Best museum. We are never able to see everything. Everything is hands on and touchable. The staff is always really helpful with the children. There is parking right across the street and easy to get to. The outdoor exhibits are fun and give the kids a chance to run around outside.
Cool gadgets, family friendly. Gets a little crowded and pretty pricey as well.
Great place for kids plan to go early so you you have a chance to look at everything .
Parking lot available across the street from Exploratorium. Cost $10 for all day parking. Lots to touch, see, and explore. Attended the "after dark" event. Cost $19.95. Not too crowded when you go early. Starts at 6-9pm. Lots to drink and eat. Can be a bit overwhelming with all the gadgets and spinning machines. Some gizmos didn't work. Food and drinks looked good, but expensive. Overall, a fun filled place to go to for a date or night out to do something.
Great for the kids and everyone of every age. It's very entertaining.
More for kids - I went with my boyfriend and we liked it enough but I think we've outgrown science museums.
A great place to play, learn and get a bit tipsy After Dark
Adult nights on Thursdays are super fun. If you like museums where you can touch everything this is the place to go.
Amazing place for kids, but entertaining for adults as well!
A full set of dyi scientific experiments. There is also a workshop area and option for renting it for social events.
Great place with lots of hands on exhibits that demonstrate all sorts of phenomenon with the goal of educating one on the science behind it all. Fun for an adult but great to let kids get hands on and learn so much about the world around them and the science behind it. This is a must see in San Francisco as far as I'm concerned. A nice 2 hour stop.
Best for curious children of any age.
On Thursday evenings, 21+ children can also have fun drinking at the wine bar at the same time!
I LOVE this museum. It is full of workshops and made for understanding science by the experience.
Sadly the price is outrageously high.
Great interactive science museum. Especially great are the Thursday nights for adults. Be sure to check out the crazy mirror. Wait until you can get a spot right in the middle in front, it's worth it.
Great fun for the entire family, lots of hands on exhibits
The entrance was free or give a donation for mother's day. My children enjoyed all the wonderful things their.
This was my second time visiting and I took my brother and a friend with me. We had a lot of fun exploring it for about 2.5 hours and only saw about half of it. It is fun for curious people of all ages.
Everything is interactive. And if you show up for Adult night which is every Thursday, there's no kids and the tickets are cheaper.
It s an amazing underrated attraction, I try to go every year whenever I m in San Francisco. It s a great experience for the whole family with interactive activities for all ages which will occupy you for the whole day. No matter how often you go there will always be something new to learn in a hands-on way. It s one of the best things to do in San Francisco, especially for children.
I can't possibly put into words how awesome the Exploratorium is! It's big and filled with amazing things to do and learn and try and touch and and and... Of course if you don't like fun and learning by doing and trying and touching it's totally not for you.
Favorite place in the city. Hands down. Gone a million times. Never disappointed.
Can get crowded on peak times
This a fun even for Adults. It s exciting and engaging.
Best museum EVER! Webt on Thursday night and had a blast. You have to come to appreciate it. So many fun actuvities to explore and learn
A challenging interactive museum for kids and adults. Everything is designed to stimulate curiosity and not stay with the most obvious explanation for the phenomena that are observed.
Great museum on the waterfront with lots of interactive and interesting exhibits.
Much better than I expected for adults and of course great for kids. Expected to stay for a few hours, but ended up staying for much longer. Great and very large number of interactive exhibits on many topics for all ages.
Went to the new location as a chaperone with my son's class, lots of new exhibits and a few of the old ones. Didn't see the tree of lights(sound activated), I'll look for it next time, when it's just me and my children. Heard the shadow wall is still there, that was my other favorite as a child.
Really fun place with really cool exhibits. Could definitely spend a few days here on multiple visits
One of my favourite places in SF! I went there on Thurs night and it was great to be able to explore after dark. So many scientific experiments you can partake and learn from. The live termite exhibit was very interesting. Highly recommended!
I love this place.I would love to work in Exploratorium.
