Hotel very nice . When my was went front desk to check in one young lady at the front desk wasn't friendly at all. We have a complementary diner for two and this lady didn't say nothing about it. She just
gave the keys to my wife and that was all. Rest of the people were very nice.

The location was ready to find, our room was perfect, and the pool area was more like a resort than a standard hotel. You can even hit the outdoor bar and bring your drink into the hot tub with you. I'd definitely stay there again, and I definitely recommend it to others!

There is a huge construction going on under the name of mild renovation and it is impossible to spend the day at the hotel premises due to the extreme sounds. At night it's still impossible to sleep because the A/C's in the rooms are very old and create a lot of noise.

The hotel also has the rudest personnel I've ever seen. When we told that we don't want to stay in these conditions, the staff didn't care at all. They didn't allow us to upgrade to a higher level room even if we paid, and they said they will be holding on to the price of 4 nights and there won't be any refunds if we don't stay.

The worst part was because of the construction, there are insects everywhere. And the hotel doesn't take any precautions about this. Not enough cleaning, not enough pesticides etc. My mom was bit by a venomous spider in her sleep. Now we're dealing with a severe medical condition.

This was the worst hotel I've ever been in.

This is a very nice hotel. The employees and rooms are excellent. They gave us cookies upon checking in and made sure we had everything we needed. Also, they switched our single bed room no questions asked. I would say the only con would be the parking because they are small and fill up quick.

Doubletree is conveniently located near the highway, ocean, horseback riding, and golf. The rooms are very nice. The restaurant downstairs is indoor and outdoor. I like the atmosphere and the food and drink are delicious. The staff at the bar seemed a little young and inattentive. Great place.

Bartender is rude and was annoyed that he had to make a drink after calling last call. It was our first drink. It wasn't like we had been sitting there all night and didn't hear him say last call.... we walked in 30 min before close and he was annoyed we had ordered. Server looked young and inexperienced but the drinks proved otherwise. The margaritas here are amazing. Actually e everything at this hotel is amazing. The one star is for the bartenders who really dont care about their jobs....or have very poor customer service training. Either way it made me not want to order another drink here. Hotel is great and very accommodating.. I would stay here again most definitely. The rooms are clean AF! Date was Saturday the 21st time 10pm.

Been coming down and staying at this DT every week for the past 6 months.

Pros:
Rooms are spacious and clean
Staff is friendly and helpful
Free warm cookies
Breakfast buffet is good
Rates are usually pretty fair

Just ok:
Gym is a little small
Happy hour used to be better
freeway audible from some rooms

Walls are also decently thick. Never had issues with hearing noise from neighbors. (The Marriott across the street has pretty thin walls... But a much nicer gym)

Definitely disappointed with our stay.

Definitely disappointed with our stay.

Cons:
1. Outdated rooms.
2. We had a single towel in our room.
3. First rooms AC that we got (#244) sounded like a lawn mower. When we asked for a new room we got a bunch of attitude.

Pros:
Location

Staying at Doubletree Del Mar was great! There's not much within walking distance of the place but that wasn't really an issue. Room service was quick and the food was 4 star. And the cookies... anytime you go to guest service and talk to them they give you fresh baked cookies! The only issue I had was the wifi. It's kinda complicated, there's a standard and premium internet package that I think you have to pay for.. that I did not like but was not a serious issue for me and my family.

the check in was busy they said our room was guaranteed by 4 pm we got ours at 530 they said it was sue to covid-19. I got to the room with no fridge or microwave, they said i can use one at the lobby. The remote control wasn t working and had no xtra toilet paper. Be ware no fridge or microwave in any rooms offered. we were in the bottom floor and we could hear all the maids making so much noises outside our room and when we called the front desk, all they said was, it wasn t the maid. no late check out, although we check in late and are Golden members. we ve been staying at double tree across the country for years and this has to be the worst one yet. suggestions, instead of the front desk arguing with us, just smile and make us feel better cause we just wanted to sleep and rest we don t have to worry arguing with the manager at the front desk.

