I had high hopes for the EMP when I visited for the first time last month. While the building itself was amazing and I really enjoyed the guitar collection and the Nirvana and the Jimi Hendrix exhibits, I was a little let down by the rest of it.

I thought the upstairs interactive area was a bit too kids oriented. I also felt like the sci-fi and fantasy exhibits were a bit out of place for the name of the museum. Also the ticket price for the museum was a bit higher than what it's worth.

Overall it was a decent museum but probably not worth it for the ticket price.

While it is interesting if you like movie props, the most enjoyable part of it is the section that teaches you the basics of playing a musical instrument. Otherwise it's an interesting, albeit expensive museum

I specially posted such photos so that you would not think that the museum has all 5 music only. When I got there, it was a surprise for me with the movie com, so I was just thrilled. Definitely you need to go here and I would recommend allocating at least 2 hours, as there is something to see, listen to and even play real instruments in a special laboratory on the 3rd floor. Therefore, plan the time to be in time to visit each room slowly

The museum side was the reason it got a 3 star. It was ok for the music side. The hands on stuff was hard to see because their is no order in there. The movie and horror side saved it. The marvel was a waste of money. Small exhibits and no X-Men, even though they advise they have some.

This museum was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
We absolutely love seeing different grunge artists from Seattle. also being able to have hands-on experience with the drums guitar keyboard etc.
It was truly a fun time and we spent more than half and afternoon there.
we actually bought the CityPASS and that made it even more enjoyable because we got to see many different other attractions in the area.
They also love seeing different Syfy and horror film pieces. you wouldn't get to see anywhere else. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of any of these.

There is so much to see here and one could spend an entire day within viewing every exhibit. Like that they have a bagage check-in area to hold shopping goodies from elsewhere like the space needle act.

Had the pesto pizza from the cafe that was a killer lunch.

Great exposition for the nerdy & geeky in us all. I like it most the compendium of fantasy archetypes, but was disappointed that they didn't had any book or print of that content to sell. The exterior of the place is inviting for great architectural photos also.

Cannot recommend this place enough. My friends and I visited Seattle and this was the number one place we wanted to say. It did not disappoint. Make sure you see everything you can while you're there.

What a treat! Seeing the guitar Jimi Hendrix used at Woodstock as well as the stationery from the Beverly Hills Hilton that he used to write "The Wind Cries Mary" was unbelievable. I didn't know that he was born in Seattle which was another surprise. This was just one of the great exhibitions that was on site at MOPC.

Pop star Prince also had his own room full of interesting artifacts as did Pearl Jam, and Nirvana. There's a 50 ft. tree made out of guitars as well as a guitar gallery, sound labs where you can play guitar, drums, keyboard or sing your heart out in the soundproof room.

We really enjoyed seeing costumes on display from the Wizard of Oz and got to see the dress Judy Garland wore as Dorothy, the hat the Wicked Witch wore, weaponry from The Lord of the Rings and more.

Absolutely loved visiting this museum and would definitely go back again when I return to Seattle.

A must visit place if you are in Seattle. You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours here. They have wide variety of museums inside here starting from movies to pop music. Though the name suggests only Pop, but it is a misnomer. One of the 5 best places to visit in Seattle.

This has a bunch of recognizable props and costumes from movies and TV. I was probably not in the right mood to appreciate it and spent only a half hour here -- others might find it exciting, but I was underwhelmed.

This museum is very diverse, you are bound to find something that interests you. I am more of a person that likes to just look at things at a museum and not big on reading EVERYTHING. There was a lot of signs to read next to each object displayed. We went on a Friday during spring break and it was very crowded making some of the cooler rooms such as the sound and game room more of a sit and wait your turn place.

Spent here two hrs, incredibly entertaining, super powerful place. As not a fan of the museums this one became my favorite top one of Seattle! Get a citypass and visit as top 5 Seattle places :)

Not that big, and the collection is not that great. Nice atmosphere and presentation, though.

Overall poor value for the average person. Probably worth it if a sci-fi fan is already nearby -- but not worth a special trip.

We came here on a free day and it was crazy busy. It is now known as Museum of Pop Culture or MoPop and I think the name suits it better. It is such an AMAZING place. We spent three hours there and could probably spend another few more hours if it weren't so busy. There is lots to see and do and we will definitely be back. Its a great place for people of all ages. I highly recommend visiting this place on a rainy day.

Lots to do and see here. Definitely worth the cost of admission though I'd highly recommend getting the "CityPass" so you can visit the surrounding attractions as well. Everything from Scifi to Music to games and more. The exhibits are all informative and easy to get through.

Zepplin, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Prince had their own exhibitions. The game exhibit was hands on so you could try a bunch of games and pretty informative on development process and funding. There is also a really neat sound lab on the third floor where you can play instruments, mix and scratch etc. You could easily spend a day here.

