Take some train traveling from Paris to get here but it's a cool palace. Don't waste your time standing in line you can buy your tickets at a automated machine. There you stand in another line to get in and it's very crowded. Took us about a hour to get in on a Saturday. An amazing piece of history. Lots of artwork commissioned by the royalty to decorate the halls of this palace also so very interesting personal items of the king and Queen.

Huge and horrible maintenance. You need to walk for miles to find a trash can lol. Not justified for the price paid for tickets VS the amenities provided for the visitors.
Nice Palace, really liked the Mirror's Room. However, they did not give us the audio guide that we paid for because 5 30 is the closing for audio guide. Seriously? The palace closes at 6 30 and you can see it in 40 minutes. And there was a person at the audio guide desk, which just refused to give us, even though we paid for it. This made us feel scammed. We paid for a service which we did not get.
Good palace. But very badly maintained. The public amenities were really poor. Dirty washrooms. And absolutely no provision of drinking water other than the really expensive bottled water in the cafe. Lots of dust everywhere and lawns and fountains badly maintained (most of the fountains are not even working).
Two and a half hours line outside! Is it really so complicated to sell tickets with particular entry time? Or maybe it's just more convenient way to steal 50 from the people who can't stand the line? The only memory we took away is this line and giant crowds inside the place. Shame on you
I've been to the palace back when I was a child and I vividly remember the Mirror Hall and how huge the place seemed to me. Well after visiting again I can tell that those memories will stay with me until I am alive. It's hands down one of the best palaces I've ever seen. Prepare a whole day because you're gonna need it. And if by chance you are staying longer in Paris you will want to come back to the gardens as much as you can. I'll definitely be coming back to visit again.
Unfortunately, there is at least an hours wait to enter Palace, due to security checks. Some of the Palace i.e Mesdames rooms are closed for renovation. It took one hour to tour at a comfortable pace. The gardens will be wonderful in the summer. We were there end of March and it was bitterly cold. Tips: if you come by train exit the station to the right . Cross the road and turn right uphill, then first left.
The Hall of Mirrors and the Palace have been on my bucket list forever but the hordes of people ruined it. Wall to wall to wall we shuffled our way through the rooms, hot sweaty people pushing and shoving. Hundreds more waiting in the hot sun to get in. It was crazy. Summer is not the time to visit.
It's pretty, yet not worth the wait in my opinion. If you really love old Victorian houses go here, if you don't you're better off spending money touring the Catacombs, or going up the Eiffel Tower.
Way too busy, which completely marred the experience. Walking through the palace was just one huge procession, being dragged through in a massive overheating queue. Tour groups were blocking certain areas/information points and people more interested in experiencing the palace through their phone screen than their eyes kept getting in the way.
The gardens were beautiful and walking to the cafe near the boating lake was a much needed escape as the masses of people seem to avoid it.
Would recommend putting in some research into more quiet times to visit as the palace itself isn't much fun when you can hardly move.
Not much can be said about this place that hasn t already been said. Yes, it s very touristy. Yes, it s very crowded. Yes, you have to go and see it if you re in Paris. It s incredible.
This place is huge and beautiful. You have to wait for a long line even though you got the ticket . Too crowded inside , you can not feel the beauty ( only looking)
Magical! During our visit we felt we were traveling in time! Enjoyed since we started walking to the Palace from the train station... walking one those stone pavers loaded with history. Amazing experience, we enjoyed every single second of our visit. We don t recommend you to visit the Palace with children, if you have the choice. Reasonable entrance ticket prices. We don t recommend the audio guide, download the Versailles app on your phone and it works better, plus it shows maps and your actual location using GPS. Also tells you the visitors attendance hours by Palace area so you plan your visit ahead. We didn t stay to the music and lights show but I was told it is fabulous. There is a 2hour wait in the gardens after the Palace is closed. Wear comfortable shoes and feel the ambience and vibes from the 17th Century.
Since we are younger than 25 and European citizens, we were able to see the palace for free. I would say it was a great experience. Even though there are many people the place is not really overcrowded and we only had to wait 5 minutes at the front of the building, which is totally fair. Furthermore the stuff was really friendly and helpful and Versailles is really beautiful.