Under construction with very loud jack hammering, dirty tunnel from small room as lobby to elevator since there is no longer a lobby and the restaurant is in plastic outside. Chilly in the morning. Windows were dirty so pool view not so nice. Management told me they would be in touch with me to discuss twice. The manager never returned my calls. I am disgusted. I stayed quite often and I will now have to find a new go to hotel from Phoenix.

Great location. Nice comfortable beds. Rooms don't have refrigerator or microwave, but I think they can arrange for that. Room size is pretty big. Nice closet space. No laundry on site, just dry cleaning. Staff is pretty courteous and friendly. Close to beaches. Not sure why they charge for parking, it should be free but it's 15 bucks a day.

Excellent stay at this Double Tree. Friendly service. Clean hotel and room. Smelled fresh as soon as I stepped off the elevator. The pool is a great amenity as well as being able to warm up in the hot tub.

I so wanted to like this hotel.

I so wanted to like this hotel.
However, inconsistency rates very low in my book.
I threw out the last experience, because I really wanted to like this place, but won't do that again here.
I'm changing my review after 3 trips here.

This exhausting night started out as ineptitude on the part of the reservations (contract Hilton has with the Philippines) and I can ONLY surmise it's to save a buck, and wow, how the quality has seriously diminished. In my experience, they could not care less what happens after you make the reservation. And blatant lying is par for the course.
That was not the hotel's fault at all, I will agree.

But the hotel could have and should have made things right the best they could since in fact they work for the same BRAND and that was a recorded call which can definitely be pulled back up.
I do not care anymore whatsoever.
But I refuse to leave up a review I have twice since found to be not the norm.
My second experience here which was not good, I did not take down my initial review, but after this one, certainly and without a doubt.
Rookie staff should be TRAINED before they are put on the floor with absolutely zero customer skills. That was the second guy, Chris. Chris is a 'green' as they come, with no understanding of how to diffuse a situation and actually worsened it after Shawn had made it clear we would work it out when I got here given the situation and guarantee (supposed "verification" from the reservation rep)...

Shawn had been empathetic and I thought had my back, but unfortunately, Shawn never let his coworkers know anything about the deceptive conversation in which not only did the reservations rep give me totally false info, she went as far as to LIE and say she called and spoke with the hotel upon my request THAT SHE VERIFY WITH THEM --BEFORE-- I made the reservation!!!!
And it's easy to verify she was lying after that call is pulled. There were only 3 employees working at the front desk since 3 pm and NONE of the 3 recall her calling to inquire on my behalf about a specific policy. I should have asked her to get a NAME when she called (as proof). Dang! Now I know! So sad, it has come to this with this with Hilton- that you had better always be on your feet (even if you are exhausted)...

Secondly, I never asked for the room temp to be dropped which I usually do because let me tell you, the rooms in this hotel are hot as hell and they take FOREVER to cool. I'm sweating and this room should have been cool quite awhile ago.
But what I did ask for were 4 extra FIRM pillows I use as body pillows. Shawn assured me that was done. I tried to shift my energy and calm and focus on the good until I got to the room and saw they had never been delivered, so when I went to the lobby to retrieve them, I was frustrated, but graciously accepted his apology and took the flat, very mushy pillows to my room. Said not a word at that point, but review will.
Additionally, the internet is exceptionally slow for whatever reason.
And I mean, so slow, they should not have advertise it, but then who would stay?
[[Case in point, I have had to re-connect 3 times just writing this review.]]

I am never coming back here. There are so many other viable options.

