As a Diamond Member I was told that I would get parking comped since Breakfast is no longer included. I found out that on my bill I was charged for parking (I stayed for 22 days this trip. Last month I was there for 11, the month before that another 16).
When I called I was told that was not a policy since June. I have the pervious two bills that do not have parking charges on them. He explained that the cost of breakfast to the hotel was $5 (I am thinking when did I ever pay cost? Usually the charge is more like $12 to $14) and that parking was $15/day. He also explained that he would credit me the money for the parking but I would forfeit my points (of which I paid a higher fee for).
Before this experience I would have recommended this place. Now, not so much. There are just too many places to stay in the San Diego area to put up with this.

I just returned from an event/social at the Double Tree in Carmel Valley. First off, they had appetizers and a cash bar at 7 pm - outside on a patio, rather than indoors. The weather was in the 40's at this time and what heat lamps were out, appeared more for decoration than warmth and functionality. If the event was reserved indoors, I am not sure why they would "start" it outdoors in January. Seems odd for a semi-formal event. The next thing which was apparent: the area had just been "naturally" fertilized - every pot, plant and garden area. As one can imagine, it added quite an ambiance to the environment. I was there less than 30 minutes, overwhelmed by the smell; I'm not sure who planned this, but I will not return there.

Not the best we made it to our room and we noticed the A/C didn't work, and there is no fridge or microwave. You have to ask for one when you are booking the stay. Okay now it was our 2nd day staying and none of the keys worked lucky I had a digital key, but other than that you get cookies for being a member

Lady at check in was not personable. We felt like a number. And cookies don't make up for bad customer service.
Parking was $14.00 a night. Not cool. Should not have to pay for parking. And parking felt like it was on antoher businesses parking lot.
No fridge. Really...... Nickel and dime the guest is not acceptable either.
Construction was still going on and felt shabby. Maybye reconstruct the employees first. It will make the experience much better.
One good thing . close to beach...

Came here for an event. There's a lot of parking so that's a plus.

At the event, on the pool side, i stood by the bar and the bartenders were a little confused if they offered HH drinks to patrons or not. Also, the bartender who helped me was slow and distracted. He made one drink then while making my 2nd drink he knocked over / spilt my drink. Poor guy.

The food was meh and I was hoping it would've been delicious. I wish the setup of the venue was different from the dinner table seating and the main stage.

Superficially good hotel let down by loud noise from air-conditioner every hour or so throughout the night even though it was turned off. Kept waking me up. Management seemed to know about the problem but were not really interested. Lighting very poor with no central control. Good housekeeping. No fridge.

Thanks for the response but no mention about resolving the problems which I believe cannot be fixed. I liked the hotel in the past but properties date and standards change.

It s my first time to Del Mar, San Diego and booking a hotel from Hilton I would expect more.
- The staff who did the check in did not inform all the information needed. It was until we found out the purchase was a lot higher than the offer we got from Expedia, then asked and they said it was the deposit for any damage if happened.
- They don t have a bellboy, we had to carry our own luggages from the car to the room both way in and out.
- The staff, especially the women staff are not friendly. The only staff that was helpful and did a great job was John Lovely. He helped us upgrade the room and always answer our questions nicely.
- The parking fee is 15$/night and it was 30$ for our 2 nights stay. This is a ridiculously high price. When we asked, they said they did put it on the advertisement but I didn t find any information about this purchase during or after the booking done on Expedia.
- The room we booked that said pool view, but all the could see was palm trees and a concrete balcony that blocks all the view, we literally had to stand on the couch to be able to see the pool.

I wouldn t recommend it, it was a disappointment.

Nice hotel however they're currently under renovation so there's a lot of that going on downstairs. Rooms are ok as well.... You're really paying for the area apparently. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to my work colleagues.

Won't stay here again. Reservation screwed up. Room amenities were broken. Lobby and restaurants under construction. Lackadaisical staff. Nickel and dime expenses ($14 so you can park your car yourself among the construction equipment). Hinton should be embarrassed.

Was in town for the Kaa Boo music festival. The hotel said there would be shuttles to and from the location, but were not helpful at all in communicating where or when it picked up and dropped off. We had to call sevearal times just to find out where, and then were told the wrong location multiple times. Finally ended up taking an uber back because of an hour plus wait time even though we scheduled a pick up time when others did not. Hotel itself was omay. It's under construction making it very noisy. Cookies they are "famous" for were only average.