A must see when visiting Paris. Fairly easy to get to from any means of public transit and it's less than ten minutes walk from the train station. Line ups can be long but move at a decent pace and once inside there can be some congestion at numerous points. Give yourself at least a half-day here if not a full day. Be ready to walk a lot if exploring the gardens (which you should). The is an option to rent a golf cart.
If you want to see all of the gardens I would suggest the gulf cart. It's reasonably priced for a tourist attraction, plus you get to see more quicker. We had our one year old who had been going non-stop for three days, so we wanted to see and leave.
The gardens are worth the visit, take more time to walk through it, have a meal in the restaurant that is at the end of the garden ... The Palace has a lot of interesting things, but it's not an easy walk: there's a huge queue to enter, lack of toilets, difficulty to eat in the restaurant from inside the Palace, queues to visit certain rooms, always very full ... Go prepared!
A lot of waiting even with tickets. Definitely show up early, and be prepared to take some time with getting in. Once you are there, it's beautiful! The gardens were my favorite part.
I won't recommend visiting this this place. The organization is terrible. Crowds visit this place almost every single day and you can hardly find any boards with information. We waited in line for over 2 hours. When we finally got there, we went first to see the gardens. It turned out that there is a special event and we needed to additional tickets. So we wanted to go back inside but there was no entry apart from the main one with this huge line. And we weren't the only people that had the same problem. The exit sign inside the palace doesn't say that the final exit. We had to almost beg the service to let us inside because one lady informed us with a big smile on her face that if we wanted go back to the palace, we needed to wait in the main line. Out of 3 people only one man tried to help us and they let us in through the fast line. We had to go through security check one more time and the security guy told us to drop our backpack off to the cloackroom (weird because during our first entrance 20 minutes earlier nobody cared about that). Then the lady working in the cloackroom asked if we had any food because tourists cannot bring food inside the palace. No visible information anywhere and plenty of people weren't checked so were we? When it comes to sighseeing, the palace looks great from the outside but actually there is almost nothing inside the rooms. Obviously it's really cool that we can go through the same rooms as the kings but that's it. We were aware that lots of things were destroyed during the French Revolution but we were hoping to get the spirit of their rich live e.g. seeing a dinning table with golden plates or some bath supplies. Everything is dusty and the crowd is huge. In one room there was a chandelier lying on the floor (it must have dropped a few minutes earlier). The palace's workers started to tell us that we need to hurry up. That's a little...inappropriate as people pay for their visit and they are forced to quickly leave the room (the chandelier was lying on the floor far away from tourists' access so why do we need to hurry up if the workers can easily clean everything without being interrupted? When we finally left the palace, we saw that many people had the same problem as we did with entering the palace one more time. It shows how poorly organized this place is.
Beautifully preserved and well presented. Highly recommend visiting here. Group tour tickets took a while to process though as we stood outside in the cold. Better come prepared for the elements as you wait, but once you're inside it's fine.
One of the best places to visit. Long queue waiting, but it worth it. Take something to read while waiting, protect yourself from sun, as soon as you are inside, you will be amazed with the details of art. Watch the amazing ceilings.
Long line but worth the visit. We visited here in the month of October we re the weather was slightly cold and windy, but didn t stop of from enjoying the beauty that this place has to offer. Security was good, bathroom were clean and information desk helpful. Just a breath taking place that one must experience at least I eve in a life time. This place has an amazing design from the gates from witch you walk true to the designs in the garden. Who took the trolley and worth the $8.00 euro per person. Decently scheduled enough time to enjoy the wonder this place has to offer. See our pictures and videos. Enjoy your days in nature here.
It was really interesting to learn how the monarchy in France lived. We took a guided tour and our guide was very good. The palace was beautiful and make sure you wear your most comfortable shoes, lots of walking.
Often forgotten by the average Paris tourist, but still quite a busy visit especially during summer! Guides are almost always on hand to direct you in the right direction of you're coming by train from Paris, and audio guides are available at the entrance. The gardens are free from what I can remember, but the inside of the palace is not.
The palace is definitely worth for a visit, we are quite impressed by how amazing the architectural in the old days. But meanwhile I was shocked to see how snobby the staff can be ! I saw a Chinese young girl and her father they were inquiring a Chinese staff some information , she answered them even without looking at them and no patient at all. I do think she need a mirror to see how her dead fish face looks like , meanwhile she need to see her face well and remember where she is from! Sorry I vote 1 star only because this case! I think service is more important! A warm ATTITUDE and RESPECT is the BASIC!
