A lovely British historic getaway with scenic views, heated bathroom floors and spacious rooms. There is even a heated pool, a tree swing and a small sized functional gym. Loved the courtesy and service by the staff to work a little beyond normal to make us feel welcomed and taken care of. I'm already making plans for a second trip with the family.

Wonderful location, premium service throughout with a real personal touch, spoilt me with a special birthday breakfast Quite a magnificent stay from start to finish.
Our experience at Ellenborough Park was disappointing, especially for a Valentine's outing. We had an engagement in London on the holiday evening so spent two days prior at the hotel, with the idea that service would be stellar during a couple's time of year. It was not. The grounds are lovely but aside from that I don't know which part of the hotel warrants five stars as our accommodation was plain and dated, though clean. We were surprised by this but allowed that maybe the dog friendly rooms are to a lesser standard. However, service and attention to detail is what makes a top tier hotel and whilst staff were friendly, we found the hotel lacking. Not once did we get a breakfast menu during turn down service. On the first morning we mentioned the error to concierge with an assurance that it would be remedied on the second evening. It was not, and instead my partner had to walk to reception after midnight so that we could have our breakfast in bed on Valentine's morning. Which was delivered ice cold, the espresso like cold mud in a cup. A shame since our meal the day before in the dining room had been a pleasure. We also had a line error with both phones in our suite, so that they blinked red constantly on either side of the room. Calling front desk in the middle of the night made no difference, and instead of fixing the problem for two nights we had to store the phones underneath the desk and nightstand in order to sleep. Completely unacceptable really. I strongly felt that as 'regular' patrons we received sub standard service, as we were often reminded how popular the hotel is with horse jockeys and the like. Whatever the case, I have no interest in visiting again and there are certainly far better five star establishments true to the rating.
Perfect stay. Lovely rooms, very warm outdoor pool - which was fantastic! Excellent spa facilities and everything felt safe regarding Covid-19 precautions. The steak for dinner in 'The Horse Box' was very tasty and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The grand hall is beautiful at Christmas with the fire lit, the Christmas tree and mulled wine. Beautiful grounds and surroundings. The building is steeped in history. There were a few minor negative points - such as: one of the towels we had was already used, plus the carpet in the room had seen better days. Also the 'fresh fruits' on the menu at Breakfast was just an unwashed apple and some unwashed grapes in a bowl. But aside from these minor points - the rest of the stay was perfect and the hotel does deserve a 5 star rating and we would stay here once again. Other reviews complain of slow service, but we did not encounter this at all - service was very prompt.
Well located and easy to find, plenty of parking bit unclear which is the most appropriate to park in and signage could be better. Facilities were good and the staff better!
Fantastic place to visit, it looks beautifully grand. Lovely wedding venue but also good for afternoon tea- which is why I visited. Staff are really professional, truly an elegant experience!
Ellenborough Park is lovely. Definitely a 5 star hotel and the experience was brilliant. It is in Southam which is in Cheltenham. It is in the countryside and has brilliant views. We got a very warm welcome. I stayed for 3 nights. Breakfast is from 8-11 am on weekends and 7-10 am on the weekdays. Its amazing food. There is a spa and a swimming pool. There is two restaurants and a drinks area. They have a games room and lots of lovely outdoor facilities with a lot of ground. You can play jenga croquet and cricket and more! The beds are very nice and comfortable and the rooms are a good size. It's a 16th century house and used to be a private school for girls. There is also a swing outside! Dogs are allowed there. They also serve a full on English afternoon tea with everything you'd expect. An amazing hotel and I would definitely recommend you to stay there!
Beautiful building. Staff fabulous, could not fault the service. We stayed in room 8 last night. Great price for bed and a wonderful breakfast. Room was up in the eaves of the main building, spacious and with good amenities. If I was to be critical, the housekeeping in the bedroom was a little under what I would expect from any hotel. Quite a bit of dust and lacking attention to detail, under sinks, radiators, lamps not up to scratch. Overall, I would definitely like to visit again. First class service and food makes up for lacking housekeeping.
OUTSTANDING. Took my girlfriend here for a surprise getaway - and it was perfect. The location is great - the building itself is so lovely and considering how old it is, extremely well maintained. I have honestly never come across somewhere with such friendly and helpful staff, I'd like to make particular mention to Johnathan on reception who was amazing! The food in the restaurant is great, our room was a deluxe room, it was immaculate, very spacious, and the bathroom was massive! Loved the outdoor pool and there is a great walking route that'll take you right to Cheltenham racecourse. The only thing (very minor) thing is that the spa bit isn't as large as I was expecting, but considering we were only there for 1 night and the rest of the experience was SO amazing I'm not going to knock it for that at all because although not large, the quality is brilliant.
