Well worth a visit. Such an amount of decoration and art. Can't help but feel sad that all this has originally been built for the enjoyment of handful of people. Very crowded, too... As all other major attractions. Doesn't help much to buy the ticket in advance, as you will have queue a long time (however, if you haven't bought, you may not get in...). We went to musical gardens first, and then at 4pm into the palace - it was a bit less crowded that way.

Worth the time, but buy your tickets on line and get there early. It's difficult to really enjoy it because the crowds can either drag you along or get in the way. The gardens are not a part off the one day palace ticket, which is too bad, but you see some of them through windows.

Pre-buy tickets before coming here! If you don't pre-buy you will risk waiting in the scorching sun for 3 hours waiting to come in. The palace and it's gardens are just mesmerizing. You can spend days coming back here finding all the little secrets. Walking down the path of history is a treasure and being an icon of France, you wouldn't want to miss it. If you ever find yourself in Paris, you should spend a day sightseeing here!

I booked a half day trip for the Palace as well as the Gardens. Even with the express queue with the tour, I've only managed to get 2.5 hours to visit everything which personally is not enough. There were tons of other tour groups in the Palace so it was really hard to see the rooms or paintings properly. The gardens were very impressive though.

In the time of the strike. They let people wait for 3 hours and not letting anyone inand then just say they are not going to open it. With no warning or information in front. You are the same as your leaders!

Don't forget your comfy shoes. The wait first thing in the morning was 1 1/2 hours and it takes at least an hour to do a quick walk through. Even longer if you want to see everything. But the beauty is worth it.

Beautiful buildings and magical gardens, but very poorly managed and exceedingly difficult to gain access even with tickets. The queues are long (2 hours + both days I tried to visit) and you are left standing outside in the elements for all of it. I can't comment on the interior as despite having a 2 day pass I never actually made it into the palace itself as the queues were just too long. Possibly worth a visit off season, but definitely a waste of money for the palace tickets in the summer.

Bit disappointed, massive queues, gardens were nice but it seemed that lots of the inside of the palace was not available for public viewing, it's a very selective one way system and you could easily end up back outside before you know it. The majority was just empty rooms, nothing like what you see on TV! The gardens and palace require two separate tickets which you can buy from a tourist info office on the approach to the palace. YOU NEED A TICKET BEFORE JOINING THE QUEUE, otherwise you will stand there for nothing. Quite easy to get to via public transport from central paris

Because of a long waiting line, we saw just a small part of the castle. A small part which was incredible : the guide was quiet nice and agreable with the strangers. If i return to the Versailles castle I will take my ticket in internet.

This is an amazing place to visit, I would recommend walking the palace grounds first, as the lines to get inside are and hour plus wait and you get hurried along. The ground have many hidden gems and the ground cover 2200 acers... lots to explore and enjoy.

Must see when in Paris. The chateau and its vast park are a museum of how royal life was during an absolute monarchy. The castle has over the top Barock and Rokoko interior. It can get very crowded and it is hard to see all in one day. Recommend using the skip the line entry ticket and tour.

The palace is obviously one of the most beautiful and ornate places in Europe. You will be seeing it in a moving horde of people pushing from all directions as well as tour groups which stop in various rooms and impede any movement. Beauty is hard to appreciate when you are swept along like cattle to the next feeding pen of culture.

Perfect day trip. I recommend you to do a tour in the gardens and enter to the Palace at 15:30/16:00 when the people is less. Also, there is a man at the gift store super kind and helpful, make us feel very nice. The palace and gardens are gorgeous, the visit is worth the price.

Shocking organisation of entrance with unclear queueing system, room numbers not effectively controlled, lack of soap and drying facilities and water fountains (for refilling bottles turned off)
However, amazing museum and gardens. Neptune fountain fabulous. Biking around the canal excellent and definitely worth heading to the Trianon

Beautiful palace and well worth the visit. If you are traveling in Paris I would definitely recommend Versailles as a day excursion. The garden are just as grand and the palace itself. Take a couple house and visit the palace and gardens. There is also a cafe and shops on the palace grounds for a break if you need one.

Very beautiful and historical, but if you don t pay for the audio tour or a have a guide it s packed and you cannot read any placards if there are any. It s also a very long line to get in. Check low seasons to go and definitely spend time in the gardens because they are beautiful.

