Our rental vehicle was stolen from VIP valet (with our stuff and car seats for our babies.) We spent countless hours dealing with police and hotel management, they made no apologies and made no special accommodations, and no refunds. They were, for the longest time, unwilling to take any responsibility for the loss of the vehicle. It was the most expensive resort we ve ever stayed at ($1k price tag a night) and we had a horrible experience. Customer service is terrible. We won t return, and definitely won t recommend anyone to stay at this resort. We also had a pair of lululemon pants (that were drying on the railing) fall onto the roof below our room - they refused to retrieve them even though we could see them from our room, and when I called lost and found after our stay they told me that if it was over 30 days ago they don t keep anything in lost and found - even though I gave them all of my information to retrieve the pants once they were recovered.
Again, poor customer service, they don t care.

I don't know where to begin with this hotel, it's nice looking--but be prepared to open you wallet. $50 lunch buffet, $20 cocktails 18% mandatory gratuity added to every bill. Avoid their "Bristols Burgers". I just spent $50 for my wife and I and have had better
meals at McDonalds.

What more can I add? Staff is condescending and inattentive.

Almost forgot, they are still under construction. My balcony is locked by a piece of lumber, and a construction worker sometimes appears dangling from the roof by scaffolding. They advise you to close your blinds at the front desk. This is not a joke!

I have stayed at The Diplomat Beach Resort Hotel each year since 2013, this being my 6th year and have come to enjoy my visits and expect a high level of care and service.

This was the first time that overall customer service was poor from beginning to end. No valet or baggage service upon arrival, confusion and mix ups during check in, failure to provide water bottle tokens, incomplete room service/ clean up, generally unavailable front desk staff, and more. At this price point, having experienced all of the above in one weekend is a deal breaker. I'll likely choose to stay at a neighboring hotel next year instead.

Hotel, rooms and pool are great! This is my second visit and will be coming back! However, we arrived at a very busy check in time and had to stand in line for over 30 minutes and then wait for the room to be ready for another hour or so. When we were leaving the valet parking was not automatically charged to my card like promised and that took another trip back to the concierge. Getting my car back from valet also took close to 1 hour.

This is a lovely property. Had to carry our bags up the stairs though. If you're buying anything here, plan for it to cost 3x what you're used to. The pool chairs definitely get filled but staff will try and clear a spot for you if you ask. Water available by the pools all day, which is very nice.

Very nice hotel. Staff is very helpful. Restaurants are a little pricey, but the food is good. Great beach access although the beach is very narrow. All the hotels are right on the beach so there isn't a very wide beach.

It was meh. Staff is nice. The burger place was awesome. Cafe breakfast and rooms are over priced. Cafe breakfast is $35 per person. 18% gratuity on everything throughout all restaurants and bars in the complex. The cafe staff don't tell you anything, to bad we couldn't add a negative tip to the bill for them, absolutely horrible. I expect at least soft room towels for $400/night. Construction is not helping make this relaxing, its very noisy. I'm very disappointed with the cost vs. the experience. The Waldorf Astoria in Key West would have been a much better option.

No services book in the room. Took an hour for our luggage to be brought up. The valet guy has a "special" cash-only system...yeah, right. Put our breakfast order on the doorknob an hour before the deadline, but it didn't get picked up...so, no breakfast. Called the front desk, by pressing zero, and the phone rang for five minutes... no one ever answered. Oh, and there is a plunger in the bathroom. WTF?

Rooms dirty, paint chipping in ceiling, way over priced for what they offer. Would not recommend this venue for any reason. The glass on balcony has footprints appears to never have been cleaned. When we arrived at our room; no toilet paper, no drinking glasses, no tissues. Room service does not open until 0630 in morning. Parking is $37.50 a night. I don't mind paying for a clean, first class hotel. This place falls way short in all classes to being first class. With what they charge for rooms they need to seriously step up to the plate.

