Genuinely the worst airport i have ever been to in the world. I had FOUR hours between flights and only just made my second flight because: 1 hour taxi and bus to terminal 1.5 hour visa wait 1 hours to check in new bags 15 minutes security.
Avoid this place like the plague. All staff are rude and do not care. I saw them put bags though without tags and have to stop the belt for the whole check in desk to go find them.
If this is the best China has to offer, then lol. You couldn t pay me to go to that country.

It gets you where you need to go but be prepared to be challenged with staff who do not speak a secondary language (which can be very disappointing as this is an international airport)
Left my cart outside washroom with a bag of yummy bakery items, came out within everything gone! Asked the cleaning n cart collecting staffs, they did not see it, then is must be passenger took it away! stole a cart/food are both very rude and low class! Can't believe that it is happened in an international class of airport! What a shame!
I hade hateful flight transit experience in this place, airport stafe treat like animal to passengers. This is not good for international passengers. No help with English.
Not really much to do and look around. Its a shame cuz Shanghai is one the largest city in China and the richest city. I dont know why there arent any extra services you could find at any other international airport like Singapore and Incheon which are my favourite airports. Still the airport is pretty clean and safe. The meals arent the greatest.
This is one of the massive airports that I have seen till now. The taxiing part took twenty minutes, phew!! I was just transiting through this airport and had a very good experience. Immigration was super smooth, thanks to the authorities. Free WiFi is available for foreigners, password generated at kiosks.
It is a very large airport. In order to enter inside there is a baggage inspection. If it goes out even once, inspection is necessary again. Depending on the time of day, there are times when you need to be careful. Although meals and souvenirs are fulfilling before departure procedures, the price is higher than in the market. Family mart open 24 hours near the entrance of Linear, there is a whole house. Linear motor cars are late at first, and the last train is quick so be careful. As far as China's airports are concerned, because the lithium-ion battery inspection is strict, it is to be taken up if you do not keep capacity and number. I was picked up by over 1
Great airport for traveling in and out of China. Clean and modern with enough shops to keep you busy. Super easy to get there with the maglev train, but it is a bit pricey.
Every time I've landed here they have had to buss all of the passengers to and from 5 e plane. Weird fir such a massive airport. Tip: take the Maglev trim to/from the airport between 3 and 3:45 when it reaches its top speed of 430kph.
Modern terminal with many amenities, but I would particularly remember the strange feeling of having it palpated every half hour after going out to smoke!
Shanghai Pudong International Airport Shanghai Pudong International Airport Shanghai Pudong International Airport
On October 1, 1999, the company moved from Hongqiao International Airport to Hong Kong and Macau. In 2002, the access to the city center was improved by opening a transatlantic pilot train to Shanghai, which runs from the station (Pudong International Airport Station) to Longyu Lu Railway Station.
The Pudong International Airport, which was opened with one runway (17L / 35R), was not long after the opening, and the runway became saturated in the main time zone. Therefore, the second runway (16R / 34L) was opened on March 17, 2005, The second terminal and the third runway (17R / 35L) were opened in March, and the fourth runway (16L / 34R) was opened in March 2015.
In 2017, the fifth runway was constructed 1750 meters eastward from the fourth runway. In 2019, the South Terminal will be completed in the south of Terminal 1 and 2. Pudong International Airport will continue to expand its southeastern coast by creating a reclaimed land on the eastern shore of the airport in accordance with the increase in demand for air travel. Finally, it plans to handle 160 million passengers per year with 8 runways and 5 terminals to be. Excerpt from encyclopedia
The airport is lower than Incheon airport because it is an airport. It is a bit complicated. I'm out of the airport and I come on a maglev train.
You need to look at the milestones so that you can find them easily. It is not a sign, it is written in Chinese and English, so it is not easily visible.
Horrible attention. Frauds Lentisimo They humiliate people who do not know English or Chinese. An ordeal. In addition to exaggeratedly high prices. The ladies of the counter are lazy and lazy.
The lady with the visa threw me my passport along with the temporary visa, in the face while saying "eat shit".
In addition to other ladies in terminal 2, China Airlines did not stop following me. They wanted to sell me a ticket, at an exaggeratedly high price. They took pictures of me and sent them to another woman who was in terminal 1. Making me believe that she had to show me my passport and boarding pass. It made me waste my time. And he laughed at me along with his other companions.
New Satellite terminal for Delta is beautiful. The new 137 China Eastern lounge is also large, lots of room to spread out and pretty good food for snack prior to boarding a long flight to Detroit.
Apparently this is one of the busiest airports in the world, and it shows. Not that it's overrun with people, no - far from it. There's enough room for everyone. But it's poorly managed, and barely staffed.
I first arrived at 4am, so when our plane load of passengers took a while to get through I didn't think much of it. We were all diverted down a corridor to the side. But on my return flight arriving at 5pm during peak times there were THE SAME AMOUNT OF STAFF.