We visited on a rainy day. The skip the line tickets saved us a long wait in the pouring rain. The sheer scale of this place is incredible. The crowds can get a bit pushy though. We rented a golf cart to get around, can't recommend this enough.
A great place to walk around for the day. The 171 bus will get you here but for 28 euros you can take an UBER from the metro. I would encourage that as the line for the bus was long. Decent eats and a great place for a cigar from Blend Cigar Bar. A must see in Paris
I went on a guided tour thinking I wouldn't have to wait in the long queue but alas it wasn't to be. Arrived and our guide kept telling us we will be in soon. Almost an hour later we managed to get through the side door. The rooms were absolutely packed. They need to put more people on the doors to get through security to sort out the queues. The gardens were lovely but I wouldn't go through the experience again.
Well worth a visit. The palace is beautiful and well maintained. The gardens are breathtaking! The hamlet of the queen is also worth a visit. Prepare to walk far! One plus is that children go for free.
Wonderful day out location. Palace will be always crowded. Not much to see in palace I felt. Garden with musical fountain is wonderful. I felt after seeing all other attraction one can visit palace.
Brilliant place for a day out. Located just outside the Paris with loads of parking space it makes perfect tourist destination. I was there on Monday so the actual museum was closed. In return there was no need for tickets to see the gardens, so I could spend beautiful day without being surrounded by hundreds of people. Absolutely must be if you are in Paris.
Stunning palace a very crowded during peak. Highly recommend buying tickets with an entry time, as you will skip a rather lengthy queue. It can be quite crowded in certain rooms during peak too. Gardens are grand and lovely for a stroll.
The Palace was magnificent. There was so much to see. When going - go early even with a ticket. And you must buy ahead of time!!!! The line with tickets is incredibly long wait. The gardens are free to walk in.
Really beautiful and truly grand palace. The place is pretty well restored. In summer the lines can get very long and the palace is very crowded. We did the gardens first and then when back to palace around 4:15 when there was no line. Eu citizens under 26 get in for free.
Absolutely beautiful and very opulent. The gardens are amazing but was disappointed that the fountains mostly only work on the weekends which kind of detracted from the experience.
Amazing garden! The palace is huge with lots and lots of paintings, got bored after the first 2 rooms.... With probably 100 more to go. Ridiculously long line, almost 2 hr to get in. Bring food to eat while waiting, but finish it before getting in, they are not allowed. Going in late maybe a better strategy.
A fost frumos. Beautiful. But no help to understand something. Too crowdy...I had a completly different idea..the rooms are not very large, not very different from other castles...The garden are nice, but the only thing that is impressive is that they are large...
Truly a marvel to behold. Can't even imagine the work this took to create or the amount of money. Well maintained, worth the walk through the gardens. Can be a bit crowded, so get there early and be ready for lines outside. Glad I saw it.
I have been here over 3 times. And this place is definitely a place to see if you are visiting Paris / France. Be warned though. It is always crowded especially in summer. Long queues but it is worth it.
It was great, a lot of people only visit the main palace but if you have time, you should go all the way back to the gardens, Petit and Grand Palais and the hidden villa.
It is a really beautiful place, it's good to go in the morning because the queue for enter the palace is too long so it takes like one hour and a half or two. The gardens are beautiful.
Queued for almost 3 hours even though we had Paris pass!! The way the que is managed is horrible! Gardens were more beautiful than the palace itself! You will need more time to see the gardens especially the Queens hamlet, Petit Trianon where the mini farm still functional.
Got off the metro around 10 and bought our tickets at the visitor center on the way. Did the garden and musical fountain tour first because we thought line was too big to get into the main chateau. This was a mistake as it was enormous later. It was all very beautiful, just expect the crowds and take your time to soak it all in. We were there for around 6 hours then went to a cafe in town to grab a bite to eat.
Make sure to buy tickets online with a specific time or you will be waiting in line for a while. The chateau and the gardens are stunning and I think it would be worth it to come when the fountains are on. However it is quite crowded no matter what day you come.
