The staff and the vet helping me are AWESOME and they should 5 STARS That being said, the only reason they are getting 4 stars instead of five is because of lack of any "advanced" medical equipment. This seems to be a very thriving business and perhaps looking into an ultra-sound device and a trained person to evaluate the scan would be worth it? Most of us would probably gladly pay you for the service rather than drive to Kona.

This veterinarian center is too overbooked or short-staffed to provide competent, quality care. It seems that the business as a whole is so poorly organized that they don t have enough time or energy to provide patient-centered care. I am sure that the veterinarians have good intentions, but I regret trusting them with the health of my pet. No continuity of care and poor communication among staff.
Not only was this vet a waste of my time (consistently waited 1-2 hours for scheduled appointments) and money, but it also caused irreversible damage to my dog, without benefits that were worth that risk. I tried to advocate for my pet, but was not heard. I wouldn t have cared about the long wait-times or any costs, but when their lack of time and ability to care caused a safety and health issue, I politely reached out to them with my concerns. I hoped that sharing my experience might help them improve or at least prevent future mistakes with other people s pets, but they never followed up with me. They don t seem to care to improve or prevent future mistakes.
I would recommend AVOIDING this vet and taking your pets somewhere else for any serious care.

Everyone is super nice, really are wonderful people, but seem a tad unorganized. I waited 2 hours after my original appt time, got into a room, had 2 minutes with a vet doc, who is prob a great person, but only reassured me what had ALREADY been the reason I came in the first place. The worst part was paying 40 bucks for that entire experience. I'm still in the parking lot because i had to review immediately, I Got a bad taste I need to rinse with some good now with the rest of the day i have left

I took my newly adopted stray cat here to have his rash/patchy fur looked at, and to receive vaccinations. The staff began by testing for parasites in the stool. They did this without my consent, and I only found out about it when billed at the end of visit. The vet was unable to confirm my cats gender. The vet discovered that my cat was chipped, but did not call the Humane Society to see if he d already received his vaccinations before administering the first round. (I m disappointed I didn t think to do this either). It turns out my cat had already been fully vaccinated prior to our visit here, which could have and should have been easily confirmed by the vet and staff. It was dangerous to my cat and needlessly expensive for me. They were unable to tell me what was wrong with his skin, but did charge me for multiple tests. Without waiting for test results, they prescribed an anti fungal topical spray. They never called me with the test results, and were not able to tell me anything about his condition when I finally called them. They still had no idea what was wrong. The spray did nothing. Months later, he still has the same issue. When I was ready to pay the bill at the end of the visit, I was SHOCKED to see that they were asking me for over $200. I had been prepared for a bill half that amount. They never walked me through any of the charges. Lots of hidden fees that they never discussed with me. It was a complete surprise. I found this clinic to be reckless, expensive, uncommunicative, irresponsible, and incompetent. I would never harm my cat or my wallet again by bringing him here.

Great staff, Great Vets.....I can't say enough good things about this place. The vets here saved my dog from 3 major hip surgeries that had been recommended by emergency vet. services earlier. She lived a happy & active life for 4 more yrs until her 12th yr. When the saddest time finally arrived they were there to let her pass without suffering. Thanks to all the great people at Aloha Veterinary!

Aloha Vet up & running strong during the pandemic!...

Aloha Vet up & running strong during the pandemic! Dr. R. fixed our boy even though another [unnamed] local vet said, "oh, he's just getting old." CCL surgery for a torn ligament resulting in strong limp and ongoing pain was done at the price of the procedure on the mainland. Rufus will be back to real ball fetch soon, until then it's bed ball.

This morning my mother in law had an emergency so I called into their emergency line and was told I had to pay $30 to connect me to a doctor. I paid the $30 and then they told me the doctor was unavailable and that they sent the message out to get them to call me ASAP. That was at 8:30am and I ve called two more times once to wait 10 minutes and be hung up on and another saying they sent another note to get a call back. It s now 11:30 and my mother in laws cat has died. I called in again to get my $30 back and the person on the phone wanted to charge me another $30 to connect to the doctor for my $30 refund (after multiple times of explaining the issue and now having a dead pet). Hawaii blows in pet care ... in fact so much so that I can t heart having another pet for this reason alone. I ve never imagined having a pet die because not only will no vet in the area pick up or return a emergency call but to pay someone to take the call $30 and not return it? Sorry to tell you but that family member a.k.a fur baby you have in your hands that needs emergency service - is as good as dead and no one here cares. They want to charge you $30 while you sit in panic and watch them die. Disgusting.

I love the staff at Aloha Vet. They run a tad late, but they always let you know why and apologize for it. We have 3 animals with them and appreciate all the time and care they provide. We actually switched from another vet to Aloha Vet due to their friendly and knowledgeable staff. I honestly would trust another vet with our fur babies.

My normal vet for my animals, but every time I have an emergency situation - most recently a pig ripped apart one of my dogs, they are always to busy and unable to help and always refer me to another clinic or promise to call me back... which they never do.

The locations they recommend me to call and take my animals to always ask why Aloha can't take them, and I'm always stuck telling them they are either to busy or no Vet is on hand which is what happened on the Saturday after Thanksgiving... will most likely have to put the dog down myself as I cannot find any vets that are open over the weekend, even though this one claims they do emergency visits.. I've had 3 different instances of needing this service and every single time they fall short.

