We went to spend the weekend, my wife and I, May 10,11,12, and stayed in room 512.
Do not we see the reason for some derogatory comments?
It was the best 4 star hotel we have encountered so far.
It was all excellent, we just did not use the restaurant, (with beautiful view) at lunches and dinners, because we wanted to eat at the restaurants on the fringe.
As we are from lisbon, we will return for weekend getaways.
See you soon.

A very good hotel, right on the beach - just across the street: just across the street - with special and direct access for hotel guests! Great food and friendliness of staff. Beautiful pool. Clean.

Super nice hotel. Room looks like a rock room. Bath there and always sea view. Not crowded at the pool and cross the street and you are at the beach. You can use towels from the hotel by the pool and beach. Ideal. Also suitable for people with a cow's milk allergy. Drink soy and yogurt available we are only here for 2 days but enjoy everywhere.

The location is excellent on the ocean. Wonderful views from the rooms to the ocean. The furnishings are quite outdated. Cleanliness is maintained. The food in the restaurant was a bit uniform.

Quiet and with stunning scenery, service and facilities close to excellent.

The Head Barman Manuel jose treats you like family ,it's the best place to relax looking at the sea plus fantastic food

Please do not want to come to this hotel if it is. All bad. A star is a favor.

Development opened in 1963, remains emblematic in the fishing village of Sesimbra.
"Spiked" on the slope and "bathed" by the sea, still has a fantastic design and even in the first line of the sea, which makes it with a TOP location !!!
Everything very clean and organized, is the ideal place for a quiet and relaxed holiday.
However, I think they should intervene in some details, as the furniture of the rooms, as well as the doors, begin to show the wear and tear of the years, as well as the organization of the guests, because it is not good for a 4 star Hotel !! !

Small and uncomfortable rooms, an impossible and unpalatable smell in the hallway to access the rooms. A tiny balcony with a house under construction across the street. Closed gym and outdoor pool for construction. Indoor pool with cold water. There is a category of rooms called economic that does not appear on the internet. Accessibilities are bad with many stairs and tiny elevators. <br/> The bar and dining facilities are very good with excellent service. Breakfast is average.

Of negative the said "Spa" without zone for change of clothes or baths, separate female sauna of the masculine, indoor pool without bank or support chairs and cold for the time of the year. Positive view great and breakfast. Cozy room with good bed, tv, air conditioning.

I have been coming to Hotel do Mar for a few years because I like its location, however the facilities are old and the service is not the best !!
The breakfast service is in chaos! The staff does not arrive, at this moment, because there is no buffet and they have to serve the tables!
We were at least 30min in a line waiting for a place to sit. When I told the head chef that the staff did not arrive in the two rooms, he claimed that it was the fault of the guests who choose to come all at the same time. So, I learned that the fault of the queue was partly mine (ridiculous!), A very unpleasant person in his treatment of customers!
But not everything is bad! Who never fails is the receptionist Lara, who I am lucky to find whenever I come to the hotel from the sea, which is competent and friendly!

Loved it, a wonderful view, fantastic service, very helpful staff, the room that immediately gave access to the pool adoreiii, only one thing to improve the intern always always to fail but for the rest 5 stars even

The fact that they were extremely friendly by letting us check out late at no extra cost. We were able to leave the car in the hotel park while we went for lunch and had already checked out. The two hours spent in the indoor pool (even warm). Very good. I come back when I can for sure. Thank you very much for your attention. Excellent breakfast.

They have no quality for 4 stars. The beds are the most. Nothing comfortable. The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. Poor employees. The only very good thing is the location.

Good hotel, friendly staff and comfortable room.so the bathroom could be better. Next to the beach and the promenade with the restaurants. Breakfast has lots and some variety. Coffee can and should be improved. I'll be back as soon as I can

The view from the entire hotel is beautiful and the room (903) is fantastic. <br/> Older hotel but renovated, clean and quiet and with the decor (60's) that I appreciate.

Excellent either for a holiday or a weekend getaway or for a drink at the bar with an spectacular view of the bay of Sesimbra.

It is not conditioned for people in wheelchairs or for baby carriages

For a 4 star hotel it leaves mt to be desired ... the room of my country was small and old mine was already different in size maybe by having a child cmg. The desserts at lunch and dinner were always the same and the food had no taste ....

Great hotel, stuff is friendly and helpful and the view is just magical. Also a very clean place with two pools and nice food.

We had a wonderful summer vacation and much of the experience was thanks to the great facilities on the beach, has a fantastic kitchen, super profecional and friendly staff, eager to return, we loved it.

Staff very friendly, but I don't consider it a 4 star hotel, the rooms are very small and old, have some nice balconies to compensate ... the tv had channels directed to foreigners and not portuguese.
At meals the breakfast was acceptable, but at lunch and dinner was little variety and very repetitive, the side dishes was always potato or white rice, could not stand anymore ...

Calm and relaxing. Great view to the beach. Green zone refreshing. Live piano music. indoor pool. Ping pong table

I've never been here in the bathing season. Other than that, it's a dream place. From the bedroom window or the extensive veranda of the cafe, one can see the well-kept garden, which descends in terraces to the beach, and the vastness of the sea. The restoration has the desirable quality, but has as an alternative the excellent fish restaurants of the locality.

Beautiful experience, especially for the view and proximity to the beach, due to the hotel being quite old the soundproofing leaves a bit to be desired as it is near the edge

Very small rooms. Sea view obscured by trees. Totally obstructed, driveway catastrophic. Breakfast nothing special. Coffee inedible. Canned fruit. **** Not deserved. Never again. View of the sea very nice.

There were days well spent, exceptional professionals, great pools, a beach that its name speaks for itself, breathtaking views, well it had a lot more to say about it is for you to know .....

Excellent service, from the reception to the cleaning ladies. Very good food. Rooms with good hygiene.

Where to start ? Location - fantastic. Room (East wing) average hotel room. , Gardens are nice if a little small. Car parking is good, your room key operates the barrier. Indoor pool was closed at the time of my stay. Outdoor pool was a bit cold and very deep (1.7 m shallow end to 1.9 near middle then a massive drop to 4.7m ). Breakfast was avoidable not much choice pretty much the same day in day out for 2 weeks, sausages had no taste and missing texture , ham had a funky smell as did the melon sometimes, coffee machines spat out grinds into the cup but it actually tasted ok. House keeping staff where a credit to the hotel, always greeteing with a smile . The hotel itself is a little dated and could do with some renovations, balconies where quite small but could be doubled in size by covering over the plant boxes which had just a few sorry looking neglected plants on our balcony. If the price is right you couldn't go wrong staying here. But there are areas where this hotel needs improvement. Mobility access being one.

excellent I only have one less good point, the cleaning ladies have to be more careful to find out if there are people in the rooms or knock on the door before opening the door ... but otherwise it will be to repeat

I was expecting more than a 4 star hotel. Somewhat obsolete rooms, yet right by the beach.

Lack of renovation ... Rooms leave a lot to be desired ...
Fantastic location ... Shame it really needs urgent renovation.