Absolutely superb, esp the heated pool tucked away in an extended space with private terraces adjoined with little gates (ask for a room on the ground floor by the pool). Very quiet. Beautiful gardens. Roll top bath and beautiful modern bathrooms. With the front door and other areas dating back to 1485 and breakfast in the15th century great hall, it was very atmospheric. Definitely recommend. Food excellent. Views including the racing ground in the distance and walks with dogs.
Loved my stay, faultless service and amazing meals, cocktails in the horsebox are highly recommended. Loved the heated outdoor pool. Wonderful atmosphere. .
Tried to book a function for after a funeral. Tried phoning several times always a answering machine. I left 2 messages and an email from the web site and never even got a response.Don't bother.Webt to a the Royal Oak in Prestbury brilliant service and food, probably much cheaper. Will know where to go in future.
Paying for the setting. Starter was average. Had calamari which was very greasy and looked overdone. Far from light and crispy. Asparagus was also disappointing, just looked like something you could pick up at the local supermarket. The mains and deserts made up for the poor start they were delicious. Especially enjoyed the Spring Pea risotto.
The hotel and grounds are very grand and impressive. The staff was very helpful and professional. Our venue was tastefully decorated and quality of food and vine was exceptional on that particular evening. The only drawback was at night the grounds get very dark, there are positioned low and this makes it hard to see steps or uneven surfaces.
It s a very awesome place with great preserved house. A very historical place dated from 16th century. The staff is really kind and helpful. The service in the restaurant is great. I recommend those who are going to stay here to leave a plenty of time to walk around and take some nice photos.
Great bedroom except you can feel the join in the middle were the beds are joined together no lift facilties so plenty of stairs if you in the main block which is tideous if have knee problems good old English breakfast brilliant best part of visit
Visited some one staying. Fancy place. Felt out of place. Staff seemed to feel the same about me but I have a thick skin. Didn't feel them to be too warm. I really liked the place. Excellent grounds. Food was bit of a let down but maybe I was expecting more based on the presentation of the hotel itself. Would stay here if the chance presents itself
Stayed for my husbands birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Perfect location with beautiful views. Staff are really friendly and helpful. We took full advantage of the spa, horse box restaurant and breakfast too which also didn't disappoint. Thank you.
Wonderful hotel. Helpful staff, beautiful rooms and fabulous grounds. They also have a nice spa and a heated outdoor pool. Food is excellent. I always really enjoy my stays here. Nothing to too much trouble and you are made to feel extremely welcome.
This hotel was recommended to me and it was certainly more than I expected. I booked a spa package to help me simply recharge. It was just perfect, from driving into the estate, checking in at a reception to entering my lovely cosy room with another floor, just simply perfect. The hotel was also exceptionally clean and everything was done to ensure health and safety. The pandemic situation did not ruin my experience if anything I appreciated where I was and what was done to ensure I had an amazing stay by all the Hotel Staff. They work just so very hard.
Thank you Lana for being so attentive with my dietary requirements at The Horse Box. Cathy, Adelina and Ryan, thank you for being so attentive to accommodate my needs at reception. It was simply smooth. Huge thank you for allowing me some privacy for my External Meeting which was not planned during my visit. I was severely anxious about where to take it as it was at short notice. Thank you so much for helping me to complete this meeting as it was very important work wise. Jonathan thank you very much for the care and service at the restaurant during my stay. Service was phenomenal and with a smile, even though under a mask :) Hannah, Laura, Lucy and Jess thank you for the lovely spa treatments it absolutely did the job! I am ready for year end now :)
I hope to visit the hotel in the New Year. I rarely go to the same place twice unless it was above my expectation - this certainly was!
See you soon and thank you for making my stay just so wonderful.
Attended an afternoon function here and enjoyed every moment. The building, grounds and setting was wonderful. The staff were attentive and professional throughout. The food was great too! I can't wait to come back soon.
We enjoyed our stay in here. The food at the maim restaurant is top notch. SPA and massage was delightful. We wish we could stay longer. Highly recommended.
Booked for three nights and one more left........I can t wait to leave!! Shame really. Nice venue let down by very poor service. You can t get drinks at the bar let alone get booked into the restaurant. Breakfast was Ok but don t expect them to get your order right. Your paying 5* money for 2* experience.
