and go explore all over the place. It s pretty amazing how big Hume has grown. The last time I went up, the lake had this dark green color to it. Wasn t very pleasant to swimm in but still had a great time. We caught trout for some of our friends who still live up here, went hiking, biking, and Took lots of photos. The nice thing about coming up here in the mountains is that your away from technology, there s no service really, and it s a great place for teens to connect with nature without being glued to electronics. as a kid, I always wanted to work with the maintenance crew, they were super nice, and we re always taking Pineneedles and wood up to the big dump at the top of the hill. The employees at the general store are always smiling, and engaging, the downside is that the prices have gone up on Products significantly. The people at the front office are also super nice and always willing to help. The security is also super friendly. If you are in the area, I recommend you visiting Hume lake Christian camps. If you can help it, try avoiding summer time. As hundreds of campers are being dropped off by buses constantly. A good time to go is in the fall, winter or early spring. Hume Lake Christian camps is an awesome place to go. I definitely recommend it for families and friends!

I was visiting Hume Lake this past weekend and wow! They had an enormous amount of kids at their camp. Looked fun and like an amazing experience! I'm sure it's a great camp. They have plenty of cabins, recreation activities and there isn't cell service so it's just like the camps back in the day! Pretty great setup.

Our family has enjoyed many years of visiting Hume Lake Christian Camps. The location is beautiful and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We've never found another place like it.

Conveniences include a small grocery store, snack shop and apparal store. You will not find a friendly group of people anywhere.

I am glad Hume lake is still around, my happiest memories are, praising Jesus in the 80s, watching Joel Weldon jam out, and the night time capture the flag style games. Keep the faith! I had that cassette, it was like being in heaven, an amazing place to be with family and friends I never realized how lucky I was to be there until now and I am glad we did go. I bet it is still like that, and maybe I will get a chance to see it again.

Had a great weekend up here with the family, 15 - 18 July 2020. No family camp, but they are still renting out rooms. Price was great. Kayaked the lake, ate some good grub, worshipped, and just enjoyed some time away.

Weather was amazing. Staff was amazing as well.

Highly recommend

I must say, they have REALLY done a GREAT job here! The people that work the place ARE SO NICE!! It s really good to see young kids working and being so delightful to be around! I don t know where they find the staff, but they are tops. The facility is crazy nice! The amenities are tops. The food in the restaurants is good too! Well done people! What a great experience! And its not just that my wife and I caught our limit of trout every day! (But that was pretty sweet) Don t worry; I catch and release. ;-)

I used to go here as a kid (6 or 7 years in a row). I absolutely loved this camp. It was really far from where I lived in SoCal, but worth every minute of that drive and great memories with friends. After over 3 decades I m still friends with people I met during those years who weren t part of our actual church group! I can t wait for our kiddos to attend this camp when they are old enough!

Have been attending the camp since elementary school, now renting family cabins as an adult. It is an amazing, Godly place. Beautiful and loaded with family friendly activities. You'd be challenged to find a high mountain lake setting more beautiful and family friendly than Hume Lake. It's not just for kids camp. Get the homeowners cabin rental list and go for a week!!!

One of my favorite places! They changed my life at Meadow Ranch last summer! I have been going to Hume since I was a tiny kid and I look forward to going every summer! The staff there is super friendly and helpful. Great place to worship The Lord, fish and have family time. The food at the snack shop is amazing too!

Beautiful place with a great view. Just a heads up that only about half of the camp staff were wearing face masks indoors this last weekend when we were there (three of them working at the Snack Shop didn't wear masks at all), even though it's currently required by law. That was unsettling given the current state of things in California, and something to be aware of if you're going to be going to any public indoor places anywhere on the camp grounds.

I've taken my family to Hume Lake many times over ...