Chose this hotel to renew our vows on our 10th wedding anniversary as we had stayed here before a couple times and loved it. Was put in contact with Charlotte Phynes Garcia concierge to make the arrangements 9 months ahead of time and she really put in a lot of work to make our trip memorable. Unfortunately she was not able to be there on our big day but concierge Joseph stepped up to the plate and did a phenomenal job! He was very attentive and put us completely at ease. Everything that they arranged for us from the flowers to the cake to the limo and dinner reservations went off without a hitch. The pool bar Playa was our frequent lunch destination and bartender Marcella was so wonderful and was celebrating her anniversary the same day as well! Server Uvie (sp?) attended to us during our cabana time on our final day in paradise. The triple D's- David, David, and Deemis (sp?) made our anniversary dinner at Prime an unforgettable experience. Everything from check-in to the bell desk to the valet went smoothly. Would definitely recommend this resort for any special occasion!

When the diplomat was owned by the Westin it was fabulous and I went there three times a year for many years. When the Westin owed it it had that beautiful Westin smell and it was a pleasure to go visit. . In the past couple years it has really gone downhill . It feels more like a glorified Holiday Inn. I love the ocean view and the amenities but it just seems that everything is an upsell now. They even have a list of telephone services. A resort fee for absolutely no reason? No more minibar? Rooms have not been renovated in years. The staff who works there from the housekeeping valet, bellboy, seem to have a similar frustration. Management has changed , The basic staff is the same .. And they're not happy, which really resonates. There is underlying lack of respect for the fact that the hotel existed before, in all it's glory. A Real disappointment this year. I will try somewhere else :(

Check out is at 11. Housekeeping started banging on the door at 7:55. After 3rd return of them knocking at 8:49 I called guess services to inform them. I received an apology. Just to have them start back knocking at 9:58.

We visit every year. This is the first year it is not managed by Westin. Very disappointing. Will not be going back again. Stood in line 30 minutes just to check in. Could not use our balcony in our room as it is under construction. Beds are full size, not Queen size anymore. Makes a difference if you have 2 in a bed. Chairs on the beach are placed so close together you have no privacy and can't get away from cigarette smoke. Have to get your own umbrella if you want one, as the beach attendants can't bring it to you; stood in line 45 minutes to get it and cost was $20.00. Parking kiosk and gate at the garage across the street was broken. Took 10 minutes to exit every time. I reported it broken on Saturday, still broken on Sunday and continual line to exit. Valet parking at the hotel is not much better. Waited 15 minutes to get the car and cost for one night was $39.00. Finally, very few employees at the hotel smile. Everyone was just doing their job and clearly overwhelmed. The Westin staff was always smiling, much friendlier and more professional.

Not a good change in hotel management for the Diplomat Resort. Never thought much about looking elsewhere, the Westin Diplomat was great. But, it is no longer .....

Here for our anniversary and trying to enjoy ourselves amidst loued construction. We cannot escape the construction inside the hotel or outside. WIe were not told when we booked that the hotel was under renovation. Pick a different hotel! You won't have peace and quiet here.

I have also stayed in high end hotels and this hotel has a lot to be desired if it wants to call itself a resort. They need renovation for sure! But TELL PEOPLE about your mess and noise so they have an option to pick a hotel without construction!

How about offer people 50% discount at the bar and the on sight dining and the room during your renovation?

We were on our balcony and two men on ropes repelled down in front of our 23rd floor window. Every day there were men repelling gazing into our room! No privacy!

Pilllows and bed aren't so great. I had a bad back all day after one night.

(Posting under my wife's name.) My wife was staying here for a conference when she fell ill and was taken to the hospital. When I arrived, they extended my reservation during a very busy part of the season so she could return to her original room. I prefer small, old-fashioned hotels to large impersonal conference centers, so I was surprised by how professional, attentive, and friendly the staff at the Diplomat was. Every person I spoke to, from the head of security to the women at the pastry shop, was warm, friendly, and on the ball. The room was just right, and had a very appealing bathtub arrangement perfect for a bubble bath with a view. We might have enjoyed it under different circumstances. In spite of the difficulties with my wife's health, I found the entire hotel to have welcoming, healthy atmosphere. A breath of fresh air.

Terrible service everywhere (lobby restaurants pool etc). Check in desk is clueless and is not able to answer basic questions. The property is large but basic elements are missing and overal very dirty. Stay away and spend your money elsewhere.

