Hoja and Richelle were really helpful, honest and spent a good deal of time recommending the bike and kit. Had it not been for what followed, I'd have given the shop 5 stars. So what has stopped the five stars? I'd arranged that the bike be fully fitted, but when I came to collect it, the workshop hadn't done the work so I took the bike back for adjustment a couple of days later...and they still don't work properly. So a really frustrating end to what had been before, great service from two really friendly and helpful staff members.

I visited Evans last Saturday and the customer service that I received from Jon Plant was second to none! It was my first time trying out a road bike and Jon was very knowledgeable and patient with me. He explained clearly the in's and out's of the road bike, the sizing and fit and reassured me as I felt nervous heading out on my first test ride. It is a busy and popular bike shop but at no point did I feel under pressure to make decisions to hurry up or purchase the bike or any of the bikes I had tried - I felt that I was more than just another customer coming through the door on a Saturday afternoon which you can often worry about from a big bike chain.

While out on the test ride I had an unfortunate incident where I was threatened and it left me very shaken. On my return to the shop and while calling the police, I was shown great kindness and empathy by Jon. He went out of his way to make sure I was ok, made me a cup of tea and was just generally really lovely and understanding despite it being the end of a long day.

I cant thank him enough for Saturday - while he was excellent and knowledgeable at helping me pick a bike and get to grips with that- this just took it to another level and that is certainly exceptional customer service. Thank you Jon!

Keep doing what you are doing Jon and the team at Evans Mortimer Street! Five star review from me :)

Rang in advance to check had parts required and to...

Rang in advance to check had parts required and told to drop bike in and they would hold it while sourcing. On arrival told in fact could not source required left crank. Total waste of my time putting unrideable bike on train to get there then having to take taxi home as can't put bike on train to come home after 4. I'd like to be reimbursed my opportunity cost and cost of taxi fare. Any chance? Spoke with Matt, Mortimer Street. Extremely unhappy with that experience, especially as it's an Evans own brand bike.

I must say that my last experience with this parti...

I must say that my last experience with this particular store has been disappointing.

I arrived for my bike test ride and as a matter of procedure was asked for a photo-id. I understand its part of their requirements but this should have been communicated to me at the time of booking. As a bike commuter I don't have a driver's licence and I don't carry around my passport all the time so unfortunately I did'n't have a photo id with me.

I had all my bank cards and other ids but none of them had a photo on it. I was happy to leave behind my wallet, iphone, and office bag which had my laptop, ipad and important documents but because there wasn't a photo-id I had to cancel the test ride.

It is difficult to take time off during office hours for a test-ride and I had taken 2 hours off which of course were going to be completely wasted because of this simple miscommunication. All the staff offered me at the store was - come another day.



Fortunately, managed to arrange a test ride in the same time slot with Cycle Surgery, just across from these guys, who saw my situation and managed to arrange the bike for me to test. Luckily they had the model & size in store. They did take down all address details and I left behind my office bag, phone and bank cards for security. That is a good example of customer service and I really wish I had that from Evans as well.

Thank you very much to Alleseto and his team. Fabrizio who built my bike in literally minutes, Kana and Richelle for their endless help at the till and Bryan for loads of technical advice. A great team and they all deserve a big raise. A very happy customer.

Highly reccomended!!! Tim one of the instore bike mechanics is an absolute top guy, friendly, efficient, and an expert. Having diagnosed my problem and fixing it in about 5 minutes flat there and then!! . And all the staff were friendly , knowledgeable and helpful. I had never been before and I was amazed at the sheer size of the store and the amazing selection of absolutely everything bike related. This is by far the best bike store I have ever visited and the best in the area. I visited two other shops before this one and not of them had a mechanic instore to fix my small problem so i could carry on my journey. Definitely this will now be my go- to store whenever I need any cycling items in the future. Many thanks .

These guys are the best. I first went to two other bike shops in the area to ask them if they could fix my scooter, and the first couldn't figure it out, the second said they don't do scooters. At Evans they figured it out instantly and fixed it free of charge!

Great service - I had a puncture just before shop ...

Great service - I had a puncture just before shop closing time and the team went out of their way to sort it quickly - and get rid of the glass in my tire (grrr roads) - so I could pedal home and not be stranded. Totally recommend.

I went to Evans today to check some problem with my bike brakes, another cycle shop recommended changing brake cables. But Tim at Evans fixed it without having to change brake cables and refused to charge me saying its free just took 5 minutes! Amazing service and all with smile !

Mechanic Damian helped me out massively when I had a slow puncture fortunately I came across this branch of Evans cycles just before it closed he repaired the puncture really quickly! Above all he wasn't at all pushy whatsoever something I was worried as the shop was about to close. And I felt he offered me great advice on bike maintenance products whilst at the same time not feeling pressured into buying products. I've never been a big fan of Evans Cycles but my experience at this shop changed my view

Daniel Leo always makes sure customers are taken care of.
Whilst having a deep knowledge of the mechanical details his ability to approach customers and finding the right balance between both on technical and general levels is quite impressive. So always end-up learning something new when visiting the Evans cycles bike store at Mortimer Street in West End.
In spite of being a young gentleman Dan always goes an extra mile in providing a valuable customer advice in addition to bike repairs or maintenance services making overall customer experience visiting Evans cycles worth and enlightening. My London-Brighton loop, Windsor Castle and other 100 + miles rides among the other have been flawless once Dan set-up my Pinarello, Roubaix and Giant. One of my best bike stores across all others, making me a happy returning customer.

Walked several miles across London to get to this store today. Took my dog with me for the walk. Had intention of spending quite a bit on Gore Bike Wear, I know my size and what I want, so no need to try on. Wouldn't let me in under any circumstance with my dog? What do they think my dog would do? They would rather lose several hundred pounds pf sales than let me and my dog in? It's about time they woke up. I live in France where dogs are welcome in all shops, restaurants and cafes. They are part of life and welcome everywhere. I spend an awful lot with Evans over a year, but now I think that I will go elsewhere.

Big shout out to Dan in the Evans workshop. Leaving my office en route to a meeting I found the chain on my bike (which was locked to a lamp post in Soho) had somehow become badly snagged in the gear cogs (?!) and had completely immobilised my bike. I ran the bike up to Evans and Dan immediately offered to try to fix the problem there and then. After a few minutes he had freed the chain and got me back on the road. When I offered to pay for the service he said there was no charge and he just happy to have been able to help. There are some good people out there. Thanks Dan!

Martino in the workshop is a superstar!
I didn't have a booking, but Martino very kindly drilled out a seized disc brake pad retainer bolt. I can now replace the completely worn out pads and stop at red lights on my commute home. Thank you!

Two staff didn't even lift there heads to acknowledge me entering the shop. Spent about 10 minutes walking around with no other customers in the store and no one came near me! Could've had a rucksack full of cash looking to splash out on a nice BMC! Don't bother coming here. Support your local bike shop!!

Bob in the servicing centre is a legend. He is excellent at dealing with customers and superb at fixing bikes. He replaced the gears/rear wheel on my Brompton and other minor changes to get the new assembly to work and I am so pleased with his handywork. Thanks mate

Staff don't know that pedals have different thread for left and right. Have been supplied with two left pedals! I have called to complain and got the impression the store didn't care less telling me to either buy another pair online and send the pair of lefts back or travel to an Evans store to see if they had a pair to swap with!

We came in soaking having walked 20 minutes in the rain and quite flustered about our bike not working. Jon was a great calming presence not only helping with the problem but explaining in a calm way to us how to avoid it next time. We would highly recommend seeking him out if you come to this store although I m sure the other staff are great too.