Ellenborough Park will always hold a special place in my heart. Not only is it our go to for a weekend escape but it is also our wedding venue. The teams made our day so special. We truly felt like royalty. Forever grateful for the memories we now cherish at Ellenborough.
Lovely hotel and fantastic service. My partner broke her foot 5weeks ago and is currently hobbling around in a boot, front desk saw this and upgraded our room so we didn't have to travel up too many stairs and looked after us-Fantastic.
Beautiful main building. Absolutely amazing rooms. Interior designers were clearly part timers as the continuity of the decor was all over the place.
We were put in the new building at the back. It felt like a travel lodge. We were un aware that this was going to be the case as they don t show this in the photos.
Staff were friendly couldn t knock them. Always asked the right questions and always happy to help.
Food was okay. Expensive for what it is. Rosette prices for food with no rosettes and it shows. Looks good but lacks flavour. The horse box was actually as good if not better than the fine dining. Not impressed at all. Have had Michelin meals for the same price and this was no where near. Breakfast was as good as a travel lodge. Honestly nothing to write home about.
This is not a five star hotel. It s a four dressed as a five. We re now in a hotel that cost half the price and it s twice as good. It s feels like a chain rather than a one off special. Luxury does not come into mind when describing this place. I can t quite think of a good word to describe it but if your after something special this is probably not the place.
This is not a place of excellence but a place that you think you would get it. Don t be fooled.
Absolutely awful experience . After travelling some distance and being unwell, I upgraded to a suite whilst at reception, to then be dealt with in such an unprofessional manner . The reception staff then reception sold the exactly the same room whilst I was waiting for my keys and then denied all knowledge . The hotel first lied about the situation and then admitted theyd made a mistake but would not rectify the situation or offer the next suite at any discounted rate . The reception staff are not equipped or trained to deal with such situations and management also failed to rectify what was a very unpleasant first impression on what I thought was going to be a very pleasant stay
Stunning hotel, beautiful location, lovely mix of old and new, great service and lovely, spacious room. Restaurant served good food in a nice setting. Spa was brilliant, great facilities and very relaxing.
Grounds were beautiful, customer service was very good and food was also very good. The rooms and general disrepair of place were a little disappointing, needs some work doing. And for the price you'd expect better WiFi/room TV's.
Beautiful hotel in a peaceful setting, within easy reach of local villages. Lovely rooms, caters for all your needs. If by chance what you need isn't in your room then just ask reception. The staff are helpful, the service is excellent. I highly recommend the Ellenborough Park Hotel.
Visited the spa - excellent treatment *but* it was accompanied by wedding speeches accompanying frim room. Some wedding guests had changed in spa facility amd dress/outfit labels and hangars scattered around changing rooms hannot tidied up. Relaxation room also not usable before or after treatment due to speeches from wedding PA. Very disappointing all round .
Fantastic 2 night stay over the New Year with excellent food and NYE entertainment - including fireworks and bacon rolls at midnight. Perfect venue for the races at Cheltenham with personal across-field 'taxi' that avoids the crowds!
We had champagne afternoon tea. It was slightly disappointing. The sandwiches were pleasant. Next tier had 4 scones which we found too much. 2 would have been sufficient as they were very filling. The cakes were of mixed standard. The strawberry shortcake was delicious as was the fruit jelly. The lemon meringue cakes were quite unpleasant which was a disappointment. The surroundings were lovely.
Stayed here for mini moon. Fantastic spot with super friendly staff. Great facilities and in good location when touring the Cotswolds. Only a stones throw from the Races - will have to plan a trip back then
Beautiful property at a beautiful location with very friendly and supportive staff. Not only this, to top it food was excellent. We had a wonderful vacation. Thank you Ellenborough Park for many my son's first birthday memorable.
We visit a few times each year and everything is always superb...except for the weak tasteless coffee served at functions. Get tgat right and I'll make it 5 Stars!
Quality of The Spa : ie The Facilities & Massage is Excellent & Afternoon With a Bottle of Champagne Very Good . The Staff are All Very Helpful & Friendly, Very Good Location . A Great Place to Go & Relax
Beautiful historic buildings and grounds, however all starting to need a refresh. Moreover it s the maintenance and cleanliness that stops me scoring Ellenborough higher... luckily neither of us have dust allergies! Staff service still great especially in the spa, just overall not to the standards we experienced 8 years ago. Food however is still great, complements to Andrew Birch and his team.
A very good 'High Tea' which was to celebrate my mums birthday. The hotel even cooked fresh scones for me as a diabetic. We left feeling very full. The picture shows only a small selection of the food served.
