(1) Enlightened Equipment products do not perform as advertised.
(2) When there are problems, Enlightened Equipment does not stand behind their product.

I bought a quilt from them where half the baffles seemed to be half-empty. After being gaslit by the company that I just needed to 'distribute the down', and after several freezing nights without enough insulation, I told them the quilt wasn't performing like it should, providing photos of the empty baffles to show the problem (note full baffles on rt side of quilt, vs. half-empty baffles on lt side).

Their response was not to address the issue, but to explain why it was actually *OK* that the quilt didn't have enough down in it to do its job. When I explained to them that this actually didn't meet their obligations as a business, they stopped responding to emails.

My recommendation? Buy from someone else. Any company is great when things go well, but you see a business's true colours when a customer has a problem. And with Enlightened Equipment, after the sale happens, you're on your own.

Customer Service is #1 here. I ordered my Enlighten Accomplice about 10 weeks ago, knowing that the expected ship date was within days of my planned hike. I was told to call periodically to check on the status of my order as they were in the process of speeding up production. I did call twice over the last few weeks and the employees were more than happy that I called and had my answers within minutes. To my surprise, my bag arrived 3 weeks early for my trip!! I have not used my new accomplice in the wilderness yet; however the quality of workmanship seems to be high! Thank You Enlightened Equipment.

I have three EE quilts (Revelation, Enigma, Accomplice) and other items (pad covers, bug bivy, etc.). I was incredibly disappointed with their complete unwillingness to stand behind their product when I finally needed to contact them about a problem with the Enigma. When I contacted them about a snap that had torn out on my Engima 0F they took over a week to tell me that it would be a minimum $60 to have them repair it. They automatically assumed I had misused the quilt, causing the damage - no consideration that there could have been a sewing mistake or materials issue. I had only just discovered the second snap on the Enigma (only a single snap on my other two quilts), used the snap two nights, then discovered down leaking and the stitching around the snap torn. I had it repaired locally (excellent work) for far less, since I wasn't worried about voiding the non-existent warranty getting it repaired somewhere else. EE is totally out of step with 'cottage' outdoor manufacturers, my experience with other similar size companies is that they have bent over backwards to make things right. EE is the opposite - it's your fault from the start, they aren't interested in considering anything differently and the only solution is to pay for an overpriced repair job. Very slow customer service response times to add insult to their misguided approach. I will spend my money at companies like ZPacks, MLD and Feathered Friends for other quilts and accessories I am looking to buy.

Attempted to order Apex custom jacket. Wanted them to add elbow patches...'nope'! I understand a busy business needs parameters, but they seem to have forgotten who made them the business they are today! It's people like me and they lost a customer today. Their in stock items are made in China and I guess disregarding customer loyalty is the next step backwards.

Love my custom EE bag. Their website is great and I love the customization possible. So many other cottage manufacturers make you call them or email to customize products. EE has all this built right into their website.

My bag is great, used it many nights in the wilderness. It's warm, light and comfy.

Their customer service is amazing too, they really went the extra mile to help me out when my dog tore some stitching out of one of the baffles.

Would definitely order from them again!

Buyer Beware!! There are limited warranty and guarantee options with this company. I purchased a quilt from them, and woke up at 3:35 AM at the base of the hardest 14er in Colorado with feathers all over my tent from a hole in my quilt. I contacted the company and it sounds like they will not be giving me a refund on the purchase. I used this thing twice and took great care of it. The guy on the phone that talked to me argued with me and told me how long his quilt had lasted and that it was the thinnest material they had. This quilt was not durable enough for my purposes, and I had not way of knowing that until I tried to use it. The guy on the phone also said that most cottage brands have similar return policies. I'm sorry, but I will never once ever be purchasing another piece of outdoor gear from a small company that thinks it can increase it's profitability by making you stuck with a product you don't like. That's ridiculous. Other small brands have people like Enlightened Equipment to blame. I spent $370 bucks on this thing and will in all honesty probably be throwing it in the garbage after one month. I am not a rich man to say the least, and I have taken over a hundred hikers on their first high altitude experience for many years on a shoestring budget and a lil love. It's super depressing that the first time I get a chance to have something nicer after I more than earned it, it doesn't work out. There's no way I would pay them and wait for a repair after such poor performance of a product.

Not familiar with their products. My review is about the company's moral code and their footprint in the community. They have no respect for their neighbors or the environment. They are selfish polluters and liars. Until they show more respect, I will not support them. Shame on you.

Unfortunately, I cannot say positive things about this company.

I purchased a quilt in November 2018 after watching positive reviews of their items on YouTube, and it arrived January 18th.

I tried it out in the comfort of my home (and bed) for two nights to test the quality. Heat retained very well, but was still allowed to escape through the open footbox, if needed. It also complimented by liner perfectly.

However, after the 2nd use, I woke up with feathers all over my bed. A 1.5 inch hole formed toward the top-middle inside portion of the bag, causing the down to leak out. I contacted to Enlightened Equipment about this for warranty repair.

After sending back my quilt, EE told me that this damage would no longer be covered under their "lifetime warranty" and I would have to pay a $60 repair fee. While their products can withstand "multiple thru hikes, receiving 300+ nights of use without an issue," it could not withstand 2 nights in my bed (with a liner).

Their logic was that that this type of damage could only be done through improper use. And I understand the defense -- why should anyone believe what I am saying is true? "Our bags have lasted us 300+ nights, and this guy is saying it tore after his second night... in his bed?" I am telling you it did. But I also understand that anyone reading this review has the right to not believe me.

I followed up with them numerous times and received no reply. I had to start new claim #s to receive responses. My intent was never to swindle anyone out of a warranty, but to just have and use a good-quality quilt. I regret that I was never able to show it real light...

I am ultimately disappointed with the quality and lack of customer service at this company. Their product had so much potential in my eyes, and I applaud the marketing, but I am very disappointed with the follow through.

I purchased an Enigma from EE way back in 2014, and now I own a total of 5 different quilts/underquilts from these guys! Craftsmanship and customer service are top notch, products are easy to customize, and their quilts are incredibly light weight and functional. Could not recommend more. They make the best-value sleeping bags/quilts on the market, hands down

I called EE on a Friday with a last minute request for a quilt before I went to RMNP in June and spoke with Jenna in CS and she was extremely helpful! I owe it all to her! She said she would talk to the shipping dept. to make sure my quilt would send out Monday morning so I would have my quilt in time for my trip! Over the weekend they had already created the label and had the package waiting and I ended up having the quilt one day earlier than expected! As far as the product goes it is the best thing I have ever purchased in the backpacking world! Absolutely amazing service all the way around! Thank you Jenna!

I ordered a Torrid APEX vest, Visp rain mittens, and a Visp rain jacket. Since they were custom orders, they took a long time, but the website time frame was accurate so I knew what to expect. I am a solo canoeist trying to lighten my load as I age and the items were all very light and well made. I have not had a chance to use the rain coat yet, but I took the vest and mittens on a winter trip recently and loved them both. And they have shaved a full pound off my base weight.