I am staying in a 28th floor, city view room. The rooms are quite comfortable and are very nice. The main complaint that my family has had so far is that there is nothing to really block sound from the bathroom (aside from slats) so sounds travel very easily if someone wants to get ready before others do. Otherwise, it's a really nice hotel. The pools are great (and the hot tubs are great), service is about as quick as you can expect (there are a lot of guests), and the food is good.

The beach resort is spectacular. There was some delay in preparing our room, but the staff compensated that with their great service and discount. Would recommend this place for a relaxed beach side vacation.

I actually visited the Diplomat Landing, right across the street from the Diplomat Hotel, on the bay side. Gorgeous fountain and water views. Parking can be validated for some events/shops otherwise it can be costly.

No customer service to be expected except from housekeeping. They were wonderful, helpful, and pleasant! But the rest of the Diplomat staff are rude, and it seems as if they learned it from upper management.

I don't ask for much, just polite communication. When the fire alarm went off at 4 am, and we followed protocol in case it was real. We were met with annoyance and frustration. No hint of apology or reassurance.

Be wary of the bill at the end if your stay. Whether you can afford something or not, it's the principle of being overcharged. We were charged for our Internet (honor members receive complimentary internet), and the breakfast credit was never introduced to the equation.

I don't like auditing a hotel, and I really don't like being met with disdain in a business that revolves around customer service.

My first time in Florida and I can say the staff was amazing!
Upon your arrival, you ll notice the island like decor inside of the hotel many plants chairs.
The restroom is nice, nice bath and shower with a door separating the bathroom. There are shutters opening up from the restroom into your room. Looks great but you can hear everything from the room. Anyways when you walk out onto the patio you get the most amazing view of the ocean, it s so perfect it looks like a painting. There are swimming pools, a kid water play ground and you can walk right out to the beach. Valet parking is $40 a day and there is an automatic gratuity added to all of your meals. I love this hotel and will be back.

Location is fantastic, right on the beach, great pool area! Rooms are nice, and design is ok. It feels pretty empty in certain areas. Food is beyond overpriced. Food is definately mediocre. We walked to the Doubletree and got food there, fraction of the price and tasted much better.

I'm extremely disappointed with the parking situation. I will never return to this ghetto hotel again. Hotels extreamly over priced and seriously needs more staff working at the front dest. The lines were past the front doors of the hotel. We were told to go to the front desk to get wristbands to access the pool and we waited over 45min in line just to walk to the pool! I'm extreamly upset and I knoticed other people had the same problem. NEVER AGAIN!

First, I can t say anything bad about the hotel itself. The hotel is beautiful. If you are looking for a beach front hotel this is a great hotel. The amenities are good. FYI the spa is not on the hotel grounds it is at another location. They have a shuttle bus to take you to the grounds.

My biggest issue with the hotel is their valet services. The worst by far experience. If one is going to pay for valet services then one would expect valet services. The self parking garage is the same price as valet services. Valet is $25.00 and self parking is $20.00 BUT after tax and some other surcharge it ends up being the same price; which I think is a bit misleading. When I first arrived it took about 15- 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge me. There were very few valet attendants. Two attendants walked by my car 3 times before I got out the car and asked if anyone could help me. I had luggage so I needed a bell man to help with my luggage; which took another 10 minutes.

During my stay, every time I needed to retrieve my car or drop it off it took at least 15 minutes. Finally, I asked why does it take so long to get any car services; one of the patrons said it s because there are proms taking place at the hotel; to which I can try to understand however, this does not answer the question on why is there horrible service in the day time hours AND I am quite sure this is not the first prom party that they have had at the Diplomat so they would know to have more staff for said events. Honestly, I was quit disappointed and expected better.

The Diplomat is a lovely place. Everything you need is there...the issue is that it's all very expensive. The rooms are nice and interestingly furnished, but not very practically laid out (although I loved the fridge!). The staff is excellent, from the front desk to the wonderful housekeepers! But, you can't really get anywhere without a car. Not that there's much to get to in the area. If you like the beach and have an expense account, this is the place for you.