Every time I call they put me on hold. Then they take me off hold, I ask one simple question and they put me back on hold without answering the question. I have 3 very simple questions. 1 do you guys do vaccinations? Yes or no? 2 do I need an appointment or can I just bring him in? 3 how much does it cost? Those questions should be easy enough to answer without having me sit 5 or 10 minutes on hold.

They're so good to my cat, Kea! They give her lots of attention when I board her there. I know she's in good hands. Their prices are better than others I've found. The only negative is that they're often very busy.

I think this is the only vet that opens late. The doctors that we have is very good, and she really cares about the animals, we had an older guy with a ponytail before but it seemed he didn't know what was going on. He told us that our dog is just deformed and that's how it is, but we told him that's not how our dog acted before. A few days later we took our dog back because he was getting worse, we got a different doctor and she really inspected our dog and come to find out our dog had cancer. I wish we could of known about this earlier so we could of dealt with it before it became a bigger issue.

Dr. Malon and the staff at Aloha Veterinary Center were so wonderfully compassionate and accommodating when our Kuma was suffering from kidney failure. It was a really stressful time for our ohana, but Doc was understanding and truthful... we couldn't have asked for better care for Kuma during his last days than they provided, and for that we'll be forever grateful! Mahalo!!

Literally THE best vet I've ever taken my dog to. I have nothing but amazing things to say about Aloha Vet. I took my dog Danger there as an emergency walk-in after our neighbor's horse stepped on him and broke his leg. I was frantic, scared and traumatized and was in between paychecks and Aloha vet was able to keep me calm AND help me out financially. They really have the most compassion for your pets and yourself as a pet parent. LOVE ALOHA VET!

The only thing that you need to improve is your emergency call service.
Is unbelievable that when your pet is dying someone be asking you so many information about credit cards, even when you are frequent patient. I think that you can understand that in those moments it's now about money what you need to hear. The service at the regular hours is very good, staf is very friendly.

From making the the appt to talking with the vet, this was the best experience I've had on Island with veterinarians. She is amazing, caring and gentle. She so deeply cares about our fur babies that she even gave us a call later that same evening to share more information she had received from speaking to her colleagues. She is our vet from now on.

Disappointed this Saturday morning. Brought my puppy in for an unexpected illness but they're only open for 'retail' no doctor. I love this place you know but the no doctor on Saturday should be put up somewhere so people like me don't have to drive 40 miles to find out to call a doctor in will be $300!!! Not all of us are familiar with all the aspects of their operation. Went to another vet feeling somewhat betrayed. It is a great place to take your animal....weekdays.

Waited 30 mins my appointment... went to have first appointment for my kitten... they said she MiGHT be pregnant so they didn't do any vaccines which was the whole reason I went there... nor did they do an ultrasound to confirm... waited 30 mins to pay my bill asked two different women for my bill and they both walked passed me to check in other patients... so I left after waiting thirty mins to try and give them money... and they called within five mins "oh we saw you just left..." but they "didn't see me standing there for 30 mins with my poor kitten in a hot car" totally rude I do not recommend!

My mastif was born via ciserian section at this animal hospital and so the logical place to go for his treatment 8 years later, but when I took him there for a skin rash the medicine didn't work so I returned and the vet didn't suggest any other options so I again treated his rash with the same meds. He became deathly ill so I put him there to save him. He improved alittle so I took him home to avoid the high cost of him staying there longer and they told me he could recover at home and told me he had diabetes but not to give him the applicible meds until he had recovered. He didn't improve so I took him back again, this time a different vet had to come out to my truck to look him over after reviewing his history. She explained that he was prescribed medicine that was the cause of his condition. I asked if there was any chance he could survive at this point and was told that it was unlikely. I had her put him down to avoid more pain as he was not even able to raise his head. I was so disturbed by all of this avoidable result due to the original vet not taking the time to do blood work that would have found the cause of ailment, and basically paying over $2,000 for Aloha Vet to KILL my beloved dog I just wanted to forget the pain but for 2 years the consequences kept returning renewing my grief. So I wrote the company asking for reimbursement as a minimum way of accepting their responsibility for this wrongful death rather than suing them but with no response. So I now want first of all to share my experience with others who might find this experience helpful deciding where to take their loved animals for treatment.

Aloha didn t have the heart worm meds my pets are currently on so asked them for a prescription that I could have to order it online. Nothing but hassles and run arounds. We just spent hundreds of dollars there getting our adult dogs and puppies vaccinated and they couldn t write us up a prescription or fill out the faxed one that was sent to them. Now their new vet has to see if they can get their records, which is turning out to be another ordeal. Never going back there again.

Dr. Rodrigues is amazing. I randomly brought my dog to Aloha Veterinary to purchase arthritis medication that was unavailable at my regular vet. Met with Dr. Rodrigues who took one look at my dog s leg and suspected bone cancer and not arthritis. He recommended an immediate X-ray which confirmed his suspicion. Because of Dr. Rodrigues sharp eye our pup s cancer was identified early- way before she was experiencing any pain- giving us adequate time to provide the best treatment available. I ll entrust my pet s care to Aloha Vet and Dr. Rodrigues any day. Highly recommend these guys. They re on it.