I've taken my family to Hume Lake many times over the years, and we all love the place. I have to preface this review by saying that we've only ever camped at the Forest Service campground and not stayed at the Christian Camp. I'm leaving the review here however, because let's face it, if you are at the lake, you are at the Christian Camp by simple dint of the fact that their facilities, their guests, and most significantly, their activities dominate the landscape there. If you are looking to commune with nature around a quiet and pristine alpine lake, may I suggest you pack your hiking boots and head for the high sierra backcountry. This is not that kind of experience. This is a summer camp. Think "Meatballs" with Bill Murray, except that instead of the motley crew of blue collar misfits attending Camp Northstar, Hume skews more toward their snootier rivals at Camp Mohawk, where every athlete has a crack East German trainer behind them, as well as a team of Swedish masseuses at the ready. Seriously though, the amenities available are self evidently first rate. I myself have bought food at their snack bar, groceries in their market, and rented canoes from their dock and have always been satisfied. Now for the downside... While I find the festive atmosphere around the lakeshore charming during the day, the noise from their evening programs is off the hook. I just got back from a mid-week two night stay. On our first night there was some sort of talent show going on and at some point in every act the assembled throngs would let out a cheer that sounded like a game winning touchdown at a pro football game. This went on for hours. This was nothing compared to what was in store for us the next night however. Clearly somebody at the Hume Lake Christian Camp marketing department got wind that EDM clubs are all the rage in Las Vegas these days, and they decided they needed some of that action. I kid you not, they had a full on rave going with an elaborate light show, and a huge sound system. All that was missing was (presumably) the drugs. The drum and bass was thumping through the pine trees for hours, and even though we were camped a quarter mile away, it sounded like we were in the parking lot of the Electric Daisy Carnival. Just a note to the DJ staff: If you guys are gonna play a techno mix of Europe's, "The Final Countdown", wait for the end of the night to do so. Don't repeat it three or four times throughout the night. It's the Final Countdown after all. The clue is in the title. Before composing this review, I went to the Christian Camp website where they have a full page describing this year's "theme" in which they say that while your child is at the camp they will supposedly, "take a look at the life of Elijah and challenge students to proclaim God s truth in an ungodly culture." Really? You're telling me they're attempting to reject the culture with DJ's and electronic dance beats? I guess anything short of sacrificing virgins is A-OK, right guys? I am admittedly not a follower of Jesus, but I've always heard that His was essentially a countercultural message. From what I can see and hear, Hume Lake Christian Camp is about as mainstream American Culture as it gets. Your millage may vary.

Well my whole perspective just changed on this place. I just found out that when kids from our youth group went to wildwood, they were held at gun point (,with blanks). Regardless of that fact not one parent knew this was going to happen. That they were trying to show them what other people go through in other countries because of the gospel. If my kid would ve been in this group she would be emotionally destroyed. You don t pull ridiculous stunts like this. There could ve been many different ways to accomplish the goal. I can t believe this even happened. I used to like this place but now I m extremely disappointed and would never recommend sending kids here. I can forgive but that doesn t mean I send my kids there ever again.

The grounds are just a few yards from the lake, so...

The grounds are just a few yards from the lake, so expecting to be on the water is not realistic. Remember that sound carries very well on water, and, downhill. Your neighbors will appreciate you keeping noises and voices low - this is excellent napping, sleeping in and lazy time camp area.

Also, use your parking lights as you drive in and out in the dark. The loops are winding and as such you'll shine headlights directly into your neighbor's eyes if they are on.

The Christian camp nearby offer plenty of creature comforts and the only fuel for purchase in the Parks. It's dearly priced and convenient. Happily, they have an Icee machine to ease the sting of gas prices. Getting a snack or lunch to eat by the water is nice as well.

Being a family friendly place, your attire will be subject to a dress code. Cover bikini tops and wear full shirts with sleeves.

Your kind and well mannered dog will be welcomed warmly. Curb and clean up after thier reliefs promptly. Small children are about and it is expected that animal waste will not be a hazzard.

Sunsets and sunrises are a thing of glory here, and, sometimes met with the sound of choir or campers singing hymns or modern Christian songs.

Fireworks, firearms, noisy motors, barking and ill-tempered dogs, motorized boats, motorized water conveyance, LOUD engines of any kind are not welcomed. In fact, no motors are allowed on the water - no exceptions. Heed this rule, the wildlife here have little water to hunt and feed in and your disruptive engines and rotors are a detriment.

The creek feeding the lake is a treat visually and is fun to play in. Take all trash out with you, including that which you find that you didn't bring in. Teach others how to respect the places they go by you're kind example.

There are not trails for hiking, as such, but a trek into the woods is easily enjoyed with a GPS that has live mapping of the terrain. The fire roads and trails have been disturbed by recent clearing and thinning, and they are not easy to see or follow.

We went to the Christian Camp area to do some kayaking. I hadn't seen a lot online about what we could do there, so we kinda just headed up that way to do some exploring. Thankfully, as a visitor, you can have access to just about the whole camp except the swimming pool. We had dinner there, rented kayaks, explored a creek and had a great time! BTW, the milkshakes are AMAZING!!! It was great to be in a place that plays worship music smack dab in the middle of the most amazing God created view (lake with mountains in the background!). The Staff was very friendly and we had a great time!

hume lake changed my life so much and the way i look at things and i want to say thank you <3 this summer on July 19, 2016 I asked God into my heart when Robi Quik was speaking and I was just so emotional and the plays were great <3. I only have one struggle at this camp where i signed up for high adventure they put me down for paintball instead. I went because I wanted to use the money wisely. Then the bus didnt start yet and I had a head ache so I went to walk off and the bus driver started driving and I fell and he didn't apologize. We go to play and my head ache was so bad that I just had to stop playing so I told the lady and she said hey you're not allowed to leave but the paintball was very close to my cabin. Besides that 5 stars