I literally took an average of 1 step every minute for 2 hours before we even got to security. No seating, no one seemed to speak English and were just repeating what they had been told, and their machines refused to scan many types of boarding passes resulting in trying to communicate with staff. And all this after a 12 hour flight. Many people had to resort to rushing through the queue because their planes were being boarded, meaning the rest of us all came close to missing ours despite having hours of time on arrival.
Having access to the Internet to check on what is happening and what to look might have helped, but the WiFi doesn't work. Even once you find a terminal that scans your passport (if it will even do that) and issue you with a username and password to login... the Internet still does not work.
Avoid if possible. It's a convoluted mess, and no one seems to know what's going on, or at least how to communicate it. I'd pay handsomely to transfer elsewhere.
In my opinion, one of the best airports in China, of course, is far from global standards. Well organized travelers area and catering facilities. The right choice of restaurants, both in terms of cuisine and standard. Food is also normal. Cool waiting areas for departures.
This is the first time in the world that a shaving cream has been caught by a security check in a baggage storage area. I think that the crucial points are missing in the good places.
Check in counters only open 3hrs before departure and the immigration clearance takes very long. So best that you queue at the counter before it even open so that you get to spend time after clearance. The shopping place and lounges are world class.
Navigating the airport was not hard. There were not many options for a vegetarian or soemonre who doesn't like Chinese food. There are too many duty free shops. I would prefer few shops with all options available in each of them. You need to go to the plane by bus.
I entered here the night before and took a nap in order to return home early in the morning. There is a space to take a nap, and there are free WiFi and mobile charging facilities.
AT ALL COSTS, avoid PVG in your travel plans. PVG does not care about anything that happens to your flight and will change the gates from the departures floor down to the area around the parking lot and force you to ride the bus to a random place on the pavement to board your plane. They will also not announce the changes until it is boarding time and by then, you could be all the way across the absolutely massive terminal that is organized to make you kill your legs. The entire terminal is a straight line kilometers long with very little ways to aid you in your way across. If you are stuck at one end and heard of a terminal, you might not even catch your flight if you do not run. The wifi is very slow and the log in page is filled with ads. Do not even bother with the computers unless you can read chinese. The wifi also requires a chinese phone number with no way around it and the service wont help. The directions are all in chinese and the people dont speak English, they memorize the pronunciation and speak like zombies.
The airport itself is huge. Go with a lot of patience. The flights are usually delayed and never give tourists the explanations because. The Chinese take advantage of each place, so do not be surprised that they feel anywhere, both to wait and to eat.
IMPORTANT: In the airport many thieves are showing stolen I Phone selling cheap price. Never buy from them. They show something and give you something else. It is like a mafia chain. Be careful. Other commitments: 1. Airport is clean, well maintained. 2. At night looks lack of illumination and feel dark. 3. Staffs/ security are friendly. 4. Big airport with all the facility. 5. Staffs can't speak English sometime and difficult to understand them. 6. At late night very few shops, restaurant is open.
One of the worst airports I've ever been to. Security tossed my bag with no regard for the safety of stuff inside, right in front of me! No staff looks happy to work here. It's not lively one bit in the Gate Terminal area. Furthermore, don't even bother getting Starbucks here. The drinks taste watered down.
I was there for a flight transfer and have to wait for about 4h. The airport is quite big and modern style. Many shops in the waiting room, a lot of mobile charger places, and free mineral water that claimed to be sterilized. However, the wi-fi is quite difficult to get. You have to submit your phone number and get the ID by SMS, or have to scan your passport at a special machine to get the printed ID. Pictures are attached. I wish you have a safe flight.
I boarded my flight traveling from Seoul to Shanghai (PVG) to then get to a connecting flight to United for LAX. I DO NOT RECCOMEND USING THIS FLIGHT FOR ANY CONNECTING FLIGHTS. Shanghai does not automatically transfer checked baggage to the connected flight, causing me and my friend to frantacially rush to pick up our baggage from baggage claims, to then again get it checked back into our connecting flight with United. Keep in mind that we had 3 hours of layover time, and yet almost missed our flight due to the neglect of Shanghai airline s care for passenger s time sensitive, connecting flights. Our arrival time to PVG airline was suppose to be 5:30PM, but was also delayed due to late arrival and the need to bus us passengers to the terminal for baggage claims. This set us back for at like 45 minutes. Our wait to pick up our baggage at claims took much longer than necessary. The lines we had to wait to exit and get to the next terminal with no assistance, to catch our next flight due to timing errors on Shanghai s end is obscene. I will never use this airline again. Note that we originally were called ahead of time to confirm because we feared this might happened, but a representative explained that our baggage from Shanghai airline could be checked in to the next flight fully without us have to manually re-check our baggage to go through security all over again, but as you can see this was not the case on the day of. We and many other passengers on the same flight had to go through this traumatizing experience.