You know, I was listening to NPR yesterday, and how the CEO of Domino's pizza, Patrick Doyle, did the unthinkable: he came out in 2010 and said, " Our pizza sucks. We're starting over from scratch."
I may not be a fan of driving junk food globally, as they are doing, but I respect what how honest he seemingly was in 2010.
It's called OWNERSHIP and responsibility. It shows that as a business, you are listening, and ON IT. In the real business world, it also demonstrates you want to succeed.
I offer this example because I strongly suggest Hilton start over.

Hilton, as a whole, is on the decline in quality and is no longer even relevant for hotel standards of excellence CONSISTENTLY.
(Not even close).
This hotel is no exception, unfortunately. And I regret to have to post this review. I really wanted to like this hotel!

The good: Tara and the other staff at the hotel restaurant were absolutely wonderful. Tara in particular was kind, attentive, and quick with everything we asked for. Fernando in the morning was speedy and sweet.
The black out curtains were next level, and the room was overall quite nice. The housekeeping staff were friendly and efficient .
The bad: The shower was its own special frustration. If you wanted warm water, you had to turn the handle all the way to the hottest it would go, and the result was barely above tepid. Until someone flushed their toilet, or otherwise used the water in their rooms. Then it was scalding. The only options appeared to be to take cold showers the whole trip, or tepid showers that were interspersed with periods where the water was unbearably hot.
Three of the towels that we had the first night had makeup on them. We had these replaced, and one of the replacements had latex paint on it.
The top two drawers of the dresser wouldn't stay closed, which wouldn't have been a problem, except for the minor inconvenience of the fact that it was in the walking path to the loo.
I did not receive a single smile from anyone at the front desk until the morning I left. I work in the service industry - I get it. Service industry positions are terrible for the soul. But a fake smile wouldn't have gone amiss. Most of the occasions that I interacted with the desk staff I felt that I was at best interrupting them, and at worst irritating them.
The hotel overall seemed a bit rough around the edges: there was peeling wallpaper in the halls, and water stains on the ceilings of the hallways. The light for the elevator call button worked only intermittently, and the conveyance itself was quite slow.
The annoying: There aren't refrigerators in the rooms anymore, I guess? Unless you're in a special suite, you have to call down to get one delivered.

The location of this hotel is right near some major freeways, yet the rooms are quiet. The rooms are nicely furnished and spacious. They offer adjoining rooms. The pool area is definitely the highlight. Lots of chairs, a kids pool, and a hot tub. There are also outdoor fireplaces where they will bring food out to you. The fitness center is small but has very nice cardio machines and a few weights. Overall, its a nice hotel in a convenient location. It is very nice in summer when you can sit by the pool.

Clean and nice refurbished rooms, but they were still working on the lobby, making the hotel experience .... Awkward. Checking in a side room, limited parking, awkward parking lot. Also Madre the reservation on hotwire and was not told about the $14 a night parking fee (despite there being ample parking everywhere.) Probably will be better when construction is done but can't rate more than e for our stay.

Check-in was quick and easy, it was a no hassle check-in. Front counter was quick to make sure I had what I needed. Thanks to Jordan, front manager, who upgraded my room to give me the view I needed for my journey.

Don't be fooled by the prices. No bell boy at a Hilton hotel.. we have to carry all our luggage from our car to our room. They claim they advertise the parking fee but I couldn't find it maybe it's hidden in fine print, I would of added that to the cost of per night stay. They tack on 15$ per night for parking your car. The one star I gave is for Jon lovely the receptionist who helped us with our stay. This is a below Mediocre hotel for Hilton and this is a fair review. There is plenty of better options around this area

At first was disappointed at the fact that our room wasn't ready 1 1/2 hours after check-in but they accommodated us to an upgrade after we expressed the need. Room was very clean, well laid out with couch, tables, desk. Geremy in the restaurant was a great waiter with attentive and kind service. The Office Manager checking us out was also very nice and helpful, overall would stay here again.

Convenient location to the 5, grocery store, gas, Torrey Pines, only complaint is the $12 parking charge didn't seem necessary since it wasn't in an area like Mission Valley or Gaslamp.
