Loved the exhibits. There was so much to see. The only draw back for me was that entrances to some of the exhibits were hard to find if you didn't have a map. Also that while I was there a handful of people would block displays completely from view for minutes at a time before going to the next display and repeating.

Went to see the Minecraft exhibit which was awesome. only problem was that one of the interactive parts didn't work, I think it was the crafting activity ? either way, super fun. I really liked the tattoo exhibit as well, hadn't seen it before.

This museum will probably have at least one thing that's interesting for you. I'm a big Jimi Hendrix, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, etc. fan. So that part was cool. And even though I don't root for the Seahawks, I love football; so it was inspiring to see the exhibit on the 'hawks. It has the feel of a museum that was cutting-edge modern 10 years, or so, ago. The layout is not very intuitive, and I didn't come across any staff members with helpful or interesting information. I paid about half of the regular price (arranged by my hostel) and wouldn't have been very satisfied paying full price, but I'm glad I went.

I wish I had gotten here sooner! I had an hour to run through the exhibits but you ll want a good 3 solid hours to take your time and really explore. The horror section was my favorite and is where we spent the most time. It s really eerie to see all the props and masks from your favorite horror films. The Prince exhibit was exceptional too!

Did not appreciate one of the security personnel (middle aged/ blonde hair) humiliating me in front of my family who was visiting. We had no prior interaction for him to speak to me rudely about not being able to have my daughter on my shoulders and thereafter constantly staring us down as if we were up to no good.

This was my first interaction walking in and after speaking with a supervisor he didn't know what to say or do besides "I apologize for your experience " and left.

Will most definitely not come back to this place again and go out of my way to let others know to avoid.

I give these stars solely on the Marvel exhibit that was totally worth it. Unfortunately my 2 year old didn't like the museum so I had to go twice just to see it. Luckily we had stickers that got us in and out the day of our tickets. Unfortunately there is an extra cost for the Marvel exhibit and there are no ins and outs. They also don't allow you to bring a stroller in it. So my sleeping baby had to sit with daddy so I could enjoy it. There was stroller parking but I didn't feel comfortable leaving my expensive stroller and bag of stuff out there.

This was one of my favorite places we went to when visiting seattle. I was a little hesitant and almost backed out due to price but both my wife and myself loved it. Definitely worth it as there are a lot of different exhibits and they have something for almost anyone.

Amazing museum filled with some of the best exhibits you'll find anywhere in the world. It's extremely contemporary and the special exhibits are great. The opening hours during summer are extremely generous and the free coat and bag check is great and accomodates large bags.

The marvel special exhibition I went to has extremely detailed information on the history and back story of every Marvel character in the universe. Also loved the special artifacts on the first floor including lightsabers and costumes all from the original movies and TV shows.

It is really awesome. However there is a lot of wasted space and if they used the space better it would be even cooler to see more exhibits. Definitely recommend going at least once to experience it.

There is something for everyone here. The incredible exhibits are often interactive but always interesting. There is an exhibit for Fantasy, Science Fiction and Horror as well as video games and a great deal of amazing information on locally born artists (Prince, Kurt Cobain, and Jimi Hendrix, to name a few). There is a rotating exhibit that costs a bit extra but is generally worth it. Give yourself lots of time to go through the museum; 3 hours at minimum. Wear comfortable shoes and be ready for many photo opportunities!

Awesome

Four hours passed here before the blink of an eye. What a fascinating, joyous place! As a musician, I loved learning more about many types music and music history... jazz, blues, hip-hop, and enjoyed listening to tons of samples.

It was a childish, guilty blast making my own music, too, and learning the basics of playing a guitar.

If you love music and love learning and don't mind spending $18 or so (with AAA discount), do check this place out. Even just watching little kids make music and dance gleefully can be entertaining in itself :-)

My family had a great time in the museum. My young toddler enjoyed playing games and music through a huge screen. Not many people were there around 10:30ish and parking wasn t that crowded. ($13 for every 2 hour)One thing I didnt like about the place was there was no place to eat if people bring their own food. We had to eat lunch on the bench near restroom.

It's a cool spot to check out all things pop culture related and then some. Had no idea the horror film area was around the corner from the fantasy section. The Sci Fi area was even cooler. And then you get to the tower of guitars? Hendrix experience. Seattle music scene. Even Indie Video Games. You can make music, play with instruments, even a production area!

This museum absolutely RULESSS. I'm a big sci-fi fan so I loved this place. Happened to be there during the Star Wars costume exhibit which was pretty cool. They also have really cool exhibits on sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres. There's a Nirvana exhibit that's pretty neat if you were a fan. Indie video game space is surprisingly entertaining. On the top floor there is a music lab where you can play with guitars, basses, keyboards, and some other instruments and learn a little more about them. Overall great museum and would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Seattle!

Much smaller than I expected. Exhibits are interesting, with cool objects from movies and other forms of popular culture, but ultimately disappointing due party to lack of analysis and explanation but mostly to the fact that the exhibits can be absorbed so quickly.

The best part of the experience by far was the music area, where you can learn to play various rock instruments. That was lots of fun AND it helped me to appreciate music better.

But overall, I have to say this place was too expensive for what you get.

Music section is fantastic for any kid that likes music and wants to be able to learn how music is made and play with different instruments. You can even record your own music and download it for free.

It was a neat experience for a one time thing. I'd say I only really cared about 50% of the exhibits but that's standard for museums I think plus I'm definitely a movie>music buff. The fantasy, sci-fi, and horror exhibits were by far the best and a couple of pieces made me super excited (I'm looking at you Highlander gear).

The experience music project, or EMP, is a Local music museum. Fun and inviting place to explore the history and culture of music. The EMP museum has a lot to offer. I recommend anyone check it out, especially if your visiting Seattle.

Music museums are quite rare and when this was first built I visited the museum, but did not find it that engaging or entertaining. Yet, after revisiting the museum after roughly a decade, I have formed a new appreciation.

The museum has branched out to have "feature" exhibits aside from music. Although, the music staples, such as Jimi Hendrix, will more than likely still be represented--as they should--they now do different exhibits throughout the year. During my visit, Star Trek , Sci-Fi and Fantasy sections were open to peruse. I was not disappointed.

My only complaint, although I really enjoy this place is the cost.