Crowds, Crowds and Crowds. Impressive outside. Not so much on the inside. Would be nice to have seen more of a replica of the way it used to be. One for the bucket list but there are better things to do in the area.

I generally expected more . I would have like to see the atmosphere of the palace and how the royal family life was like... not worth travelling that much to see just some chairs and beds. In addition there wasn t a single english guid anywhere else.

Put on your walking shoes and enjoy a day of royal beauty! There are audio, guided, and self touring options. This is one of the most if not the most beautiful places in the world! The bathrooms in the palace are free. The other two houses on the grounds are equally as beautiful! There is also a village were the gardener lived! There are rabbits, cows, and a very friendly farm dog! Purchase your ticket online and arrive 1 hour prior to get in before the crowds. Its well worth the trip!

This place is such a heaven on earth. I though that the Palace was boring. Wait until you get into the gardens.

If you do not visit, you will miss a special and nice place in France.

There is though payments to go in the Palace and another one going to the garden.

You must go and visit

Breathtaking place .

Tip: buy your tickets from the information center just in front of the train station .

Love It

Crowded on one of the hottest day of the year. Nothing at all referencing it as the centenary of the Versailles Treaty. Ending with a whimper our five year Odyssey from 28 June 2014 in Sarajevo; Liege, Louvain, Ypres, Verdun, Caporetto, Meuse-Argonne, Compiegne (11 November 2018). The War to end all Wars.... Lest we forget.

NOTE: DON T GO if you re elderly or in one of the risk groups! Covid-19 measures are taken lightly. People had masks but were cramped up in the rooms and halls.

Gorgeous palace, but the gardens are the showstopper for me. They go as far as the eye can reach. Those were for me the most memorable.

The palace was overall beautiful and you can get lost(in a good way) in the gardens. I just didn't put 5 stars because I was thinking the tour would be longer of the actual palace. I spent most of my time in the gardens. Still worth every penny, step, and time I was there!

What an amazing experience! Go for the mansion and the hall of mirrors, but stay for the garden grounds! The wife and I spent 7 hours walking around and I think that we only saw about 10% of the park. It is huge and amazing, and I wish we would have planned to be there 2-3 days! The Queens Hamlet was my favorite by far!

Love the garden outside.

Queues are ridicilously long, information on extras not available and clear, so finding for example a golf car or bicycle to rent while there is a very difficult task, also not mucb info online. Overall I was dissappointed, and the masses of people gathering inside like cattle just got too much.

Very large Palace and very large grounds. Plan on spending the whole day here. There are a couple of restaurants on the grounds that serve good food. Wear comfortable shoes the grounds are expansive. For those who cannot walk it there are golf carts to rent. You can literally spend two days seeing everything inside the Palace.

The best beautiful place i have ever visited in Paris (ile de France). I really cannot express my feeling and cannot describe my awesome visit. I totally enjoyed it, beautiful history, it added me a beautiful knowledge. The Garden is amazing & so big & vast. I advice who want to go to Palace of Versailles to go early. The day i made this visit, i walked about 14 Kilometers.

Arrived on a Tuesday at about noon. Wait for tickets was about 1.5 hrs and then min 2 hrs to get in. Decided to go to the gardens. Around 2 30 pm we finished the gardens and the line to get in was about 15 min and no line for the self serve kiosk for tickets.
Beautiful place and just massive. Can easily spend a day here. It was busy and a bit crowded inside with large bus tours.

We took a half day tour by Paris Cityvision, which allows you to spend approx 3 hours in the palace and the accompanying gardens. The palace building is huge and magnificently done with very thoughtfully done interiors but very few areas are accessible for the public. The gardens outside seem limitless. However you don't get enough time to explore if you take a time bound tour. It could be a good idea to come on your own and have a relaxed family picnic in the gardens.

It s vast. You can spend a full day here pretty easily. The gardens are insanely large. You could fit 20 Disneylands inside the gardens alone. That s how big we are talking. The interiors are cool too. The site is immensely popular and crowded though. We visited on the Saturday of Armistice Day weekend which is technically tourist offseason but it was a struggle to navigate the interiors due to crowds. I wish they would turn on the fountains year round and only shut them down during freezing temps. Unfortunately the fountains are off 6 months of the year, completely dumbfounding.

Loved it! This place was totally amazing and I'll go back again next time. We did a skip the line guided tour which made the whole experience easier and a lot more interesting. I would definitely recommend it. The water and lights exhibit with the fountains is a must.
