The zoo is pretty pricey for admission, plus if you want to ride the train or carousel, it's an additional charge. I know there was an extreme amount of money spent to renovate the zoo, and dont get me wrong, it is very clean and kept up nicely but there was a scarce number of animals considering the number of exhibits. That was very disappointing. All of the gift shops and food vendors were closed and the only place to buy drinks was a vending machine.

Great place to take the family. It has changed a lot since I was a kid. Also, they are planning to re vamp the zoo to be more reflective of the El Paso area. The ecology will be more of a Chihuahuan desert.

Was pleasantly surprised as to how much the El Paso Zoo has grown and keeps growing with a new exhibit section opening in the near future. A full day was spent visiting each exhibit and attending educational shows. Ideal for a day out experience with family and friends.

If I only went there one time I would have gave you 5 stars. I went there second time it's a beautiful Zoo. The animals enclosures look very sad I do realize it's El Paso and it's desert but some of the enclosures are just way too small for those animals. Their tiger look anorexic, second time I went I really just wanted to cry. I won't be going back because it's definitely not worth the price to get in it's too expensive for how small it is.

Wonderful place to take kids. Follow the path and see all the animals and birds the Koi fish are just relaxing to watch and the birds are pretty cool too. The "meet the keeper" shows are fun and & interesting. They tell you more about a certain animal or bird and you get to learn more about the animals. The zoo offers a huge playground that has slides the way its made 'it makes you feel like your in a jungle' my daughter said. It also has a splash pad for kids and adults to cool down. The zoo also offers a train ride however you need to buy a ticket to ride the train which is less than $3.00. In case you brought your lunch you can use one of the several benches the zoo provides under a big the canopy to shield you from the sun. You may bring your cooler and your own lunch from your house or any outside restaurant and eat it there or you can purchase something from the zoo's restaurants. The only things not allowed in the zoo are any type of glass bottles and alcoholic beverages.

All the animals I saw were by themselves, there was only one wolf, one sea lion, one donkey and so on. They seemed really lonely and bored and the sea lion exhibit was really broken down like the underwater view was really rusty. I am all for protecting animals and this was not a good experience.

The grounds are well kept and the staff is friendly and helpful
"meeg the keeper" should be better organized all around including the presentation
The after hours during the summer are the best but there should be more of them

Went recently with work. It was ok...not much has changed. There always seems to be at least one part of the zoo closed for remodeling. The staff was nice especially in the cafe. The security there however was very rude. He was maybe in his late 40s and began barking orders at us while we were still in the parking lot not even to the entrance yet. Id course I'll be back but you guys should check your security because they're definitely not improving your zoo in any way.

We enjoyed our last visit. Lots of great changes with more to come. The lion was resting right by the window were we could take pictures. We saw the giraffes and my favorite, the zebras. We took the kids and they enjoyed it. It was Easter and they got to see the events and enjoy a great day.

Decent zoo for the area we are in. Most of the animals were hidden/sleeping. Some of the exhibits were dirty (with random trash) ESPECIALLY the sea lion one. That one was actually really really gross. The glass was disgusting to the point you couldn t even see through it :( If you look HARD ENOUGH you can see the outline of the sea lion in both photos.

Overall it s a nice way to spend 2-3 hours or your day. We went on a Saturday and I m so surprised that EVERYTHING was basically closed. No drink or food stands, and didn t really see any workers. Didn t seem like very interactive with kids or their guests.

About El Paso Zoo

The El Paso Zoo is a popular destination for animal lovers and families looking for a fun day out. Located on 35 acres of land, the zoo is home to a diverse range of animals from different parts of the world, including Africa, America, Asia, and the Chihuahuan Desert. With its commitment to conservation and education, the El Paso Zoo offers visitors an opportunity to learn about wildlife while having fun.

One of the unique features of the El Paso Zoo is its focus on animals from the Chihuahuan Desert region. This area covers parts of Mexico and southwestern United States and is known for its arid climate and unique flora and fauna. The zoo has several exhibits that showcase animals from this region such as Mexican wolves, prairie dogs, desert bighorn sheep, and mountain lions.

In addition to desert animals, visitors can also see exotic creatures like African elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras as well as Asian tigers at the zoo. The exhibits are designed to mimic natural habitats so that visitors can observe these magnificent creatures up close in an environment that closely resembles their natural habitat.

Apart from viewing animals in their habitats at close quarters; there are many other activities available at El Paso Zoo which makes it an ideal place for family outings or school trips. Visitors can take part in interactive experiences such as feeding giraffes or birds; attend educational talks by zookeepers who share interesting facts about various species; watch live animal shows featuring sea lions or birds-of-prey; ride on a train around the park or even have birthday parties with special packages offered by them.

The El Paso Zoo also has several conservation programs aimed at protecting endangered species both locally and globally. These programs include breeding programs for endangered species like Mexican gray wolves which were once extinct in Texas but now have been reintroduced into their native habitat through successful breeding efforts by zoos like this one.

Another program run by them focuses on educating people about wildlife conservation issues such as poaching or habitat destruction through workshops held throughout year where experts share information about how we can all help protect our planet's biodiversity.

Overall if you're looking for a fun-filled day out with your family while learning something new then look no further than The El Paso Zoo! With its wide range of animal exhibits showcasing creatures from around world along with interactive experiences available throughout park - there's something here everyone will enjoy!