This is my first time giving a one-star rating(frankly speaking they are not even worth a star) but this airport has given me the worst impression ever. I have stayed in China for quite a fair bit of time and was only informed that I would be fined some money which needs to be paid in RMB cash. I asked the checked-in counter on where I could use overseas card to withdraw cash and they were so inexperienced and did not even know if this airport has any banks? That aside, the staff are so rude! I have heard from my chinese friends that some Shanghainese tend to be rather arrogant and rude but I was really amazed in how they portray unprofessionalism in their service line. I asked them politely where I can withdraw cash and they told me to go back to the city(which takes about 1.5hours by car) to withdraw and just change my flight tickets. What was really disappointing is I was actually catching Singapore Airlines, an airline that is known to have one of the best services?? And I told them its impossible I can change my flight since I already exceeded my stay. One of the staff told me "it's my own problem". I seriously don't care who you are but you are in a service line so is that the way you serve customers? He actually made many more rude comments which made me really furious.
I wrote a letter to complain to Singapore Airlines Shanghai and amazingly, they pushed all responsibilities to a third party carrier and the banks. I was commenting about their staff's attitude and it is shame on Singapore Airlines on how they tried to avoid admitting their mistakes. I cannot believe it is an international airport. It was overall the worst experience in China's airport after going to at least 7 airports in China.
I went to Shanghai for the first time in several years because of Shanghai Disney. I used LCC for flights arriving early in the morning and flights departing late at night, but it is recommended. At that time, immigration was relatively empty, and I never thought that the security was bad. Even in the early morning, I was able to kill time with Burger King on the arrival gate floor, and I was able to charge it. Take a taxi to Disney. You can easily use a taxi if you write your destination on paper and give it to you, but you should check if you have a meter.
I returned home and the duty-free shop was open even at midnight. Also, it was good that there were many all-you-can-eat-and-drink types such as beer, juice, cup ramen in the lounge.
nice airport but the worse thing is the extremely slow wifi and non-existent 3/4G network. dont expect to do any email checking or internet research here.
Worst airport ever. The building is nice but that s about it. ALL of the workers, from security to food places are RUDE. No one has any manners, respect, people skills NOTHING. get a straight flight or stop somewhere else and avoid this place!
Special thanks to Ms. Cai Liwei of Delta Air Lines. My mother came to the United States this time. We even forgot to register her evus. Special thanks to Ms. Cai Liwei for helping my mother register and let her board the plane to the United States.
It is recommended that you do not establish a tight schedule in advance of the landing time of the airplane, as it takes a lot of time for immigration. I think that the airport itself has the facilities and operational aspects that are usually well prepared compared to other airports. However, as I mentioned earlier, in the case of immigration, the time required for the number of immigrants to be screened compared to other airports was longer in my case.
Of the largest and most modern airports in the world, the only minus and very basic thing is that the waiting area for check-in seats is a little proportional to the crowds waiting so you have to wait hours!
Huge and well marked. Interestingly, for the forgetful you can buy souvenirs at a decent price at the airport. This also applies to eating and drinking.
Best airport in china. Layout between terminal and terminal 2 is really functional with maglev, subways, parking lots in between Full of restaurants anywhere
The scale of this airport is hard to comprehend. It is BIG...for its size...well laid out. I had to spend a long layover here...all things equal it was not too bad(access to dining, shopping, amenities, assistance, and comfortable arrangements). As I reflect, the only reason I gave 4 stars was because some flights debark on the tarmac(mine), and passengers take a long bus ride to the terminal(the airport is HUGE!!!).
i was flying from bangkok to shanghai transfer to frankfurt (germany) yesterday! we had a huge delay from bangkok, so i had to use fastlane line it was final call for boarding already. when they saw my powerbank at security control they said, they need to check it from the chef, but i explained that i have not enough time cause its already final call and need to go. and i was flying with this powerbank a couple times to china also in the past. so they said i will get it at the boarding gate. but i did not! so where is my powerbank now? as far as i know, the powerbank violats not in any form the flight and airport conditions cause i used it before in china! this is all the fault from the security guards and they even didnt hear me out cause my time trouble to catch my flight! chinese people are like ants, they just dont have common sense with no education at all!!! poor very poor people :( even no response to my email, nothing more to say. i will never come back or fly to china again
Ok airport, easy to get to, checkin line waiting was a bit longer than I had expected but I guess that varies. A pity is the shortage of nice souvenirs, it's mostly just merchandise with pandas on it, so don't rely to do your last minute shopping here.
Came in late close to my boarding time, didn t have much time stay in, but this lounge is amazing, locates at Terminal 1, Gate 135, fly international. It would be great coming in earlier and chilling a little bit. Beef noodle soup was fantastic.
wide! Modern and well thought out. The transit may be a long distance. The lounge was also beautiful. However, children hate the smell of this airport because they are not good at it. I don't care much ...
The airport roof is full of modern art design and the equipment in the airport is quite adequate. But for a cosmopolitan international airport, there are still many improvements.