You can take photos but they ask that you don't use flash photography. There is a cafe with comparable prices to the restaurants in the area and their gift shop has a good selection of trinkets and other goodies to take home or grab as gifts for others. Lots to do here if you have kids in tow.

Spent about 90 minutes here and while I enjoyed it I didn t personally feel there was a lot of content for the price. A lot of the 2nd floor was under renovation for the new Marvel exhibit. It was also a little confusing figuring out where to go as a lot of people were just stopped staring at the big screen and it wasn t obvious you had to cut through them to get anywhere. I loved the Star Trek exhibit and found the others interesting. I d say take a look at the exhibit list before going and make sure there s a few you re interested in first, as they are each catered to certain people s interests.

Sort of a tiny version of the Smithsonian.

There's a little something here for almost any fanbase. From music to movies, if it's a major franchise there's probably a small piece of it on exhibit here.

I went to the museum using the Seattle City Pass (highly recommend and possible to knovk out in obe day). I was lucky enough to make it to the Star Trek exhibit. It was a multi level, interactive experience that I recommend to both fans and those who have no idea what Star Trek is. The fantasy exhibit had items from nearly every fantasy movie you can imagine. The sci-fi exhibit was amazing and had so many displays from different movies and television shows. The horror exhibit was great too, I enjoyed walking through the bodies and telling the zombies to knock it off. They will soon be getting a Marvel exhibit and I'm bummed that I won't have the time to see it.

Loved the experience. Especially worth the money because of the Marvel exhibit currently there. This really brought both young and old family members together who can all relate to a comic they read or movie they watched. Well worth the money if you take in all of the exhibits and spend a couple of hours there.

For anyone who enjoys pop culture this is a must visit. It is called mopop. The exhibits are extensive and it is well set up. They have a lot of memorabilia from a lot of music artists. This is also one of the choices on your City pass if you purchase one, which I highly advise.

We liked a lot. We spent over four hours there and only got out because we had to get the car out. There is a lot of interaction, but I think it could be even more interactive. Very interesting. Music, video games, drawings, movies. High point Star Trek exposure, but it is in the last days.

A must see! This museum is fun! Some exhibits change (Marvel, Hello Kitty, Star Wars.....) and you pay for that extra admission. The exhibits that stick around (like horror, fantasy, sci-fi, video games, instruments....) are all included in regular admission and they may change slightly but for the most part stay the same. Horror, fantasy, and sci-fi are all large areas where you wander around and you will read about films, see videos, learn, and see awesome film props! Where else can you see the lion suit worn in Wizard of Oz? Or Freddy Kruegers blades and sweater? Or Darth Vaders lightsaber? Amongst hundreds of other props!
There's a cafe, a humongous video screen, gift shop, and a few exhibits of local rock stars like Nirvana and Hendrix. I even saw Michael Jacksons glove.
You can have your coat checked for free to. Well worth a visit!

Another experience, which city does not make you want to return. And less to this ashtray of the 70's where we live, the older ones will understand the analogy, when the ashtrays had a lot of smoke that is how our pollution is.

This is a cultural landmark that is a must-visit if you are in the area. There are some standard exhibits that always stay, but some rotate after a certain amount of months. When I went they had a temporary Marvel exhibit that was a real treat, with authentic items that were seen in the films. Took off one star because all the people looking at the exhibits made it hard to see everything

The place starts looking promising: big screen with music, the guitar tower, ... But it deflates very quickly. It is very boring, the arrangement of things does not enter at all through the eyes. So much glass showcase with so many lights around makes it sometimes difficult to see what is inside, especially in the darkest places. Everything there is old, I do not say do not put it, but there is nothing current except for the Minecraft exhibition ... and finally, they could have done something, again, more original. In the part of science fiction, music and terror something is missing from the last 20 years. Honestly, it is not worth the price of admission.

I spent the whole day here with my daughter and we had a blast. Definitely great place to go on a rainy day with the family. Most of the exhibits are very interactive and fun. I am from Cleveland and this is better than the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. A must see for music lovers in the city!

Wow

February is half off admission to Seattle museums. We did a general admission & saw a couple of hours worth of fun stuff: rock bands, fantasy, horror, sci-fi etc. completely fun with or without kids; something for anyone who likes classic enter, the 60 s through the millennium. Another Seattle visitor must do! Take the monorail too.

Really interesting music based exhibits, and the Marvel exhibit showed off some great art and costumes. It was a lot of fun touring through, and I highly recommend seeing that exhibit. Good stuff.

If you have time in Seattle, be sure to visit this cultural center. For fans of Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, or music in general you will find a variety of items along with games and even instruments to play and have a good time. There are also samples of articles used in very famous films such as 5th element, star trek, among others. If you do not have time to enter, a peso around the building is not bad either since its architecture is really impressive along with the views of the seattle tower.