Good place for kids and eager enthusiasts
$99 for Annual Membership
What an awesome place to go to learn about science and different for the kids
Nifty little gem for the few that would descend on the Wharf District for education. The cross section live bee have is a sight to behold as are the impressive catalog of hands on displays. The staff are very friendly and have a tendency to really try to draw all patrons in to interact. The let down is the very palpable sparseness that is only made worse by the floor layout of the exhibits. Also sparse were signs telling you where you were and what was the general theme of the area. A good bit of edutainment is you are of the persuasion.
Wonderful place for kids to visit. Does not seem as fun and friendly as the old place was. Large dark spaces make the place gloomy, and not bright. Take BART to Embarcadero station, then a peddle cab to Exploratorium for a great day in SF!
I love it here! I went on the thursday night opening where you can drink beer out of a can, wander, and touch everything. It's HUGE, though, so come prepared or also plan to return multiple times.
Great for dates, groups of friends, or family.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I brought my 3 kids here (ages 9,9&7). We all LOVED it! They were so curious and enjoyed interacting with each and every part of the museum. There were lots of cool things led by people too- card tricks, pendulum drawings, stop motion animation. This was probably the most fun we've ever had at a museum. I highly recommend it!
Went there for our 5th grade fieldtrip. There was so much to see and play with. The kids loved it.
Hands-on exhibits make it great for kids or people who might be new to science. It might be a bit less interesting if you've been before or have a scientific background.
This place is an absolutely must see ! We had incredible fun playing around, acting like kids and learning a lot. The museum allows you to learn by doing. Even got into a kaleidoscope and created an infinite number of our own selves !
Wonderful place with so many things to explore. Definitely made the kids happy as the exploratorium is very hands on and they loved touching everything.
One of my favorite places I have ever been to. I had so much fun here and my kids loved it. You could easily spend all day there and not be bored.
Been going here since I was a kid. Great place to play and learn at the same time. Adults, check out the 21+ night.
I loved it there i went on a field trip with my son's class and can i say we had a blast its so much stuff to learn and get experiences from so many rooms with different things to keep you entertained and the kids busy. Family friendly.
Superb museum. Wish they had this kind of place when I was a kid. All features are imaginative and interactive. Brings out the kid inside of all of us. Was jammed with little ones on Saturday but I guess that's a sign of how good this place is. Would certainly recommend to people with young kids. And would recommend to adults, but perhaps outside of kid rush hour!
If you're over 18, go to the adult night on Thursdays. It's fun! Check out the tactile dome if you're not claustrophobic. It's an extra ticket, but it's worth the money.
The exploratorium is definitely a place to clear the mind and learn a little, exploratorium has several areas in which children will have a good time as it will keep their minds awake and wanting to know more. Within the facilities you have maps that you can take in the language you understand best so you can give an order to the route.
Visit with your whole family and lots of stuff to enjoy each moment of life here
I really enjoyed my visit in this place. I learned more about Science. There are a lot of interactive activities in the place. I will definitely bring my family next time.
Enjoyed all the exhibits and demonstrations. Great for kids and adults. Cafe has good food too
Many contents are in there about various part of sciences like electric, biology, physics and etc. The staffs of exploratorium were really kind.
As a engineering shoold student everything is really funny and educative. Because we can touch and feel all of them. I love this places I stayed this place almost 6 hours.
. . . 4 6 . . .
If you love science (or even if you don't) this place is absolutely amazing. So many things to see / play / experiment with, you could spend days checking it all out. Even if you have an hour or two I'd still recommend popping in and having a look at a few. It'll make you appreciate the wonder of science!
Great for kids. Try going on Thursday night if you re an adult.
Incredible place. I did not reach the time. Too many activities.
Went for After Dark recently and had a great time. Science museums are way more fun with beer.
So much fun you could spend days here! So many different aspects of science to learn about and unique interactive displays. You can tell they update the attractions often and keep fresh exhibits throughout. Loved the outdoor section as a nice break from being indoors. Spent 3 hours here and didn't see everything.
Fun and science come together nicely at the Exploratorium. The displays are well thought out, interesting, and informative. Most of them are also pleasing to the eye. The helpful and friendly staff will gladly explore with you or give you hints. The scattered layout means that you can spend extra time on displays that pique your interest. A half day wasn't quite enough time to see everything, a d I'm looking forward to another trip.
I have seen this place before and been but its always is fun even when i do it agin
Educational for the young and old. Some displays can be improved.
